I came in for a botox/dysport treatment in jersey city 4 weeks ago. I did not see any results after 3 weeks, called to see if i can come in and they told me to wait until 4 full weeks. I waited and still no results. Called back to see if they can look possibly put a little bit more or see if they didn't do it right? The Dr. seemed like it was her first time but I gave the benefit of the doubt. The person helping me over the phone couldnt have been nicer, super helpful, scheduled me in for next week. However apparently the provider is going to charge me for another round of botox after I just paid full price and saw no results. I've never experienced this before where I purchased something, saw no results, kept in contact letting them know, and I'm going to get charged for something that may not have been fully prepped on their end. Disappointed, ive had great experiences in other metropolitan locations, this might be the JC one specifically. read more

I made an appointment weeks ago. Appointment day comes, and went to the their office, and told me they don't accept my insurance. Why would you put my appointment in and waste our time if you don't accept out type of insurance. We filled out all the information including insurance information prior to the appointment. You should've told us beforehand so we didn't waste our time and looked for a different dermatologist. read more

I was very impressed with the service here! I tried booking through the website but was a little confused so I tried calling for a little more help. They were able to clarify all the questions I had, accommodate my request, and the receptionist was super nice as well! My appointment was for 4:40, and I arrived at about 4:30, paid upfront, and was asked to fill out new patient paperwork which I pointed out that I already filled out online! I was promptly seen at 4:40 and Jalpa was really thorough with explaining everything and conscientious as well. The office was very efficient and the staff was very friendly and professional as well. I'm going to give it one star because are they even open? Google says they are open Monday - Thursday. I've called about 50x over the last few weeks, no one answers the phone but their voicemail doesn't claim they are closed, they ask for info and say they will call you back. I've left more than one message with my name and number and my issue plus ima returning patient. And I get nothing. I've even made time come here multiple times and the doors are locked. But the practice is still there, they even put their garbage bins labeled METRO DERM outside on garbage night sis what's the deal???????????? Very annoying read more

I am not sure how to begin. When I first started going to their location in Jersey City, I thought I had found the perfect dermatologist. I was seeing Dr. Jalpa Patel. At first she was very kind, but after awhile, especially this past year I started to notice the lack of care and her demeanor. Besides the fact that it is extremely difficult to leave a message or use their patient portal which their doctors don't even use, I am very disappointed with how things turned out with this place. If you are looking for a dermatologist who is empathic towards skin concerns/acne. Please do not see Dr. Jalpa Patel. I am not sure how their other dermatologist are, but based off my experience there, they don't seem to care about being there for their patients. read more

I actually never went here. I called and cancelled several weeks before my appointment since I found another dermatologist that could see me much sooner. However, that did not stop them from trying to charge my health care provider. The dermatology group is insisting that I pay the co-pay which I am not, however they now keep hounding me via email and text to pay my co-pay. I explained to them that I never even went there and that I had canceled several weeks before however they're still asking for a co-pay.This place is Shady!!! read more

Made an appointment days in advance, took the day off of work and even filled out the patient documents so there wouldn't be any delays. Obviously there is a section on the registration form you enter your health insurance info. Add mine, and the appointment was accepted. I get to the office and the not so delightful receptionist tells me the health plan is out of network with the practice and practically shoves the insurance card in my hand. Horrible and unethical billing practices at this office. I've been here before and never had a co payment. All of a sudden I'm told I have a co payment now. I contact my insurance company and they informed me what I knew the practice as (Metropolitan Dermatology) billed my service under (Clark Dermatology) and that's where the discrepancy is. If they had billed it under the physician that I saw (which is what was done in the past) I wouldn't have a bill. But ultimately they want more money out of the insurance company and the patient. A weird woman called me from 732-574-1399 and immediately asked me whats the problem? How unprofessional?! I told her what my insurance company advised that they do to fix the problem and she goes on to say you have a co payment very loudly. I responded with I'm not sure why you're yelling at a patient about a bill instead of seeking a resolution and she yells even louder at me and while I was responding to her she hung up on me! I am reporting them for unethical billing practices! Highly unprofessional staff and unethical billing practices! DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Very poor service. I came in for a inflammatory checkup and they told me before AND after the visit that my insurance covers all of the expenses. Of course that didn't happen, and when I told them about it, they said I "should" have asked about their special pharmacy where they send prescriptions to?? And when I went and confronted them about them being unethical, they promised they wouldn't charge me for my next visit. They absolutely did charge me for my next visit and called me a lair. You know I loved this MD location, they treated me fairly when the Kearny location did not. But ever since covid, they have not been returning any of my calls and I'm late on a prescription that my insurance has been waiting on Metropolitan Dermatology on for approval. Metropolitan Dermatology Jersey City claims that they will return your call after 24 hours, but I've been leaving messages for over a week and not one return phone call. I try not to leave these kind of reviews but it seems like places like these care more about their reputations than their clients who are actually in need of support, sympathy and effort from their medical providers and professionals but they are not making any effort to help those in need. read more

