I've gotten my glasses here for 8 years and today I'm told that "Corporate " has taken over and as result their policies have changed. Mainly customers have to now pay the full amount on the spot, or be denied service, regardless of your insurance and I have very good insurance. The previous policy allows for half the cost on the spot, with the reminder due once the glasses are delivered inns week or two. This allowed economically disadvantaged people to access eye care, especially since the cost of eyewear has skyrocketed , but someone decided that money and greed was more important than to ensure the people from the poor community they service get access to eye care. This is what happens when a "mom and pop goes corporate " My advice, close your accounts with this company and find a provider that cares enough about their clients and does not place profit over people. I will not be returning and will share a good alternative to this poverty pimp! read more

Have loved the staff for years never complained about the wait or lack of parking but they confused my appointments and won't make it right So I got my family up extra early to come in from Northern Westchester Going to go to one closer to home I guess from now on.Sad that now that's they've renovated they lost us I appreciate the comments when we arrived the place was empty it would have been easy to get them in and out. it's been done ; I again ty , but working weekends taking a day off for this then to be told no is hard . I went to this Metro Optics on 9/10/22 and I had the worst experience ever. It all started when checking-in for my appointment the receptionist indicated that my insurance only covered frames that are listed from A to E. (it is not the first time I have dealt with this situation in which I am being narrowed my options without even asking me if I want to look to the other options of frames the store had available.) After going back and forth with the person at the front desk, she decided to call the manager, because I was certain of what my insurance covered and the receptionist wasnt. Once the manager comes she gives me a look up and down, almost like if I being judged by the way I was dressed. The receptionist explained the situation and after she finished talking I started explaining my side of the story. (Mind you, I had already scheduled the appointment previously and I had asked "what my insurance covered". They had said the frames were covered up to certain amount.) When I finish speaking, the manager seemed bias by recommending me again going from panel A to E for the frames I wanted. (At this point I am getting upset because they're practically forcing me to what I should buy or not. And on top of that those frames from A to E are hideous. They told me to wait whilst they were going to check my insurance. (Again). At this point 30 minutes have passed and they haven't even called my name for the eye exams. People is still coming in, and being called to the back but yet I am still waiting for someone to come and tell me what frames I'm supposed to pick. Once the manager came out to the waiting area. She told me I was able to pick any frames on the floor that dont go over certain amount. Just like I had said from the beginning. At this point I am fuming because besides having to deal with poorly trained personnel the manager decided it was a good idea to give me an informative speech about "how insurance policy changes constantly, and they needed to make sure everything was still the same" or something along those lines. While speaking, this lady manager (the same one that had looked up and down on me) handed me the breakdown of what my insurance covered and at this point I only want to leave this place because she keeps yapping and talking and trying to " school me " on how they do things. I was upset and I might ve let my emotions speak for me because then I said "is this speech going to be for free?" Well, this lady started going off on me. Calling me disrespectful, and she tried to deny me service. (Using her power of authority over me) When I asked the reasons why to deny me service she just kept mumbling and then the technician interjected and pointed towards the room where they do the eye exam so we can go ahead and finish that. In this room this technician made a statement that I believe you could get sued for. She said to me that the comment I made of "speech for free" was uncalled for. To what I responded, "this is not the first time you guys try to narrow my options, I don't want those frames I want the rayban frames that are on the other side" To what she commented "yes we say that because not all people want to pay, they only want their insurance to cover it all." I said, " yes but I am not "all people" as you say. I am going to pay for what I want" She left it alone. And I kept doing my eye exam. I selected my frames, I had the prescription for each eye too I was just going to personalize my glasses with the UV protection, Crisal rock, anti glare, polycarbonate, scratch resistant etc etc. Bill came up to be almost half a grand. And I was ok with that. But the reason I am writing this review now, is because its only been a little over a year and my glasses are scratched. I have the receipt, and something is telling me that they messed up with my glasses and they didn't put the layers they needed to. I am not coming here anymore. It's so important to vet the people you have working in your business. For my initial visit for the eye exam and my glasses I was met with a very friendly kind staff that facilitated my visit. I was changing insurance soon and they told me that I could come back and get my contacts with them. I've been coming here for 2yrs now and I recently came for an eye exam and the doctor basically rushed me out the exam. I ignored it because I assumed he did his job correctly. I used their prescription to buy glasses from an online store and the glasses hurt my eyes so bad. I went back to metro optics and told them that something must be wrong with the prescription and the manager literally just argued with me and then refused to recheck my eyes for free! I scheduled another eye exam at Warby Parker and it turns out metro optics did give me the wrong prescription and that's why my glasses were hurting my eyes. Instead of just doing the right thing and rechecking my eyes for free they tried to make me pay for a 2nd eye exam. This place definitely lost a customer. The environment has always been family friendly and the staff works around you and are very sweet, polite, most importantly have become my favorite place to find my perfect Eyewear! I