Katie was our server this morning. She was sweet and gave just the right amount of attention. Enough to make sure our needs were met but not too much to where it was overbearing. The food came out together and hot. We enjoyed out food. There was music playing but not loud and I couldn't hear anyone's conversation!

Local favorite spot. This place always has great food and great service. It is small inside but I've never waited more than 15minutes for a table. I went with my 3 kiddos. At our table was stuffed French toast, strawberry & blueberry, fried French toast, honey chicken biscuits and regular French toast. Of course we had the normal breakfast items, eggs, bacon and scrapple. The server was amazing and attentive. I ordered a mango sorbet mimosa, which was delicious. My kids and I loved the food, but it was clearly too much to finish so we ended up taking some home. I love this local spot, I will be back.

I stopped by again for the pancakes and tried the triple berry pancakes along with the All-American omelet, substituting egg whites. Everything was excellent! Although there was a bit of a wait to be seated, the incredibly friendly and welcoming service more than made up for it. The staff was amazing, making the experience well worth it.

In my search for the very best pancakes in the area (which I've been told they have) I find myself at The Pancake House & Grill in Norfolk. The business has been around for many decades on Wards corner. The exterior looks basic and the business is in a strip with good signage. Surface parking was adequate. Debris was seen in the lot and walk up. The sign said wait to be seated which is fine, but have a hostess which they did not. The waitresses and owner took turns. They had a decent Friday brunch crowd. It took a bit to be acknowledged and then seated at a table. The dining room surprised me because it was updated. Can I be a bit disappointed, well all good. However I heard they had lots of nicely framed black & whites of Norfolk hanging on the walls. I actually saw a few on the floor in a corner. My waitress an older lady got me coffee and water and smiled. I utilized the gender neutral restroom in the back left and found it clean with proper supplies. I found the old photos pushed off in a back hallway. They were so cool and disappointing that they are no longer the centerpiece of the restaurant. They also have a full service bar with around six chairs in the rear. My coffee from Norfolk Coffee & Tea was amazing. This is a business that been inn the Norfolk area since the early 1900's. A few of my favorite business's carry them. So this was a great sign. My breakfast order was blueberry pancakes with eggs over easy and sausage. The eggs and links came out first, then shortly after pancakes. Although the pancakes looked amazing they were sweet potato and were taken back. Pretty sure the waitress made a mistake as they were returned to the kitchen. The eggs were perfectly done and sausage tasty. About 10 minutes later she returned with blueberry pancakes which ended up being worthy of the wait. Three hot cakes with a hot cup of syrup. She did a coffee refill. The cakes were possibly the best I've ever had, so moist and thin the way I like. Huge full blueberries were in the pancake batter to make these beauties. They specialize in pancakes and I saw a pumpkin special roll out too! As I enjoyed breakfast I was ready for a third cup of coffee as I drained my cup. My waitress did a refill at a nearby table but made no eye contact with me. A short time later after she returned the pot to the kitchen I got her attention for a refill. My bill was closed out table side with a small machine, I always tip 20% no matter, but did note service issues preventing the 4th star. A 3.5 seems to fit this brunch visit the best and I would return. If you go do not miss the photos by the restrooms.

Great place!! Only a mile from mi casa. Listen they don't fail on the food and the staff are really sweet people. I mean they love doing what they do and they show you that through service. There were plenty of people here this morning; lots of babies... happy babies. Soft music and a kind host. Everything flowed at the pancake house. Michelle, our server was great! Very kind and attentive.

My wife and I had breakfast here and I tried something different. I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and fried chicken breast. It was delicious! The chicken was moist. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and the dish was very pleasing to the eye. I highly recommend it. The staff was great. The place was very busy, we sat at the bar rather than waiting for a table. They took care of us very well always checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. Give them a try!

Popped in here after PT one morning. Only a few minutes outside of Norfolk Naval base. Great service and a home feel. Coffee was fresh. I ordered the grilled corn beef hash with scrambled eggs cheese added. Friends ordered the strawberry pancakes, omelette, pancake stack. All food was fresh and came out quick. Definitely a hidden gem and the price is very reasonable. Check them out! Full bar also is a plus.

Sunday morning breakfast while in Norfolk. Parking: a busy lot Atmosphere: a little noisy Service: Service was ok. This place was very busy. Pack patience. Food: waffle, eggs and sausage. The food was good. They offer other items besides breakfast. I would go back whenever I'm in Norfolk.

