    Chips and salsa
    Lisa G.

Located in beautiful Kailua, first time here and the servers were really nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I had cheese enchiladas, black beans and rice. The enchiladas and black beans were good, the rice wasn't my favorite. $4 for chips and homemade salsa, but the salsa tasted like PACE picante sauce. Requested hotter salsa and they gave me habanero, definitely had the spice I was looking for. My friend had 2 beef and 2 chicken tacos - it was Taco Tuesday, they came out with lots of meat. He felt they would be better with less meat and more onions and cilantro, but was satisfied overall. Tacos were $3.50 each for Taco Tuesday, good deal. So if you want affordable tacos, Tuesday is a great day to try Mexico Lindo

Worst birria tacos I have ever had. They came out soggy and falling apart. My plate was covered in the juice from the black beans so everything on my plate was soggy . Chips were okay. Salsa is not good. Will not be coming back for over priced food that looks like a toddler whipped it up in the back.

2 mini chicken quesadillas, a side of chips and salsa

I love coming here for the pleasant, friendly service and quality food. Today, I ordered the usual $4 chips and salsa. I don't mind paying for it because the salsa is very tasty and has perfect spice. It is saucy, not watery - I love that! If I remember correctly, the chips used to be warm, but was more like it came out of a bag today and kind of hard rather than crispy. I noticed they no longer have ala carte items on the menu, so things are in the high teens and twenties as far as the cost. It's ok, the quality is worth it and I can take leftovers home. I mentioned that I needed to head out for an appointment in 1 hour. My mini quesadillas filled with melted cheese, moist shredded chicken (hold the sour cream) with quac and pico de gallo on the side came in 7 minutes! Plenty of time to eat and write this review. The restaurant filled up on this Thursday at 12:15pm. I'm not surprised! I love that they have both Tapatio (my go to Mexican hot sauce) as well as Cholula hot sauce on the table. I was happy to have Allison serve me as she has in the past. She is so friendly and helpful in ordering my item. It's such a delight to have her here-what a gem! I hear friendly chatter at the bar which rises to a roar at times. I bet there's lots of regulars here. I recommend coming here. Even if you have to drive from town!

Located in Kailua, across from CPK. Lots of free parking in the lot right infront of Mexico Lindo. Food was amazing!! Service was amazing! And the ambiance was amazing!! We definitely will be back again. It was so great that we forgot to take photos.

The food was okay, but definitely overpriced for what it is... my taco salad was $25! That's too much for taco salad & Mexican food in my opinion. The portion size was fair, but I didn't like that the taco shell wasn't crunchy and tasted like it was fried in old oil. No salsa came with the meal either, which felt like a miss for a Mexican restaurant. Not a terrible experience, but I don't think it lived up to the price.

    Margaritas

Best Mexican restaurant on the East Side of Oahu. Margaritas are delicious after a day at the beach. Food is delicious too!

The 3 rating is solely for the price. The bartender was awesome and very nice, but the food is absolutely overpriced. 2 tacos for $21, 1 tamale for $21, a quesadilla for $23....i know this is Hawaii but c'mon bruh. It was $90 without tip for 2 entries, 2 drinks, and guac. Management could do better.

We found ourselves in Kailua and drove around a bit to find someplace to eat. We both realized that we hadn't enjoyed Mexican food for a while, so we decided to try Mexico Lindo. Rolled up right around noon, and crossed fingers that we would just get seated, and sure enough we were told to "seat your self". After bringing some water, the waiter asked if we wanted anything to drink, and of course I want a house margarita on the rocks and hubs had an iced tea. It didn't take long to see the queso on the menu, so we ordered some chips and salsa and the queso with chorizo on the side. My drink came and they were not light on the pour! The glass is like the size of a miniature fish bowl, and the flavors were on point. The sizzling cheese came out and a decent side of chorizo was next to it. ( I asked for the chorizo on the side). The cheese pull on this puppy was a 10 out of 10 and the edges were nice and crispy. There is nothing like a crispy ooey gooey cheese paired with chorizo and tapatio. I was in queso heaven. I ordered the appetizer quesadillas and hubs ordered the pork tamale. Had I known how fabulous the queso was, I might've just stopped there, but the beef quesadilla were filled with so much meat and cheese, one would've been perfect for me. Hubs was impressed with his tamale, as the pork was all the way through the masa and felt like it was homemade. The service was great especially during the lunch rush, our water was topped off, and the food was really good. I asked our server if they are affiliated with Mexico in Kalihi, and he said that it was the same owners. I told him, same owners, maybe, but I enjoyed this meal a bit more than the other restaurant. He smiled and asked "not the same?" I said, "no, this is better". Definitely worth a short drive over the Pali.

Sad looking Menudo served cold as it died on the pass.

Dinner on 6/19 WTH happened to your service and food quality? Even though you had a YELLOW health placard we still went it. I ordered my favorite dish, Menudo. In the past this was sooooo on point and delicious. I wanted to have hot peppers in the menudo but the waitress said they can't do that and said she'll give extra pepper flakes. When the order got delivered to the table it was cold. Seems like it was sitting for a while on the pass. The other dish ordered was ok and nothing to tell Mama about. Waitress came to take order, drop the food and checked back on us once besidesdroppingoff the check. The restaurant wasn't full at all and not coming back to offer more water is unacceptable. When we seen that yellow placard we should have turned around and went to Los Garcia's down the road.

