Cinco de Mayo and passing exit 46? ALTO! We did. First time ever checking out these infamous food trucks. I have passed by so many times looking on from afar. Even at night taking in their lights. But yesterday was the day! Tacos Santa send us packing with a strawberry smoothie, 2 sets of Birria tacos and 2 beef empanadas. I did struggle with placing my order. I asked how many tacos come in an order and we were told 2. Overall we wanted 3 tacos so we placed 2 orders. The orders each came with three! I asked for a side of crema and the guy taking my order started laughing. Made me feel stupid. I also ordered a Jarrito and got a smoothie instead. Definitely spend more money than we wanted to since we were upsold. - The strawberry smoothie was tasty! The kids and and I enjoyed! - My 12 year old feasted on the beef empanadas and declared them good. I can share they looked crispy which is how I like them. - The birria tacos... messy! So so messy and the employees of Tacos Santa knew giving us a stack of napkins. I had a hard time with these tacos. I want some spicy kick but I had a hard time finding the balance I wanted. Without hot sauce- it needed it but their hot sauce was too much for me. Also, getting food from a food truck- I want an easy eat. The consume was in a container you must did. Made it harder to eat in the car. Bring on the napkins!

This is one of the food trucks that are parked in New Haven next to the water. Went to IKEA for some shopping and decided to check this area out. I had ordered the esquites. Which is Mexican street corn but already cut off the cob. It was good but, didbt give me that childhood memory of your first authentic street corn. It was probably because it was cut up. Not sure. To me it was soupy and a little too spicy. I also had the chicken tostadas. That was good. Then again there is a but. Not really sure what it was. Maybe the chicken. I probably should of gotten the beef. Also, ordered the chicken pinchos. You didn't get the smokiness you normally would from a pincho. The food was good but, could have been better. I definitely will try them out again to give a second review.

3.5 stars - Friendly & quick service! My boyfriend and I split the birria and al pastor tacos ($3 each) and both were decent. The al pastor was definitely more flavorful than the birria. I would probably recommend skipping the birria for something else. Salsas were surprisingly spicy & packed a punch.

This venezuelan food place was great. It is located in the food truck area in Long Wharf New Haven…read more Food was great, best thing was the Chicha, which is a drinks made of rice, was awesome. The cachapas were sweet and the toquemos were nice and cheese. The owner working there was a super nice dude and I can't wait to go by thisnolace again.

Finally made it to Long Wharf to visit the Arepa food truck! For now they are open only Fridays…read moreand Saturdays but make sure you follow them On Instagram because that's where they will post and keep everyone updated with any changes. They have only been open already for 1.5 months. So, today my dad I went to grab a bite specifically at the Arepa food truck.I have been waiting for this moment !! Lol! So happy we did because it was delicious plus always glad we can support! I had an Arepa Rellena( beef) and as extras I added cheese and aguacate. Toppings are extra charge. My dad also ordered an arepa rellena but added cheese and sweet plantains to his . Arepas and Tequenos will come with a side of sauce with It. I wish they had an option on the menu where they had arepa that had everything on it for toppings with the option of chicken or beef and then also keep the other options as adding it separately for those who prefer that way ! So on to the drinks.. we both ordered Chica which is a creamy drink made out of white rice and tastes just like ( Arroz con leche estilo Colombiano ) rice pudding Colombian style. Soo good , it's like dessert but to drink! And my dad had tequenos which I couldn't have since they weren't Gluten-free but he definitely enjoyed eating those cheesy fluffy fried doughy deliciousness of goodness very much! Las arepas were very filling , we didn't wait long for them to come out either . The only thing is that my beef arepa did have some pieces that were kind of cold. No major issue , just wish it was all evenly hot . But that's an easy fix! The food was fresh, flavorful, tasty.. and it definitely filled us up. I just love arepas! The gentleman that greeted us( the owner) was so nice and very friendly!! Must say lunch was really good today!! Check them Out ! Now I know where to go for a stuffed arepa!
