I had a combo of shredded beef enchilada & a chicken taco which came with rice & beans with some cheese melted on top of it. The enchilada & taco was so very ono...nicely seasoned & flavorful, not just thrown together! I normally do not finish the beans, but this was so tasty I finished it all & left a couple of bites of rice left. My bf had the ground beef taco & chicken enchilada. Excellent, authentic Mexican cuisine. I've eaten there many times and especially enjoy their Jazz Sundays. Every Sunday from 4-6pm great Jazz musicians perform a variety of Jazz music. The next performance is on August 9th. I highly recommend enjoying good food and vibs. read more

Definitely our go-to spot for Mexican food in Kailua. They're dog friendly, the staff is always welcoming, and they almost always have a table open. Parking isn't the greatest, but just try to get free evening street parking either the street before or the street after. It's a little walk, but just more time to enjoy your company during a little evening stroll. Not every Mexican place has horchata, but this place got it from scratch. Make sure to leave space for their rep fried ice cream. It's a great atmosphere. They often have live music here. More blues or yacht rock style. Make sure to stop by when you're in the area. i love food there but I came inside and asked if I can sit outside (6pm on Saturday) at one of many empty tables, when lady cwne outside with menu she asked me to move to a smaller table, inside they were nearly empty. I didn't argue and just left and went to another nearby Mexican restaurant. If this place was busy I completely understand and would sat at a small table on my own but when they nearly empty (only 2 or 3 tables occupied) i don't understand why are they insisted on me changing table. Our server was so nice and professional and service was excellent even if he was the only server in the restaurant, he tended to all of my needs PLUS STAR. The food was so authentic and delicious. I ate here a very long time ago, 8-9 years ago and it was okay for Hawaii-Mex. Tried it again today and it was not bad. Relatively cheaper than most other Mexican spots on island so I consider it a value. I tried the red enchiladas and green enchiladas and the chicken was good quality but the flavor was underwhelming so I drenched it in hot sauce to get some taste into them. My kids usually scarf beans and rice without complaints but they weren't too receptive of the ultra light orange scoop of rice or beans. The place is nice, the service was extremely fast so that was a plus. Good value eats for sure. Maybe the BYOB would be another bonus but I didn't partake. read more

Every visit to Hawaii, I always stay in Waikiki, but come out to Kailua for the gorgeous beaches and of course the fabulous food at Los Garcia's. The service is extremely friendly and prompt, and they treat you like family. The young man who was often my server was so welcoming, as I sat outside enjoying my lunch. I recall that I had a combination platter of chicken taco, enchilada, and burrito. The rice and beans were wonderful, and there was SO much food, I couldn't have eaten dessert! Having traveled all over the world and eating in many restaurants, this one is one of my favorites! Reading some of these negative reviews makes absolutely not sense whatsoever. I guess there are some people who are never satisfied. For the big portions I always received, the price was extremely reasonable! We really wanted to love this place as it's been around for sooo many years, however, we were sadly disappointed. We came on a Saturday night that happened to be Octoberfest in Kailua. Since it really wasn't "German Octoberfest", we left and ate at Los Garcia's. It was already warm for 6pm so we wanted to sit inside but it was actually cooler outside. Strike 1. I ordered a 2-item plate: cheese enchiladas and chile relleno. The side of beans was so salty it was inedible. The Mr already said it was too salty and he likes salty food. So him saying it was too salty, I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it. And yes, it was overly salted. The rice was in contrast to that with very little flavor. The chile relleno was ok. They leave the seeds in so there's a kick. The enchiladas tasted like it was sitting in sauce the whole day-soggy. It seemed like everything was just smoothed flat onto the plate making it look like a bigger portion than it was. Mr had the carne asada. He didn't finish anything saying it was all just too salty. This place is BYOB. We saw people ordering their virgin margaritas and brought their own tequila to pour in. There was also live music. Service was ok although our water was never refilled. I only saw two people working the tables and probably weren't prepared for the influx of people leaving Octoberfest and dining there. read more

I really enjoyed the food here. They had a vegetarian menu that was delicious and satisfying! I got the vegetarian chimichanga, and my partner got the vegetarian enchiladas. We both cleared our plates. The drinks were even better, I had the spicy margarita first then a guava margarita, really really good. We did indeed top off the meal with not 1 but 2 of their desserts. My boyfriend and I's favorite Mexican restaurant! We're both UH students and their food is the best anywhere near Manoa. Staff is super friendly, prices are super affordable, and overall it's so inviting! They have very fast service, and overall are a great place to enjoy. The parking situation is honestly not the best, as there is none besides trying the street parking a few blocks away, but where has good parking anyway haha! Came here anxious to get a good meal - happily sat and listened to the music for 20 minutes after we ordered, watched the musicians pack up and people who come in after us order and receive their food while we were still waiting for our food.
