Poor customer service... Took building manager more than a week to get back to you about anything related to the building, your unit or maintenance. Company was reluctant to put anything in writing. Did not get a lease renewal notice and had to email and call. When Calli g about end of the lease, property manager was aggressive and reluctant to answer questions. I am a current resident of the Capitol Hill building in Seattle. COCKROACHES- DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!! I have lived here for 5 months. Since the beginning of time (aka November), I noticed cockroaches coming through the sink and the walls. I reported it 3 times and the building took 2 WEEKS to respond or take any action. Over that period of time, the number of cockroaches multiplied exponentially! Neighbors in the building said they were experiencing the same calamity. When I readdressed with the building manager, he let me know a unit on the first floor was the cause of the infestation and shortly thereafter scheduled the first treatment of my apartment. Since then, my apartment has been treated 3 times and the infestation has not improved. I have had to throw away all my food and get rid of personal belongings that I found cockroaches in (books, plants, etc). Due to the unsanitary living conditions, I'm concerned for my health and the health of my dog. I have requested to be released from my lease 5 times and am facing opposition from the management company. The building has been reported to the HUD (fair housing department), the health department and the BBB (better business bureau). Despite all of this, they still will not let me out of my lease! I'm going to continue to fight for this because I will not pay to live amongst cockroaches crawling all over my kitchen, my pantry, in my freezer, in my food and on my walls in my living room. See the run one star reviews and run. The only redeeming quality is that they do not charge as much as some other places, this is only because they don't give a fuck about their tenants. If you are considering their apartments you must be getting a pretty good price. However, price aside their management team is less than adequate. Most of their buildings are older and not well maintained. Window screens have been missing from the common areas for pretty much the entire year I have been living year. God forbid a toddler falls through the third story window. Stains on the carpets in all the common areas, some old, some fresh, none clean. Particularly a crimson red one with some sort of residue on the third floor of my building. Washing machine and dryers are usually out of service or only one working at a time. With a building over 40 units that's a real pain. You can almost always smell what your neighbors are cooking, good or bad smells. Fire alarms go off almost every night because the units are not well ventilated. I have a nice view of our neighbors directly across from us, I estimate about 5 feet of distance between buildings. If you want to get real friendly with neighbors in another building this is definitely the place. My lease is coming up at the end of the month, it's the 15th of this month and I still have not gotten a renewal notice. I've been emailing the "manager" of my building since the middle of last month to get a renewal notice. Not that I really want to stay here but it currently is cheaper than the rest of the city. However, this will probably change. Of the tenants I've talked to only 1-2 have stayed here over a year and one of them is an elderly man that I'm sure they are taking advantage of. The other neighbors love to sit on the stoop and have a cigarette. I understand needing to have a cigarette but I don't particularly like walking through a cloud of smoke to work in the morning or coming home stinking of smoke at night. Our original building manager at least kept things clean in the building but they only lasted about 6 months and when I moved in they said they only just started here. After 6 years of tenancy at the maximillian I feel compelled to warn anyone who wishes to rent from this company that they are unresponsive, impolite, and quite frankly incompetent. We have been given notice that our rent will increase 400 dollars and we are leaving the apartment. When we called to ask to find out how to contact our current property manager we were told they didn't know who our property manager was and that "we were lucky they were talking to us" Do not rent from this company, we have had over 8 separate property mangers in our 6 year stay. read more

This company has been a nightmare to deal with. I finally left my apartment (The Kenneth) after 1 year. This company is impossible to get a hold of or communicate with and does not care about its tenants. After months of not getting responses to service requests or replies to emails from the property manager, the final straw for me was when the building CO2 detectors expired. The alarms were going off and nobody could get ahold of our assigned property manager and had to call 911. I did not get a response from the manager until 6 days after this happened (the legal response period is 24 hours for conditions hazardous to life) and still have never gotten a response from the company, I would like to add that I only received a response once I had applied for a new apartment and they had contacted MM for a reference. We did not get working CO2 detectors until more than a week after (during the COVID pandemic where we were required by law to stay home). It was my legal right as a tenant to break my lease at this point. I am disgusted with this company and the manger. On top of this they sent me an invoice for $13,900 for the remainder of my lease and withheld my security deposit. Moved in and requested the carpets to be shampooed...it never happened. Moved in to a leaking bathroom sink, took nearly a month to fix. Moved in to a broken fridge (literally blew hot air), took two weeks to respond after several promises to show up. Moved in to a huge mice problem...three months later and two bad attempts to remedy the problem, we still have mice. Place is a dump and wreaks of smoke. Oh and this particular property isn't zoned by the city of Seattle, so there's no parking either. Never again! read more

