It's a mobile homeless shelter. I have seen drugs being bought and sold. Even the newest trains smell strongly of urine and filth. There was a stabbing murder at Norwalk Station. Ticket checkers wait at the stairs to meet their quotas and let people who do not have tickets cop attitude and walk on by. Overall it makes the regular everyday, paying commuter feel like less. Closing down Redondo to Aviation Stations for over two months starting late Jan 2018. It's an example of the failing infrastructure even after squeezing tax payers for the extra billion dollars recently. read more

The morning commute on the C line is filled with homeless people. The trains smell really bad, the floors are sticky and several of the seats are dirty. It's not uncommon to see someone shooting up or smoking a pipe. Ive seen everything from drug use, to nudity, to violence.The government wants everyone riding public transportation but they are doing nothing to address the issues on the metro. I have not seen one single "public ambassador" on the morning commutes, the Metro knows its filled with homeless people in the mornings and they don't want to address the issue. read more

Cool, Metrolink! Only reason why I came here was because I had to drop off the boyfriend since he only drove up to Norwalk and left his car there so that he can avoid traffic in the morning by taking the Metro link. This Metro link takes to LAX/El Segundo area. So if you're sick and tired of driving in traffic to work towards LAX area, this will be great for you. $1.50 each route. Oh, another thing is that you can carpool with a coworker who's heading the same direction as you, so you do not need to pay another $1.50 back to your car. Benefits your coworker and you. He/she doesn't have to go through traffic because you two can take the carpool lane! Yay! :) read more

The Metro Green Line is actually decent by comparison to the next nearest one, the Blue Line. So, automatically, when I think of the Green Line, I find myself shortly saying, "at least it isn't the Blue Line". It's sad, but true. Although the Green Line has only two cars per train, it's usually enough to accommodate all the riders who use it on the weekends and work days. The cars are decent, run fast and generally on time, however, I usually get annoyed at the amount of scratched graffiti that appears inside some of the cars. It's not as bad as other trains I've been on in this country (ahem, Philadelphia), but still annoying to observe and lowers the quality of the riding experience overall. There's a popular theory called the "Broken Windows" theory that I think everyone in urban planning and public transit should be familiar with and try to correct quickly on the trains. The parking lot at the Norwalk Station, where I typically park and ride whenever I decide to use the train, can be hellishly packed. Be prepared to walk a great distance in the unadulterated sun if you find yourself deciding to get onto the Metro system anytime after noon. Bring a parasol and/or a segway. Or better yet, get dropped off/picked up there. My critique is that there is no visible security in the parking lot. There needs to be more "eyes in the sky" or a toll/security gate here. The ticketing system along the Green Line is still (as of 11/9/12) unenforced. I personally don't like it and I wish that the turnstiles would lock unless you have a valid TAP Card. Heck, I wish more train platforms simply had turnstiles and an attendant and/or security in order to crack down on free riding. Los Angeles County is missing out on operating funds/revenue by ignoring this important upgrade. Metro forcing everyone to purchase a TAP Card is step one towards the right direction. The next step is making sure people actually tap into the system. I'm sure that the cost of having an attendant and security would be mainly offset by the revenues that are captured from making free riders actually pay for their fare. The stop at Willowbrook (formerly Wilmington/Imperial) is a rough one. It's the connector to the Blue Line, and unfortunately, it carries many "interesting" individuals as well. I would be able to more easily count how many times I DON'T see some questionable activity, deranged individuals harassing others, or inappropriate acts happening on that line. That's for another review though. Finally, I can't write this review and ignore the most glaring shortcoming here. There is no direct stop to LAX airport! For first timers or people from out of town, you have to exit at the Aviation/LAX stop and take Shuttle G in the parking lot in order to arrive at the airport. There were all sorts of local opposition from locals who didn't want the train to come through, but as a result, created a sort of incomplete (or half-assed) Green Line. I hope the future Metro plans call for an extension of the line into LAX directly...perhaps ending at the upcoming Passenger Processing Center at the airport. (Crosses fingers). I know LA County Supervisor Don Knabe and others have championed a direct connection to LAX, and since Measure J recently failed by a narrow margin (technically if it was any other proposition, it would have passed with the 64.75% it received, but a 66% "Yes" majority is required for new taxes), a direct connection that could have been made by 2020 will need to be reevaluated or pursued through the legislatures or another referendum. The Metro board and LA County will need to decide now how to improve and reallocate resources they currently have from Measure R to first clean up what they have now and make the Green Line and other lines truly world class. Once people are convinced and see that we have a great thing going with the transit system today, it would make future funding and expansion a lot easier. read more

