I went to this place to have my laser treatment in April 2012. Got a deal from the Capitol deal, so wanted to try it out. The person who owns this place also shares it with his relatives, who are dentists right next to the spa. Having said that that, the appointment was on time, and the technician was very good - explained everything to me in detail, was patient and cooperative with me. It is so hard to schedule appointments! If you have an appointment and can't make it for, you're pretty much screw because your next appointment will be 1 to 2 months out. Thought I would not have to deal with them after my 6th treatment BUT hair is still growing! Good luck, unless you're getting the unlimited package! Now, I wish I have read the reviews before going there ! I had to reschedule my appointment from a Monday 4:30 to a Friday 4:20, and to do so I had to call several times, put on hold for long periods and then wait 2 days to get a new appointment, when Friday comes the receptionist calls me at 3:30 to tell me that I was 10 min late for my appointment..I was surprised and told her that I'm supposed to come in an hour with no minimal consideration from her, she said that there was nothing she could do and that if I wanted to be squeezed somewhere after 4 I would have to pay for the treatment, which I could not understand since this was not my fault at the first place but actually theirs.. I live just 5 minutes away so I went to see them, when I asked for the manager she said that he was not there and that she can not give a phone number to contact him..after a small discussion, she said that her manager is in a meeting and that she will go talk to him to find a solution, came back after 5 minutes and told me that he said that he will revue my case and call me back later on...well guess what ? They never called back :) which is weird because when they were previously trying to sell me services they would call almost every day :) So..if you want to be treated decently ONLY when they are trying to sell you something..this is the place to go :) ! read more

BE CAREFUL. Before you spend your groupon with them. They will take your money and won't honor all the sessions and on top of that try to charge you for something you already paid. The staff doesn't know what they are doing. They are always running around trying to get answers and looking for the Boss who always says no to everything. He has no customer service skills. It's a modest place, very laid back and young front desk which can appear a bit too casual, don't be fooled they do good work, they pack clients onto their books which tells me their good. I've been going for a couple of years for hair removal. The shop is always clean, my hair removal has been very effective, after buying 2 packages of 6 for a very low price I've seen only 2 or 3 hairs return after a year of zero treatment, and that was due to pregnancy. I purchased another 6 to begin a new section of hair removal 1 large lower leg area for $199 and my Esthetician Maria did an awesome job. My previous tech was a nurse named Jillian who opened up her own place last year. She was so smart and professional, super kind. Maria too is friendly fast and professional. This has and will be my spot for Laser until I'm completely done with this process. Sometimes you don't have to pay a premium for effective services. BEWARE! Their unlimited package is not really unlimited for a year! I have been going for 9 months now and between canceling my appointments because their laser keeps breaking down and not being able to get another for a month later is ridiculous! Now my hair is back to how it was before I got started and I am on my 5th visit. Have spoken to the Owners and they offered me a free visit but I can't even get in to get the ones I purchased done. Location: Zero stars. As others have mentioned, this med spa is inside a dental office with no signage on the exterior. The last time I was there was a year ago, so hopefully they have rectified this. I drove back and forth several times looking for a sign for the med spa and finally stopped into the dental office to ask for directions when I realized that the spa was in the dentist's office. Interior: Two stars. The waiting room is clean. The treatment room appears to be a storage room with boxes stacked everywhere. The treatment occurs in a dental chair. Service: One star. I did not have any issues with the receptionist that worked there a year ago. She was nice. The technicians that I worked with were nice as well. My biggest issue was with the office manager and the fact that everybody that I encountered tried to sell me HARD on getting additional treatments. I had to say no four different times PER treatment. The office manager even pulled me into his office to give me a "great deal" that they were offering (basically the same pricing that the Groupon/Coupon sites were providing). This occurred almost every time that I had to come in for a treatment. It would make sense for them to do the hard sell towards the end of a series of treatments... but to do it every single time (I had 6 treatments) was too much. Every time I had to go in for an appointment, I knew that I had to get ready to say NO THANK YOU, NO THANK YOU, NO THANK YOU and NO... REALLY, NO THANK YOU! over and over again. Time to come up with another sales tactic. Quality of treatment: I've been to other Med Spas. I've had very problematic areas see a significant improvement within 5 treatments. I went to Metropolitan Med Spa to treat an area that is not considered to be difficult and after six treatments, I see little to no improvement. read more

For laser hair it's ok - very painful compared to others but does seem to work. Unfortunately, they talked me into a vein package and completely burned my legs - looked like someone took a cigarette and burned me - and did not treat the spider veins. It was not because of their machine it was because the tech did not know what she was doing - these burns lasted months and took over a year for a few of the marks to go away. What's worse is when I told the owner he did not care! I had to wear long pants or capri's during summer since my legs looked diseased. How awful. I would never recommend this place. read more

