Absolutely STAY AWAY! Not dependable AT ALL! Yesterday I spoke to Donnie and set up an 11:00 appointment for this morning to get new locks on the doors for a property I manage. 11:00 rolls around so I give them 15 minutes just in case traffic is heavy. I give them a call and I'm immediately told that there's only one locksmith so they're just probably running behind but he doesn't know when he'll be here. Confused, I explain I wasn't given a window or anything, we had a set time at 11:00 and that was that, so when will he be here? The employee tells me to please hold then I hear Donnie on the line apologizing about multiple emergency calls he had last night and this morning. I told him that's fine, emergencies happen, however if an emergency comes up in my field we tell the clients it will affect BEFORE they make the hour trip to a property that they'll be waiting for me at when I wasn't planning to show up. He apologized multiple times but then kept saying he can't give me a time he can be here but he'll give me an hour's notice. I let him know I have many other appointments today but I'll listen for his call. An hour later I haven't heard back so I call asking if we can just set it for 4:00 this evening as I have a flight to catch at 8. All he says is "yes ma'am" Here at 3:45 wishfully hoping they'd be early to make up for this morning, but knowing surely they'd be on time or notify me if they'll be late. But of course not, 4:00 passed so I give them 15 minutes before I call asking where they are. Donnie picks up and says "our guy is on his way to you." I just say okay, thank you, and hung up. 4:37 "Hey Donnie. What's going on here?" "He's still on his way. It may be at a bit of a distance but he is on his way to you." 4:56 and they've stopped answering my calls and of course their voicemail is full so I can't rant about how unacceptable and unprofessional they are. I don't understand how this company stays in business. I saw all the bad reviews and should've checked those first before calling on them. I had a key broken off in my front door and couldn't leave my house until it was fixed. They promised several times to be there and didn't show up and then finally they never showed up. I talked to owner today and he said he didn't even know who his worker had gotten to and he he didn't. That's bad business in my book. I finally had to call someone else to get the key out so that I could leave my home to go see my husband in a nursing home. I will never use them again and will not recommend them to anyone my rating is zero read more

My complaint is just like the rest. Had them rekey a lock for us and the key that was on the lock moved flawlessly but after they rekeyed it the key would catch at a certain point and be very hard to turn. I called and they would be out on 3 separate Occasion and never showed up. I will not be using them again. Not sure how they stay in business with how they treat there customers wow pay a pretty price for their services and don't fix their mistakes. read more

Home Depot and Lowe's have a machine to make duplicate keys. However, they don't have blanks to duplicate many keys. Metro Lock and Key does. I have used their services twice. Once for duplicate house keys and once for duplicate cabinet keys (which HD and L didn't have the blank for). Service has always been quick and at a fair price. My go to place from now on for keys. read more

I am at a loss of words on how to describe my experience with Metro Lock and Key. I have Airstream travel trailer I needed a deadbolt installed in, and after making many calls to other locksmiths with no luck I was given a recommendation to call them. On my first call to them they said no problem, we have done this before and will get you scheduled for the next business day. I was relieved, because no one else wanted to touch this job. They put me down for 10 am. 10 am came and went, I waited tell 10:45 to give them a call. When I called they told me they were too busy to send someone on base for $100 dollar job that might take them more than an hour because the inspection before they could come on base. I was understanding, and we rescheduled for the following Monday and I would pull my trailer off base to help save them some time. That Monday came, I called to verify they were still coming before I pulled my trailer off base. With out contacting me they cancelled, they apologized and said they would clear there schedule so they could get to me the next morning. So now they have cancelled twice, but promised it would get done. Yeah, so Tuesday morning comes around, I pull my trailer off base. I call to make sure they are good..... you guessed it, they cancelled again and said they don't won't to do it anymore. Unbelievable Metro Lock and Key, your word means nothing. Thanks for letting me down 3 times, your support for military members is garbage. read more

Donnie and his team provided excellent service for my ship when we needed replacement keys for our Sentry Safe. They worked quickly to procure the keys and notified me immediately upon receiving them. The staff is very professional and kind. For me, customer service means everything. Though I only needed a key duplicated, both of the people who helped me (perhaps the owner was one of them?) were extremely friendly and helpful. If I ever need locksmith services, I will without a doubt, call Metro Locks, Keys, & Safes before I would anyone else in the Hampton Roads area. read more

There is no better place to go for a key or lock.... period. They have everything, and have great customer service. I live at the beach, only a mile from the oceanfront. And Metro is a good 10 miles from my house. Sometimes, when I am feeling lazy, I ask someone closer to home cut a key for me. They never quite fit. Rather than take it back, I just do what I should have done in the first place and drive out to Metro. I have NEVER had to make a return trip. Of course, when it's time for bigger jobs, they are the only people I call. Trust them. read more
