Doctor is the only person that can do physical exams, and he doesn't come in at 8AM when they say they are open. Would be helpful if their hours specified this. The doctor spent 5 minutes with me to assess my physical fitness. 2 were the electronic BP monitor, 2 minutes with a stethoscope listening to my breathing. 1 minute photocopying my exam results. DC bureaucratic racket is the DC SPO application process. The physical lends no helping hand. They also don't do notarization, so if you're hoping to come here for DC SPO requisites, maybe consider elsewhere. read more

Very small lab located North of D.C. so it is easy to miss if you don't pay attention. The waiting room is the size of a small bedroom and when you go inside for your test, there is a small hallway and a small room. The staff were nice and got things moving quickly. You have to sign into a paper when you get it. There isn't really a system, but the employees will peak their head out and call you in. There were few parking meters nearby. It was a quicker visit than I imagined. read more

At a glance, I was unsure of this place but I'm glad I got my services don't here. There were a few people but the people working kept a nice flow of things. I was a very hard stick for a blood test but he was EXTREMELY patient and so were the young ladies! I even had to take a walk, drink lots of water and they still accompanied me. Not many places will let you leave the building and come back and still service you the same - you'd usually be thrown into the last of the line and often forgotten about. They did what I needed and I couldn't be more grateful! A big thank you to the staff!!! read more

I went into Metro Lab for a TB test on a Tuesday afternoon. I attempted to call multiple times before actually going to the location but no one answered the phone. I walked in, signed in and waited about 15 minutes before walking towards the back and completing the first part of the test. The nurse that administered the test was very friendly and she made me feel comfortable as I am deathly afraid of needles. However, while I was there, I noticed the phone was ringing the entire time and she was the only person there so she couldn't pick up, which explained why I couldn't speak with someone on the phone. So my company arranged a physical and work drug screen but when I arrived to the general area it was creepy, it looked like a whole in the wall from the main road so I decided to keep driving. Then I called my recruiter to give her an earful about how this billion dollar company's choices in coordinating hotels, labs and clinics for their employees. I came to Metro lab to get fingerprinted and the results never came in the mail. Turns out the IRS couldn't read the prints taken by metro lab. I were never notified. The FBI said they couldn't read the results. The owner dodged my calls, and when I returned to get reprinted they yelled at me and forced me to pay again. read more

A truly fraudulent business with rude and unhelpful service. The owner himself is probably the worst of all. I came here with my team for mandatory drug screening as part of a US government security clearance procedure. We were not asked what specific service we wanted and were directed to do the test We submitted the results and heard back that the letterhead on the results was not that of a SAMHSA approved agency. When I called the agency the owner yelled at me straight for 10 min and contradicted himself numerous times. First he blamed me for requesting the wrong test ("We always ask if you want a government or non government test"). When I told him no one asked us that question, he insisted we come back in and repay for the tests to be done. I told him it was a matter of time not money, he then said that they were not required to ask people who come in anything about the test they want. In fact, they were not required to do anything or offer any service. He was utterly unhelpful, rude beyond belief and I would never recommend anyone to come here for any services. I have reported this uncommonly poor service to the BBB and will request their affiliation with SAMHSA to be evoked. read more