DO NOT recommend due to unethical biling practices. PA Lainey Ortiz misquoted coverage and cost of services which caused me to make a certain decision about my care that left me with an unexpected and unaffordable bill. When I brought this up to her she stated it was a billing issue on their end that they would fix, however when I called the billing department they stated that Lainey was incorrect in making the statement that she made and they would speak with her about the comments she made, but that I would be left with the bill. Lainey also stated she could waive office visit costs due to the circumstances however the billing department also told me that was a lie so now I will most likely receive another bill for my follow up visit where she refused to treat me based on the billing circumstances. Also prescribed expensive medications and when I commented on the cost, I was told that it was my fault for not having them send the prescriptions to their special pharmacy, when they specifically asked me to provide my own pharmacy? I ended up having to file a complaint with the NJ BME and my insurance because no one at the office/billing department would own up to Lainey's mistake. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. read more

I've been a patient here for nearly 25 years. Dr. Fox was a blessing. I made an apptmt to see Lainey Ortiz, because no one else was available. I took the day off of work, and had a 7:10am apptmt. Need a follow up appointment when i need to change prescription , and the doctor clearly mentioned that i can call her and change the medicine, they are asking me to come in and risk getting covid when it can easily be done over the phone . I have been a patient at this location for 15 years or more. I do not agree with the reviews about the office staff!! I usually don't write reviews, however a friend I recommended told me the reviews and wouldn't make an appointment. After reading the reviews yelp has available I had to write something. These reviews are not a fair evaluation of the practice before or after Dr. Urbanek. The staff greets with a smile and speaks to you with respect. Both PA's are awesome. I have never had a problem on the phone or office. These reviews upset me so much I had to put my two cents in!!! Patients should be aware they can't always get the time they want. A busy practice means it is a good practice! Sounds to me the patients are spoiled. Patients with positive input don't always come forward, I am one of them. I made an appointment after a friend of mine found some skin cancer; they said it would take months to get an appointment. 48 hours later, I saw the dermatologist, Dr. Patel, early in Jersey City, and was out in 25 minutes. It would be five stars if I'd seen Jelpa first, but I saw Dr. Fishman the first time. He was hard to understand and didn't prescribe me something for all of the conditions I brought up. He was also hard to understand as an English speaker. Maybe he's better if that's not your first language. The second time I went in I saw Jelpa because she works evenings and she both made me feel super comfortable and prescribed me something for the condition that was untreated the first visit. The people here are rude. The physicial assistant who treats you (yes no doctor saw us) could not accommodate my daughter's crying when she was having a painful treatment: she said she had no time although we waited for 2 ours to see here and she spent less than 5 minutes with us. The front desk people will call people in at will with no respect for you: after we waited for an hour a patient came to the office and was called in shortly, when we complained we were told thier appointment was before ours! We were left in the exam room for 40 minutes before the PA came. The PA did her job in a way that guarnteed we would be back for more treatment. I will never go there again. Even worse the front desk guy closed the glass window when we were complaining. One thing is sure, they take more people than they can legally and professionally handle, they do not respect your time. read more

A complete nightmare. I went there after hearing good reviews, to get a huge boil lanced. He didnt even lance it. Physician Assistant John Marin made a small incision 3" AWAY from the boil. Needless to say two days painfully later I ended up in the emergency room. I had the boil lanced and drained properly. This physician assistant, John Marin, was a laughing stock at both emergency room doctors and follow up with new new dermatologist. They were ASTOUNDED at what he had done as well as what he prescribed to me after I had to call in for medicine. Nothing was prescribed for me by him. And now I receive a bill with remaining balance. HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING! I walked out of that building the way I walked in. For sure I will let people know what I experienced here. All of the emergency room knows what professionalism he has as well as experience. And all those working at my new dermatologist. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