I hope someone from Metro read this feedback and take appropriate action. I would give it a zero star if there is such option. After 8am, the train full of homeless and smell like urine. I called the train operator and he said he cannot do anything, I have to call the metro police. Got on the phone with Metro customer relation, spoke to a guy name Anthony. He said he cannot do anything as I have to talk to the person on the intercom. Got too many run around so I got off the train and take uber. Metro, not sure how you guys stay in business. The public transit is like 3rd world countries. As for safety, I doubt there are any. Feel free to ride the metro if you can endure the smell of urine and doesnt care about your life. read more

I blame US culture for how bad the public transportation system is. The BTS system in Bangkok is phenomenal. I was able to get through most areas of Bangkok cheaply and with ease thanks to the BTS rail system they've built. Efficient, cheap, and clean. When I flew back to Los Angeles, I decided to ride the Metro Green Line from LAX to Norwalk, and it was very different. The Metro system is very very limited to where you could go within LA, there was graffiti on every inch of it, and it smelled like urine. In Bangkok, and I'm sure in China and Japan, all walks of life use the rail system, and they use it respectfully. In the USA, it looks like mostly poor people use it regularly, and they don't respect it at all. The US has a very long way to go. read more

I live between the border of Hoxie & Lakewood station. However, Norwalk station has more connections. From here you can go to a variety of places such as Downtown LA, El Monte, Anaheim, Compton, Watts, etc! There's also always sheriffs here, so make sure you have a valid TAP card, or you'll be charged with a $75 fine ($5 is easier than $75!). There's also a snack stand here if you get hungry & sometimes you see some interesting people. The parking lot is horrendous--park 1 mile away at Lakewood! Bring some headphones and enjoy the ride! read more

Metro Green Line - Bout to catch the 125! - Public Transportation Near Me - Norwalk, California

I'm amazed how efficient public transportation has gotten in Los Angeles with the Metro. The trains are clean, cool, and will take you just about anyplace in the LA metropolitan area for only $5. We bought a $5 ticket that provided unlimited travel on the public transit system all day. I'd spend more money than that in gas alone and more time and be way more frustrated after sitting in traffic. If you haven't tried riding the Metro in LA lately, its worth spending a day getting to know the city. We rode from Norwalk to Long Beach to Union Station in downtown LA. Union Station is right across the street from Olivera Street and just a few blocks from Chinatown. So, we got to visit those places. The Metro is cost effective and worth looking into. read more

"Who am I and why am I here?" 1992 VP candidate Admiral Stockdale asked the audience in the Vice Presidential debate.The green line should be asking that question. First, it is a train that goes directly to LAX. Oh wait, it actually does not. It goes toward LAX, it is only 2 miles away and in my opinion decides, "Airplanes scare me! I'm going to run away. Besides, why should anyone at an airport use trains when they have planes?" It runs away from the airport and a few stops later completes its terminus at Redondo Beach. There's one problem: at the stop, there is no beach. In fact, there is no beach for three miles. A beach is an area with sand, tourists, ice cream shops and saltwater, not a place 3 miles from sand, tourists, ice cream shops and saltwater. The eastern end of the green line is similar. It ends at Norwalk and there is a metrolink stop at Norwalk. A line connecting South LA to metrolink is a neat idea Except the green line does not connect to the metrolink stop. The green line apparently gets bored because no one is riding it, it therefore gets tired out and decides to go no further in my opinion. Sour grapes much? Message to the LA Metro: going 2 miles away from LAX is not going to LAX, it is going to an empty airfield and large buildings. A beach is a beach, not 3 miles from a beach. Most importantly, few in my opinion will transfer to metrolink if there is no station transfer for 2 miles. There's a hike in the San Gabriel Mountains called Bridge to Nowhere. Apparently there are trains to nowhere too, even in LA where somewhere is everywhere. I know LA is working hard to extend a rail connection to LAX, hopefully they one day can be like SF, Atlanta, NYC and Chicago and have a train connection to the airport. I also know LA wants to extend the green line south toward Torrance. When LA does, I will be happy. read more