Please be careful - the office cites that they are NOT medical professionals and will not take responsibility for any damage done. They do not consider people "patients," but instead contractual agreements!!! My mom signed up for laser treatments with her friend to help with sagging skin and minor spots. Starting after her 1st treatment, she expressed concern to the technician that she thought there was obvious darkening of patches of skin on her face. She spoke with the office manager and they recommended they switch the laser settings. They convinced her to continue, saying that everything was "coming to the surface." There was a second meeting with the office manager because there was such a startling difference between the first and last treatment - such severe hyperpigmentation. He denied the first meeting took place and kept stating they are not medical professionals and to seek treatment elsewhere. I understand that there is never a 100% guarantee, but when we cited our consultations with each of the two technicians before each treatment, he said they are "entitled to their own opinion." After a month of speaking back and forth with his technician, we called back to be informed by the office manager that he was surprised to hear from us since she completed her treatments and that was that. Unbelievably disorganized, rude, and worst of all, sneaky management. They said she did not wear enough sunscreen and that she came in with that amount of hyperpigmentation on her face to begin with. Please go to a professional dermatologist's office to be treated instead. I have no comment in regards to hair laser, but considering that they are dealing with people's aesthetic expectations, I expect it is important for most people to be concerned about their resulting appearance. My mom is so distraught over a huge patch of hyperpigmentation and takes 30 minutes to try and cover it up each day. All this because they are a little cheaper than the rest... read more

HORRIBLE experience! I would give this zero stars if possible. I have scars now (it's been over 10 months now from my last appointment) from the technician who did the initial laser treatment by putting the setting too high which burned my skin and then became hyperpigmentation. I've had laser hair removal treatments from Vivia Center in McClean in the past and had beautiful results with no skin problems such as burns and they give you an option to use numbing cream for an extra charge. The livingsocial deals for this "spa" is what drew me in but I learned the tough way you get what you pay for. Just pay the extra money and go to a better facility with professional competent staff. read more

Worst and most unprofessional place ever. I would highly warn you against going to this place. Although I did not get any service done there, the business is being operated by several incompetent folks. Their technician cancelled on me twice, the day before I was flying out of the country and they did not have any backup technicians. To add the cherry on top they refused to issue me a refund after several calls and text messages and asked me to get in touch with my credit card company and the lady threatened to sue me if I wrote a negative review. read more

I purchased six sessions at a Groupon price, three of them through Groupon and three of them in the office. The first session I went to I arrived 10 minutes early because I assumed there would be paperwork. I was sat on a couch and ignored for 10 minutes, handed the paperwork at my appt time, and then waited another 20 minutes for two people to finish whose appts were after mine but were shown in before me. Once I did get in, the technician was extremely pleasant, talked me through the process and took the time to hear what I was looking for out of the experience. I was not so lucky with the technician on the 2nd appt. I don't know her name because she never introduced herself. She asked me how I was but I know she did not hear the answer because she launched straight into, "So what's going on with your face?" That was embarrassing and offensive. She did not listen to me when I said the last tech had started higher up on my abdomen, and she missed a spot in the section that she did do because she only spent about 30 seconds on the session total. The entire time was trying to sell me more sessions through humiliation about how I look. I have years of sales experience and I can tell you that that is never the way to get good numbers. When I went back out to the receptionist she was very pleasant and had a much better sales technique, but the tech followed me out and decided to tell the receptionist about the delicious waffles she had for breakfast literally in the middle of my sentence. I have 4 sessions left and at this point I dread the thought of going back, and do not even want to fight for my money back because I would pay to never be put through that again. I bought 6 treatments through Groupon. I have gone 4 times so far and have had a great experience. They have been very helpful and my underarms have been pretty much hairless. I have 2 more treatments to make sure we got everything. There is very little pain and it is a quick process. My appointments are always on time. I also find the technician to be professional. People who actually do the laser treatments are nice but the one of receptionists has been consistently rude; phone skills/training on customer service is sorely needed. Hard to get an appointment and I have not noticed a difference since starting treatment. Prices are only good if the treatment works. I have not had the experience of other people. Once I complete the treatment I paid for, I will not be going back. Cannot stress enough the importance of having pleasant people at the front desk and those who answer the phones. OK, for the time I have been with this place, they sure do have a lot of turnover with the technicians. I bought another package. I finally found Coralee who was meticulous, efficient and knew what she was doing with adjusting the energy of the machine. I loved her, then I went away for work only to find out she is no long working. = ( I had some other new girl and she didnt know the machine as well. Didnt even continue the same settings as I had previously. Just started over. Then to top it off, I was late for my appointment and another customer came after me. She took the other customer and the whole time you can hear her complain about me to the other customer, I mean it was like a 15 minute session and that's all you could hear and I was sitting at the couch in the waiting area. The new tech did take me after the other customer left. But still completely unprofessional and not knowledgable about how to do her job. Why go there now? Quality / knowledge of the staff has gone down. read more

