Metro Locksmiths probably maintains partnerships with a number of both residential and commercial properties in the city, and my apartment building is one of them. The convenient part of that is they already had a card of my request on record, so there was no need to take my key off my keychain (we all know how annoying that can be for you and your poor fingernails). However, they are then under strict guidelines and unable to relinquish the key copy unless they have permission as well as your name from the property management. The service here was great, and they dealt with my frustrated attitude patiently and professionally. Once my key was able to be copied, it was done in less than a minute. They also have chairs in this small shop for you to comfortably wait. read more

Tim's excellent work and Matt's fast response is at least 5 stars! I and my neighbors (6 unit building) are relieved that Tim was able to solve what had become a complex, drawn out problem. We didn't want 2-4 different vendors, needed one that understood how it all works. The short of it is Metro does good work, but they will overcharge you every chance they get. I have used Metro on multiple occasions to as president of my building's HOA. They installed and maintained our Doorking entry system. The work they did was good. But every time I received a bill, there were excessive charges. When I inquired about how the hourly time added up I received an angry reply amounting to "how dare you question our bill". I continued to question the bill because the amount was clearly too high. I was told they would review the charges. I followed up and asked about the status of the invoice about a week later, and did not recieve a response. I learned today they sent the invoice to the management company in hopes the management company would not know better and pay it, and it might have worked. I'm not saying don't use Metro. But I am saying you WILL have billing issues, so watch them like a hawk. read more

Needed to have door locks rekeyed for my wife's business. Metro's mobile visit would've been great (cheapest that I had contacted), but they were booked to the end of the week. Instead they offered to rekey them if I brought them in, which saved us some $$. Since they were less than 10 min away, I opted to do that and waited about 30 min for them to rekey the two locks and make up duplicates for me. Definitely will use them again if we need to rekey. read more

I needed some car keys done. For the type of key I needed, they explained that they may not be able to make a perfect copy and thus would not refund the cost of work performed. I understood the consequences and we proceeded. The manager was very friendly and the service was very prompt. In a few minutes the keys were cut, tested and worked perfectly. What I was shocked about was the cost. Very inexpensive for what I needed and even thought I should pay more. I'd certainly go there again for my lock and key needs. read more

I was a bit surprised that they charged $230 via credit card to provide an estimate (though it is deducted from the actual work), but then the work wasn't able to be billed to my credit card. Although both the initial estimate appointment and the actual installation of my security gate access system went REALLY well, my dealing with the company left a lot to be desired. I communicated very clearly with the estimator and when I returned the signed estimate about needing to get a lock keyed to match my door deadbolt, but they omitted that re-keying the lock would not be included in the cost and then they never managed to quote, schedule or complete that work. After running me in circles for 3 weeks, I finally had to call a different locksmith to complete the most basic task of my whole project. read more

Due to an unfortunate incident with a tenant I needed to change the locks on my apartment. Metro were the first people to respond and presumably were the busiest too as they weren't able to come to me for a couple of days, admittedly it was 4th July weekend, however when they were able to come they were efficient and friendly as well as being very security conscious. Giovanni called ahead to let me know he was 15 minutes away and so he was; he worked, quickly, quietly and efficiently. I needed lots of keys which he organized for me. Our building manager has worked with Metrolock for some time now. We took her recommendation a few years ago to adopt them as our go-to security/access vendor too, and we haven't looked back. Here's my feedback about their services: Pro's Metrolock is eminently consummately professional, once on site, they work swiftly, skillfully and diligently. They possess a range of amiable experts among their personnel who can manage a plethora of complex security and access issues. Their advice is honest and relevant for the circumstances, and always to future-proof installations and equipment. Aftercare is excellent. Cons It can take a while from requesting work and paying the 50% down-payment to physically getting installers at the site. Installation can be a little haphazard, depending on availability. And, yes, like others on Yelp say, they are on the high side for cost - but you get what you pay for with Metrolock. Metrolock does outstanding work, if they're in your price bandwidth, I'd strongly urge you to consider using them. read more

