We've gone here twice so far. This time around it was for a scheduled service which included an oil change, brake system service, and/or transmission flush. They actually told us we didn't need a transmission flush, and they talked to us when it was necessary, what to look for, etc. You better believe we're coming back here when it's time. Also, different people were incredibly patient with me on the phone as we looked, unsuccessfully, for my wheel key. The car was dropped off at 8:30 and was ready around 4 pm. Price is reasonable for an oil change (especially being on the Hill). The convenience and great customer service will keep us coming back. read more

Even though I have written several great reviews for them, I will need to retract them. We have been lied to and manipulated by the staff at Metro Motors. They have had our car since October 2021 and have not fixed it. While my car was on their lot it was hit and they never called us to tell us. We have to go up there to find out what is going on and when we do, we get lied to about what is wrong, when the car will be ready, what color the sky is. Dante and Cesar both have promised to fix the car and it is still sitting there. We are not young or well and are not able to get groceries or our medication without a car. We have eaten through our savings taking ubers and renting cars just to take care of the basics. Now we're out of money and we still have no car. Don't go to this business. They will hold you hostage and treat you like a mushroom. It's hilarious that you're apologizing but no one has called me about my car. Are you going to fix it or keep lying? And the customer service was amazing...the Manager, Dontae, called a Lyft to take me to work and when my car was ready, he sent another Lyft to pick me up!! I wanted to share a great experience for anyone traveling through the DC area or a resident. My wife and I were mid road trip when the right front bearing in our van failed. After calling AAA for roadside assistance and picking a garage from some quick road side review reading here on yelp, we picked Metro Motor as they were the closest to where we were broken down. Ben, the tow truck driver, was awesome and also happened to be from the Metro Motor team. He got us safely off the highway and over to the garage right away and was in contact with us via cell to make sure he found us a quickly as possible...awesome guy. At the garage we met Caesar and the rest of the team. Even though it was way after hours everyone was working since they had customers to serve. These guys hustle! Caesar and I had a quick chat where I tried to explain the sound I thought might be a bearing self destructing and then he queued us up to be next in the garage to see what really failed. He said to check back in an hour so we went to grab some food and in an hour checked back. It was as I guessed and Caesar confirmed that our bearing was no more. He thought he could get us back on the road the following day so we booked a hotel room and waited to hear back. Come 11pm we got a call from Caesar who had found the parts needed, drove out to get them and then was going to keep working through the night to get things back up and running! Amazing! The next morning we got things sorted out paperwork wise, had a nice chat with the rest of the guys in the garage and though we had a surprise 24 hr stop in DC, we were back on the road. Did I say amazing yet...these guys are great. There were no surprises, everything was explained clearly from what had failed to what steps were next to get us back on the road safely. The overall cost of the work was more than reasonable and considering I'm writing this review 3 weeks later tells you the quality of the repair (and that I like to test out work before I write a review). Everyone at the garage from Caesar to the cashiers and everyone was friendly, courteous and just awesome in how they treated two travelers making an unplanned stop. If you break down or if you need some work done and these guys are nearby don't hesitate. These guys are fantastic! read more

This place maintains a dogged and determined campaign against low prices. Among the highest-priced gas stations in DC (the one near the Watergate comes to mind, as does the one at 4th and Penn SE) this one is always near the top of the pile. Maybe there's some reasonable explanation for why THIS station needs to charge SO much -- but until I hear it, I will never buy gas here, and I encourage any readers to follow suit. Maybe a boycott will someday force a reasonable reduction by the owners. (By the way, just so we're clear, I am indeed aware this is a blatant example of #firstworldproblems...) read more

I have been to this Exxon plenty of times. Usually for gas but I have gone to get my car fixed one time prior to me going 3 days ago. The first time the service was great but the downfall was that they did not fix my car as I thought it should have been fixed. I dropped my car to them and got it a week later. Two days after, the car was messing up again (same issue) and they were not trying to fix it. When they looked at it again, they apparently found something else wrong with the car. It was truly a waste of my 2500 dollars. I stopped by again though just to get my brake lights and turning lights fix (figured they couldn't mess that up). I had already bought some from auto zone and had to buy more from them. The person who fixed it was very informative and made sure to tell/show me everything as he was doing it. When it came down to paying, they did not have set prices anywhere for what I got. He charged twenty something dollars . But overall everything works as it should now. read more