Believe the reviews and look at the BBB for full disclosure. 9 months after I moved out, they not only took my $1000 security deposit for "smoking" (I don't smoke, never have), and now say I owe them $90. On top of that, this company never notified me of any "balance" and had the collections agency (who never contacted me) put a claim against my credit score for $90....yes, for $90. I reached out to this company with no response in return. I wanted to handle the matter in the most respectful was possible and emphasized that to them but they did not respond. This company is the epitome of everything that is wrong with America. If you are reading this, please reconsider dealing with this company as they do not care about anyone/anything. I am going to file complaints with the BBB and the Consumer Financial Protection Agency so hopefully, hopefully this company will be penalized for their unfair business practices and help others who may have no choice but to rent to them, or are considering it. It is illegal to raise rent over a certain amount without 60 days notice, they absolutely tried to do this to me and threatened to sue me. I'm still thinking about taking them to court. read more

After my experience at the Maxmillian and seeing another Metropolitan building, I would never live in another Metropolitan-run apartment again. I lived in the Maxmillian on Seneca for a year, and I couldn't wait to leave. The only reason I stayed so long was when my 6-month lease ran out, I didn't have the time or resources to try and find another place. When I moved in, despite the property manager having plenty of time to examine the apartment, the ceiling fan was broken and blinds were missing (which ended up taking A MONTH to finally get). The front of the building is always covered with trash, and the bushes are never trimmed, so only part of the sidewalk is usable. Metropolitan's version of renovating is just to apply more paint and hope for the best. The carpet throughout the building hallways is old and disgusting. I enjoyed a lovely ant infestation in August, and then some mice in May. There were several other issues, but they're more building-specific than management-specific. I've actually been to another nearby Metropolitan apartment building on James Street, and it was in even worse condition (the "garage" was just a giant dumpster and not in any way secure -- there was actually a broken window that was easily accessible for climbing through). The location for the James Street apartment wasn't anywhere near as good as the Maxmillian, and yet the company has the nerve to have the rent at the same rate. And I, personally, feel they charge too much at the Maxmillian, considering the quality of the living space, so to pay the same price for a worse building doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Another HUGE red flag for Metropolitan: in the year I lived at Maxmillian, I had FIVE property managers. FIVE. The last one seemed to really know what she was doing, but the others were people in their mid-twenties who alternated between incompetence and just not caring. And the first four weren't rotated out; they were each either fired or decided to quit. read more

