Katie was our server this morning. She was sweet and gave just the right amount of attention. Enough to make sure our needs were met but not too much to where it was overbearing. The food came out together and hot. We enjoyed out food. There was music playing but not loud and I couldn't hear anyone's conversation!

Local favorite spot. This place always has great food and great service. It is small inside but I've never waited more than 15minutes for a table. I went with my 3 kiddos. At our table was stuffed French toast, strawberry & blueberry, fried French toast, honey chicken biscuits and regular French toast. Of course we had the normal breakfast items, eggs, bacon and scrapple. The server was amazing and attentive. I ordered a mango sorbet mimosa, which was delicious. My kids and I loved the food, but it was clearly too much to finish so we ended up taking some home. I love this local spot, I will be back.

I stopped by again for the pancakes and tried the triple berry pancakes along with the All-American omelet, substituting egg whites. Everything was excellent! Although there was a bit of a wait to be seated, the incredibly friendly and welcoming service more than made up for it. The staff was amazing, making the experience well worth it.

In my search for the very best pancakes in the area (which I've been told they have) I find myself at The Pancake House & Grill in Norfolk. The business has been around for many decades on Wards corner. The exterior looks basic and the business is in a strip with good signage. Surface parking was adequate. Debris was seen in the lot and walk up. The sign said wait to be seated which is fine, but have a hostess which they did not. The waitresses and owner took turns. They had a decent Friday brunch crowd. It took a bit to be acknowledged and then seated at a table. The dining room surprised me because it was updated. Can I be a bit disappointed, well all good. However I heard they had lots of nicely framed black & whites of Norfolk hanging on the walls. I actually saw a few on the floor in a corner. My waitress an older lady got me coffee and water and smiled. I utilized the gender neutral restroom in the back left and found it clean with proper supplies. I found the old photos pushed off in a back hallway. They were so cool and disappointing that they are no longer the centerpiece of the restaurant. They also have a full service bar with around six chairs in the rear. My coffee from Norfolk Coffee & Tea was amazing. This is a business that been inn the Norfolk area since the early 1900's. A few of my favorite business's carry them. So this was a great sign. My breakfast order was blueberry pancakes with eggs over easy and sausage. The eggs and links came out first, then shortly after pancakes. Although the pancakes looked amazing they were sweet potato and were taken back. Pretty sure the waitress made a mistake as they were returned to the kitchen. The eggs were perfectly done and sausage tasty. About 10 minutes later she returned with blueberry pancakes which ended up being worthy of the wait. Three hot cakes with a hot cup of syrup. She did a coffee refill. The cakes were possibly the best I've ever had, so moist and thin the way I like. Huge full blueberries were in the pancake batter to make these beauties. They specialize in pancakes and I saw a pumpkin special roll out too! As I enjoyed breakfast I was ready for a third cup of coffee as I drained my cup. My waitress did a refill at a nearby table but made no eye contact with me. A short time later after she returned the pot to the kitchen I got her attention for a refill. My bill was closed out table side with a small machine, I always tip 20% no matter, but did note service issues preventing the 4th star. A 3.5 seems to fit this brunch visit the best and I would return. If you go do not miss the photos by the restrooms.

Great place!! Only a mile from mi casa. Listen they don't fail on the food and the staff are really sweet people. I mean they love doing what they do and they show you that through service. There were plenty of people here this morning; lots of babies... happy babies. Soft music and a kind host. Everything flowed at the pancake house. Michelle, our server was great! Very kind and attentive.

My wife and I had breakfast here and I tried something different. I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and fried chicken breast. It was delicious! The chicken was moist. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and the dish was very pleasing to the eye. I highly recommend it. The staff was great. The place was very busy, we sat at the bar rather than waiting for a table. They took care of us very well always checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. Give them a try!

Popped in here after PT one morning. Only a few minutes outside of Norfolk Naval base. Great service and a home feel. Coffee was fresh. I ordered the grilled corn beef hash with scrambled eggs cheese added. Friends ordered the strawberry pancakes, omelette, pancake stack. All food was fresh and came out quick. Definitely a hidden gem and the price is very reasonable. Check them out! Full bar also is a plus.

Sunday morning breakfast while in Norfolk. Parking: a busy lot Atmosphere: a little noisy Service: Service was ok. This place was very busy. Pack patience. Food: waffle, eggs and sausage. The food was good. They offer other items besides breakfast. I would go back whenever I'm in Norfolk.

