If I could give this company 10 out of 5 stars I would. Another company came out and "diagnosed" an issue on their 2nd visit, and quoted us an up-in-the-air price for a "maybe this will fix it maybe it won't" service. Needless to say, I was on Yelp finding someone else for a 2nd opinion. Jennifer at Metz called me and messaged me right away to view video footage and get something scheduled. I was able to call, text, and email her as often or as little as I needed to and ALWAYS received a response. The communication was exceptional from start to finish. Someone came out that same week to take a look and give out a timely estimate. This company does offer financing, although we did not use it. The quote was less than half of what the other company had quoted us. We got a straight forward diagnosis, with honest pricing, and reliable service. The team came out on the day they were scheduled at the time they were scheduled. They were able to complete our project in only 2 days. Extremely efficient, and walked my husband through what they were doing and put us at ease with what still needed to be done. The pictures and reviews from myself and everyone else speaks for themselves. While I hope to never need more restorative services on my property (LOL), if I ever did, I would 10,000% use Metz again. I wish i had found this company before.I called them about noon today and their Tech Nate was here in just a couple of hours The septic line from my house was blocked.He had it opened in no time,ran the camera through and made sure all the roots were cleaned out While he was here he located my septic tank for me and is getting me an estimate to line my pipes, All their equipment was up to date tech and well maintained. She was incredibly helpful during negotiations with our insurance company. Scheduled the repairs for a month later. Crew showed up on time with equipment that was new and in great repair. The employees were knowledgable, kind and trustworthy. They worked incredibly hard over the two days they were at our house installing a trap in our front lawn and lining about 30' of pipe. Earlier this year I received a notice from the Allegheny County Health Department stating that sewer water was seeping out of the hillside at the bottom of my lot. I called Metz Plumbing to come out and assess the situation, suspecting that the sewer line might be damaged and in need of repair or replacement. Rob came out to my property, looked things over, and recommended that I call a sewer cleaning company to clean and videotape the line, only after which he would be able to determine what might need to be done. There was no charge by him for this visit to my property. I called A-1 Sewer, a company that specializes in sewer cleaning and videography. During their visit, the auger, inserted in a clean-out midway down the length of my lot, flew out of the hillside below, nearby a second clean-out that I never knew was part of my own line. The lower section of the line, that connects the sewer lateral to the public main, had been removed, and the broken, disconnected leftover piece had been plugged with rocks and covered over with dirt. Long story short: The Pittsburgh Department of Public Works, to support construction of new townhomes across the street from my lot, had just recently lowered and widened the roadway; Peoples-Gas and PGH2O participated in the project as well, rerouting their utility lines. It was self-evident that my sewer lateral had been damaged by one or more of these agencies and/or their sub-contractors, and the damage covered up by one or more of them in an effort to escape responsibility. I apprized the Allegheny County Health Department of this revelation, and that I was not responsible for the damage. The Allegheny County Health Department apprized me back that although I was not responsible for the damage, I was responsible for the repairs; I was advised by ACHD to have the repairs done ASAP, after which I could file a claim for reimbursement of my expense with the Public Works Department, Peoples-Gas. and PGH2O. I called back to Metz Plumbing, and Rob returned to my property. He looked the situation over and reasoned that my sewer lateral was likely still connected out-of-sight below ground to the public main, and that the disconnected above-ground section of the lateral could be tied back in by replacing the missing mid-section. Rob provided me with a proposal to (1) dig down with hand shovels alongside the roadway until the below-ground section of the sewer lateral is discovered (2) reconnect the below-ground and above-ground sections of the lateral with new PVC pipe (3) coordinate the scope of repairs and the on-site inspection and sign-off with ACHD, and (4) backfill the trench with gravel. Rob did this work for a fair price in a timely and professional manner. I recommend Metz Plumbing. read more

