I wish there were a zero star option. I also regret not being more careful. This review is the result of waiting almost 2 years for resolution ,finally resulting in me filing in small claims court , which became impossible to complete, ironically because .. I moved, and cannot attend court without losing wages. Joe La Roche did not show upon the day I scheduled, and phoned me four hours late, unaware that I had left many stressed-out voice mails. He does not check voice mails on a Friday morning when he has a client. He rescheduled for Saturday, which cost me wages. He then notified me of a $180 price increase, in part due to working a weekend.(!!!) I had little choice and had to vacate my apartment. This was simply blackmail. I learned from one employee that Joe La Roche had lied to me on Saturday about being absent due to staying with a stranded vehicle in Natick, because the employee shot off his mouth about having worked a job 70 miles away that morning with Joe. Comically,Joe gave both of us a dirty look and turned beet red. The move took far longer than the estimate, the crew idled and loitered in the truck not working frequently. My neighbor could see the back of the vehicle from his home. He took video. Four guys hacking off every 30 minutes or so.,all at the same time and clearly palnned. This job only needed two,and believe me if I hadn't been facing issues from my landlord I would have pressed the issue. And in the end I was horrified to find out his advertising was a bunch of outright falsehoods .Without naming any person, Joe defames the industry in general claiming that due to his prior work experience, he is aware that "other" movers hire illegals, students and ex-cons. Joe however told me his own company was his first experience. I also found him actively seeking students on a craigslist ad this summer. And one of the guys turned out to be Bruce Pe rez, b.1987 of Dorchester who has 2 arrest warrants in Florida and numerous arrests in FL and the Boston area. Bruce was courteous, hardworking and efficient and I only saw his photos online later ( the state of FL makes this stuff public... google it yourself) However he has a violent record indicating Joe never did a CORI. Since Bruce stated he worked under the table, It appears that Joe doesn't file DOJ mandated Immigrations forms and can't say a word about illegal aliens. You can see Bruce's record online for yourself,and also the slanderous defamatory comments about "other" movers Joe refuses to name on various advertising sites. Students, Cons, and guys unverified for immigration status. He violates all three and points the finger, Joe is simply full of hot air. My credit card was also overcharged. read more

In a word, THE BEST. Joe and his team have moved me on two separate occasions (a few years ago when he moved my home, a couple weeks ago when he moved my business). From start to finish, Joe is fantastic at what he does. The time he takes to understand the scope of your move -- how much stuff you have, specifics on delicate/tricky items, parking and entry/egress on both ends, knowledge of the greater Boston area and its traffic patterns, makes his estimates in terms of cost/time/staffing needs on the money. I like that Metrosexual Movers (MM) is lean and mean. He doesn't have big overhead for a fleet of trucks/massive staff. He's like special ops for moving. He hires the right truck/the right guys for the day/project. The guys Joe has working for him are pleasant and interesting like he is. Listen, I'm not alone in saying that I always felt that MOVING SUCKS. I used to put it right up there with the first day of a new job, or a funeral, in being a day I DREADED. But then I realized a good mover can eliminate the previously felt panic and gastrointestinal distress. Do yourself a favor and hire a knowledgeable and experienced professional who will do it right. And his pricing is very fair. Like with sushi and kids' car seats, you don't want to choose the cheapest option when hiring a mover. Unless you like the idea of a bunch of hungover fratty oafs manhandling/packing/carrying/transporting your every possession from location A to B. As for the couple very negative reviews I see here for MM on Yelp... people are entitled to their opinion. The Constitution stills allows for Freedom of Speech (well, as of 8/2/17 at 11 am we still have that right) and perception is reality. But anyone who looks at Yelp (or Open Table, or Menu Pages, or Angie's List) knows that there are some angry/difficult/nightmarish people out there who have never had a single good experience in their entire life, because they have something fundamentally wrong with them. Or their situation/predicament is so no-win/impossible, that no one wants to touch it. Service providers are not magicians, and do not like being set up for failure. It's sad to see that a couple misanthropic cranks can lower the rating, and damage the credibility, of a great service provider. Haters gon' hate. But that doesn't make it right. So, to sum up, I can't say enough good things about my experience with Metrosexual Movers. Top notch, and they will always have my business and my recommendation. Peace. read more

