We have used Metro Plumbing before, and they are extremely expensive. Last month, I called them to locate a water leak in our front yard. I had already determined that the leak was somewhere between the meter and the house. When they arrived, I was told the job would cost around $2,000. They spent approximately four hours on site using a leak detector and dug several holes, but they were unable to locate the leak. Despite not finding anything or resolving the issue, they then wanted to charge us $600. I am still trying to locate the leak on my own. Over the years, I have spent close to $20,000 with this company, and based on this experience, that loyalty clearly meant nothing. Charging hundreds of dollars with no results is unacceptable. Overtly highly priced charges compared to other HVAC service. We paid +$700 for a simple check on our 2 AC units during the summer. They simply cleaned the fins on one unit with their own water hose/chemicals they did add 1 lb of refrigerant. Both units were working fine but they had some questions due to the age. The technician was thorough and did all the screen shot of test readings. I have no issue with their trained professional tech. He even put on shoe protectors before coming in the house. However, this service call had a hard "up sale" to their monthly contract. They also wanted to have their team eval for a costly complete new unit/system. Again, the current system was working. We initially accepted the year long (monthly payment) service - and the more we thought about it we cancelled. My concern is with the overt pricing set by management. I would strongly suggest asking what their fees are before having ANY type of service. This was a huge price burn and we will go with another HVAC provider as need requires (which in our real world experience is about 1 visit per 3 years.) They are not competitive to other area providers for services. I think we tried Metro due to their offering plumbing as well as HVAC - however they send different techs for such issues. We ended up having our original house remodel contractor send one of their plumbing guys to fix a slow drip in the plumbing for $120. I cringe at what Metro would have charged for plumbing after having the $700 fee for an AC check up, 1 lb. of coolant, and water/chemical cleaning of the fins. read more

metro installed a new heat pump water heater at my home 2 weeks ago, 11/20/2025 . tech seemed to do a good job, but did not install the leak detection sensor. he "said" he would be back "tomorrow" to complete the job. well... 2 weeks later, still no return tech to complete job. now im debating with metro whether the sensor is suppoised to be installed, even though the installation guide gives clear instruction on the process to install it. dont be in a big hurry... i should have shopped around. read more

DO NOT USE METRO PLUMBING. Three years ago we had a leak under our slab, so we called Metro. They came out and found the leak in the garage behind the water heater. They fixed the leak, but because they had to move the water heater to get to it, we had to buy a new one. We bought a commercial one because it's bigger, and we had to have it converted to residential. We bought a kit for that when we bought the water heater. Metro installed the water heater and converted it, and it kept tripping the breaker, so they sent a heating and air guy. We had to have our garage rewired to handle the higher voltage, which seems like something the guys at Metro should have known beforehand. After we got the wiring redone, Metro sent another guy to finish the install, and it took him A WHILE to complete the job. A few weeks ago we kept running out of hot water considerably sooner than we should have, so my husband looked online to see if he could figure out what was wrong. He determined that the thermostat was bad, so he bought and installed a new one, but in the process he also determined that the water heater was rewired incorrectly when it was converted three years ago by Metro. Swapping the thermostat didn't work, so my husband called an electrician to see what the next step might be. The electrician told him to drain the water heater and check the elements. Both were corroded, so my husband replaced them, but the top element still wouldn't work, and the bottom one was iffy. The electrician came out and confirmed that the water heater was wired incorrectly, as did our neighbor who used to be an electrician. The licensed electrician tried to test the wiring, and it blew not just a fuse or the breaker or the main but the transformer and knocked out our power and three of our neighbors' power (sorry, neighbors!) So we called Metro to come out and fix what they broke. They sent someone out, and my husband told him that according to his research and two electricians the water heater was rewired incorrectly, so the guy from Metro did a lot of trouble shooting and even called the manufacturer of the water heater (State). State told him that the rewiring was done incorrectly. They tried to charge us $700 for labor, parts, and one hour of time. They blamed us for blowing the transformer, but NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED if they had wired it correctly three years ago. The element wouldn't have gone bad from faulty cycling and overuse, the thermostat wouldn't have gone bad for the same reason, and nothing would have blown if this had just been done right in the first place. Most of the people working there are really incredibly nice, but they don't have a clue what they're doing (which is probably why the guy who rewired the water heater took so long), and Metro charges entirely too much for that. They won't take accountability for their mistakes and are trying to blame us for them (and charge us!). DO NOT USE METRO PLUMBING. read more