This place is TERRIBLE.. from the receptionist to the techs to the owners. They overbook appointments constantly, have power outages or their machine breaks, which leads to more overbooking and results in cutting down session times, and not to mention rescheduling technicians at the last minute. There's only one tech that is knowledgeable and experienced. Consider yourself lucky if you are able to get the one good tech; otherwise, be prepared to have your session rushed and get burned. Due to the lack of tech experience and the rush management places on them to get their clients in and out, I was burned during one of my sessions. There's no recourse you can take, as they make you sign a waiver before you start your treatments. The management doesn't care about keeping their clientele because they are always getting new clients through Groupon. Needless to say they don't need the money, since it's a side business of theirs. There's many many other laser hair removal places out there. Spend your time and money elsewhere. read more

I bought 6 treatment for $500. The deal was essentially for full body, it was whatever you could get done in a 1 hour session. I had 3 sessions that didn't even last 30 minutes. The girl was so careless and clearly not professional. I was lucky enough to get Jillian who was AMAZING. It was the only time my 1 hour session actually took an hour, she took the time to use the correct laser and took her time. She is an expert and was very impressive with her knowledge. The other girl just used a VERY low laser that did nothing, was not detailed, and I was in my car 30 minutes later. On my second to last treatment I found our Jillian left but they wouldn't tell me why. She is the only reason I would ever recommend going to this odd establishment. They don't know what they are doing and they lost the only good thing they had. This is a very poorly runned business that does not care for it's customers. Jillian is 5 stars, this place is 1 star...so I was nice and averaged the stars a bit to give them 2. read more

Beware, they have a receptionist who is very severe and unhelpful. There is apparently some 48 hour cancellation/rescheduling policy. I'm used to 24 hours. We all know how busy this region is. I attempted to reschedule my appointment 36 hours in advance which I believe is reasonable and respectful of their schedule and their customers. I was told there would be a $50 charge. That was the price of the Groupon I purchased. I asked about the rationale behind the policy and was told because they had to pay the technician. I countered that they had just told me they were double-booked which is why they said they couldn't move my little 15 minute appointment to any other part of the day so clearly they'll earn their profits. I said, I didn't know about the 48 hours and the receptionist just said "you signed the policy lady." I asked for a waiver since this was only my second visit and clearly I didn't fully understand that and a business meeting was rearranged on me that I had no control over. She said no. She wouldn't permit me to speak to the owners and said she was the manager and the only one I could speak with. In my view, that is very poor customer service. I understand their rationale, but there should be some flexibility there and/or supervisory oversight for negotiating complaints. I wasn't a no-show, I explained the reason for seeking rescheduling, they were double-booked anyway so no business loss to them, and it was ample advance notice. I also second what others below said about the oddness of the office. I will be talking to Groupon and the Lorton Med Spa's registered agent about this. I would think the business owners wouldn't appreciate knowing how their business is being run. In the end run, they're going to lose money, it can't be avoided with a receptionist like that (the only person you can speak to), a draconian and unusually severe scheduling policy, an odd location with an even odder internal environment, and ancient equipment. My recommendation is try the Stafford MedSpa - it's much more professional. read more

Don't do it...I don't care how good the deal. I purchased 3 living social coupons for 3 laser treatment services (each entitled me for 3 treatments each) - one for laser removal on my eyebrows, one for my lip and one for my toes. They mixed up the number of treatments and even tried to treat me for the wrong area. They ARE adept at talking you into more expensive services which I did - 1 set fee for 6 sessions on and unlimited number of areas either below or above the waist. Sounded like a good deal but when I needed to reschedule, had to wait at least a month and this happened twice so it wasn't an anomaly. Having to wait a month or more really throws off your treatments. You need to be treated every 6 weeks for the treatments to be affective. Rescheduling is inevitable when you are talking about a treatment that runs over a year's time frame. So if this happens you run the risk of having to repurchase a package to finish the areas you started. Could this be done on purpose??? If you are unlucky enough to talk to the owner when trying to reschedule, you will not be able to complete the task. He does not understand English. You will have to call back at another time and speak to someone who does and if you miss an appt unexpectedly, he will charge you a $50 feel or give you the option of giving up one of your treatments. This frustrating and unrewarding experience turned out to be a costly nightmare. read more