I moved a couple of weeks ago on the heels of hurricane Irene while simultaneously starting a new job in Cambridge. The move was from Newport, RI to Chelsea, MA and pretty straightforward, logistically speaking...Small house to first floor loft, single person and no 3rd floor walk-ups, for example. Let me just preface by saying that I am a veteran mover who has boxed, unboxed, and reboxed my belongings 19 times in 24 years. Until fairly recently, I have done the moving myself with the help of perhaps my dad and a friend or 2. I even drove a fully loaded 16 footer with my car in tow from St. Louis to Mass. I have seen it all....The good, the bad, and the ugly. Although I do loathe moving, I respect the profession and know that a good moving team can make all the difference. My last string of moves consists of a staggering 5 times in the last 5 years including 2 international moves and 1 within Europe. It's a terribly arduous task and without fail, I find it to be physically, emotionally, and psychologically taxing. This move was no exception but Joe and his assistant, Adam were the tops. They were professionals from start to finish. I must say MM3 was definitely pricier than some but I wasn't in any mood for nonsense and taking a gamble on Craigslist for the sake of saving a few bucks. Plus, I have some antiques and art/objects that I didn't want to be thrown around like lawn furniture. I didn't even have to tell them to be careful. From the get go, it was obvious that my belongings were going to be handled with care. The correspondence with Joe before the move was timely, thorough, and courteous. They arrived a little late on the morning of the move but only due to the extremely narrow, one-way streets and tricky navigational challenges of historic Newport. The day before the move I contacted Joe with a last minute request to make a detour to drop off some items to my sister's house en route in another town. He was agreeable and accommodating and we managed it without adding a significant amount of time and cost to the estimated quote. The guys were a pleasure to work with, good humored, polite, personable, efficient, well-groomed:) and Joe offered his aesthetically sensitive eye in a few furniture placement decisions. I'd say they lived up to the company's namesake. They were very appreciative of any food and drink that I provided and Adam, especially, had a spring in his step when I played music to boost morale and lighten the load, so to speak. These guys are INCREDIBLE movers! I moved from a 3rd floor triple-decker in Somerville to the same in Cambridge. It took almost double their time estimate . . . due to the fact that I neglected to tell them (and frankly I had no clue) that NOTHING I owned would fit up the narrow stairwell in my new home. To do the job right, these guys would have had to hoist half of what I owned up the outside of the building; each and every single item I owned took about 4 times as long as it would have if I had moved into a home that wasn't a converted attic/condo, turned into a separate apartment in an effort to bilk money out of a person who was desperate to own their own place. These guys worked for nearly 11 hours - and although I tried to stave off my own hunger in an effort NOT feed them for the entire duration, they eventually guilted me into owning up to the reality that my expectations were completely unrealistic, and made me realize that I would probably have to spend 10 bucks on a couple of wraps for these two suckers who embarked on my job thinking that I hadn't purchased a veritable tree house. I mean . . . these guys got an 8-foot sofa up into a third floor attic space that not one single respectable mover in the city would even bother to struggle with (for a half hour)!!!! And they checked with me to get my permission to possible scrape some of the paint in the hallway BEFORE attempting to force the sofa through the impossibly narrow passage to the third floor. I'd be an idiot to even think of hiring another moving crew to attempt to bring this furniture down that stairwell someday - because it really doesn't fit!! Somehow these miracle-workers kept their patience and their jovial spirit going for almost twice as long as they thought they'd have to work in an effort to handle my impossible expectations. This is an overdue rating. I was so angry for so long I couldn't even write it. This happened a year ago. Worst day of my life and they just made it worse. The guys were nice enough, but the bottom line is that everything didn't get moved and weren't professionals. I never got a call when they were supposed to and when I did, I was told they couldn't get a truck. Eventually they "found one" and got to us. I was moving a 2 bedroom apartment from a storage unit (I had moved all of this myself into the storage unit, for $70 total with Uhaul) up the street. We even moved it down from the unit to 20 feet from where the truck had to load it, helped them load it, and were only going 4 blocks away. Granted we were going up to the 4th floor of a new apartment, but there were two guys and we did it with them, that's 5 people!! The heavy stuff got moved and we had to make them leave most of the boxes. It cost almost $900, part of which were charges of them getting there and getting back, which I guess took over an hour when they have a center a few blocks away (which is why we chose them...). I could have bought new stuff and had it delivered. They also ruined my bed by bending it in half and damaged some of my stuff, which I guess they thought was ok since they made me write "college furniture" on the form. I guess that was license to beat it up. Never use this company unless you have a lot of money and don't care to see it wasted, your stuff ruined, and you have no friends that would ever help you. read more