Simply the most unprofessional, appalling experience of my life. I am absolutely shocked - I don't even have enough words to express my disgust. I have dealt with many, many companies, many, many service representatives in my life. The good and the bad, but never anything that even remotely compares with Metro Lab. Horrific customer service. Appalling phone manners. Truly incompetent. I spent hours on the phone trying to get my blood specimen processed and get results. I even recorded one of the absolutely hilariously and disgustingly unprofessional, rude conversations. I don't even know how to write succinctly about it, it was mind-blowing. Receptionists were awful, uneducated, zero phone manners, spoke to me in a way I've never been spoken to even by the worst phone representative of my life. The manager (?) was rude, clueless, contradicted himself, disorganized, told me conflicting information, kept me on hold while I listened to side conversations. Not one person I spoke to (and let me tell you there were many) had a firm grasp of the English language. They don't appear to use a computer system, a filing system, anything. They have no idea where anything in their office (?) is located. I would hear the rep talking to coworkers "have you seen this paper? where is it?" Someone even said to me "what do you want from me?" when I asked if they were going to be able to locate my results. Was put on hold for approximately 20-30 minutes per call. Sometimes hung up on. Not one person said "thank you for calling" or "thank you for your patience" or "we apologize" or "have a good day." I mean not only were they not polite/skilled in any type of human phone interaction, they were exceptionally rude, uneducated, disgusting people. People who should not have any interaction with the general public in any capacity. I don't know how to emphasize this enough. Even the WORST cable/cell phone company phone rep I've ever spoken to was a thousand times more pleasant and professional than any single person I interacted with at Metro Lab. I was told my results were ready. Then not ready. Call back tomorrow. Yes they're ready. No they're not. Yes they are. Can you give me the results? "I don't know where he put them." When is he coming back? "I don't know, call back later. He'll be back when he gets back." Then later: Who told you they're ready? They'll be ready when they are ready "don't harrass me." Then later: "the manager's busy, call back tomorrow I guess." "What do you want me to tell you they aren't ready, how do I know when they will be ready?" "Why don't you call back maybe tomorrow." They won't let me cancel the charge because the test was already supposedly but it's been two weeks, no contact, no test results. I cancelled my debit card (highly regretting using it rather than my credit card) and spoke to my bank about concerns of card fraud. Too late for them to get my money back from Metro Lab as they ensured they charged me day one. (Bank willing to refund, but I want my money back from the fraudulent business not my bank!). I'm terrified that they have my personal information at all. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and hoping to get one of the local news stations interested in investigating. I want to tell everyone I can about this experience. That's how shocked and appalled I am by the whole thing. Please, please find somewhere else, anywhere else, to handle your lab specimens. If Quest Diagnostics refers you to this -- what I truly believe to be -- a sham of a business operating without absolutely any professionalism (and I can't imagine handling blood and urine specimens appropriately) -- look elsewhere. If you want a quick test done, this is the place to go. If you want a place to park, to not feel cramped, and have the workers know what they are doing this is not the place to go LOL. I was told they needed to take a hair sample for a drug test. Hair test?? How about a 500 hair test?? The lady literally cut out a chunk of my hair and then combed my hair back over it and said "it's good" LMAO!!! The hair will grow back but my perception of this place won't. They were all very nice. Oh yea, there's nowhere to park...I had to pay the BP Gas station $5 to let me park near their car bays. Apparently this is what they do for the Metro Lab customers!!!! read more

Zero stars is more fitting. I chose to come to this location because it was given to me as an option to have drug and alcohol pre-employment testing done. My HR rep told me they'd stopped working with Metro Lab about a year ago because this business had been consistently inefficient, rude, and incompetent. I chose to come here anyway because it was the only convenient option for me to get this taken care of. My HR rep called Metro Lab on a Friday and spoke to the owner to confirm they could see me. Everything was set. The next day, I showed up at Metro Lab at the time of my appointment, waited 30 minutes in the lobby, was escorted back and blew into the breathalyzer. The staffers then told me that I didn't have the right form to take either the alcohol or the drug test. But since I'd already blown in the breathalyzer, they made me pay the $25 for that test and ensured me they could just fax the results to my employer. NOT THE CASE. My employer won't accept a faxed copy of the results - a step in the process that Metro Lab is fully aware of. The staff were rude, unclear, and all around unhelpful. I called back on Monday to request a refund and spoke to the owner / manager, who was the most rude and unhelpful of all. He said, "YOU DON'T TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB. If your agency sent you here, they should have known we don't work with them anymore." Unbelievably rude, indescribably inefficient, borderline fraudulent. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

