I just had a regular pedicure and gel manicure here and I loved it! It is a bit pricey for the area but it is somewhere where you can "treat" yourself once in awhile if you are on a budget like me. I have been coming here for about two years now, since we moved to the area, and so I've had enough time to see how things go here. While there are some services I don't use and therefore can't comment on, and some I simply can't recommend (the facials are not good, sorry), I keep coming back here because of the shea butter pedicure. It's so relaxing and just the right amount of time to shut your brain off for a little while and be pampered. Ask for Carmen. She is a true asset to this spa. She is detail oriented and she gives the most relaxing massage. I ask for her every time because I know she will do a fantastic job on my toes and I will leave feeling like I was able to relax from my crazy life for a little while. Alright alright... it's about time I review this place. The first thoughts you have pulling into the day spa is that the outside is not what you'd expect. Simply a square building with minimal windows and a strange entry to the back. I shrugged my shoulders, parked and walked in. I thought, "this place has fantastic reviews?" Well folks, this is where I learned why you cannot judge a book by it's cover. You walk through the entry way and there it is... Beautiful bright white, calm, and contemporary decor entryway to the spa. A charming little table and electrical fireplace and a soft-spoken delightful receptionist waiting to check you in. Once you walk into the back it elevates the glam and keep this refreshed and airy feel throughout. My first experience here was because of a Groupon I bought for a facial. THANK YOU GROUPON. I had a lovely experience both the first time and the second and I plan to be back. I do have to say, their music would cut out and/or commercials would play during the facial. I'm so sorry to say it, but it was very disruptive to the relaxation piece of the facial. It pains me to not give 5 stars. My facial technician did her best by requesting the front turn the music back on a few times and then she decided to play it from her phone. Taking the initiative and helping make the best atmosphere for her client. This happened during both facials. I promise, if the music was on point, the experience would of really been over the top. Such a petty thing to make a remark about but when you've dedicated an hour to self care, music is important. All in all, I've never received a facial until Metropolitan Day Spa and I do have to admit, I'm addicted. Additionally, I went with my husband two weeks ago to try a mani-pedi before pushing through a review on yelp. The best part about the mani-pedi experience is, not only is the work over the top with how diligent their technicians are through the process, but the consistency is unlike anything I've experienced. I've never seen such consistency in routine throughout every nail tech's work. They all had the same exact routine and it blew me away. I love that they match with their scrubs and I love how calm and quiet the spa is even on the main floor. It's certainly high-end and it's certainly stunning. The furniture, the people, the place, and the work that they do, it is all encompassing wonderful. I've found my go-to spot and I cannot wait to bring more people to experience it. I'm not sure where to start?! I've been going to this place on and off for about 8 years now . And I had the worst experience with management today . The nail technician went really deep (as you can see in the picture below ) and very close to my nail bed. It didn't hurt the day off but the next day the pain was UNBEARABLE. I spoke to Mimi the owner and assured me to come back and fix it . I waited a week because I needed my nail to grow . When I went back eight days later , she said she would charge me and will give me 50% discount for a gel mani. I didn't come back right away because my nails needed to grow and I wasn't going to go back so she can hurt me again! I was also out of town !!!! She should've at least provided a refund or offer to complimentary mani . Instead she kept on saying I was over my 3 days, she was extremely rude and did not care about the pain I endured . I went four days ago to get a full set of lashes on they all came off.. they put on one of my eyelashes like five lashes and it weighed it down! Customer service awful and won't be going back disappointed for a first time client! So disappointed !! The receptionist called me back saying I never called sooner which I did. However, the gel manicure... I came here for quick gel mani and regular pedi since it's about 5 minutes from my job. The gel manicure started to chip and crack not even a day later [ I had did it for my bridal shower =( not cool ]. The gel polish was peeling off that same week. I love the vibe at this nail salon. They offer other services too but I can only speak about the two shellac manicures with pedicure that I have gotten here. The staff is the reason for their success. They pamper you. I think I was massaged three times while there - my calf and foot massage was the longest I've ever had, then I got a shoulder rub while my nails were in the dryer, and another rub at the feet dryer. I love this place! The first time I visited it was on a Wednesday and the second time was on a Thursday. On Thursday there was a little of a wait. Well, since Daniel did an excellent job on my regular pedicure the first time I had to return and try the green tea pedicure. The green tea pedicure was a little pricey but it was awesome. Called regarding a refund and they said well since you signed a contract and it's past the initial 3 days they won't refund me. Very clean and polite staff. Got 3 services done in 1 day all of them were horrible services. 1st they do not do surgaring its false advertisement. Surgaring does not include any sort of strip like regular waxing (I've had this service done for the past 3 years that know what I'm talking about). I had to stop her mid way to tell her this is not how surgaring is done. Im which she informed me that i was correct. But the owner imsisted that it was surgaring because she purchased it from NYC (surgaring is just lime juice, sugar and water FYI most people make it) so of course i broke out with a rash after because it was WAX!!! 2nd. Got a gel fill in and a gel nail polish - woke up the next day and every nail on my right hand was cracked straight across. Had to go bacl the next day in which they were very accommodating and fixed it. 3 days later every nail is lifting. 3rd. Got my lashes touched up (i normally go to Bling lash in NYC) my eyes burned for about an hour after it was done something that has never happened before, 2 weeks later every lash turned into my eye which never happened to me before. As they start to fall off i realize she used the individual flare lashes. Not the single lashes that your suppose to use. I was very pleased with this place! The ambiance, friendliness of staff & attention to detail when they do your nails was refreshing. I have gone to many nail salons & spas and I was very glad that I stumbled upon this on groupon. It's a very quiet salon that plays good music and has very comfy couch like seating for your pedicure. It is also very clean which is a big deal and can absolutely be a deal breaker for me. I'm not sure that I will be coming back for a gel mani though- one of my nails is already peeling off. The eyelash tech was phenomenal... she took her time and was very gentle with every detail. After my lash appointment, I went straight to go get a pedicure which came out perfectly. Purchased a "ultra-calming" facial. A few minutes in to my short 40-minute facial, i was told it would be $20.00 more for the facial I purchased. I purchased a Groupon for a full set of lash Extensions on the recommendation of a friend. My first set lasted 3 weeks and was a little chunky but overall it was decent. They use a very thick lash that feels almost like plastic so they look thicker and fuller but they are hard and can poke but you can't beat the price, you even get a discount if you pay cash. When I got my 2 week fill the lashes were half gone after 3 days and we're falling out in chunks because instead of placing one extension per natural lash she piled on like 6-7 per lash and they were weighing down my natural lash and breaking them. I went back in they fixed them up a bit for free, same issue continued with my lashes breaking and CHUNKS of glue. read more

The most important thing to note about my experience here is the gel manicure I got a (almost) two weeks ago is still in perfect condition. Unfortunately it just isn't the best manicure I've received. I forget the name of the technician who did my nails, but I know she was one of the managers. The two complaints I have are that she filed my nails too short and they are uneven. Other than that, the painted manicure itself is pretty good and long lasting. I had a groupon that included a pedicure, but I screwed that up myself due to the toe-squishing heels I wore that night. But if it weren't for that, it probably would have lasted just as long! The pedicure procedure was standard but good, no complaints. I did feel bad for the technician who did my pedicure, as the manager (seemed) to tell her she wouldn't be doing my nails as she was going to do them herself. Just seems like the place has a bit of over-management that might be unfair to lower employees (this comment may be of importance to anyone who prefers to put their money into business that treats their employees fairly). Yelp considers 3 stars as "A-OK," which is what this experience was.