$$$$$ EXPENSIVE! $$$$$ This is a premium membership repair company that can get work done ASAP but you WILL pay 3-5 times the average price. You may be advised to replace something that isn't broken or buy a whole new unit when you don't need to. You are paying for the advertising and a company to post fake account 5 star reviews. Case in point: our A/C unit started failing in +95° heat in Chattanooga during August 2023. I suspected it just needed to be topped off on refrigerant and checked for leaks. The first tech unplugged the drain hose but didn't bring any refrigerant or equipment to service the unit. He did recommend and scheduled a cleaning. The house was hot within 24 hours and they were called again. The second tech quoted us 1K to recharge the unit and do a leak test. Our house didn't cool down at all and they recommended replacing the compressor at $5700, which might work, or replace the whole unit. A salesman named Tommy arrived the same day at 530 during dinner and does his sales pitch to price out a new unit and didn't leave until 930. We tell him our budget and he goes to his vehicle to work numbers. His first of six bids was almost 20K. His lowest bid was 13K. He didn't mention brands. We thanked him for his time. (Constructive Criticism: When the customers tell the salesman that the husband is a full time student and the wife works for NASA, don't ignore the wife and only speak to the husband.) Knowing this is high we called a couple other companies for estimates. A tech with almost 20 years of experience arrives and does the diagnostic. Our A/C unit is in great shape and only 5 years old. There is nothing wrong with the compressor. He installs refrigerant and the house immediately starts cooling. The test he performed clearly showed a leak in the interior evaporator coil. The bid to replace that was less than 4K. The cost for the labor and refrigerant was $319. The cost to replace the unit with a Maytag was under $9K Buyer beware. Beware! I bought a service contract for heat/air and plumbing evaluation. I had my evaluation. The guy was very nice guy. But he explained to me something about the owner/company uses some system to compare prices I guess the whole USA. I needed a pressure release valve. I know how important these are. He quoted me. Their members price 1,028.00. Best parts commercial grade. I have never paid that much for one PRV. After he left I went to Ferguson's. Bought my PRV. I told them my story. He kind of laughed said they buy their parts from them. Mine is not commercial. Long/short. I got it installed with part ($179.69) labor included $250 total They will rip you off. Beware! I wont be renewing my contract with them. They can keep the measuring system /comparing system they have It don't work here in my town. All plumbers warranty their work and are professional. BUYER BEWARE. Go with almost any other company over Metro. You will pay less than half the price, the maintenance work that should be done will be done, and you will not constantly be bombarded with exorbitant quotes for work that you DO NOT NEED. Here are the details of my 3 year experience with them: 1) Being a part of their membership program is an agreement to constantly receive exorbitant quotes for unnecessary maintenance. Literally, every time they came out to do simple maintenance on our HVACs or plumbing, we would get a quote ranging from $3K - $5K. Multiple times I called a second, trusted HVAC specialist to give us an additional quote, they *always* said there was nothing was wrong with our systems. 2) Their membership program is supposed to come with maintenance, but they do NOT do the maintenance. They're too focused on selling you things you don't need. On June 4, 2025, we had our maintenance visit, on June 6 our HVAC quit working at 7 pm. Metro was showing as closed on Google, so we called another company. Turns out, the condensation drain was clogged. Condensation drain cleaning is SUPPOSED to be done with the regular maintenance. It was not, so I was out $400 for an emergency visit AND the fees I paid Metro to ensure this kind of thing did not happen. When I contacted them about this, they refused to do anything to make up for their mistake. 3) Their prices are 2-3 times higher than others. I had them put in a new HVAC for $12K in 2022 (I had a quote in hand from another trusted company for $6K). I went with Metro because they could come out the next day, they had good reviews, and they boasted a 10 year warranty on parts and service as long as I stayed a member. I REGRET THIS for reasons 1 and 2 above. They lured me in with that 10 year warranty and then I felt stuck with them because of it. It is 2025, and I have officially cut all ties with them. Goodbye warranty. But, oh well, at least I can keep my sanity. Metro must be paying for 5-star reviews. My experiences with them have been poor across the board. Reddit and Yelp are full of reviews just like mine, and my in-laws and parents have had the same experience. Avoid this company at all costs. UPDATE: I need to address two comments made by Mackie M. 1) "We regret that we didn't have the opportunity to make things right before you chose to move on." I spoke to multiple people at Metro prior to deciding to "move on." They took no accountability for the mistake made (a "cleaned condensation drain" that clogs literally two days later isn't clean at all). I was simply told there was nothing they could do. 2) "Our pricing reflects the quality of our products, licensed technicians, comprehensive warranties, and commitment to doing the job right the first time." The maintenance job done for us was not, in fact, done right the first time, and yet pricing is still outrageous. There are *many* examples of this on Reddit and Yelp. One