Typical dinner, no fancy ambience . Service was good food was pretty good. But i'd like to start by saying--this place gives you a lot of food. I ordered a bacon omelette and it was huge. It was a bacon overload. But the food was tasty for the most part. Potatoes lacked a little flavor and were a bit dry, also my grits had waaay too much butter on top. One good thing I noticed here was, they do have the option of fresh squeezed juice which was good. They do have a small selection of alcohol available if you want a mimosa or Bloody Mary for breakfast. They have a couple of other alcohol selections as well. If you're starving and looking for a lot of food this might be a great spot for you. read more

Super cute breakfast spot with great food and awesome customer service. We stayed in the Waterside District and this spot was within walking distance of our hotel and had good reviews. Surprisingly there was no wait on a Saturday morning. Our server was kind and attentive. I'm an omelet girl and love when shrimp are a protein option. This was probably the most fluffy omelet I've ever had. I was concerned when I only saw three shrimp on top but rest assured, there were more tucked inside the omelet! The mimosa (ruby red) was also good. We noticed at the end of our meal that our server was speaking with another team mate and looking in our direction. Turns out, another guest had paid for our meal. Yep... the tears flowed because that's never happened before. If the kind stranger is reading this, "Thank you". Great breakfast spot right just a few steps from the Norfolk Marriott Waterside hotel. Ordered the loaded bowl with hash browns, onions, peppers, scrambled egg with cheddar,etc. and a fresh-squeezed glass of orange juice. It did not disappoint!!! This was a cute restaurant that was close to our hotel while we were in Norfolk for the jazz festival. The food was decent, nothing to write home about, but it wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was a little sketchy, seemed like she had a lot going on, but she provided decent service. However, I will say that I don't know if it was intentional or if she's not good at math, but we were due $40 back and she only gave us $30, and when I made her aware, she chuckled and said oh yeah that's right. The D 'egg Diner is located in the heart of Norfolk. I think the Main St. Garage is one of the closer garages for parking. I was in Norfolk for a week for some new job trainings, so I decided to try some local places during my lunch breaks. My visit here was on September 24, 2024. When looking for places to try out, I wanted to seek out places where I could get something without spiking my glucose levels as I have been in diabetic remission for over a year. When I came in, a host was at the door and I asked for a menu, as I would have the food to-go instead of dining in. After taking some time to review the menu and options, I decided to go with an omelet with four ingredients. I went with pepper jack cheese, bacon, green peppers and onions with salsa as the side and a biscuit for the bread item. After about 10 minutes or so, the food was ready. I did make the payment in cash. There is an additional 3% service fee if you use a credit or debit card. I then headed back to the building where the training I was attending was located. There's a break room there where I was able to have lunch. Once I got back to the break room, it was time to indulge in a lunch. Everything was still hot when I got there too. The food was very good and was cooked the right way as well. It was a filling meal. Overall, my experience here with the staff and food were very good. If I have to come back over to Norfolk in the future for any trainings, I would stop back in here again. This place is worth checking out. read more

Been to their new Pembroke location twice. Great food both times. Visited the 3rd day they opened and service was slow and just our luck the power went out. Thankfully we had our food and we paid cash as the WiFi was down so CC machine was down. Ooooohhhhh, a restaurant that serves its beverages with crushed ice. Overall, I had a decent experience at D'egg Diner. The restaurant's breakfast/brunch menu has a bit of something for everyone, and it has a wide assortment of fruit/veggie smoothies (good to know for next time). For my brunch, I went with a D'Feast with pancakes, turkey sausage, home fries, and three eggs. The big brunch meals, come with quite a few choices for sides, so folks can keep things interesting for multiple visits. The pancakes were awesome, but the turkey sausage was very bland and the homefries were ok. The menu promotes that real eggs are used in their food, but I did not notice any significant difference in the food compared to other non-chain restaurants in the area. While it was not the best brunch I've had in the area, it definitely was above average. Our dining experience was pretty straightforward, and I have no complaints about our service. I will admit that I was kind of surprised (in a good way) that there were very few diners on a Sunday late morning. Hey, I'm not complaining about that because we did not have to wait long for a table or for our food. I'll say for the amount of food that I received the prices were very affordable. Actually, there was so much food that I could not finish everything. While we had a decent experience at D'egg Diner, I do not think that I would go out of my way to dine here. This diner was across the street from our hotel, so convenient and very satisfying for a breakfast meal. I'm a huge fan of (good) biscuits and gravy, has to be something close to what Mom made, and theirs was pretty close. Instead of having a second plate for two over-easy eggs, the eggs were placed on top of the biscuits and gravy. My wife is a fan of pancakes and waffles and she enjoyed both during our two breakfast visits. The diner itself is laid out well and wasn't too loud even though it was bustling with breakfast-goers. The service is managed well - some servers are greeters and other greeters are bussers. An efficient recipe for taking orders, delivering food, and taking care of the customers. Value to experience cost was well worth it, not took expensive for great two great breakfasts. Definitely on the list when we visit Norfolk in the future. read more

