So many repair shops either didn't want to bother or quoted a ridiculous, "eff-off" price just to send a message that they didn't want to work on them. He did not. Very knowledgeable and friendly "nerd" owner with a great, customer-oriented attitude. And he underpriced the competition by almost half! (My suspicion is that the others break a lot of screens doing this repair, so they build in the cost of making a mistake into their price; whereas he is careful enough and uses methods to not break the screen so as to not need to build the cost of his mistakes into the price.) FWIW, I have high standards, sometimes think I know too much, and can ask too many questions. Mike indulged me on all questions regarding a simple iPad repair and then some. (Other repair shops didn't want to talk about their methods or ideas). Cleaned my iPhone port for free, too! Very good communication of the risks and options for the iPad repair. The guys at Free CheckFix took my problem in stride and found a way to get my printer to communicate with my computer. When returning home with my working system I was trying to shut the truck door while holding the brother laser and promptly dropped the printer on the driveway and trashed it. Mark and David found a new Brother Laser and a new CPU that could run windows 11 and together they were cheaper than what I paid for the old laser printer. I've been having issues with my Samsung phone where the phone will be fully charged and less than 4 hours later, while only on standby, be totally dead. On Saturday, I took the phone to The Best Buy (I originally purchased the device at a Best Buy) in Round Rock, which is the only one of their stores in the Austin area that services the device. The "technician" tested my device and said the battery was fine and they couldn't replace it because it past their "thorough test". Not one to take things at face value, I went over to iTech in the Domain. The technician was knowledgeable and pleasant and agreed there was something up with the phone. He opened up the device (with me standing there) and to both of our surprise the battery was swollen to twice it's correct size and ready to explode. Remember all those people who couldn't get on airplanes last year because their Galaxy Note 7's were ticking time bombs?...yeah like that! New battery installed and I've had zero issues with it since. Apparently, Best Buy's rigorous test was to ask "is it a battery?" and if the answer is "yes" it passes. I will NEVER give Best Buy my business again. Not only did they fail to correctly diagnose the issue with my device but they let me walk out the door with a device that could have caused physical harm or fire damage. (and yes, I'll be leaving them a review also.) So, in short, bring your device to iTech in the domain with the confidence that it's in good hands. Best Buy....I hope Amazon puts you out of business.

The Apple Retail Store is always about customer experience, and principally getting customers to…read morethe right place and talking with the right agents. I also like that it is their design that customers are never separated from employees by a counter. You are always side by side, making the interaction personal by eliminating barriers. It's a subtle thing, but once you notice it and compare to other places, you can't unsee it. Furthermore, no one handling a customer disappears and goes in back, leaving the customer to stand there alone waiting. It's always a third person bringing a product out from in back to the two of you. Another subtle but important touch. My event today was picking up an ordered iMac (I had a QR code in my Apple Wallet), handing in my older iMac for a trade-in, and getting the Genius Bar (another QR code) to handle the free data transfer. The agent just inside opened the door for me, scanned my QRs, sent me and my old iMac to a back table, where someone else was expecting me. My new one was brought out, the condition of my trade-in was verified, zip-zap-done, and I'm directed to a middle table, where a Genius comes to greet me, generates a work order (another QR code I have now) for the data transfer and lets me know they'll reach out when it's done. My ONLY complaint about the Domain store is common to a lot of Domain stores. If you have anything heavy, there is literally no temporary parking out front to load. There's lots of free parking garages around, but now it's a bit of a hoof.

The employees had no way of knowing whether I was just there to try it or was a potential buyer, and that's what bothered me most. What if Apple just lost a sale simply because no one seemed interested in helping? For all you HP users that don't know this, there are HIDDEN screws under the lower rubber piece. I tried to put everything back together but now my laptop wasn't reading the Boot Drive. Enter Star Electronics, I found them on google and they are literally half a mile from me. All the reviews about their service and prices are accurate! I was lucky enough to he helped by Ramazan, who told me he'd do his best to recover my Hard Drive for $80 (a brand new hard drive was only $40 more). My laptop is my life, and I was very nervous about a self inflicted fatal error. Thankfully Ramazan was able to recover my hard drive and got me my laptop back good as new in about 5 hours!! I took the charger and associated chord back to AT&T because it was not working. Their response was no, they could not accept back these non-working accessories because I had exceeded 14 days for a return. Importantly, the service provider told me sometimes their accessories do not work with the newer phones. It begs the question, if you know this why are you selling these accessories. They asked me to call customer service at 611 to see if they will allow the return on an exception basis. After interacting with a bot, I finally spoke with a human who told me the exact same thing that the AT&T service provider told me. No returns after 14 days...one item was still in the box. Needless I am again disappointed at AT&Ts level of customer service.