last thing, and then I'm laying this to rest. Their website states: "Our "We Pay Customers for Our Mistakes!" guarantee ensures that if we make an error, we will rectify it promptly and compensate you for any inconvenience caused." I had to lodge a complaint with the BBB before *any* attempt at compensation was made for the inconvenience we experienced. Called them for a clog in my kitchen sink drain... they came out on Monday, 2/12/2024. A technician named Zach came out and tried to snake the drain with their "$93 or free" promotion with no success. Zach was very kind and I was happy at that point with the service he provided, and he was apologetic that he was unable to fix my problem. Metro then called a supervisor named Cody out the same day to give an estimate on a more full-scale repair. Cody came out and wrote me up an estimate a drain replacement, plus a bunch of things I didn't really need, totaling $26k. He planned out the financing for me at $395 per month for 10 years. With their interest on financing, that comes to over $47k. When all I needed was a kitchen drain repair. I called a different plumber for a second opinion, who came out today, 2/14/2024, and he snaked the drain apparently better than Metro did and fixed it for an easy $188. Not sure if Metro intentionally tried to scam me or if they're just incompetent, but I won't be calling them again either way. read more

It was a tricky job because we had to match an existing compressor. Team Skrent took care of us, they went above and beyond and did not leave until everything was 100% right, they were the nicest most courteous guys on the planet and even made friends with our dog and kiddo. And on top of that, AFTER the whole install was done we found out they had saved us money off the estimate, a significant and welcome amount. I called because I needed my septic tank pumped. I was told they would give me a free estimate, and would pump the tank if the price was agreeable to me. The first thing they did was try to sell me a maintenence plan. I knew where the tank was so that was easy. They checked on the depth of the tank, it was 11/12 inches deep. Then they told me they couldn't give me a estimate because the tank was over 6 inches deep. They would have to send a "field line tech" out, who would give me a estimate then. I've had this tank pumped many times, without a "field line tech". The other folks come out pump it and leave, pretty simple procedure. I took the day off for Metro, if the person that answered the phone had told me about the 6 inch rule I wouldn't have bothered with them. Complete waste of my time. read more

Received a prompt call from an online inquiry, however they are not able to give an estimate for service (pricing books are kept with technicians). We have a rather simple faucet replacement, should be roughly quotable, could have provided pictures, but not something they do. They did offer to send out a technician for an estimate for a fee of $69....to estimate changing a faucet! Crazy business model for this type of business. Very disappointed in Metro. Called because we had a clogged toilet that was pouring into our garage. Sent someone to check it out and all he did was try to sell us a product for toilet. Had Metro come to give me estimates to repair a drain field for my septic. I got an estimate of over $3000 for a repair, for which I paid half down ($1600). They came, dug up two of the field lines, and punched a hole in one to see how the fluid drained down. They then stated the field line was no good, and they couldn't do anything except replace field lines. They covered up the digs, not patching the hole they made, actually wanted to charge me more for the dig and to be told they couldn't do anything. They then let it go for what I had already paid. I SHOULD HAVE gotten a refund. They didn't actually fix anything. They then proceeded to give me 3 tiers of estimates- 15k, 20k, and 25k, to lay new field lines. Oh yeah, they wanted 3 days to complete the work. After a week, I had septic overflow coming up through a hole in the ground where they punched a hole in the drain pipe. I called Budget Septic and Drain. Lee came out and gave me an estimate of $3400 to repair the drain field. He came out and in about 3 hours, hooked a new drain line to the bottom 3 fields to bypass the clogged bad 2 lines further up the yard. All is draining and working properly- at a savings of tens of thousands of dollars, and 3 hours time. Use Budget, not Metro. All Metro is interested in is markups and upsells. 2023. Overpriced. They did not itemize the bill. Charged me more than reasonable for changing a valve that was max 230 dollars. Then told me to replace the pressure valve or they would not be responsible if the problem persisted. Sold me a useless insurance that supposedly brought the bill down but was a scam to probably come 2 a year to make money of me. When checking the bill, I realized that they charged for 2 hours 750 dollars approximately and other fees that came out two 2 valves replaced for 1450. I called my previous plumber in another city, and he told me that should not have cost more than $500. They justified the bill sating that they charge one amount no matter how long they take. Good news if your problem is only 1 hour and minor, they will still charge you that fee. They also told me that they charged me all that money because the supervisor was helping the worker. Ok I was paying for the training. I guess. It took them 1 month to reimburse me that useless insurance and I had to go in person. They also gave my neighbor an estimate of $22,000 for two new outside air conditioning systems and another company in Ringold, GA did it Dec 2023 for 12,321 both units. So to start out everything was great, good price and wonderful