Tried D'egg for the first time after seeing it while working in downtown Norfolk and while the restaurant itself isn't anything special or spectacular, the food was really good ! I had the loaded bowl with cinnamon roll pancakes, and I wish I had gotten 2 pancakes! The coffee is really good, and so was their Mexican coffee. Our waitress was a little off though... she was a red head with an accent. She just seemed too shy to be a waitress. She never gave her name and hardly spoke loud enough to hear. We asked for the morning mojito and she told us they didn't serve mojitos, but it was on the menu. When we pointed that out, she said they didn't have the mint. Wellllll that's a lot different than saying they don't serve them at all. She was just really awkward throughout the entire visit. I would have preferred another. I also got 2 large pancakes. They too were a bit thin. What I didn't like about it was the pancakes were a bit gummy. Steak and Egg Burrito was not what I expected lacked seasoning looked more like an egg roll cut in half not the burritos I'm used to on the west coast. The blue berry pancakes were sadly undone and the blueberries were over done. They do have a nice location and it's clean but customer service needs some work. Could have just been the one waitress we had because I did observe other waitresses engaging more. It was cold as well and when she went to send it back after she finally got someone to help her, that never showed up over 25 minutes. My food was already eaten because I was starving as she was too so don't bother with this place really nice places in downtown Norfolk to eat and this is one to miss. So for Service, I would give it a 7 to 8 because they tried for ambience. I would give it a four and for food. I would give it a one because it was food and I was hungry. But it was not tasty at all I will never go back. We went to the stock pot afterwards so my daughter could get something to eat that was devils appetizing to look at and worth it. Maybe consider adding some color for $20/ plate? I didn't eat my food (green potatoes). We visited the Larchmont location on Saturday. Hadn't been there in several years. Our waitress was awesome, super friendly. I Ordered ice tea and local yoakal, my spouse had a cup of coffee and a cheese omelette. I asked if Decker was still the owner, waitress said, no. You could tell the vibe was different. We watched the party of 3 people that walked in when we did, be seated, placed their order, severed, they ate, paid and leave; we hadn't been served yet. My meal was not good. That bed of potato's were cold and the amount of grease at the bottom of the bowl was off putting. The potato's look like a brown shredded sponge. We were sat near the kitchen door, the waitress asked the man in the kitchen what was the soup of the day and he yelled at her " Man!. I wish I hadn't seen the fry man smacking the fry basket on the trash can. The shredded potato's, which I'm pretty sure they were the ones I was served, that stuck in his fry basket. The plates were put in the window and the toast guy walks off. Waitress gos over looks and reports back to us, your order will be up in just a minute! 5 minutes later she gos back those same two plates are still sitting there, she picks up toast that was just laying on the counter that was make 10+ minutes ago and paints butter on them cuts them in half, puts that cold toast on those same two plates she had said your order will be up in a minute. The toast guy walks up while she's frantically painting cold toast and toast guy, moving glacier slow putting on gloves. She grabs the plates and delivers them to us. I know finding good help is Hard to find. In the restaurant business the owner has got to get in there and make sure this food is eatable and gets served. Decker did and it was always good. Random find right next to my hotel. Super convenient place to nab a delicious and filling breakfast at far cheaper than the $22 hotel buffet I had. Neat little place, not too busy at all when I came in 9am on a rainy Wednesday. Fast service and good size menu. The Yokl plate is that way to go for an under $10 meal that's filling and tasty.