I was required to get FBI fingerprints for my job so I went to the Georgia Avenue location because the other Metro Lab was closed. I completed the application then was called to the back within 20 minutes. Once my fingerprints were completed I paid $70 in cash and was given a piece of paper with an access code which I was told would be available after 5 hours then would only be available for 24 hours. I began checking on the 5th hour and several days after that. I called the number on the access code which stated the investigating office. I was told they never received anything with my name on it but they would call to Metro Lab to check on it. When I called the investigating number back I was told the Metro Lab staff informed them that they had put it through but that wasn't the truth. When I called the Metro Lab and identified myself and what had happened they tried to rush me off the phone and ignore me. I told them that they had stolen my $70 because I paid cash and I needed them to forward my prints so I could get my results. Meanwhile the HR department at my job held me accountable for getting my results and held my paycheck until I did so. Therefore I tried to get my fingerprints in Maryland but because I worked in DC I couldn't do that. So I called Metro Lab again to make sure they would be open before I made the long drive and I identified myself then they brushed me off of the phone. When I called back several times they had blocked my number preventing me to call them. Little did they know I was in route there to get my fingerprints again. When I got there and completed the application again this one lady took the paper to the back and informed them that I was in the waiting area. I then got up and stood in the doorway to the back so they could see me and I was allowed to the back. When I got in the back I informed them that they had stolen my $70 and I wasn't gong to pay again. They proceeded to take my fingerprints then requested $70 again. I told them that I had already paid and shouldn't have to pay again but they said that I had to or I wouldn't get my results. This time they had me enter my information to receive a receipt and I clicked to receive by email and text. I was also given the paper with the access code to retrieve my results. This second time they did put my fingerprints through and I received my results but I had to pay $140 in total. My advice to everyone is to NEVER pay in cash and make sure you get a receipt or they will scam you as they did me. read more

I went to this office, because I needed a fingerprint test for employment, I have a pretty busy schedule working and studying, I made the appoinment online with one week in advance, when I got there 40 minutes before my appoinment, to my surprise they just told me that the machine had not been working. Do they have a phone? Do they check the schedule? They could have saved me some time if they had called me a let it me know. I work in a Dental Office and we have a pretty hectic schedule, but We are really responsible , this office IS NOT. read more

Went to Metro Lab to get fingerprints done for the State of Florida. Found Metro Lab on a list of approved vendors published on the state's website. A month later, Florida says they have not received the prints. Have tried contacting Metro Lab numerous times. Either no one answers the phone, or the voice mailbox is full. Tried to e-mail them to no avail. This is not the company that you want to use if you have another option. read more

This is my third time at the Georgia Ave location, and I arrived here at 10am on a Saturday as a walk-in. The attendant, while perfectly nice, told me that the person who could do the testing I needed "stepped out" and that the doctor would be in at 11am, so I'd have to wait for one of them to show up. I even went to get a coffee and was given some sass for leaving when I was JUST told I would have to wait 45 min for the doctor to arrive. I understand people need to take breaks but it seems useless to open up if no one can perform the tasks advertised. On top of that, the "check-in" system consists of you waiting until the attendant comes out to give you forms and sometimes that can take a while if she is working with someone in the back, so others come in and wait, but she isn't keeping track of the order or who has been waiting the longest. The communication is definitely lacking. Not happy, and not returning. Avoid, unless you have a lot of patience and extra time. read more

I went to get a routine hair drug test. There was no warning of how much hair they would cut. They did not cut from the bottom or back of my head but the TOP of my head. I have shoulder length hair and after going for a drug test, I now have a 2 in diameter bald spot on the top of my head. This is absurd. The person cutting my hair moved a section from the top of my head and cut excessive amounts of hair. Off the top of my head. For the next 6 months, I will have an awkward patch of uneven hair on the top of my head. It looks like a child took scissors to my head while I wasn't watching. Although a hair sample was required , it should not have been taken from the location that mine was taken from. I would not recommend this place to anyone and would avoid going at all costs. read more

As others have said this i a small cramped clinic in DC. The staff, while not outright rude to me were quite curt in their responses to my questions. Further the lady that was helping me seemed to refuse to speak above a whisper. The biggest complaint I have is the fact that the facility is quite dirty. Everywhere you look it's evident that there has been no attempt to keep this environment the least bit clean. It also looks like no investment in infrastructure has been made in quite some time (if ever). The chairs in the waiting area are small, plastic, and uncomfortable. They could do with a few less chairs and upgrade to some padded chairs with cushions. In the restroom where you give your sample the knob for the hot water is completely missing. Therefore, when washing my hands I had to use exclusively cold water. I am genuinely concerned about how well such an environment could function as a lab without something getting contaminated. Would it kill them to purchase a vacuum? If your employer or perspective employer gives you any choice and you can go someplace else then you should do so. Run, don't walk, away from Metro Labs. read more

I came in for my appointment for fingerprinting and was told that the machine was down. the ladies in the front office then ignored me and con't to talk and laugh amongst themselves in their language I waited a few moments to see if they would say anything else. Eventually i asked what i should do, one handed me a card and then told me to call back and come back when the machine was up. Beyond rude! when I asked why i was not called/emailed about the down equipment i was told that it is my responsibility to come in and do what is needed. I called MophoTrust and reported this location. MophoTrust checked and said that they had gotten no reports that the equipment was broken/the system was done and say that they will now investigate. Totally infuriating and a total waste of my time experience. read more

