I'm giving this a three to be generous- it's not as bad as a 2 but not quite a three - I rounded up. First, the good - the decor and ambiance is great. The bathroom - very clean. My chicken breast was good (everything else on the plate was bland), and my daughter's green enchiladas were ok. My husband's birria quesadilla was very good according to him and my daughter. The service was awful! The waitress handed us iPad menus and never said to order on the tablet or if she was going to come back for our order. The menu is not extensive, just fyi. You can only get taco platters with all the same taco meat, not a variety. The enchiladas are also only 1 way for all three on the plate. Whatever...I can deal with that, if the food was great. It's not. The black beans were room temp with no seasoning, the corn on the cob - no salt, no butter. The guac was also bland. We were never offered water refills and she never asked us if we wanted a drink until after our meals came. We didn't, but it was said with a huge sigh and eye-roll. As a side note, this was a grown woman waiting on us, like an abuela, not a teenager. She never came back to our table, until she saw another waitress come over and bring us boxes for leftovers - that we had to go to the bar to ask for. We came here lead astray by the reviews. I ordered veggie enchiladas with sweet plantains and beans. I was expecting traditional beans like the beans and rice that come at every Mexican restaurant; what I got was beans poured from a can and heated up. Very disappointing. The enchilada was ok. The veggies were barely cooked and everything fell apart. There was barely any flavor. My partner got a birria enchilada which they put in as birria tacos and it took them a long time to bring out the correct order, I was almost done with my meal. The enchilada really only had one flavor; salt. The dipping sauce was pretty good. The ambiance is inviting and intriguing. The service was friendly. We started off with the orale tostones and Alitas de pollo with the tamarind sauce. It was delicious. The drink I had was the Organic Mango Passion Fruit margarita. It was very bland and overpriced. The cup was full of ice and the drink tasted like ice and tequila. There was no flavor at all and for almost $20 it certainly was not worth it. I ordered the skirt steak with rice and beans, beef enchilada and salad and the meal was supposed to come with cactus. I was excited to try the cactus which was the main reason I ordered the meal. When my meal arrived I asked the waitress to point out where the cactus was because I did not notice it on my plate. She then informed me that they no longer serve the cactus because many people don't like it. This was very unprofessional and misleading. If an item is advertised as part of a meal and it is withheld or unavailable the customer should be informed when they order, not after they have already received the meal. I informed her that the reason I ordered this meal was to try the cactus. There was no offer to compensate or make it right in any way. So when you place an order just make sure everything in your meal is what you receive. The prices are very high, I wouldn't mind trying it out during happy hour. read more

They were drenched in sauce and tasted like Chinese food. It only came with 3 tortillas which wasn't even remotely enough. My husband found a big piece of rubber in his burrito. He showed the waiter and they brought him a new burrito. They said it fell off the rice maker. He could've swallowed it and choked! They gave us a free dessert but we didn't really want desert. His meal should've been comped! The manager never even came over to apologize. Overall the food was not good, the drinks were extremely overpriced and the service was slow. The flashing lights with the approximately 100 ceiling fans make for an environment of all time that provides the ever enjoyable challenge of barely being able to see across the table. I visited here on a Wednesday night for my sister's birthday. It was just my sister and I. We arrived around 6pm and were seated right away. During our time there, I noticed the restaurant was getting busier and all tables on the first level were taken. They bring chips and salsa out to every table and it was delish. We ordered 2 margaritas and 3 appetizers. We ordered the steak quesadillas, Mexican street corn, and chicken flautas. The food and drinks were good. The food was flavorful. They have a decent sized drink menu (including margarita flights) but my sister and I are basic and stuck to original margaritas with tajin. We ordered Churros for dessert and I asked if they'd sing for my sister's birthday. They sang and put a hat on her. Everything was great minus the service (make sure to keep reading lol). Our waiter was l friendly but once we had our food he didn't really come around to see how everything was. When it came time to order dessert, I had to grab the attention of another staff member. I do want to add that I don't think it was terrible service I just think that they were maybe not prepared for a Wednesday night to get as busy as it was. This is a new restaurant and I'm sure many people are wanting to try it out. I found out about it through a reel on IG so word is definitely spreading. Everyone I encountered was really friendly. La Colina is an exciting new addition to the restaurant scene in Warren. The moment I stepped inside I immediately loved the interior design. Everything is colorful and beautifully lit. Even the floor and ceiling have attractive patterns and textures. The wall murals are amazing. For our group of four, we got 3 different kinds of tacos (veggie, chicken, and fish) and one enchilada. The food came out quickly and was nicely presented. The person who got the chicken taco said it was disappointing, but I liked my fish tacos and my Mom liked her veggie tacos. The person who had the enchiladas with mole said they were very good. We also got the guacamole appetizer, which was fresh and delicious. We ordered a variety of beers and unfortunately two of the three we wanted were not in stock. