When I made an appt with this company (1-Tom-Plumber), I asked if I can pay by check. I was informed that either way works - by check or Credit card. However, this person did NOT mention there would be 3% fee if I pay with a credit card. When I paid the bill, Jake told me that Jake talked to the office. Jake informed me that the office WAIVED the 3% credit card fee for $10.70. When I came home, I received e-mail receipt from 1-Tom-Plumber. It showed that Jake charged 3% fee which is NOT what I was informed. I paid $368.73 (including 3% fee for $10.73) instead $358. Jake was a good plumber and was about to give a good review. However, after this experience, I can NOT recommend Jake and I will NEVER use Jake again. read more

Not a satisfactory experience with 1Tom plumbing. The mechanic did not follow instructions to call in advance so I could meet him on site at the agreed upon time. He did accurately diagnose the explain the steps that were needed to fix a leaky basement sink in my rental home, and completed the job in a timely way, but the price quoted was way above anything reasonable for a job of that scale. Unfortunately, since the sink needed repaired in a timely way I decided to accept the estimate anyway, which I later regretted. I can't really single out 1Tom, but I guess these large plumbing companies charge whatever rates they feel they can get by charging a dispatch fee and then overestimating the rate. $1323 seems like a lot to replace a faucet and install new supply lines under the sink, taking materials into account (it took two hours, so about $500/hr) but maybe that is the going rate for big, established companies. In the future I'll be more patient and call a private contractor. read more

Let me start off by saying I was very very pleasantly surprised by this company. As a society, we UNFORTUNATELY tend to go with "name recognition." With that said, I have never heard of 1-Tom Plumber before in my life. Going by name recognition was my biggest mistake in this process. From my initial contact with their scheduler, to (Issac Hirth) the technician that came to my home, I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE PLEASED! The scheduler asked the most appropriate questions as it related to my service request. They were informative about the pricing and did there due diligence in giving me a "ballpark price." they afforded me options as it related to times, and days that they could respond to my call. My observation was that the scheduler went out of their way to try to make my problem, their problem and find a solution that worked for everyone. Now, as it relates to the technician, he arrived at the time that was quoted, was smartly, dressed, professionally, representing the company in a vehicle that let you know who they were, and what they did. He asked multiple questions, looking at the problem from the inside of my home, as well as the outside of my home, and did not bring any tools out until he had asked a plethora of questions, and found out exactly what needed done and formulated the best way to attack the problem. He was very open to humoring me during the process answering questions, explaining what he was doing as he did it, and telling me what he saw as the issues that they could (and did) address/remediate. Mr. Hirth was on station for approximately one hour and 45 minutes and when he was done, my problem was gone! Now you're gonna say well hey that's what he was paid to do. Hey, he did his job Yatta Yatta Yatta well in addition to that he contacted peoples gas spoke in great detail with the peoples gas technician, and. Had the driver who had previously cut my gas off (because of the leak) back out to my home within 30 minutes to do a final inspection and put his stamp of approval on it, there by having my gas turned back on. Now here comes the greatest part of this the technician did the minimally invasive things necessary to remediate the issue and charged me the price that was in the ballpark quoted by the scheduler. Other companies (big box well named Pittsburgh, heavy hitters) Wanted to charge me over 91% more than I paid to have the same exact job done by 1-Tom Plumber. I have saved this vendor into my Rolodex of "important people" and have farmed their name out to everyone that I know that needs a plumber. If you have followed me in the past, you know my tagline, I vote with my dollars and my feet well in this case, I used my dollars in my hand, and both of them will be contacting. 1-Tom Plumber again if I ever need future plumbing work. If you need a Plumber, these are the people to call I give them five out of five stars!! read more

Our residence experienced a clog in the sewer line & the result was murky water overflowing onto the hardwood floor.