In fact, I'm known among…read moremy friends and family as a very critical eater--some have even jokingly called me a food critic. So for me to take the time to write this says a lot. From the moment we walked into Oceanview Diner, we felt at home. There was an immediate warmth--like stepping into what America is supposed to feel like--people talking, laughing, and genuinely connecting over good food. The attention to detail was impossible to miss. Fresh-cut flowers sat on each table, adding a simple but thoughtful touch. Before our meals even arrived, we were served homemade herb focaccia with olive oil--an unexpected and appreciated gesture. And yes, even the water stood out. Being near the ocean, you often get that slightly earthy taste, but this water was clean, crisp, and clearly filtered. Now, the food. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with roasted potatoes and collard greens. The chicken was juicy (not dry at all) and cooked perfectly--something that sounds simple but is rarely executed this well. The collards were good, though I personally would've liked just a touch more salt and a splash of vinegar to bring them fully to life. My partner ordered the fried flounder with asparagus and mashed potatoes and had nothing but praise. Not a single morsel was left on the plate, which tells you everything you need to know. Oceanview Diner delivered not just a meal, but an experience rooted in care, pride, and hospitality. Thank you for an amazing visit--continued success to you, and a huge job well done to the kitchen staff.

Only regret was I wasn't hungry enough for the pot roast (fyi- pot roast and the stuffed figs were both daily specials) but the gravy was from that; it was literally my grandmas gravy. I didn't have dessert room either. I'll have to cross the HRBT for this. I Will.

I'd say when we pulled into the parking lot we were a bit skeptical because it was right next to a 7-11. I'm glad we decided to go in. The bar area is what you see first. The restaurant side was very nice and comfortable. The menu not huge but good choices. Service was friendly. We placed and order for the charcoal roasted oysters and to say they were good is not a sufficient description. They were so delicious and flavorful that we ordered another batch! At one point the owner came out to discuss a change he needed to make with our order. We talked with him about how wonderful the oysters were and the last time we had ones near this good was many years ago in New Orleans. The relleno de papas was seasoned very differently than what I am accustomed to but still very yummy. The Alcapurrias were lacking in flavor. My son ordered the Bistec Encebollado with Rice and beans and he was so happy that this dish was very close to our family recipe. My daughter in law ordered the Pernil sandwich which she absolutely loved. My son tasted it and said it was the best he'd ever eaten! My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich which he said had a Puerto Rican flair to it. Puerto Rican Pernil is much different than Cuban Roast Pork which is what he is used to as we live in Miami, FL I only had the appetizers as I was not too hungry to begin with but I was able to taste everything and this restaurant is being added to my favorites list! The restaurant was fairly empty, with only three other tables occupied, so we were surprised by the length of the wait. Our two canned Sapporos didn't arrive until about 30 minutes after ordering. The shrimp sandwich took approximately 45 minutes, and the Vang rolls arrived after about an hour. After waiting an hour, we were informed that the garlic shrimp for our garlic noodles was unavailable, despite it being part of our original order. Unfortunately, the Vang rolls were so salty that we couldn't finish them. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and there was little communication about the delays or unavailable menu items. After roughly 90 minutes of waiting, multiple delays, and learning that several items were unavailable, we decided to pay for what we had received the two Sapporos, the shrimp sandwich, and the Vang rolls, which came to about $70. Perhaps we visited on an off night, but the combination of the slow service, poor communication, unavailable menu items, and disappointing food quality made for a frustrating experience. First things first: the entire front-of-house staff was stunning. Everyone looked polished, well put together, and genuinely welcoming. For drinks, I ordered the Berry Bliss Mojito and the Blackberry Mule. The mojito was excellent, refreshing, balanced, and easily my favorite of the two. The Blackberry Mule leaned a little too sweet for my taste. One thing I really appreciated, though, is that they appear to take their cocktail program seriously. Their margarita is made the way I like to see it: tequila, Cointreau, and fresh lime, with any additional flavors complementing the drink instead of masking it with a bunch of cheap mixers. For food, I had the Chef's Bisque and the Oxtail Lasagna. Everything was outstanding. The lasagna isn't what you might expect. It isn't layered in the traditional way. Instead, it's made into pinwheel-style rolls, which was a nice presentation. The sauce absolutely stole the show. It was rich, flavorful, and tasted like someone in the kitchen genuinely cares about what they're serving. Joy was my server, and she truly lived up to her name. She was attentive, friendly, polite, and had a genuine smile the entire time. Empty dishes disappeared quickly without interrupting the meal, and the service felt effortless. A couple of things to know before you go: there's an automatic 20% gratuity added to every check, not just large parties. There's also a dress code, so I'd skip the sweatpants and distressed jeans. Lastly, this is an adults-only establishment, which I thought was a nice touch for anyone looking for a quieter dining experience. Overall, this was a fantastic experience.