brought in a pair of my own glasses-- that I ordered online and they put my prescription in them, no hassle, no problem. Lettie helps me all the time, she's been very dear to me since I've started coming here 2014. The eye dr was very thorough and had a professional demeanor. After my exam I was assisted by Lettie. She was professional, great and took her time with me. Came in to purchase glasses for my son who has astigmatism, I'm not knowledgeable at all when it comes to eye conditions as I have never needed glasses. As we enter the store we are greeted by Lettie who instantly made a connection with my son. Lettie made us feel like we were friends or even family, she explained exactly how my son's astigmatism affects his eyesight, something that not even his ophthalmologist was able to do. I went to metro optics a couple of months ago and I had quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had at an eyewear store. I was helped by Lettie and she was very sweet, but a little bit over anxious. I didn't understand why until I met her manager Wes who reprimanded her and looked down on not only Lettie but two other employees. His tone was condescending and just turned me off from the entire experience. I had chosen glasses with Lettie the first time I was there, mostly bc I felt rushed and uncomfortable. The next time I was there I was looking at glasses with another employee, and Lettie who was again being spoken to by Wes, semi freaked out because I was looking at other glasses when I had already reluctantly chosen a pair with her. the managers tone with her was (again) rude in front of me but her way of responding also made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I understand why she was upset but I shouldn't feel forced to get something just because you were upset. No one should act this way if they are in customer service. The glasses are for my face, my eyes, my comfort. It seems like she was more worried about her manager and getting the sale. I felt extremely pressured to get the glasses the Lettie chose because of how negative her manager was, and how nervous and uncomfortable they both made me. I felt like if I didn't get them, it would cost her the job. No customer should be made to feel pressure and stress over a pair of glasses. Now I am over $400 down the hole with a pair of glasses I can't even wear because the fit isn't right and they cause me migraines. Maybe this isn't how it is all the time and it was me who personally had a bad experience. And in all honesty I wasn't upset with Lettie, bc I knew she was reacting to her manager, (and if you look at some of these reviews she's amazing) but this is the last time I go over there. read more

I visited MO this week for a routine eye exam and aside from the unpleasant wait considering the amount of people waiting ahead of me to see the optometrist the staff is very nice. I had a pair of glasses that over time stretched out and while i waited one of the gentlemen working there adjusted them for me at no cost. By the time it came to choose a pair of glasses that came along with my insurance i was assisted by Lettie. She was phenomenal! Very warm and kind and helped pick the best options that would fit me. Instead of walking out with one pair of glasses i walked out with THREE! They had a special buy one get one for $99 and it was quite a catch. I'm not sure if they have that running all year round but i would suggest asking about it while you're there. When I came in for my appointment, I was asked if I needed help right away. They also have you hand sanitize your hands as you enter, which I think is a great idea. I waited for the doctor for 5 mins, and came inside his office. The doctor was extremely nice, and super funny. He made me feel very comfortable. When I was ready to go see the glasses, a sales person cater me with a lot of patience and care. I felt like I was shopping in a high end store. Service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. I waited over 2 hours to get an eye exam and what frustrates me even the most is that they will push up eye exams for employee's friends. This is just unprofessional and waste of other customers like me who wait patiently. The frames and lenses are very overpriced. You can find the same designer frames online for much cheaper. The price of the lens here is 2x more than what Costco charges (Costco gives more options for free). The only positive aspect of this place was the technician and optometrist. Went in recently for my first appointment at Metro Optics, I was seriously impressed. Despite a full waiting room, customers were seen promptly and my wait was a very reasonable 10 minutes. Upon completion of my exam, and a thorough explanation of the prescription needed, I was seen by the sales staff. The woman that helped me was so knowledgable and had great taste. Throughout the years they have had many employees come and go, however Wes has always been my go-to. He has always provided me with excellent customer service. After walking around with outdated prescription lenses for far too long, I decided it was probably time to get a new pair. I'd never been to Metro Optics but decided to schedule an appointment and give them a try. Not too long after, I received a call informing me that the doc I chose wouldn't be in and asked if I'd mind choosing another. This wasn't a problem, and I appreciated being informed. When I first got in I was weary of the number if people there waiting but because I had an appointment it wasn't too much of an issue. There was still a wait but it wasn't the unbearable kind of wait that you usually get in a lot of medical offices. However, I'd definitely recommend making an appointment; walk-ins may have to wait longer than they'd like. The eye doctor was swift yet thorough and overall I was pleased with the visit. Because I was getting both glasses and contacts I had to go back to Metro a number of times for pickups and follow-ups and each time was a positive experience. I've been going there for about 12 yrs. Yeah there's truth to the fact that some of the front desk staff are a bit rough around the edges. In the past one used to be outside all the time, but I think she's quit. I was there this week. The customer service girl Destine was a super nice, sweet girl. Not one bad thing to say about her. I optometrist were nice as well. The new manager hmmm she isn't the best. She isn't what I'm used to as far as the customer friendliness. All in all I got 2 pairs of designer frames and I'm satisfied. Probably gonna go to the new one in Throgs Neck with the management that I'm used to. read more