THEY CHARGED US A $200 NON REFUNDABLE "ADMIN FEE" AS WELL AS DEDUCTED ANOTHER $380 FROM OUR $800 DEPOSIT TO PAINT & CLEAN?? CLEAN WHAT?? THAT APARTMENT WAS SPOTLESS FROM ME SPENDING 4 DAYS CLEANING- AND WE NEVER PUT A SCRATCH ON THE WALL SO $200 TO PAINT IS RIDICULOUS AS THE UNIT WAS NOT PAINTED BEFORE E MOVED IN They conveniently moved our property manager, Chelsea, to another building 3 weeks before we moved- so all the assuring she did was USELESS.. and we had to deal with Erin who had no idea what she was doing. The stairs have used needles laying around, and the "secured" parking is BS. This really should be a 1 star rating but since our previous Manager Holly was very professional and helped as much as she could, I'm giving an extra star just for her assistance. We recently moved out of the Greenlake North Apartments where we lived for almost 3 years. During that time, we went through FIVE different apartment managers. We finally had to move out due to a rent increase from when we started paying $825 to a $1200 plus utilities increase. This 625 sq. foot outdated, and mold filled unit just wasn't worth it. Not to mention, its a block off Aurora ave so you get your daily crossing of prostitutes and drug addicts. When we first moved in, we were a take over lease from the previous renters. This was something the first landlord explained to us would be taken into consideration when it was time to move out since it was never professionally cleaned for us. Once we moved out, we were hit with a $750 bill (with our deposit already applied to it). They charged us for a complete paint job- something I would expect an apartment to do regardless when its time for a new tenant to move in after how many years we were there, and the previous tenants combined. We paid for replaced carpets, and dinged us for the smallest things I wouldn't expect. One of the charges was from a missing light globe that we left it right in the kitchen. Their response to this when I questioned why we would be charged for it missing when it was there was "We didn't find it until we already bought a new one." ...HOW COULD YOU NOT SEE IT?? And then we still get charged for them installing a new one! They have a hard time finding new renters to fill units now probably since the rent is too high for what it is. I'm thinking they're really hurting on money and trying to nickel and dime everyone they can because of it. I would give this management company a 0 star if I could!! I live in the Theresa Rene apartments in Capitol Hill and have had the worst year and a half of my life. Connie, the "manager" is useless. Every day she has a broken bone or her car is broken or she forgets things. She never follows through or ever fixes important things that are illegal to ignore. I had to CALL her manager and work directly with her because she is so useless. Angela was just as bad. She would write back to my emails but not fix anything. I had a SERIOUS rat infestation and she ignored me stating I was LIEING and they had no evidence of a rodent infestation. I had lost countless hours of sleep over the rats running around in my walls. There are holes everywhere in the apartment, exposed electrical, the radiator never turns off and burns you, it's a fire hazard. My back door didn't lock for an entire year, my shower scalded me every three minutes for months until they fixed it, the refrigerator was broken for a month so I couldn't use it. I only have two windows in my apartment covered by bars, with garbage cans outside the window where homeless people love to smoke crack and shine flashlights in my windows. She offered me a different unit that had broken glass, hadn't been cleaned in god knows how long, missing cabinet doors, mold, etc. and they wanted to fix the issues WHILE I WOULD BE LIVING THERE!!! I wrote her and wrote a list of what should be fixed BEFORE I INHABIT THE INHABITABLE UNIT and she ignored me because it was a "laundry list" of things that just weren't what "they do". So "technically" she "offered" me another unit but completely ignored me because she didn't want to do any work on the apartment. They are literally the WORST MANAGEMENT COMPANY EVER!!!!!! They screwed the 2 maintenance guys that ran the property.The owner is a really nasty person and so is his assistant Den. Please do not rent from them this property will go down hill very fast. Awful. DO NOT RENT HERE. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT AND WILL TRY AND STEAL YOUR MONEY. I've lived in two different buildings managed by Metropolitan Management, both of them were bad experiences. The first one was The Crest. They just need to burn that building down and start over. The managers are a joke (we had 4 different managers in the year that I was living there) and they completely ignore all work orders and general maintenance and up keep of common areas. The front door had trouble locking, so it was not un-common for a random junkie or homeless dude to just walk in like he owned the place. The security cameras also were in operable also, as the garages were broken into several times and nothing was ever done about it. Instead of fixing obvious things like this, they would paint the walls in the lobby, and do a crapppy job, in an attempt to raise the rent (which they did, A LOT). Upon move out they tried to charge us an insane amount of money for replacing the carpets, which was BS because the carpets were fine. The second building that I lived in was the Sovereign. The living situation was much better in this building, but my major complaint was the management yet again. When you move into a place, you pay first and last months rent, right? Well that's exactly what we did, paid first and last months rent. We even confirmed with the manager that we had already paid this month of rent, right before the last month of the lease. Upon move out (because they were raising our rent 450 dollars pending a new rental agreement), the manager posts an eviction notice on our door claiming that we haven't paid rent in the last month of our lease and that they shall be readying paper work with their lawyer if we didn't pay up. Well that day was today, and we are still in the process of figuring this out, but I have never had any experience like this with any other apartment management company. When we asked about him telling us that we had already paid, he said he "didn't remember having that conversation". In both situations, getting a hold of either management was like pulling teeth, it was a nightmare. There was barely any communication. Especially at the Sovereign, it would take 6 emails to get a response, and instead of handling the situation like a normal person and taking care of the situation by communicating, a threatening notice showed up on our door. This kind of shady, crappy management seems to be consistent with these apartments and I would seriously recommend taking your business else where. Do not rent with Metropolitan Management. It's nearly impossible to get repairs done, even when important appliances like the fridge break. When I moved out, they claimed my rent was $50 higher than it was and that I owed back rent and late fees which ate up the entirety of my deposit. On top of that, they had the gall to charge $220 in cleaning fees after the property manager told me the place was "sparkling." I lost my entire $1000 deposit and am working my way through the impossible small claims court system. read more

