Did you know the cafe is called the Sweet Spot? I didn't. They've got new hours. Weekdays 10a-5p. Weekends a couple hours earlier. If you want a cup of coffee or a cold energy drink, you can buy it in the pro shop before the cafe opens. Hubby & I had our 19th hole here yesterday Thursday after 1pm. We shared the turkey club sandwich which is humongous. We were able to get a side of onion rings at no additional cost. Hubby got a draft beer. I got a fountain soda. I'm wavering on the speed of service from the kitchen. Is there a new short order cook? And the club was cut into two halves. Whereas nine months ago it was cut into quarters which is conventional. Not trying to be picky but it'd be easier to eat if cut into quarters. The cafe is very informal. Food good portion sizes as I glanced around. We'll continue to eat here on occasion as the draft beers are a good draw.

My only picture of this lovely little pro shop.

Randomly near the area and it was a lovely day to come and check out this lovely little pro shop. It was a please to meet Mike! A true gentleman with so much patience because I had so many questions! I hope everyone can meet this welcoming hospitable great guy! Thank you again for your help and advice! Many great items with competitive pricing. I'll be back soon!

We golf at Metropolitan almost every week sometimes twice a week. We hardly ever eat at the cafe because we've had previous bad experiences. We usually go to close by eats rather than eat at Metropolitan. Today there were 12 of us and we decided to eat at the cafe since we all received a $5 voucher for the greens being aerated. Now we've been reminded why we don't eat there. Not friendly good customer service either! I ordered the club sandwich which the toasted bread was so hard because it was cold. The french fries were really cold!! Seems the plate had been sitting there for a long time. We did wait quite a while before we were served our orders. Two or three of the other 12 even had to go ask where their order was? Some of us already finished our meal and some still didn't get their meal. Honestly I'd rather use it to get merchandise at the Pro shop than eat there again! Terrible service and terrible food!

Totally enjoyable golf course located on Bay Farm Island right next to the Oakland Airport. I've made a couple of visits and totally enjoyed it both times. Solid value. The geography of this land sets up quite flat, much like the Corica Complex on the north side of Bay Farm. It's a forgiving course and just a lot of fun to play. I recommend it if you are playing in a group with varying experience levels. I'm also a big fan that they are not godforsaken cart path only. Good enough driving range, and they have a pretty solid little Bar/Grill if you want to grab a quick bite or beer.

Aug'24, no rain in months...course had standing water, including bunkers

As you can see from my prior reviews, i've been going to this place for a long time - as a long time Oakland resident, I have liked to consider this my home course. Great design, nice people and many, many great times with friends. I actually cannot believe how bad the course has gotten. I was going to leave a review a year or so ago but we started going elsewhere. One pic with a ball near a bunker was a year ago - there is no grass and i'm greenside and the bunker has a puddle...there was no rain!!! The other three were more recent. This makes me sad. It was August and, obviously there was no rain - why was the bunker sopping wet? Why was there groundcover growing into the bunker? Why did the green have a bunch of sand filled holes...and if there was some problem that necessitated that, why not put the hole up front away from it? Seriously...what is going on here? With that said, you might wonder: why the 2 stars? Very simply, it's the bloody marys.

Great Customer Service Shelly the General Manager very helpful & kind see that's what we need in this world helpful people. I am a Manager at a Mobile Home Park & I need a mechanic for my personal Gulf cart asked if they know anyone who works on Gulf Carts. She will ask their mechanic and see if he knows of any one? So, that is helpful and kind to even take this call. Thank you, Tessie Lopez -Sandev MHP

I called that other company's teaching approach Painting by Numbers because it wasn't cohesive and intuitive for me. Also, Matt gives full hour-long lessons versus the other company that only did half hour lessons which I found to be way too short so I ended up having a fractured and incomplete understanding of the golf swing. I'm over 60 years old and a slender woman. So I don't have bulk muscle for strength. Learning how to strike the ball correctly gives me the distance. Matt teaches with intuitive, cohesive instruction and shows (sometimes with props) as well as explains why certain aspects of the swing are important so that logically it all makes sense. He is such a gifted teacher to help all the details gel without my feeling its overly analytical. Proof of his teaching is I started out hitting my 7 iron 42 yards on the Trackman and am now hitting 122 yards dead straight. Also when I started out I didn't have the ball striking skills to play18 hole courses, only 9 hole courses. I recently scored 110, 112, and 114 on a par 72 course. When people learn I've only golfed for 10 months total, they can't believe it. When they ask who is my coach, I happily share about Matt being the best ever and why. Matt is confident that I will soon be breaking 100. I can't wait!

The course itself was in pretty good condition. They are renovating a bunch of their tee boxes, so the course is currently playing shorter than it normally would. It made the course a lot easier, as I was hitting driver and wedge into most of the par 4s. Ended up shooting (-1) from the white tees, which was a solid score. The course is pretty wide open, so if you aren't driving the ball straight it doesn't hurt you as much. It's great for all skill levels, and can be challenging at times but a great course to learn on if you are just starting. The greens were aerated earlier in the week so they weren't rolling true but we were able to make it work. The bunkers had a good amount of sand, and the fairways were well kept. Pace of play was on the slower side, so plan for 5+ hours to be on the safe side. I'd prefer a morning tee time as the wind picks up in the afternoon and makes the course a bit harder. My only gripe is that there was no mention of aeration of the greens on their website or when I booked my tee time. Honestly we probably wouldn't have come if we knew the greens were just aerated, especially since we had to drive across the bridge to get here. Overall, definitely a solid course that I would play again and again.