They drove 30 miles out to me that SAME DAY (and they were ON TIME!), it was done in less than 15 minutes, and I LOVED that I paid $45-$90 LESS than all the other locksmiths I had called. We recently had a code lock replaced and the service from Metro was appalling. My wife was coordinating the repair -- in a not unusual manner, the rep finished and told her the lock was replaced and re-keyed. Fast-forward a week later, I go to program the new lock find it is still the original lock, original key. He only changed one side, the side that didn't have any of the electronics or the lock cylinder. He LIED about replacing the lock and he LIED about re-keying it. The bigger problem is that I suspected the new code lock to be defective and wanted the locksmith to test it before installing it (otherwise I would be returning it). The Metro rep LIED about that too - he told my wife everything was fine and that the new lock was working great. The worst part is that Metro THREW AWAY THE KEYS for the new lock. So I now can't confirm if it's broken and can't return it. And if I do want to try and install it, the lock has to be picked in order to rekey it. STAY AWAY. THESE GUYS ARE AWEFUL. read more

Metro *had* been my go-to locksmith since they were in their tiny basement on California @ Polk, over 14 years ago. Unfortunately, customer loyalty seems to not matter to them. I will highlight two recent incidents that have forced me to utilize other locksmiths. After completely botching a key job at one of my buildings, they offered to "fix the problem for a discounted rate". Even though they owned up to botching it, their "discounted rate" was more than another locksmith company quoted to fix Metro's mistakes. Shady. Metro was called for a lockout at one of my buildings and instead of simply rekeying the door (~$100), they sold my unsuspecting coworker an entirely new handset for nearly $500. The old $200 handset disappeared. Shady. Jimmy seems friendly enough, but his staff could are seem over-worked and worn-down, and it shows in their customer service. Wouldn't recommend Metro. read more

The first time I called about a broken door handle on our building, they responded promptly and made a temporary fix. They didn't have the replacement parts in store, but said they would order the replacement parts from the manufacturer and get back to me in a couple of days. The temporary fix lasted 2 days, and then the door handle fell off completely. I called back after a week, and they said they were still researching, and would get back to me. I called back after two weeks and spoke to a manager, who apologized for the delay, and said he would get back to me in a day. I called back after nearly 5 weeks, and was told that the guy working on my issue was out to lunch and would call me when he got back in. That was yesterday, and I still haven't heard back. They have very good reviews--and they were very nice whenever I spoke with them--so I'm not sure what the deal is. Whatever the case may be, at least in this instance the service has been unacceptable. read more

Metro Lock is great! I've used them many times especially for after hour repairs, lock outs, rekeys, etc... They are responsive and their after hour rates are super cheap. I had a malfunctioning lock a few weeks ago and the tech was at the building within 20 minutes, even though it was around 9PM. Quick, cheap, knowledgeable, responsive- what more can you ask for? I was ready to rate this place as a 2-star since they completely missed my first appointment, but the guy who ultimately came ended up being a rockstar. He came within the allotted time frame, and even called 20 minutes before arriving to give me a heads up! He was INCREDIBLY friendly and got the job done in less than 20 minutes (I just needed a simple bedroom lock swap out). I had an appointment for 9AM to fix a broken lock, at 9:20 I called the main office to confirm someone was to show up; and about a minute after that (in the middle of my phone call out to the company) I received a phone call from the locksmith, Dan, stating he was about 5 mins away. I watched him pull up to my building and sit outside in his van, thinking "alright, let him get his things together and make his way up". . . . 9:55AM rolls around and I finally call him on his cell and he says he had JUST pulled up to my building. . . Which clearly was not true. He stated that their company recently added a new wave of employees and are making it difficult for the scheduling etc. . . And that he doesn't get into the office until 9:30AM and no one told him he had an appointment. This is not to say that Dan wasn't a nice person, he was completely pleasant and apologetic and quick in fixing what needed to be fixed; only took about 10 minutes to fix and all was good. My issue is that I, as well as everyone else in the world, has a schedule to maintain. So when I stay home from work for what should have been a 15 minute appointment turns into a 75 minute appointment that reeeeally irks me. Clearly the office has some kinks to work out . . . read more