I honestly don't know where to begin with this review as it's taking me a long time to compress my two year experience with met management into a short story. For starters I lived in the Malden apartments for just under 2 yrs. two years of my life I wish I could get back. The Malden apartments on e Harrison st is a 100 yr old building which hasn't received a minute of restoration. The building is a complete fire hazard. How do I know this? The entire building isn't even grounded. There are no less than 3 dci reports out on that building alone for electricity issues. Sadly enough that's only the beginning. Mind you you can't rent units out that have open complaints on them but for some reason met mgmt does. There are numerous maintenance issues in every one of the 22 or so units. Rotting floorboards, structural damage, leaks that come down from bathrooms into rooms. The time I lived there I could actually see into my downstairs neighbors living room from the decayed floorboards that had rotted through. There is a massive rodent infestation in the basement-boiler room. While I lived there the entire basement was littered with rodent droppings and even during the day you could see the rats come and go from the unsecured dumpster area out back in and out of the building in broad day light. The building and it's core are so old you can hear everything that your neighbors are talking about or doing for that matter. When you are showering you will be scalded with boiling water from people flushing their toilets. I couldn't get through one shower in almost 2 yrs without being frozen out or scalded. Any maintenance issue you will have will go ignored. You will be made to feel like you've done something wrong if you need your unit serviced. There is no clear communication of whom to contact when you do have a maintenance concern. They change the standard and delay for as long as they can. You will receive passive aggressive communication right from the start when it comes to literally anything. Remember folks.. the building manager and met management works for you. You are not their employee but rather they are yours. You will be made to feel like you work for them. The windows were not washed from the outside for the entire time I lived there. You will have a "parking" spot in the unpaved lot which coats all of your furniture with dirty parking lot dust while your window are open. Mind that you will never have a designated spot and you will find others parked in your spot when you return home. Why? Because after 2 years of requests for assigned spots it just never happened. There will be local meth, heroin and street folks trying to gain access to the building to shoot up and smoke out. The doors are not secure and have been pried open or jimmied at least 3 times. Every apartment door in the Malden is secured with one barely operational dead bolt. All doors are chipped and damaged where those locks are. You will find used syringes in the dryer when you get your clothes. Oh yeah. For 22 units there is only 2 washers. In the first year I lived there they were out of service for 2.5 weeks. Memories of carrying my laundry to lather daddy. And they are 2 bucks for wash and 2 bucks for dry. About 50 bucks a month just for 2 people's laundry. The Malden does not do credit checks. Just know when you write that check out for the credit check there is no check actually preformed. These checks show up on your credit report. Never saw one. So you never do know what your neighbors may have been arrested for.. Chelsea made me feel like I was working in the gulag. The most paranoid, passive aggressive women I've ever encountered in my life. She will be sweet to you in person than literally hours later will start with the passive aggressive texts and emails should you voice any concerns about your unit or the building. Your "cozy" one bedroom apartment is about 400 sq ft. And it comes with a 1650 price tag. No amenities, no dw, w/d, sink disposal, bathroom vent, or anything. The studios rent for 1350. They are about 275 sq ft. About the size of a bedroom. If you are still reading this I hope you find another place. I know that sometimes you just need a place to go. Don't do it. You will remember this story. Told you so. Run for the hills. This is absolutely the worst living experience I've had in 40 yrs. read more

Because of major leaks, water damage, and mold, which our apartment manager refused to fix for over 40 days, our apartment was shut down by the city and deemed un-safe. The inspector found "conditions that are considered high hazard as described in section 22.206.260 of the Seattle Housing and Building Maintenance Code. These conditions represent a threat to the safety or health of the occupants or the public, or an imminent hazard to the extent that people in or around the building are in serious jeopardy of life or limb." This was posted on January 18, 2017. We moved in to the apartment in mid October 2016. Our apartment (4840 California Ave SW Unit 41) was also found to be un-safe and not up to code in August 2016 by the city inspector and the apartment company was not supposed to rent unit 41 out again until it was brought back up to code and the city inspector verified that it was up to code. They never invited the city inspector back, so they were not aloud to rent the apartment out regardless of its state, because it had not been re-inspected by the city inspector. Knowing that unit 41 was not up to code and not legally aloud to be rented, and furthermore not safe, Jessica Dorsey and management still decided knowingly to rent the apartment out to a family of three with a very pregnant woman and a 1 and 1/2 year old toddler. Because the city found the apartment to be of such health risk and hazard, they said we had less than two days to move out for our own safety. Not only had we been living in an un-safe and illegal apartment for three months, but I had to take time off work to re-locate with no notice, rent space and trucks to move our stuff into a storage unit we rented with one days notice, stay on friends and families couches with a baby, and because of this big to do and stress, missed the deadline for applying to grad school which I was planning on doing during the time our apartment was deemed a health hazard and shut down by the city. Jessica Dorsey also refused to every give us a copy of the lease, when we signed the lease she said she would get us our copy to keep the next day, and we have many emails since then starting the week we signed the lease asking her for a copy of our lease, which she never provided, as documented in emails. read more

