I bought a huge display case off of Craigslist and hired these guys through a friend to come move it. When i got there, turned out to be a mansion w a bunch of other things for sale. These guys dropped off the display and came back and loaded up a whole truck w stuff i never even expected to get that day - rolltop desk, wood bar, jukebox, dresser w mirror, tall hutch, 30 framed pictures, old radios, huge wood chest, small but heavy safe, chairs, etc and they were ready for it all and got it done. I am amazed at the good reviews this business has received. I met with Jonathan and his girlfriend, (at my condo in Salem), in May or June of 2016. I commented, laughingly, that their reviews must be from friends and family because they were so good. Not so funny now. He gave me a quote for my move from Salem to Portland, ME which was reasonable and he seemed like a good guy, so I handed him $500 in cash to reserve my date. My condo association requires proof of insurance from movers which I was told, one week before my move, that Jonathan couldn't provide. Unfortunately, he also couldn't provide a return of my deposit. It has been MANY emails and unanswered phone calls over several months and I have only had $200 refunded. I worked much harder for that money than I should have. I have no doubt I will not get my money back, especially after this review, but if I can save anyone else the terrible experience I had with these movers then so be it. I hired Muscle Moving for a 2 BR move from Somerville to Salem. 8am start time. I went and grabbed some coffee and donuts for them and a friend I had coming to help as well. arrived back home at 7:50am and they were already there. Punctual! Work ethic!!! Not only did Jonathan and his employee skip the coffee and donuts, they literally hauled ass from the moment they walked in the door to the moment they finished. Seriously. Up and down the stairs, wrapped every piece of furniture in blankets to ensure a safe move, even pointed some of my furniture that was already damaged (that I knew about) just to ensure we knew it was like that before the move. Just very cautious and through. Fast! They didn't stop moving. Ever. Worked their butts off. Fair. After trying to finagle a couch up a very narrow, difficult stair way, there was some damage to the wall. Jonathan, without any hesitation, said he will get it taken care of. Not many companies would do that. Definitely made the right call with hiring them. And i booked it last minute for a July 3rd move! Bravo to Muscle Movers First of all i waited until the last minute for everything, i contacted them only about 5 days in advance but they still made time to squeeze me in and on the day i requested. I thought i packed most of my belongings but come moving day i quickly realized how much i did not do....these guys without hesitation asked what i would like done first and how and they proceeded to just get it done without ever complaining. I guesstimated much less stuff to move and it taking much less time, they had double the amount of work than they expected but they cranked non-stop and it was about 96-97° that day! I sometimes complain about what I do for work but while watching these guys I quickly realized I should be grateful that I don't have to do with these guys do every day! read more

I can't possibly put into words how easy these guys made my move to my new place. Not only were they extremely professional but I know I can be a pain in the ass when it comes to people moving my stuff. They took my requests in stride and didn't skip a beat. Not a single piece of glass broken (I have a LOT of glass furniture ) and they wrapped and packed everything so neatly that I literally just had to open the boxes and put my stuff away. I have moved over 10 times over the past decade and have NEVER had a company be so friendly, helpful, and not to mention punctual (I should say early). We had made a start time of 8am and these guys were here by 7:30 with coffees in hand and LITERALLY started IMMEDIATELY at 8am. I would highly recommend these guys to ANYONE for ANY type of move. I needed a mover pretty quick and after hearing "sorry, booked" over and over again, Jonathan and Muscle Movers came to my rescue. They showed up early (early!!?? Movers!!??) in awful weather and moved my stuff out of storage and into my new place super fast. Of course no doorway is ever built to accommodate a couch, but Jonathan took out his toolbox and had the door off its hinges in two seconds and then right back on after getting the couch in, no problem. Okay, here it goes. I am never one to write Yelp or any reviews for that matter. Negative or positive, I'd rather not be bothered putting my two cents in. That is usually my rule of thumb; unless we are referring to a business like Muscle Moving! As of writing this, I believe Muscle' has only been in operation for a few months. Well, I would have never thought that while being helped by Johnathan (owner/founder) and his team throughout my entire moving process. This is a professional moving company in every way I can think of. I called MM and spoke with John two months before I intended to move. After speaking with three other moving companies prior, I knew that out of the four businesses MM was my #1 choice. Granted, part of that reason is because the others seemed very unprofessional. Most of my decision came from the ways MM presented their business where the other companies fell short i.e. website & phone skills. Luckily, Muscle Moving's actual moving abilities backed up its fancy webdesign and classy linguistics. Six guys showed up on day one to pack my family's entire three floor, four bed room Charlestown Victorian. Okay, I guess we had a lot of stuff to pack: 12 wardrobe boxes, 200+ assorted packing boxes. The china cabinet and kitchen equated to 73 boxes of wicked extremely fragile. Our Kindle-less house provided over 60 book & magazine packed boxes to aid in making Muscle Moving's moving muscles more muscular. Along with packing all the boxes, the crew also prepped all the hanging artwork and wrapped the TVs & electronics and padded all the furniture (excluding the mattresses). So, that concluded day one. The following day was the actual moving day. Since there was very little prep work to be done, MM decided to only use four guys. They started off by packing the truck ceiling high with all the boxes and chowder (LOL, I was told that the chowder was all the loose unwrapped stuff that was not considered furniture and not suitable to be boxed. To this day, I still ask my wife if she knew how we have managed to accumulated so much chowdah over the years.). Then the guys moved all the furniture... Then, they moved more furniture. After that, They moved some more furniture. Yes, we had a ton of stuff (literally!!!) to move. You would never know it by the way these guys moved up and down all those stairs, hour after hour showing no signs of fatigue. They even had to lower a giant bureau from the master bedroom window, on the second floor. At the the end of the pack one 26 foot truck was stuffed beyond believe and another 16 foot truck was halfway filled. After we practically had to force-feed Team Muscle, they were on their way to our new home in Norfolk. MM unloaded the two trucks incredibly fast and diligently; removing furniture pads and protective wrap as they went. Then, they reassembled they had taken apart for packing, before finally moving all the boxes into our new house. Muscle Moving is amazing and worth every penny and then some. I made sure that these guys stayed hydrated by providing plenty of coffee, water & Gatorade. We made sure we had a bunch snacks handy to feed all those muscles. Then, assure that they got their "and then some" I made sure they all received gratuity (that's including Johnathan the owner) They all deserved extra. Muscle Movers are fantastic! They are extremely professional. They kept in touch with me by phone to let me know their arrival time after an earlier move. I had booked them very late myself, and they were very willing to accommodate my timing. They made extremely fast work of the job. Most amazing of all, when they were moving the furniture into the new apartment, the hallway and stairs turned out to be too narrow and winding for them to get my daughter's big couch up into. She was moving into a third floor walk up. These guys were undaunted. They moved some smaller things in while thinking about the best solution. Then they attacked this couch by taking it up the fire escape. It was amazing to watch. It is a narrow fire escape, and there were moments when it looked like this couch was suspended halfway in the air. But they had complete control the whole time, and managed to get this couch in through the back door on the third floor of the fire escape. The space looked too small but just made it. They had to remove two legs from the couch and then put them back on after it made it into the room. John is a master. By the time they were done they were pouring with perspiration and puffing from this incredible workout, but didn't even stop. They finished the move, and never complained. No call no show this morning and I called to find out where they were, I was told one of the trucks broke down. Sorry, you should have called and rescheduled with me.