technician named Matt sold us the unit. THE FIRST INSTALL with a crew of 3 showed up, and it didn't go good with how they incorrectly installed the unit ... placed to low on the wall. I called Matt very upset, in tears with where the unit had been placed. Matt immediately calmed me down and reassured me that the situation would be handled to our satisfaction. What a disappointment our whole interaction with Metro Plumbing turned out to be. Contacted them to install a handicapped toilet and a new kitchen faucet a week ago. We obtained all parts for their installation time that they indicated would be on this past Monday. They set the time and date... Monday at 9:00AM. We are in the midst of moving and time matters as there is much going on. No show at 9:00 AM. No call. We finally reached out to the office at 10:15 AM only to be told they were short techs and needed to reschedule. OKAY... no call made to us to let us know that? They rescheduled for this past Wednesday at 9:45 to 10:00 AM. Again... no call and no show. We called at 11:15 AM only to be told they would be there at NOON. No explanation as to the late arrival. At 12:50 PM we decided that enough is enough. Again, no call and no show and it's going on 1:00PM. I have worked in the Appliance business for a major OEM Appliance manufacturer for over 30 yrs and shocked at the service this company is providing. The tech/plumber was a very nice man, very cordial and professional, but it's a shame the marching orders they get from their leadership on "upselling". It's going to put them out of business. Never ever contact this company. We had 4 simple things needing repaired (2 faucet leaks, 2 toilet repairs) and the guy that came spent more time "finding" problems, extras that needed to be repaired. Made quotes of anywhere from $1800 to $4000 for the work I wanted plus additional repairs they thought needed done. Going with different company. They even tried to sneak in a discounted trip charge of $49 as opposed to the $89 I was expecting and the guy said "this is what your trip charge would be with the extended warranty plan we talked about" that I never agreed on. We called Metro in the evening and was greeted by a really friendly Breanna We had a little bit of an emergency but it could wait until the next day. Breanna promised to call the next morning when she could consult with her Technician. She absolutely kept her promise. The Technician came to the house at the time he promised, got the remainder of the crew scheduled that afternoon, had 4 guys working on the septic issue and was out of there with everything fixed and yard put back together. I paid top dollar for a tech who was very unskilled. He kept trying to make small talk about things that had nothing to do with me. As the plumber and his helper completed a "inspection" they failied to notice they were talking infront of my cameras. I overheard them calling a "manager to discuss what options they were going to offer me. Then the most appalling thing i have ever heard said by a service company was said. "Remember your training on ethical persuasion" i denied all options from them. I was a little upset so i call another plumbing company had them check out these options and if i needed them. Want to pay 400% more for your plumbing repairs? Call Metro! Of course the other repair plumber who only charged 25% the cost of Metro was done by a licensed, insured, and bonded plumber. I would not compare apples to oranges. Just $150 cost to $600+ Metro cost for the same repair. I know it is hard to do when you are in a surprise failure situation, but get a second or 3rd opinion. It will save you hundreds of dollars if you're dealing with Metro. If you just want to throw money at a problem, then my experience isn't going to help you. If you want to have a reasonable repair cost, then please get another estimate (or two, or three) before confirming with Metro. We wish we had! Got hustled. Sure they give you upfront pricing, but don't believe for a minute this technique was devised to give you, the customer, an honest deal. It is devised to garner the maximum profit for this company. You're on the hook the minute you call. They know this and I'm learning it. Everything that happens from that point on is calculated for their benefit, not yours. How do we know this? A repair with no warranty cost over $600 dollars. After some research we found out the repair that Metro fixed only cost $150 dollars several years before. So less than an hour of actual work and $25 in parts cost over $600 with no warranty. Yes, the total was up front. BUT with hindsight being 20/20 you realize this upfront pricing scheme is nothing but a facade for their bank account and to throw any future knowledge of how bad you got ripped off back in your face. I have an older house and I have used Metro since purchasing it 3 years ago because of several issues, they have a great home care plan that includes maintenance of your heating and air unit twice a year and a plumbing evaluation once a year. They are quick to respond and do the repairs. They have guarantees and will come and reevaluate the area if for some reason it is not correct or still having issues, which is rare but with plumbing sometimes its hard to figure out. this company charged me for work they didn't do. they gave me a detailed invoice for the work they charged me for and I paid it in full. it was underground so it was easy to hide. several months later and more damage I am told by their own tech that the repair was never done. it's difficult to believe that companies actually do this kind of thing and get away with it. now months later and a lot of time, money and additional damage to repair... they did get away with it. look elsewhere for a trustworthy and reputable company. read more