It was a great day in Tacoma, on a Sunday, late October, when I stumbled onto the Carlton Apartments. This was my fourth trip to Tacoma looking for a place before I settled on this nice studio that allowed large dogs. I signed a 6 month lease, not knowing if I would like living in Tacoma, when the nightmare began. I now have been here for almost 8 months, my rent always paid on the 1st and I have abided by all the rules of my lease. Yet -- now I'm going on my fourth apt. manager here who has now served me with an eviction notice! WE -- as tenants, rely on the managers word regarding wither or not that this place we're looking at is suitable for our needs and comfort. So we ask many questions and get lied to! Their only interest is money and getting the place rented out to anyone with a half decent credit rating and minimal background check. They take no interest in your concerns or needs. So WE -- as tenants, pay upfront a security deposit, 1st months rent, (sometimes) a pet deposit, a pet monthly rent, a non-refundable cleaning fee and last months rent. This can easily end up costing a tenant thousands of dollars just to get into a place that you're taking the word of from a lying manager. Then you spend your FIRST night in your new home with exhaustion from your move and wake in the middle of the night finding that you've just made a huge mistake! (remember) It was a nice Sunday when I saw the place so all the damn idiots who live in this building were out! It has been complaint after complaint from me to management, to corporate Metropolitan Management Company, to calling the Tacoma Police and a constant battle for me NOT TO BE WAKEN UP AT ALL HOURS OF THE LATE EVENING AND/OR EARLY MORNING! SO BEWARE that all of WA State with the exception of the City of Seattle has a "NO CAUSE" or "AT WILL" for Apartment owners to serve you an eviction notice! Yet -- WA s law for Landlord/Tenant Issues states that a Landlord cannot evict you if you place a complaint with them! What's wrong with this picture? I lived in the Stonecliff Apartments in Belltown for a year, and while it's an old building and the updates that have been made are nothing special, I enjoyed living there and would likely move back in if I were to return to the Belltown neighborhood. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that there were renovations going on most of the time I was there that entailed a lot of entering of the unit, construction noise, etc, to the point that there were times when I felt we tenants should have gotten some kind of break for the inconvenience. However, I was always given proper notice if someone was going to need access to my unit, and when I needed maintenance done (broken light fixture) there was no hassle and it was completed within a day or two. When I first moved in, the property manager, Gary, didn't require that I pay last month's rent although my credit wasn't perfect. I paid my first month, a deposit, and moved in 2 days after applying. I was also able to pay a pet deposit in installments, which was very helpful. Now, these are the kind of "deposit" that is actually half fee and half deposit (I've seen more and more of this over the years I've been renting), but the half that was refundable WAS returned to me after moving out, minus a carpet cleaning fee. I was even able to get the check reissued to me after a problem with my mail forwarding prevented it from reaching me the first time! read more

I have been very disappointed by the recent change in management. Jamie, the previous manager, was amazing. She was quick to respond to all issues and took very good care of the tenants. The new manager, Jason Barker, is horrendous. He does not respond to calls, emails, or text messages. I called him three times, emailed all of his accounts, called him at his office, and only received a response when I sent him a text message. It took me a week to get a response from him. He has been extremely unhelpful and reflects very poorly on the company. If I knew what I know now this management style, I never would have moved in to this building. read more

Do Not Rent from this company!! If I could give a zero for the rating I would. We had plenty of problems on move in to Interbay Terrace Apartments (the apartment was extremely dirty for one when we were told it would be cleaned before we moved in and there was an issue with the water bill not getting paid by the company and the city was threatening to evict the tenants because there wasn't going to be any hot water) and the place was not kept up very well during the year and a half we lived there (except for a brief few months were we actually had a good manager but he got fed up with everything and quit). The grounds were dirty, tenants were moving in that were using drugs, tenants weren't picking up after their dogs, people steal other people's mail, etc. But now we're experiencing A LOT of problems after we've already moved out and out of state for that matter. During the time we lived there we had 4 different managers and for a few months we didn't have one at all. But there was a change during the time we were moving out and we were not notified that we needed to contact the new manager by the previous on-site manager. We had done everything right: given notice, asked for a check-out cleaning list, requested further information if we needed to know something before move out, asked for an invoice for pro-rated rent, etc. etc. We were not given any other paperwork and paid our rent for the 9 days we lived there during our last month and moved. Now they are telling us that we moved out before our lease was up (we signed a 6 month lease in 2011 and have been on a month to month basis since), that we didn't do a walk though with the manager (which we were not notified that we needed to do that), and that now we're going to have to pay for the rest of this month and forfeit our deposit. At this point with all the problems, they can have our money just to get this over with. Why did we stay, you ask? Because most of the neighbors were nice (but all of them are moving out now too) and it was located in a good area of the city, close to work for both of us and near a lot of things to do and it was a safe area. If it wasn't for the management company it would be a decent place to live. But they lie, cheat, and steal. DO NOT rent from this company!!! read more

