Overall good food. Guacamole was a bit bland, but it was fresh which is nice. Wife's chorizo burrito was delish; my carnitas and chorizo tacos were solid, but the steak taco was disappointing (meat was clearly not cooked to order). Kids cheese quesadilla was a kids cheese quesadilla, and the churros with ice cream dessert was pretty darn good (although it made me clamor for Baja Fresh's churros, which are def. more tender). Two adult entrees, one kid, a dessert and some chips n guac set me back $56 with the tip. It was good, but not $56 good. Next time I'll split the burrito and stick to the free salsa with my chips. read more

Omg I love this place it's the bomb. The food is authentic. You can taste the real flavor of Mexico in these dishes. I love this place. They need a liquor license because I need some tequila with my tocos lol. What I love is that they allow you to bring your own alcoholic beverages. So cool. Was not expecting to be as amazed as I was by this place. The food is so incredibly amazing and there is a wide variety of Mexican food on the menu. No matter what I get or the person I'm with gets, we leave full and so happy. The wait staff is so nice every time that I've gone, and I've gone countless times since they opened. My favorite thing to get is the Enchilada Verdes with either the Chorizo or the Grilled Chicken, but any option you get will be spectacular. It also comes with a hefty portion of rice and refried beans that is so good. Please try this place, it needs more recognition! read more

I ordered a taco salad. To my surprise meat is sold separately. Now I thought when you order a taco you get ground beef in it. This is the only place I've seen that doesn't give you meat in your taco. I will never darken the doorway again. $4 extra for meat. Bad for business. We dropped in here for a quick lunch last week. Very good quality food and lots of it. I couldn't finish even half of my food. I had the chipoltle bowl with brown rice. Very flavorful. Staff was very nice and very attentive. My only complaints are that the drinks are out of bottles and not made in house...I prefer my Tamarindo homemade. Not bad, just confused. This place popped up where a Pancheros used to be, and it's pretty obvious. Paint, light fixtures and even the paintings on the wall are all left over from Pancheros. The only decor they added was a couple of sombreros on the walls and some tiki themed decorations that seem out of place for a Mexican restaurant. It's also a sit down restaurant primarily with a take out section in the back, compared to the Pancheros self seating set up. The menu has a wide variety of items, a large appetizer selection that lets you know they have a big freezer, including a sampler platter that includes mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and calamari, which just seems out of place called MEXICO grill. The food we ordered was good, I'd like to go back to try some more items on their large menu before giving a real judgment on the food as a whole. I think if they got rid of the non-Mexican frozen foods and lost the Hawaiian tiki decorations they would probably be better off given their name. With Qdoba and Chipotle both within a 2 minute walking distance I'm Interested to see if this place goes can keep up. read more

We stopped by the Mexico Grill for lunch on a whim after discovering that the Cajun Crab doesn't open until 3PM (no lunch?!). It was probably around 1PM and there was only one other table in the place - not a great sign. Our waiter came over right away and was super friendly offering suggestions for the menu. We were starving and right away started on the free chips and salsa. We started with the shrimp appetizer which was tasty. My husband got a HUGE burrito and I got the blackened chicken. I was not impressed with the chicken following the shrimp, it was pretty overcooked and came with a small amount of not great pico de gallo. I expected a bit more. read more

Finally got the chance to stop in a couple weeks ago. I was looking forward to coming since my husband and I have eaten at the Garwood location (Grill Creations) many times and have always enjoyed it. The Watchung location is closer to where we live, which is great. The food here is tasty and fresh and you can't beat the lunch special. The food at this place is really solid, which was unexpected given its strip mall location and generic decor. It has a large menu that for the most part is really tasty. Their plantains are awesome. Also a fan of the Steak Velacruz with fried eggs, a whole avocado and side of chargrilled jalapeños. Good low carb options if you're into that. Ate here for the first time. Ordered steak enchiladas. Excellent! Tortilla filled with grilled and spiced flank steak. Cheese and sauces on exterior served with beans and rice. Flavors are lovely, not your typical Mexican fair. Chips served with garlic chipotle salsa was really good. Did not give 5 stars due to noise!!! Need acoustical tiles or other stuff that would cut down on the noise made by diners. read more

Bomb. I've eaten here a few times as well as their other spot (grill creations) never had a bad meal here. Only complaint I have is I asked for an extra side of pico de Gallo with my blacked chicken and they charged me $1.50 for one of those small dressing cups. literally a spoonful. Ordered take out. I wanted a burrito bowl without the meat and asked for peppers, onions and jalapeños on my order. I even said it back to the girl who took my order at the end affirming that i wanted those veggies added in since I was getting the meatless option and she affirmed it. Was confused and annoyed when it turned out my bowl was just rice, beans, and pico de Gallo. Felt underwhelming. Also my partner got the vegan chimichanga. A lot of the meatless menu options feel really weird in that most of them seem pretty bare. Like the chimichanga was just rice, beans and green sauce. Knowing how big it was and how much of it (and it was a lot) was just rice and somehow not enough sauce made the meal filling yes but disappointing. Seems like such bare orders should use opportunity to include at least a few vegetables?? read more

Had the steak fajitas with yellow rice and black beans ( I substituted the refried.) and I really enjoyed it..only complaint would be a little too much oil in the steak and onion and peppers...the food was almost floating in it. Rice and black beans were delicious.The free salad which came with the meal was also very good..but I would would eliminate the cucumber or cut it way way back..there was so much of it it overpowered the taste of the whole salad...a little goes along way with cucumber. My favorite part of the whole meal would have to be the complimentary salsa and chips...BEST chips I have ever tasted ...thick cut and baked....yummmm!! read more