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It is absolutely wonderful to see this new place in Warren, NJ. For Mexican food, even with it being a working the bugs out start up, still places this first in the area if not NJ in general. The attention to detail in the decor is something you do not usually see in this area, but it still all comes down to the food... Chips and salsa are served to the table to start. There is nothing unusual about that. I would rate them as a decent start for the meal to come. For the margaritas - I had the Secret house recipe which is really just a safe bet on a 'normal' margarita - they are great. Frozen is the way I like them and with salt. This is where my only complaint for the night was. The salt is served like a waterfall on glass rather than on the rim. It looks awesome, but I am not ordering it that way for the looks. Please divert this to where it belongs for taste... Moving on to the appetizer, the NACHOS EL GORDO - Traditional fresh crispy tortilla topped with Mexican cheddar cheese, corn, pico de gallo, refried beans, jalapeños, guacamole, and Mexican sour cream, were really great. The table went for the steak option and for me, it was a fresh take on a pretty standard dish. For the entrée my choice was the VOLCANO BURRITO - Pork carnitas burrito, topped with rice, pinto beans, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo. I didn't ask, and I didn't think about it after ordering, but why are they called "Sushi Burritos"? Well, looking back, I guess I figured it out. It is the way they are served. They are cut up like rolls of sushi on the plate. I actually enjoyed this presentation. A suggestion would be to make this more clear on the menu or to possibly make it an option. The portion sizes were generous too. I had nothing to eat for the entire day and I still brought home half of the burrito after having probably more than my share of the nachos. Needless to say, this will probably be a favorite place for the future. Gorgeous surroundings in a quiet area with generous parking. More importantly, some of the best Mexcian food I have found in this area (and I am being really generous with what I am thinking of for "area") with a fresh take on some combinations and presentations. The service is not slow at all and looks like management stays out on the floor for now. This place is also new, so we're gonna see if they keep up that same intensity. The chips and salsa were really good. I ordered from the sushi burrito section of the menu. I have no idea why they call it that. The one I got has no coloration to sushi at all. Burrito was delicious, you wont be able to eat it with your hands because of the drizzle sauce they put on top. The girlfriend got the fajita plate, and she said she enjoyed it but the adobo marinate was too much for me. That's the flavor that smacks you in the face on the first bite. I also had a Michelada which was tasty. I think everything is grossly overpriced. $15 for my drink is excessive specially the size of the mug. $15 for a mojito. $20 for a burrito with no real sides. They make it look fancy with some dry ice and a flower. Trying to hard to be a fancy gourmet, Mexican restaurant. It's not worth the price. There are two stories, the top story is really filled with decorated walls, original paintings and art deco. Pull up to the restaurant and park in their Apple why before waltzing into a very festive environment. The food is also delicious. They put a little dry ice in some water to make a fancy effect when they bring out the plates. The food came out hot and tasted fresh. Since it was not busy, there were plenty of people looking for things to do. We had about 3 or 4 people trying to clear our plates away before we were finished. That is really annoying. Very cute place and nice decor big in all honesty is VERY LOUD THERE , you basically have to scream at each other in order to have a conversation. I asked for 2 beers and the girl comes back with margarita glasses and says margaritas right ??! Beer and margarita don't even sound the same . Also one of the girl at the bar spilled a soda all over the counter and it splashed on my dress and she didn't even realized the soda was all over the place until I moved my stuff . People at the bad need to pay more attention , maybe a little more training . I came here with my friends, I live in town. The vibe reminded me of a hip Mexican restaurant I'd find in Miami, with the Miami hefty prices. It had a vibrant, and cool feel almost electric. On the walls were flat screens with music videos playing. There's a nice bar and if your into good tequilas, this is the place for you. My girlfriend's and I made a reservation and were seated promptly. On the table came fresh chips and salsa which were good. My friend and I both ordered a Frozen Mango Margarita. It was decorated with a pretty flower and rimmed salt. The drink was good, nothing special but pricey at $15. I chose for my entree TACOS DE PESCADO- it consisted of 3 Cod Fish Tacos served with Avocado Slaw, Pico de Gallo, in a tequila, lime, cilantro sauce($23.) It had good flavor but what surprised me is this dish didn't come with anything. No rice and beans like most Mexican restaurants serve,even in Miami. Not knowing the price, I ordered a side of rice and beans when I got the bill I couldn't believe I was charged $6 for a tiny little bowl of hard rice and $6 for a tiny little bowl of black beans. My suggestion is skip it completely not worth $12 extra. So it cost a total of $35 for 3 fish tacos, and rice and beans. That is expensive! It was good, but definitely not worth $35. My friend ordered TACOS DE CAMARÓN- 3 Shrimp Tacos topped with Pineapple, Pico de Gallo, and Sweet Chili Mango Sauce ($23) She enjoyed her meal. My other friend ordered a QUESADILLAS CHIQUITAS- a Mexican blend of cheeses topped with peppers, onions, sour cream, and guacamole pico de gallo, and queso fresco with a tequila, cilantro, lime dressing. ($17.) It was served very uniquely. (See pictures.) My other friend ordered basic CHICKEN TACOS- 4 chicken tacos, salsa roja, verde onions, and cilantro. ($22.) You can't mix the difference taco choices. She also ordered a side of rice and beans not knowing it was an ($12.) She paid $34 for chicken tacos and rice and beans. The food was good, but for me not worth the hefty price. I guess because it's Warren the prices are hefty like some of the other restaurants. I eat really authentic Mexican food all the time and it's no where near these prices. If you order a dinner it starts at ($28 )and goes up to ($37) for Skirt steak. The staff was very nice. My server was good, but there was somewhat of a language barrier. There was a manager on the floor walking around and greeting customers. They do offer KIDS MEALS- chicken fingers & fries, kids quesadilla & fries, kids taco just meat & cheese & fries, and mozzarella sticks & fries. ($15) They offer 2 SOUPS- Cream of broccoli, and Sopa del dia each ($11.) I only saw one DESSERT- Mexican Churros. ($11.) There is free parking in their lot. We did t go wild ordering- my husband had a few beers and I wanted to try the horchata because it was homemade. Our selection for dinner was tacos al pastor (me) and I asked for a flour tortillas in place of corn. My husband ordered the appetizer quesadillas. For me - the pork was too thin, which made it dry and hard. Lots of spice and little tiny pineapple cubes just didn't hit it for me. My husband did love his quesadillas! Both dishes were served with a (dry ice?) flower which was interesting. Overall, I am sure this place can get packed and I read reviews that noted it was loud - however for our time there - there were half a dozen guests so hard to tell between 5-6:30 on a Friday.