I can not more highly recommend these guys. I used them first to move out of my tiny 3rd floor North End apartment with awkward stairwells and corners on a squeezed little street - and they handled it super easily. Since then I have recommended them every single friend who has ever moved. Recently we were moving office locations, so immediately Joe and crew were the first call. They are so easy going, take great care of your belongings, are super fast and completely affordable. And most importantly, they are the nicest people. Joe knows his stuff, he makes sure he knows what the parking and loading/unloading situations will be like ahead of time, his time estimates and therefore the cost estimates are always very much in sync. I also love that he only brings the amount of help he will need for a given job, he keeps his jobs efficient, which allows for them to be more affordable than many of the larger companies. Moving can literally be the worst experience ever, especially if you try to do it yourself. Make your life just THAT much simpler and hire Joe and his guys to take care you. It is ABSOLUTELY money well spent. read more

0 stars. You get an F- in my book. I used this company a few months ago and had such a horrible experience that I had to write something so that hopefully no-one will ever use these guys. I was moving into a condo. As such, I had to coordinate with the condo board about times, dates etc... which I did. This information was conveyed well in advance to metrosexual movers. Great. Day of move comes and the time they are supposed to be there to pickup my stuff goes by. After an hour I call... "we are running late, be another hour". Sucks but fine. Another hour goes by and no-show. I call again. "we are running late, be another hour". Hmmm... Another hour goes by... are you detecting a pattern? Finally after about 5 hours, I call the manager demanding compensation. She flat out refuses. Doesn't even say she was sorry. Just that's the way it is. They finally showed up eight, count'em eight hours later than they were supposed to. I was supposed to move in at 5pm, I was moving in past midnight. To this day I even told people on the streets about my experience. Please don't use them, do a favor to yourself. read more

These guys are amazing! I've madwe several moves in the Boston area, having used Gentle Giant (incredibly expensive) and stumbled onto Metrosexual Movers, (I like them just for their name, showing they had a sense of humor) and they certainly didn't disappoint. They were pretty amazing doing my first move with them, making to two stops to unload part of the contents, first at a self storage p;ace, then at a hous ein Arlington,before ending the move in Maynard. They managed the three stop schedule beautifully and hit the erstimate they'd given me for the total cost. And it was more thanreasonable. The second time I used them was to move a number of things out of jam-packed storager container, which they'd packed to befin with! But again , they astounded, emptying the storage unit abd repacking after tge furniture I needed was extracted. They again repack the storage room and went to Maynard, unloaded quickly and once again hit the estimate on the nose! They're really wonderful and should be your first choice when you need a moving company. read more

worst moving experience ever. my girlfriend convinced me that we should hire movers this time, instead of me doing all the work with my buddies. i figured, sure, why not, i'm getting older. this is what older people do, they hire others to do stuff they don't want to. what a mess. they showed up 3 HOURS late, and this is on top of the 3 hour window they give themselves to show up in the first place. they cost an arm and a leg. they were lazy. they broke stuff. forget about it, i should have known they'd do a piss poor job with a name like metrosexual movers. are metrosexuals well known for their moving abilities? really? next time, i'm just gonna suck it up and get my buddies to help and just do it myself. it would be cheaper and definitely more efficient. i don't know how they have any good reviews, it must be the luck of the draw. sometimes they do great, other times they drop the ball. read more

I hired the metros to move our high end "boutique" retail space and they did a fantastic job. Joe was very accommodating even after I had to postpone and rebook with only days notice. They were on time, polite, friendly and worked super efficiently. Big kudos has to be given for what I consider going above and beyond to move our very large, heavy, awkward, custom made (& very expensive!) showcase. All three guys put in 110% effort in not only moving the beast, but also taking great care in getting it done.
