Make your own bowl. Steak and tofu
    Stacie N.

I came here a month ago and still thinking about it!! this was a surprising delight. My first time trying. I pass by it every time i go to kailua and that day, decided to try it on a whim. i felt good eating it and everything tasted so fresh. even the lettuce were fresh and crisp. you don't usually see that! The customizable bowl is the best option for me. Im more plant based and really, this was wonderful. Affordable AND enough for me to have leftovers!

Favorite quick bite to eat on the island. Closest thing to chipotle but better ingredients and taste more fresh. Service is fast and you spend very little time ordering. I've never stood in a long line. Ambiance is great and similar to chipotle.

I came here for the first time today after hiking Lanikai pillbox. Considering we do not have chipotle on island, this is a fair alternative. I ordered the paniolos steak bowl. The portion size is definitely not as big as chipotle but the ingredients did seem very fresh. In my case, I was grateful that it was not a heavy portion. But I would say go here for the quality and freshness as opposed to the quantity because otherwise you may get a little disappointed. The only additive that was an extra charge was the guacamole but they loaded me up on corn and salsa, which is exactly what I wanted. The staff was friendly and despite the limited selection, my bowl only came out to $14 which is very well priced for a a healthy bowl in Hawaii and I enjoyed it thoroughly . It is a very casual joint, but I can see this as a good go to after a hike for a quick bite.

Tasty burrito with the tofu protein option. I like there are a variety of toppings you can choose from. Service was quick.

First time eating at Paniolos. It's like the local version of Chipotle, including the way you go through the line to pick what you want in your meal. I had the chicken burrito and it was delicious. Service was fast. It's a small place in a strip mall but it did have indoor and outdoor seating and parking. Definitely coming back here again.

I always have a "bowl" every time... Located in the Kailua Shopping Center Paniolos is a great create your own or what they call "Design your own" Mexican food either in a form of Burrito, Bowl or Tacos and in three easy steps you got your designer meal woohoo! Love that they have Cilantro Lime Brown Rice which is my favorite and since I don't get beans they do offer to give you extra rice or what I do is some chopped romaine, you then choose your protein (which on this point determines the price) and on this visit it was grilled veggies which then is the toppings...cheese AND sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, lime, corn. Sometimes I get some chips and salsa to make it a deconstructed nachos but their bowl is quite massive so kept as is today. They do have a table and window bar seating on the inside and some tables outside as well so enjoying your meal is a nice and relaxing and their staff is just really nice and friendly I just love the vibe here. Thank you!

Found the chipotle of Hawaii finally where I can make my own burritos and salad bowls it's not bad for roughly $16! They have 3 types of base you can pick - white rice, brown rice or salad. 3 types of beans - pinto, black or refried. And then various proteins to choose from. You can top that w a variety of toppings (choose 2 of the 4 types of salsa they have) and guacamole is additional cost. Perfectly filling meal with the salad bowl plus chips. I love it and would definitely order again!

I got a bowl, brown rice, black beans, Tofu, lettuce, double tomato salsa. It was delicious, plenty of flavor and they did not skimp on the amount of food. The tofu picked up the flavors of the rest of my meal. They give you cups for water. I need the water due to the fact that it was a little spicy (but very good).

Very simple but good. Only 3 options: street tacos, bowls, and burritos. The Paniolo steak is the best and the toppings are always fresh.

I decided to have dinner and drinks with one of my best friends after a photo shoot at Kailua beach park. We had no issue at all with parking which is always a win when you're in the middle of Kailua, My friend and I both ordered the Li Hing mui margarita blended and you know it lasted us the whole time we sat at our table lol. Their margaritas are served in fishbowl glasses and so yummy! I also ordered their Birria tacos with consommé. It was okay. I felt like I tasted more oil and grease and couldn't put my finger on the taste of the consommé sauce. Our waitress was so kind and upbeat. She offered us another round to which we declined and had a smile on her face every time she came around. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area for a drink or a great time

But don't let that deter you. We waited quietly and patiently at the check in counter, and watched the staff walk between taking orders, delivering water and dishes. No one caught our eye to say we'll be with you in a minute, even if they stood right in front of us touching their counter pad. We thought we were being ignored. We didn't try to stop anyone, though. Others from behind squeezed past us to just get seats at the bar. However, we had a group of five wanting to dine in at a table. I watched as seated guests waited for someone to take their orders. As soon as staff were able to engage, we were greeted, and advised where we'd be seated once another staff member had mopped the floor by the table. And then the service was great from there. Well into our meal, which was delish(!), with water refills and requests fulfilled, we discovered there was a brand new gal on deck who was trying to be helpful with utensils and napkin prep, but no one had a chance to train during the lunch rush, which was above the normal crowd because of the wonderful community event right outside - the "I Love Kailua" street fair). Everything was just super busy. And I say lunch rush with tongue in cheek because it was well past the lunch hour and people were still lining up out the door. So glad everyone was patient and were able to enjoy their food and beverages (we weren't drinking but those margaritas looked fire!) in air conditioned comfort. Don't forget to ask for the salsa, sour cream, or guacamole. Once staff are in rhythm, everything works out.

But a solid 7-8/10. I had the grilled pescado mazatlan I think they called it. Well cooked fish. The sauce on top was a tomato based one that was really good. I thought the rice lacked flavor--you can always tell because it was very light red instead of a more vibrant red which means there wasn't enough tomato juice while cooking the rice or whatever. Black beans were plentiful, tender, and tasty. My date had the enchiladas verde. Yall. I'm not a green chili guy. I like the tomato based kind much more. But, I'm not joking here, I could drink that chili verde all day. It has this really tangy taste to it that is just perfect. I had good envy because of the sauce. Also the free chips & salsa was good. The chips were probably store bought and I feel like maybe the salsa too? If it was, they need to tell me where they get it because I loved it. The restaurant is smallish on the inside but can accommodate a larger crowd. The parking lot is cramped so if you go when it's busy, I'd recommend parking on the street and walking cuz I'm 100% sure cars get bumped while maneuvering in that lot all the time. Would recommend to anyone who needs a good Mexican food fix. Prices are typical for Oahu. 4 stars cuz they didn't have fish tacos which I was craving and the bland rice.