No complaints at all! When I moved in, I received a promotional card in the mail to change the locks. "Why not?" I thought. I usually would not go for these kinds of deals, but this was a discount, and I needed to do it anyway. Saturday appointment, on time, job done. Sad part is, I had to do this AGAIN when my keys were stolen from my car. This time I was really, uh, particular, and I had all the copies numbered so I could keep track of them. Needed to purchase and install a six unit mailbox back in early December. No one could tell us the cost of the mailbox. We needed to wait a week for "Jimmy" to come 4 blocks for an estimate. "Jimmy" did not come and sent a technician who was unfamiliar with mailboxes and installation. We were told "Jimmy" would get back to us with a quote and be able to answer questions. Four additional calls and two visits to the store, it is now nearly February. Still no "Jimmy". That is ok because now there is no "customer". We went with Warman's. Perhaps a better name for Metro Lock is Waldo Lock because I hear people are looking for Waldo too. read more

The owner Jimmy is fantastic. His office is great as well, calling after-hours to give you updates for appointments. We've had issue after issue between AT&T and Metro, and it was really unclear for us as to who we go to in order to find a resolution. Of course AT&T continued saying it was not "their" problem. But Jimmy and Metro really stepped up in order to ensure our system issues were resolved. Jimmy came out and spent a few hours working on the issues, then validating the lines and where the issue was coming from. He really went above and beyond for our community, and that is amazing, and much appreciated. read more

My 4-unit building had an intercom/door access system, and new postal mailboxes, installed by Metro Locksmith this past summer. I was the primary contact on this project for my HOA, so I worked directly with Metro from initial inquiry stages on options, all the way through to the end of the installation process. I was very pleased with the customer service we received from Jimmy Goh, the principle at Metro Locksmith. He met with me early in the process to discussion various options. It took our HOA several months to deliberate and decide, at which point Jimmy met again to answer all of our questions to help us reach a decision on the final product. The full installation took two days at our building site. We were well-prepared for this, since Jimmy had told us everything we needed to know in advance. The installation went smoothly and all the people onsite who did it were professional and communicative with me these two days. There were a couple of questions I had and when I called Jimmy, he got back to me promptly. At the end, there was one minor detail that didn't get addressed for several weeks, which was the re-application of stucco and subsequent painting of the stucco to cover up the spot where our old intercom system had been. Metro Locksmith was busy with several other projects in the weeks following our installation, so this wasn't a big deal, but worth noting. Overall, I recommend them for a variety of services, including replacment of mailboxes, selecting an intercom system, discussing security options for your building, etc. read more

I have 26 properties I manage in the city and love working with them. I manage a building that recently had been broken into and the thief had stolen several unit keys which were in a secure box. I got my keys jacked in fresno (don't go to Fresno, its not worth it) so I had to get new copies of my apartment keys. Well it turns out that the gate key is mad high-security, so this is the only place that can do it, and they need special permission from the landlord to do it. well, turns out my landlord is kind of bad at being a landlord, and i spent a long time at Metro while they tried to get a hold of him, to no avail. luckily, the dudes who work there were really nice and friendly, and sympathetic to my cause. And when i finally did get the landlords permission, they were quick and cheap to copy my keys. I can only assume they do the rest of their business just as well. read more

Came in to dupe a motorcycle key and couple house keys. They did not have the OEM or the specific aftermarket key blank to copy the motorcycle key, but were nice enough to refer me to Lockworld, which would likely carry the key. I still had the workers cut out a couple house keys I needed duped, and other than not having my moto key, the workers were very pleasant and helpful. Okay, here's the deal ... I call this place on a Tuesday. And their phone system is horrible. I kept getting put on hold only to have my call ring on some other desk and then on hold again and blah, blah, blah. Finally, I get a human and I'm told that they can get to me on Thursday afternoon. Huh? Two days to wait? But, okay, what do I know so I confirm the appointment. Then Thursday comes and I take time off from work to be home and ... nothing. No one shows. I finally get a message that someone is on the way but by 10 p.m. I decide to call it a day and go up to bed. Oh, and they "close" at 5 p.m. so you can't call. On Friday morning I try to call and find out what's going on but I get trapped in their stupid telephone tag system again so I hang up and call YES! Locksmiths who get a guy out to me in 45 minutes!!