Metropolitan Management Co. may want to put a little more money into training their building managers. Since living in the Westminster at 903 9th Avenue, there have been 4 managers in 5 years. This latest being the most lazy and arrogant of them all. He complains about keeping the building in a clean condition by saying that he is a "part time student at Community College". He has done slick underhanded things to tenants and it seems that he has no back bone when pulling his dirty moves. If you want to be in a building that is cleaned regularly, vacuumed and good forbid does not smell like wet dog. This is not the place. Met Management has been the best company to work with! I dont know what all these other people are talking about, maybe they had a bad building manager or something. I just started renting at the Interbay Terrace Apts, and couldnt be more happy. The building management is very friendly, all my apliances work great, and i have a, awsome view! It comes with free parking, they're pet friendly, and dont have any breed restrictions. Overall, I think this is the best company I've worked with. This is the second building I've rented from them, even tho it is so "bad"?? Just take all of what you read on here with a grain of salt. met mgmt isnt such a bad company to work with. read more

Me and my friend just went to checkout an apartment (47+7) managed by Metropolitian. we were really impressed by the apartment and how we were treated by the leasing agent Sandra who is also property manger out here. The service provided here is lightning quick for any maintenance request you have and Sandra is almost always immediately available if you have any issues on the apartment premises. I will recommend this place for good management and modern architecture. read more

Rented a unit from this group at John Alden on a month to month lease. Location was great. The property manager, Chelsea, was superb and was quick to respond to any issues or questions. The price was about average for the area. Would definitely rent from them again. read more

I received an incorrect billing statement when I moved out, and I have been trying to get it corrected for nearly two weeks. I am disgusted by this lack of professionalism. I lived in the Biltmore Apartments on Capital Hill for 3 years and I now live in the Cinebar in Interbay. The Biltmore was the nicest building in Seattle and Bill the resident manager is one of the nicest people I have ever met. The landscaping was always clean and so was the inside of the building. I don't really understand what the bad posts are about. My experiences have been great so far and I have no reason to believe that I won't be living at the Cinebar for at least another few years. read more