I used Yelper's reviews to help me find a reputable place to get the oil changed in my Mom's car. I am happy to say that Greg and Cesar did a great job in squeezing me into their schedule. Greg is a person who is there to take care of you and do it in an honest way. He could have used premium oils but he said he will check the manufacturer's manual to check to see what it takes. To my surprise the 2005 Lexus ES only needed the regular oil. The car was ready the time that he stated which is a great location to walk down and get some great food down a few blocks away. He gave me some things to look out for as far as the car was concerned but said it was in great shape otherwise. I will definitely go back to Greg because the trust factor I felt is there. Omg! Everyone at Metro motors is super helpful and so nice. Whether I had a question about my car or when my car completely broke down. That's when Dontaye saved the day!! My car was dead and needed a tow and repair and I had to get to work. I made other arrangements to work that day. I live close and told him where my car was and gave him the keys and he found out what was wrong and fixed it while I worked. How full service and amazing was that? But the last time I had my car checked for making lots of noise and a dead battery, it was a minor fix for the noise and the battery was under warranty, so they took care of everything for free (and even changed my oil at no charge!). It's so hard to find a reputable car repairman in D.C., but I think I've found my guys in Greg and his team! I was having an insane amount of road noise, so I brought my car to Greg for what I thought would be a rotate and balance of my tires. He was up front that I needed new tires, and it likely wasn't safe for me to go on my upcoming road trip with the current tires. He ordered the tires I needed at a reasonable price (it's DC after all, so you aren't going to get bargain barn prices). Of course, while this whole saga was happening, my battery died! Greg stepped up to the plate, ran some tests, and replaced my battery. They only needed one day to complete the service and Greg even followed up with a phone call to make sure things were running well the next day. Can't ask for more. He also has a really cute dog that hangs around the office and the office is clean and modern, which doesn't hurt! read more

Imagine this scenario: I just flew in the night before from Europe where I spent an exhausting week working. I'm jet lagged, the temperature has been below freezing for the past 48 hours, and my car won't start. The battery is kaput. Plus, on the same day, I have to pick my dogs up from the kennel, which is an hour's drive in Maryland, so that one of them can make her vet appointment early the next morning to get her staples out and cone removed. And, by the way, it's a Sunday! Given these circumstances, I took a chance that my neighborhood gas station would be able to change the battery in my car at 10:30 on a Sunday morning. There was only one person working at the station, and he pulled double duty - gas station attendant and chief mechanic - so that he could help me out. It took a little extra time to install the new battery because he would have to attend customers buying gas, but I was grateful he serviced the car quickly so that I could get on the road that morning. He took extra effort to help me out (even calling a few other places about their battery stock) and charging me a fair price ($30 less than what was quoted at Autozone). The guy (I believe he's one of the owners) working the Sunday morning shift saved my weekend - and allowed me to retrieve my dogs on time. Businesses are entitled to set their own prices, but I was quoted $340 for a repair that I ended up doing with a $30 part from Autozone in a half hour. I do not plan to return. Edited to include: Yes, I was not charged for the diagnosis. I asked if I would be before picking my car up and was told that it was free. To me, this does not compensate (literally) for his quote breakdown - $90 for the part and $250 for two hours of labor. Also, I *wish* I knew a street mechanic. read more

I was on a pretty long road trip from Boston to DC to visit some friends. Just as I was ready to head back. My car started falling apart. It was late Friday afternoon, I had stopped by this gas station seeing if they could help. The service manager was so understanding of my situation, he moved me up in line of the queue of auto work they had for the rest of the day. Got everything working and the cost was pretty reasonable! The oil change was done quickly and they also did other routine maintenance checks like fluids and what not. They also replaced my front light that was out and charged me less than the bulb cost on AutoZone! So A+ on the first visit. Then I had a flat tire (nail) one day and took it in for an emergency repair right away since I was literally about to leave on a 4 hour car-ride. Where do I begin! It's so difficult to find a good auto mechanic shop - so when you find a great one it's like you've hit the jackpot. Firstly, courtesy - all the staff including Mo the proprietor - are very courteous and explain exactly what is wrong and the solutions. They don't over promise on timings or costs - they are realistic and honest. Service - very good work, I got a bunch of stuff done (almost $2000 worth in 2002 Acura ) at once when I first went and I could feel the difference in my car. I have gone back for other minor issues and also oil changes and will keep going. Their hours are also convenient and the location is clean and metro accessible which is a huge plus.
