I still think there could be more meat in the bowl but I appreciate how simple and fast it is for more whole food. I also recently learned that they get their meat locally which is a huge plus!! I forgot to ask for hot sauce but it was really good without it too! I thought price was pretty reasonable for what you get. I'll definitely come back and eat here again! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. TERRIBLE SERVICE, the manager Gloria would not listen after I told her she double charge me at the register. I showed her right then on my banking app that the charge had come through twice and that she needed to refund me for one of the charges. She refused to do so after I called and spoke to my bank representative who spoke to her confirming the charge went through 2 times!! She told me that on her system they had only charged me once refusing to refund me that day because the store would lose the sale. She told me to wait a day to see if the charge will come off, I told her multiple time that the charge isn't going to fall off the money was take 2 TIMES FROM MY ACCOUNT and spoke the the bank. Her response was if the charge did not fall off come back and we can give you a refund, well shocker the charge never came off and was charges twice. I also tried calling the store multiple times, but they never answer the phone. I went into the store to let the manager Gloria know that I needed a refund. Gloria had now changed her story now that she can't refund me because she can't find the transaction and the card that was used that day. I persisted in showing her again my bank statement that still had 2 charges from them and the card that was used. I went back n forth with her for about 5 minutes to which she told me they "cannot refund me because they can't find the card that was used". Now I have to file a dispute with the bank to get the charges removed. Absolutely terrible customer service Gloria as a manager needs to do better when a customer tells you that they were charged twice please listen and refund them. It's not okay to scam people out of their hard-earned money and lie to customers and say you can refund them, and when they come back it's a whole different story. Watch out they will scam you and tell you lies will not be eating here anymore. read more

I pass by it every time i go to kailua and that day, decided to try it on a whim. i felt good eating it and everything tasted so fresh. even the lettuce were fresh and crisp. you don't usually see that! I came here for the first time today after hiking Lanikai pillbox. Considering we do not have chipotle on island, this is a fair alternative. I ordered the paniolos steak bowl. The portion size is definitely not as big as chipotle but the ingredients did seem very fresh. In my case, I was grateful that it was not a heavy portion. But I would say go here for the quality and freshness as opposed to the quantity because otherwise you may get a little disappointed. The only additive that was an extra charge was the guacamole but they loaded me up on corn and salsa, which is exactly what I wanted. The staff was friendly and despite the limited selection, my bowl only came out to $14 which is very well priced for a a healthy bowl in Hawaii and I enjoyed it thoroughly . When we walked in one employee welcomed us, but another immediately said they were closed. We left, but I checked the time and it was only 3:55p.m. on a Sunday. Located in the Kailua Shopping Center Paniolos is a great create your own or what they call "Design your own" Mexican food either in a form of Burrito, Bowl or Tacos and in three easy steps you got your designer meal woohoo! Love that they have Cilantro Lime Brown Rice which is my favorite and since I don't get beans they do offer to give you extra rice or what I do is some chopped romaine, you then choose your protein (which on this point determines the price) and on this visit it was grilled veggies which then is the toppings...cheese AND sour cream, salsa, jalapeños, lime, corn. Sometimes I get some chips and salsa to make it a deconstructed nachos but their bowl is quite massive so kept as is today. They do have a table and window bar seating on the inside and some tables outside as well so enjoying your meal is a nice and relaxing and their staff is just really nice and friendly I just love the vibe here. Found the chipotle of Hawaii finally where I can make my own burritos and salad bowls it's not bad for roughly $16! They have 3 types of base you can pick - white rice, brown rice or salad. 3 types of beans - pinto, black or refried. And then various proteins to choose from. You can top that w a variety of toppings (choose 2 of the 4 types of salsa they have) and guacamole is additional cost. Perfectly filling meal with the salad bowl plus chips. I got a bowl, brown rice, black beans, Tofu, lettuce,double tomato salsa. It was delicious, plenty of flavor and they did not skimp on the amount of food. Very hit or miss here.......very. Sometimes I'll get great service and a nicely made order. Other times I'll get someone who seems to hate their job and makes a trash order. I went in the other day and could instantly tell what kind of bowl I was going to receive. Rice, protein, and beans went in sloppy and small.....whatever. Then they proceeded to put three pieces of lettuce in my bowl cause that's what they grabbed in their, "I don't want to be here," pinch. When I asked to put more lettuce I got a mean stink eye and lettuce thrown into my bowl lol, and the rest of my choices got the same treatment after that. We were eating at the Mexican restaurant next door last week and notice a constant flow of people walking in Paniolos...so we stopped by before we left the area to see what it was like...it was build your own bowl, burrito or salad! The restaurant itself is a little dark, but the ladies working were very nice. Music was a little loud and hard to hear what they were saying. But it was typical choice of rice or beans (the only negative is their is cilantro in the rice). 3 types of beans..then you pick if you want meat and veggies, but you can't add veggies to the meat choice, that's EXTRA. Then you can pick the toppings. They don't give you much so I had to ask for more cheese, more sour cream and of course more salsa but after 2 scoops it was EXTRA. The food was fresh and very tasty. Pretty average food. It did the job. Nothing crazy and little flavoring. Went here with two mates. My bowl was about $12 with chicken. Lots of toppings to choose from but somehow the whole bowl wasn't that memorable. I feel like I could've made this myself.