    Multiple roaches

6 roaches came out of the wall next to our table. The waitress said she would inform the owners. They offered us a free guacamole. We will not be back

Indoor and outdoor seating We sat outside and our server Kailee was attentive and quick even while we were out of sight We ordered a mango margarita to share and they kindly split into two glasses. It lacked that mango flavor and sweetness, we let Kailee know and she happily took it back to the bar to be doctored up. The bartender came out to make sure we were happy with the second one which was so sweet of her! Their portions are huge! And should definitely be shared. This was our first time trying the Mamala burrito and I loved the white sauce and toppings! The shrimp was a little bit off tho, that was the only flaw. Great service and food! I recommend after a long morning hike or if you want to CRASH out at the beach all afternoon

I used to come here and mainly have chips and margaritas. My burrito was on the larger size but I thought it was just average on flavor and ingredients. Steak was a little tough and flavor was alright. Service was great despite it being busy.

Vanilla Ice Cream 2 scoop with Churro's ono.

Foods good, my go to place Traditional Mexican Food, I rather come here food comes out fast, only downfall now you gotta pay for chips it was free before, pther places still serve it for free. They kinda skip the Lettuce, got a small bowl no charge made up on it, all good. Margarita's are good.

First and foremost on the list for our search, was…read morewe hoped to find a place that had televised sports (both Monday Night Football and the World Series were on--but remember, this is Hawaii--way-out in the Pacific, so live-games come on in the afternoon or even earlier). Multiple screens make it so there is not a bad seat in the house. We also hoped to find a place with more of a "neighborhood/locals" energy to chill and relax our tired dogs (feet) in...and also, if it wasn't asking too much, hoped that it would have a fun vibe. (*Check those criteria off). "Icing on the cake", for us would be if the location had decent food. (Check that one off and put an exclamation point behind it--as the nachos we had were, "Fire".) As fate would have it, a lucky break was to be had as we walked in to the very-full bar. There, before us, were two stools at the bar (*the last remaining spots in the place) and they happened to be open. Side note: The bar has a speak-easy attached to it, and one day, we are gonna try it. Going there has been mentioned a few times when we have chatted with locals and tourists regarding memorable and unique things to do. Our servers were pleasant and accommodating despite the fact that the place was "choke widd plenty-kine cust-a'mah" (local pidgin for, full of customers). It's a hard balancing act to make patrons feel welcomed, but also not leave other thirsty tables waiting for too long. The two pretty blondes working that afternoon did a fantastic job at this. My seasonal sour beer hit all the right notes, and my wife seemed to enjoy her less exotic tap beer (Blue moon with an orange slice--served ice cold). There is a ton of beers to choose from here. Lighting in the Kailua Tavern is kinda darkish (not a problem, as I like me a dark bar sometimes). The locals were very-welcoming. One guy offered his table to us when he noticed our food had arrived and our plates were a bit pinned in. Also, anyone who happened to be sitting near us immediately engaged in friendly banter about the games. One guy of Tongan decent, who was probably 6'5" and had muscles piled-on to his massive frame came over and leaned in very close to ask, "Hey DEN, Bradah, YOU MIND FOR IF I GO DANCE WICH YOU DATE?" (*That didn't happen, I thought channeling a classic moment from the bar-scene in, Animal House, would be funny...but like the Toronto Blue Jays in the late innings of last night's game, "Swing and a miss". ) The Kailua Town Tavern was the opposite of a swing and a miss for us. It was fun and a good place to "chill"; the vibe was what we had hoped for; and of special note were the steak strips on the nachos, as they were superb.

You wouldn't even think there's a place like this in Kailua. There were a few steps to the door of the restaurant but as we exit the waitress let my mom through the back which had no stairs but a ramp leading to the side parking along the restaurant right side, since she was using a walker. I first came with my friend for dinner and I came with my mom for brunch after her dentist appointment, because I wanted to show her what became of the beloved Four Star Chop Suey decades ago. Brunch menu was not the usual breakfast items that we were used to, but I ordered what I thought she would like best. We had Breakfast Hash with potatoes, sausage, cheese, eggs, bell peppers but the sauce was a little spicy for mom. There were ingredients in the sauce which maybe was too much for mom. Citrus mint fruit salad, and Southern Chicken Biscuit and Gravy. The gravy was different.fitness good but, I preferred the dinner selection when I came with a friend who traveled all the way from Kapolei for some shared dishes and appetizers. She really liked it and it was flavorful and unique. We had the following dishes: Local Braised Oxtail Patatas Bravas Seared Poke nachos Seasonal Hummus Deconstructed Baklava Cheesecake Hiusemade breads Citrus mint fruit salad I would order everything again! The Oxtail was flavorful and delicious, The homemade breads were so warm and fresh. The breads were served with the seasonal hummus, and I love the citrus mint dressing on the fruits! So refreshing! Night time was busy and we didn't have reservations, so we were lucky we didn't have those high top table and chairs . Best to have reservations for dinner. Weekends have night entertainment in the bigger dining area. We came earlier, but as the night went on, it got busier and our waitress was also assisting other customers in the other room, so we were missed . Service could have been better. Not too many of my townie friends had made it to this side but it's a nice place to dine at to experience their food and beautiful ambiance! There were a few side parking stalls along the right wall of the restaurant, otherwise you would need to find street parking. There's a nearby 24 hour municipal parking lot and it's still a quarter of 20 minutes. This restaurant is not in the main Kailua town area. If you haven't been to Kailua, Kailua is a nice town to try all these different restaurants. You be surprised and pleased. They are closed on Monday & Tuesday. Brunch is on weekends from 9 am to 1 pm. Otherwise they open from Wednesday thru Sunday from 4pm to closing at 9pm and on Friday & Saturday nights they are opened til 11pm.