The smell yesterday on Earth Day on the Greenline made me want to hurl! It stayed with me all day at work. I don't know how they can encourage public transit when the smell is often unbearable. The seats are covered in velour like fabric which absorbs the stains and smell. There are so many homeless and crazy drug addicts that I often have to get off the train and hop on a different one. First review! I love this place so much I come here EVERY Mon-Fri. SO FUN. Ok I actually commute from home to downtown LA for work. Takes an hour to drive in the morning or it also takes around an hour to get there with the metro (green line transfer to blue line at Wilmington). So, I decided to try public transportation to save energy, cut gas/parking costs, and BE GREEN. Here are some good aspects of the Norwalk Green Line stop: 1) Parking lot is huge and there's free parking. 2) You can sleep, read, play games, whatever on the way to and from work. 3) Cheap! $1.50 per ride or $75 for the month pass. 4) Once in a while, you'll see someone cute. 5) Runs from like 6am-12am? Train comes every 7 minutes or so. 6) Avoid traffic and road rage. And the bad aspects: 1) Parking lot is huge but fills up completely by 7:30am (unless it's Friday). Freakin ridiculous. Means you have to wake up super early. 2) Smells worse than frat parties on there. 3) You encounter some weird people but they all just turn into good stories to tell. Blue line is way worse. 4) Most people aren't very cute. 5) After 8pm, the train rarely comes so if you don't have a 9-5 job, it really sucks. 6) Sometimes it breaks and you're stuck there for like half an hour, which is extremely annoying. The facility a the Norwalk station is decent, but there is insufficient number of parking spaces. There are a lot of regulars on the trains, including the usual homeless person and street "sales representatives..." where you can buy drinks, bootleg dvd's, incense and other stuff... Its not uncommon for the trains to smell of urine or the sort. and dont leave your bikes at any of the stations, theyll probably get stolen. no matter how cheap the bike. read more

parking is a mess at 7:00 am but do - able. Security is very present there as well as local police. So do not worry about you car or your safety to and from the parking lot. Also park in designated ports or areas they will ticket you vehicle. read more

I personally don't like riding the green line. But hey, it's not the blue line! It's reliable and gets you where you need, that's two stars. One extra star for going to LAX. Now for the negativity. This line has NO security. Metro thinks that since this line has the lowest ridership they can assign cops to lines with higher riderships: the gold line in Pasadena which is already safe. But the green line goes straight down the 105 from Norwalk to El Segundo. That means passing through places like Watts and South Central. Pretty safe, huh? I hear about people getting stabbed on the green line on the news all the time. If you absolutely have to take this line here's what I recommend. If you are going to downtown avoid the blue line at Willowbrook and take the silver line at Harbor Freeway. If you are going to LAX remember you have to take the G shuttle from Aviation/LAX station. read more

I would give this a higher rating except the parking at virtually any of the lots that you'd actually want to park in are horrendous. And be careful about trying to get a free ride here since there's like a 15℅ chance you will get caught. read more

It is so ridiculous! At 5am train is full of people sleeping inside. Sheriff just wake them up but don't remove them from the train. There is at least 10 to 12 people taking up the seats. We pay every day and if we don't pay we get fined. Do something please. Trains stink! This is everyday. read more