I was taken care of by the chef and she was very helpful with the menu. They have so many appetizing options on their mostly healthy, all fresh menu. I love soup, so I love that they offer several each day, with some standards, plus a soup of the day, which on the day I visited was cream of potato. Where I sat at the counter, I could watch them making all the food and I was impressed to see that they don't just ladle soup into a bowl to serve it, they actually cook and prepare, then dress it to plate it perfectly. Their cream of potato was really good and not the traditionally made where the potato is pureed into the soup - rather they make a creamy soup base and then add potatoes to it. The combo of the soup, a small piece of potato, scallion, and a small piece of bacon really made for a great spoonful in each spoonful I enjoyed!! My coworker got their Asian Chicken Noodle and that looked amazing! He said it was incredible. Next up was the entrée and we both got their lamb gyro.... It's not the traditional gyro, it's an openfaced style, just like their chicken salad toast. It was really good! The tzatziki was great on it! And we also got a side of their cucumber feta salad... this tasted fresh and the feta was vibrant, with the combo of the cucumber and feta together being incredibly tasty. Overall, another very nice visit to a Stockpot restaurant... Looks like I need to try their Chesapeake location to get the trifecta of Stockpot! Highly recommend stopping in!

The restaurant was very clean, and since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. The staff was welcoming and friendly. A few minutes after we placed our order, we were informed that they were out of breakfast potatoes, which was surprising since it was still before 10 a.m. This limited some of the breakfast options, so I ended up ordering the Selden Breakfast (a biscuit sandwich), a kid's chicken noodle soup, a biscuit on the side, and a lavender matcha. The sandwich was delicious, especially after adding the garlic aioli. My only complaint was that the biscuit wasn't served warm, and I think warming it would have elevated the sandwich. The biscuit we ordered on the side was also not warm. The lavender flavor in the matcha was enjoyable, but the drink itself missed the mark. The color and matcha flavor seemed off, and it wasn't mixed well--I could see clumps of matcha powder sitting in the ice. On a positive note, my nephew really enjoyed the chicken noodle soup. Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience, but there were enough positives that I'd be willing to come back and give it another try.

From the moment we walked into Oceanview Diner, we felt at home. There was an immediate warmth--like stepping into what America is supposed to feel like--people talking, laughing, and genuinely connecting over good food. The attention to detail was impossible to miss. Fresh-cut flowers sat on each table, adding a simple but thoughtful touch. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with roasted potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and cooked perfectly--something that sounds simple but is rarely executed this well. The collards were good, though I personally would've liked just a touch more salt and a splash of vinegar to bring them fully to life. My partner ordered the fried flounder with asparagus and mashed potatoes and had nothing but praise. Not a single morsel was left on the plate, which tells you everything you need to know. Oceanview Diner delivered not just a meal, but an experience rooted in care, pride, and hospitality. Thank you for an amazing visit--continued success to you, and a huge job well done to the kitchen staff.

I visited a Hampton Roads Restaurant group on FB and asked if someone was visiting from out of town: What is your go-to place to take them? Out of 90+ comments, No Frill Bar and Grill was mentioned the most - six times! So when I finally had a day off and some other business to tend to in Norfolk, it was the perfect excuse to finally try them. No Frill Bar and Grill has been open for nearly 30 years by Jerry Meltsner. Jerry's nephew Jon Kliner helps co-own and manage operations. It originally opened on Tidewater Drive, but the space didn't allow for much growth - 10 years later, he moved to a location off Colley Avenue and Spotswood Avenue. Growth continued, moving from counter service to table service. The second location, at 1620 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach, opened in 2005. The restaurant's longevity stems from quality, consistency, price, service, and staff who genuinely care about the business and serving the community. I asked the server for her opinion on two options - Salmon, Shrimp and grits won. The dish was incredible: lightly blackened salmon, for once blackened food that doesn't just taste like salt. I don't dine with the swine, so I asked for no andouille sausage. The sautéed shrimp, caramelized onions, tomatoes, and spinach simmered in Norfolk Canyon ale sauce over cheesy grits and Boursin lavash cracker. The cheesy grits were smooth, and the Boursin lavash cracker was a nice touch. The Boursin added extra creaminess to the meal. The cracker wasn't really a cracker - more like little toasted bread. After this first meal, I know two things for sure: 1. I definitely understand why it is such a local favorite, and 2. I will be back.