I went to the Georgia Ave. (D.C.) location for electronic fingerprinting in late April for an FBI Background check which I needed for a visa application. The person who helped me didn't really seem to know how to do this, and the system kept indicating an 'error'. She claimed to be able to override this, and sent the fingerprints off to the FBI. I asked a couple of times during the process whether there could be a problem, and I'd have to return to be re-printed (the commute to the lab for me was not easy). She assured me that everything would be fine. It was not. The FBI report I received showed an 'error', and I had to return a few days later to get the fingerprints re-done (taking time from work for both visits). On the 2nd visit, the manager (K.C.) helped me, and seemed genuine, but told me because I'm a teacher, the fingerprints do not register well with the system, as "teachers and nurses tend to wash their hands and use hand-sanitizer more frequently." I never use hand-sanitizer, and wash my hands at regular intervals (i.e. after using the bathroom, before eating, etc.). I've had my finger-prints taken before for employment, and have never had issues. In the end, the 2nd attempt (which also was fraught with 'error' messages on the system again), somehow did work. They charged quite a high fee for this. The FBI channeler I used said that fees for finger-printing can range from $5-$40. I was charged $34. I'd suggest if you're seeking a service for electronic finger-printing, do not use MetroLab, if you can avoid it. read more

The other two reviewers are honest, the clinic is understaffed and the wait is very long. I think the staff is not that friendly, but not terrible .It is very unprofessional of the staff to keep speaking a language ( Amharic) that you know your clients do not understand in front of them when all the staff know and speak English. Plus there was no air conditioning in this tiny office for the paying clients, but the area where the staff was air conditioned. The only good things about this business are the location and the reasonable prices . It was not the worst experience I have had in a health clinic but they need to be more professional and deliver the requested services on time. read more

This was a terribly run and unprofessional business. I am absolutely shocked that they are a DOE test collection facility. First, the phone protocol was appalling. A woman answered the phone casually and did not even identify herself as affiliated with the company. I had to ask for confirmation. Once you arrive, the tiny front part of the office does not look clean and it gets worse when you deal with the people who work there. I had to come in for a test collection for a federal government position and had all of my paperwork. First, the manager acted surprised as if he had never heard of what I needed before. Then the manager told me I had to pay a $15 collection fee. My prospective employer told me I did not have to pay for such tests and never in my career have I had to do so for such tests - the employer picks up the cost. I called my employer and they confirmed I did not have to pay and that the paperwork I had informed the company to bill them. I went back to explain this but the two female technicians flipped through my paperwork and I doubt they knew what to even look for. They then allowed me in the back of the tiny office to speak with the manager who knew I was there but kept me waiting as he chatted on the phone and tried (in vain) to login in to some website for an unrelated matter. He kept me waiting for over ten minutes with my employer's HR on my mobile trying to get his attention to deal with the situation. I had direct sight to his emails on his computer screen and his login and password that he tried multiple times to type (very slowly) on his computer. Long before watching him, I had a strong feeling that this company couldn't even tell you where the sky was and I lost all trust in their competence. I spoke with my HR representative right there in front of the (still typing and talking) manager and asked her to schedule me to go to another test collection site. I could not trust this company not to screw things up in some profound way. I walked out of there and no one stopped me or tried to speak to me or in any way indicate they cared. Do NOT use this facility! We had them perform 2 DNA collections for us. The first time, when our customers arrived, Metro Lab asked them what they paid and when our customers told them, Metro Lab said, oh, we can do it cheaper. We had every intention of pulling them from our data base right away, but before we pulled the info, one of our girls set someone else up for a collection with them. (Both were scheduled within a few days of each other). The second time, they lost our customer's samples. It has been exactly one week ago today and the samples are nowhere to be found. Now, when we call to get a tracking number or any other info that may help us locate the samples, Metro Lab hangs up on us. Extremely bad business. And, we are not the only one's. Our testing lab sent clients in this past Saturday, the 10th, and those samples have also been lost. To make matters worse, they don't understand English very well. They have no buisness doing legal DNA collections, or anything else for that matter. Both us, and our testing lab are through using this company. Do NOT waste your time here! read more