We had a leak in our clay/terra-cotta sewage system at our restaurant and Rob and his crew did an incredible job adding a liner system on our entire main line. They kept things very clean seeing they had to enter the area through our kitchen to the limited access crawl space to the pipe. They completed the job a day early, which was greatly appreciated so we could re-open and get back to business quickly with only one day closed for repairs and cleaning. Do Not Hire This Plumber.  Rob Metz of Metz Plumbing & Sewer Lining came to our home Friday, Feb. 12th to confirm we had a leak on the main water line coming into our house.  He surveyed inside and outside of the house and confirmed there was a leak and he could fix it.  A contract was signed Tuesday, February 16th and the repair would be made Friday the 19th.  He also advised us to hire American Leak Detection so the exact location of leak could be pinpointed.  We did hire this company.  However, they were not able to pinpoint the exact location of the leak only the area.  They also determined that we were losing 300-400 gallons per day and would turn off our water at the curb.  After all Rob was coming the following morning to make the repair.  We could handle being without water for 24 hours.  An hour before he was scheduled to start our job Rob called to cancel.  He had a host of reasons why he was cancelling but we later surmised it was because he NEVER NOTIFIED PA One Call in locating the underground utilities at the dig site.  His new time frame to start our job was February 24th.  Later that afternoon Rob called once again with another round of excuses and postponed our repair indefinitely. I was dumfounded.  He said he would now need the weekend to think about our job and would call us first thing Monday morning.  I reminded him we had a signed contract with him to repair our water main line that day and American Leak Detection had turned our water off.  Rob replied that turning the water back on was an "easy two second fix".  He never showed to turn the water back on. Monday morning came and went.  No call from Rob only an email from Jenn, his wife, asking if we hired another plumber.  Seems Monday morning Rob FINALLY decided to call PA One Call as to the location of the underground utilities.  At that point they notified him another plumber had already placed a ticket for our job site. Jenn's email stated that we should feel free to hire another plumber if we felt the need to do so and that is exactly what we did. Metz Plumbing & Sewer Lining misrepresent themselves as a plumbing company handling all plumbing needs.  Seems sewer lines is their specialty and if that is the case then it should be stated as such.  We had a signed contract with him to find and repair the water main leak on Friday, February 19th.  He obviously had no intentions of honoring that contract and he left us stranded without water for (4) days. He also led us to believe he was coming Friday afternoon to turn the water on and never showed.  After all it is an "easy two second fix". For all the above mentioned reasons DO NOT HIRE Rob Metz to do your plumbing needs.  It has been our personal experience that Rob is not experienced in these matters and by no means is he professional. read more

I had a leak from my sewage system attached to the house. The pipe lowered and broke off of the existing pipe. I called a couple other places first and they said in a day or two. I found Metz on Yelp and had nothing but good reviews. The lady called me back this morning. She was quick to return my call, nice and said between 10 AM - 2 PM. The guy came out and was nothing but professional. He assessed the issue, came up with 2 solutions, and I chose the better solution. He provided me some suggestions for putting the gravel back into the hole. He was very professional and helpful. I will use these guys again. We had sewage leaking inside and outside of our house. The whole line needed to be replaced, which was an extremely difficult job because our line is in an area of our property that is inaccessible to power equipment. I had a different company lined up to do the job but they quit returning phone calls at the last minute. The water company actually called Metz because of his reputation for doing good work with them. (Side note: if you have the additional insurance on your water and sewer lines through the water company, you can request Metz to do the work when you call in your claim.) Metz and his crew took care of everything. His communication through the whole process was top notch. He told us exactly what to expect for every step of the process. He also gave us a few phrases to use and phrases to avoid in order to put in a home owner's claim on part of the work. He and his guys were all great people. They were all courteous, positive, and hard-working. The work they did was outstanding. Robert wouldn't leave until he was sure that I was happy with the work and didn't have any questions. We had the Metz team at our house this morning to look at a sewer drainage pipe below our basement floor. I was looking for a second opinion after another company told us that we needed to get the old piping out immediately. That meant jackhammering our foundation, tearing up our finished basement, and a TON of money. All that after one, relatively small back up. When I called Metz, they were friendly and professional, never once saying anything negative about any other plumbers that I mentioned. They spent a lot of time with us at our house explaining our plumbing system to us and what might have caused the clog. While we do have old piping, they recommended against doing such a massive job after this one occurrence. That's right, instead of trying to book a big job, they gave us some suggestions to help prolong the life of the pipes that we have! Nonetheless, while they were there, I also asked for their estimate if we needed the work done in the future. They were much more reasonable than the bigger company that came in first. Our toilet backed up yesterday morning. Today I called these guys and they had a plumber here within 30 minutes of my call! That NEVER happens!! Our simple clogged toilet turned into a major plumbing problem due to the way our sewer line was put in years ago but the Metz men kept on working. They were on our roof in the pouring rain to snake out the drain through the vent pipe, they were in our basement trying to break a 60 year old trap free and in the bathroom going through the toilet. They kept us updated on every step of what they were doing, what the next steps would be, gave us advice and asked our permission. The clog would NOT budge but they kept at it and finally broke it free. Due to the clog, there was water damage to our game room (not caused by them) and they had the name of a restoration company, spoke to them for us to tell them exactly what happend, walked us through the insurance claim process AND the bill was ridiculously reasonable!! I can tell you; these will be the only plumber I ever call in the future! I can't say enough about how appreciative we are to their team!! read more

I needed a toilet replaced, called my plumber. He said buy the toilet and he'll call to schedule the install. He never did. I called another plumber, got the answering service THREE times. Being up the creek without a commode I searched Yelp and found Metz Plumbing. I called and Jennifer answered, how novel having a real person in the firm answer the phone. It's so crazy it just might catch on. Well, I explained my issues- toilet install and laundry tub drain repair. They set a date, which I thought they were coming to scope out the job, give me a price, then schedule the work. They installed the toilet that day then gave me a price for the laundry tub repair. The repair was done in the next week. The toilet and laundry tub work fine. I'm glad I found Metz Plumbing on Yelp. I would call them again should the need arise. read more