oh boy, have i waited a long, long time to write this review. you'll notice that this is not the first, and undoubtedly, will not be the last one star review Metropolitan "Management" has. there's a very good reason for that. this is not a management company. they're nothing more than heartless, money hungry people who do NOT care about their tenants. we moved into their Newport Manor townhouse in Bellevue in June 2015. From that time until we moved out in April 2017, we have dealt with about four different property managers, all because the ones prior to each kept leaving, so it was impossible to keep track of who we needed to speak to about issues, and whenever i tried contacting the main office, their first response to anything was "did you speak to the property manager?" no, no i didn't, because i have no clue who the hell the manager is. at one point, our property manager lived right next door to me, but no announcement was ever made. this would have been helpful when i accidentally locked myself out of my unit and needed to break in because i had no one to call, and of course, calling the main office was useless because it was a weekend. it was only after i broke back in did the property manager (or neighbour, as i only knew him as) asked what i was doing. when he said i could've simply come by his unit, i immediately asked "why didn't we know about this?", to which he replied "i don't know, i thought someone told you". isn't it your job to notify EVERYONE? on top of that, i had a transition of careers during january 2016, to which i notified the main office and told them, "i WILL be late in giving you the full rent cheque, but i will provide proof of me receiving paycheques from my new employer, and i agree to pay late fees associated with not giving the rent payment on time". and i was ASSURED that this would be ok. without them even waiting for me to receive my second paycheque from my new job, we were served eviction papers. as a US Air Force veteran who wasn't even a civilian for an entire year at this point, i was absolutely appalled at how quick they were to try and force us out without ANY understanding of my situation. i have been stationed in foreign countries, and i received more sympathy from landlords in countries i didn't even know the language of when i fell on hard times. TO TOP THAT OFF, once they FINALLY agree to allow me to pay them late (again, because they agreed to pay them late once before), they pawn off the legal fees on me as well (yes, it's in their contract, but they went back on their word when they agreed in the first place to allow me to pay late). i explained to them exactly what days i would be getting paid and what days i would be sending them payment, and they knew exactly when they would be receiving their money. this decision was made AFTER THEY RETURNED A MONEY ORDER I GAVE THEM WHEN I SAID I WOULD GIVE IT TO THEM, AND THE PROPERTY MANAGER SAID "THEYRE NOT TAKING IT, THEYRE GOING TO EVICT YOU". on top of everything else, getting them to fix anything is a joke. we had a leaking downstairs toilet that i called about, and of course, no one came to fix it, leaving me to do the repair myself. i called REPEATEDLY to get the outside water spout fixed as it was leaking, but after a month and a half of waiting, again, i did the repair myself. the current property "manager", Terasa, couldn't even be bothered to bring by new kitchen lights AS SHE PROMISED when i told her our kitchen lights when out. god forbid the communal washer and drier worked for longer than a month before it was broken for two, even three months at a time (the last time it broke down was in January of this year, only to be fixed in late March). the parking lot situation is a joke: no assigned parking spots, which in itself doesn't bother me, but the fact that NO ONE respects the lot there makes in unbearable to park there. when you have people blatantly parking in no park areas, or areas NOT DESIGNATED as a parking spot, and a useless property "manager" (Terasa, again), tells me "well, they can park there because its in the parking lot", it does nothing but brings my piss to a boil. now i have to spend extra time trying to squeeze my car out of my spot because someone decided to park behind me in an area that is NOT designed for parking. there's a spot OBVIOUSLY designated as a no-park zone, but what do people do? park there instead of parking on the street. what if an emergency ambulance needed to get through to a unit, or bring a gurney in to a unit? they simply wouldn't be able to. what if someone in the unit had a wheelchair or was handicapped in some other way? how would they get by? but does any of that matter to them? OF COURSE NOT. i won't even get into detail about the knocked over mailbox that laid inaccessible to mailmen and tenants alike for four straight days, because our mail isn't important to them. Long version: This is the only review where I wanted to give less than one star, but can't. I moved into the Maximillian Apartments last year in a pinch. There were not other apartments available in the area at the time that suited my needs and I thought $920/mo was pretty exorbitant for a dumpy old 250 sq ft apartment in a run down building with worn carpet and peeling paint/wallpaper and dark hallways, but out of desperation I took it, planning to only stay six months. The apartment itself had tacky old 80s vinyl peeling up in the kitchen, cabinetry was painted black with chips of red showing through, the baseboards had been chewed by an animal,and the bathroom sink was some ugly, cracked, rusting, dripping relic from the seventies Alice, the manager at the time, said it would be ready the next two days. I said really? So you will have it cleaned and painted and ready to go? It seemed a little soon but I took her word for it. When I went to go move in, it was missing mini blinds, and it was dirty. It took Alice two weeks to get me the mini blinds, and when the arrived, she simply left them at my door, expecting me to install. My boyfriend was nice enough to jump in and do it because Alice was not returning calls at this point. I lived here from Sept 2011 to April 30th, and during this time, I had five different managers. One was a hipster kid who let DOG TURDS rot on a stairwell floor for over FOUR months. There were burnt out light bulbs that made the halls dark and ominous that never got replaced despite asking. And then there were the mice. I started noticing mice in my apartment around March. I called hipster kid landlord, and asked if other people had reported mice too. "Yeah, it's been a problem," he says, "but the management won't do anything about it. Besides, I'm not the manager anymore." I asked him who I needed to talk to and he said the new manager's name was on a piece of paper near the rent box. Turns out the only paper near the rent box with a number on it was the sign that hipster kid had never bothered to replace with Alice's number. So I called Metropolitan Management. Repeatedly. No one returned my messages, nor would hipster kid. So I had to wait a week for somebody to post the new number. The new manager, a lady, I ask her if she ows about the mice, and she was totally oblivious. By this point I was three weeks away from my move out date. She promised to get the mice taken care of but I knew in my heart at this point that I couldnt trust this company as far as I could throw them. I actually had mice crawl into my pillow two different times and chatter sweet nothings in my ear. They would crawl up out of the burners of my stove and onto the stove. For the fun of it, I continued to follow up call new management for the next week and a half, asking when the exterminators were due to arrive so I could house my rabbit appropriately, but she never returned my calls, because she got replaced by ANOTHER manager. At this point, I know I am going to need to replace the carpet because my rabbit unfortunately did a number on it. I wanted to talk to them to see what we could work out, especially considering the mice issue and hygene of the apartment when I moved in. I call Metro Management again to find out what manager I am supposed to talk to now, and no one would return my calls. Don't know who I am supposed to do a move out report with. Don't know how to turn my keys in. By the time I move out, there is another manger but I don't know this. So I wait a few more days for Metro to call me, no one calls, and I write my new address on an envelope and try to fit it in the rent box slot. They do eventually send me a move out report, in which they claim I owe them $350 for 8 hours of cleaning, so they are keeping my deposit. Who charges $43/hr for cleaning??? The kicker was the $863 bill for replacing the carpet. We are talking maybe 150 sq feet of carpet to replace at the most. Guess who doesn't return calls when I try to contact them, and then sends me to collections seven days later: these guys. I ended up paying the bill so I wouldn't ruin my credit record and rental reports, but I am really craving justice for these offenses but doubt it's ever going to happen. If anyone has suggestions about how I could get some of my money back I am all ears. read more

DO NOT rent from this management company! I rented a unit in one of their buildings and am still suffering from the consequences. It took over 4 months for them to make repairs in my apartment to enable me to have hot, running water in my kitchen not to mention the unsanitary apartment conditions and pest infestations I moved into after paying a non refundable cleaning fee . They do not refund your deposit even if you leave the apartment in better shape than what you moved into and in my case charge you for damages from previous tenants. read more

NEVER EVER RENT FROM THIS MANAGEMENT COMPANY. The manager at the Snowdon offered a studio bedroom to me available Mid May. She mentioned there was a man in the process of being evicted. This was a red flag, but I was promised that the apartment would be available no later than June 1st, and that May 25th, our arrival date, would be perfect. I confirmed this date over and over again. 3 weeks before we were supposed to move in, I called and gave our arrival date and the manager said the current tenant was moving out as we spoke. I heard nothing more from her. 2 days before we were scheduled to arrive, and the day my husband and I completed our cross country drive to Seattle, I called to confirm our arrival date. When the manager answered the phone, she proceeded to tell me that the tenant had not in fact moved out, and that the Sheriff would need to be called, and that the unit would not be ready for at least 2 more weeks, if at all. The manager had not called to inform us f this, so we were effectively homeless. We promptly decided to back out, and asked for the $680 cashier's check holding and application fee to be returned to us. The management company then went back and forth with us for 3 weeks, first claiming they would send a check, then telling us we needed to cancel the cashier's check on our own (not possible when your bank is not local), telling us they lost the check, then sending us a PDF copy of the check, then subsequently claiming they never got the check. All throughout this process, the management company never contacted us, we had to contact them every time we needed something done. They were, in essence, trying to steal from us. My husband is fortunately an attorney, and was able to warn and inform them of the illegality of their actions, and eventually we were sent a check, which only reimbursed our holding and application fees. The management company never even offered to compensate us for the cost of having to store our belongings until we found a new place, nor did they apologize for the massive inconvenience and stress they caused us. This was a nightmare I hope no one else has to endure. This company is the most unprofessional, uncaring, borderline criminal group of people I've ever dealt with. read more

These people are terrible at their jobs. I contacted my property manager about my lease renewal and my was told that they had never updated their system to reflect that the previous owner had moved almost a year earlier. Furthermore, this property manager continued to promise to contact me back on specific dates regarding the information i had asked for, and never once actually contacted me back, not even to say 'Sorry for the delay'. If you are a professional anything and you tell your client you will call them Friday, you call them Friday. When I attempted to contact my property managers boss, the same thing. I was told he would call me back by end of day and nothing. I do not recommend renting from these people if you expect accountability to the people you are paying tons of money to every month. Neighbors complain of maintenance requests ignored while rents are raised. Overall, I am not sure why I am paying a property managers salary when said property manager isn't even doing the most basic duties of their job: knowing who lives in their units. read more

I cannot speak for any other properties they manage, but I lived at the Maxmillian Apartments on Seneca and I would not recommend moving into this building to anyone I know. It is very poorly managed, under cared for, and very much so not worth what they are charging. The unit was painted very haphazardly, as if they just threw the paint onto the walls and cabinets without any thought. This type of shotty workmanship resulted in basically every kitchen drawer, and every door (including the bathroom) in the unit, being unable to shut properly. The sink in the kitchen could barely function without water splashing all over the very limited counter space available, which resulted in very obvious areas of water damage on the counters. On multiple occasions I walked in the front door and saw a large hole in the ceiling where water was leaking down into a bucket on the floor. I also, on occasion, would come home from work at night and have to shuffle past a junkie shooing up on the back steps. Often hear neighbors dogs parking for extended periods of time. For all of this, you have to pay in the ballpark of $1300 a month, not including your electricity or gas bills. read more
