Meymandi Concert Hall is located in the Martin Marietta Center. Parking is nearby in the lots and garages. It has a nice seating arrangement and the acoustics are great. I've seen the Raleigh Ringers perform here multiple times, the NC Symphony and some concerts. I like that they have escalators to get to the lower level and that the women's restroom has in entrance and exit door to keep things moving. read more

This low review is not a reflection of the venue itself, and CERTAINLY not the symphony (they were fantastic) but the Meymandi staff. My partner and I attended the 1812/ Tchaikovsky violin concerto concert on Friday, February 20. Upon entry, I had my ticket stored in my Google Wallet, which, according to the website, should have been fine. The individual scanning tickets said I would have to navigate through Ticketmaster, and given I had no wifi, this delayed our entrance and was somewhat embarrassing. Once the concert was finished, leaving was very difficult. All of the patrons are ushered up 2 escalators. An individual fell, and, understandably, the escalators were shut down. I attempted to use the rear exit, just a few feet away, but an usher told me she was "not permitted to let people use these exits under any circumstances". I explained these are emergency exits and an emergency had just occurred, but she replied that we would "have to find another exit". Given the level of the NC Symphony and other performers at the venue along with the price I paid for front row admission, I would expect MUCH better from the staff. I get better service at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park for a fraction of the price. I sincerely hope these issues are remedied. I will say the sound quality, view and comfort of the seating were all outstanding, but the staff left much to be desired. read more

Talk about class... you will find it here. This is probably one of the classiest concert venues in the area. Parking is normally ok downtown just be prepared to pay a decent penny to park. The location is perfect. After a show, its within walking distance to so much. The decor is probably my favorite part about this place. I love the grand entrance. Its drop dead gorgeous. The service from people working events is normally spot on! Be sure to see one of the Christmas plays/shows that take place during the holiday! You won't be disappointed! read more

Acoustically this theater is as close to perfect as any I've ever been in. No matter where you're sitting the sound is spot-on. Truly awesome. It's small, intimate, yet TALL. I confess to being scared of heights so am not a fan of being high up in the box seats. That being said, the reason I can't proclaim this theater to be 5-stars is the seating in the back of the first floor. There is a serious design flaw back there in that if you're not on the aisle there's no other way out without climbing over others. If you're in the middle of a back row you are so trapped. God forbid there ever be an emergency and folks have to get out fast, because you won't be able to do it if you're seated back there. Now assuming no such emergency ever exists, and assuming every performance here includes our incredible NC Symphony than we're all in great shape! read more

I come to watch the NC Symphony about twice a year and it is so easy. The venue is small and intimate, and the bathrooms are clean and spacious. Be prepared to park and walk a bit to get here, but that's downtown for you. Staff is always on hand to help you find your seat, and it's nice that there's a coat check right by the escalator you take to get down to the main orchestra seating. I haven't tried any of the drinks but it's very conveniently located--a nice bar, and some coffee as well! read more

I attended the December 2014 concert of the Raleigh Ringers here. Arrived at the venue maybe 30 minutes before the show was to begin. Staff did a great job of moving the line into the facility. We had orchestra level seats and took the escalator down to that entrance. Great sight lines in the concert hall and wonderful acoustics. Seat space was enough so I didn't feel crammed into the seat. After the concert exiting the premises was a quick and efficient operation. Hope to be able to return for a North Carolina Symphony performance in the future. read more

This is a great size for a theater- its not too sprawling, but quite large. There is plenty of parking (except when Harry Potter is playing next door apparently)- but just across the way is a paid lot for $5. As far as seating goes, I think the first balcony has excellent views- its not too far away, and being a bit higher beats being in the back of the ground floor (in my opinion). read more

This review is specifically for the concert hall, where we've seen several symphony and classical music performances (and even a jazz big band). Staff are polite and the sound quality is good. Even the back row is not too, too far from the stage. You can pay to park at nearby lots, or if you get there early enough, you can find free street parking after 5pm. If you want to save on service charges, buy your tickets at the box office rather than through Ticketmaster. There is a tiny box office in front of the main part of the building. read more

The NC Symphony brought me to Meymandi Concert Hall. It was so amazing that I literally had tears in my eyes. I'm not sure whether or not my date knew that though. We went there February 18, 2009 and had a magnificent experience. It was just so beautiful and surreal. I absolutely adore music of most any kind and had never been to the symphony before. Truly a breathtaking experience. I have a few gripes though. I only wish we'd had better seats. We were all the way at the top and there was barely any leg room. I can sit all ladylike with my legs crossed and whatnot, but it was tight. It was also very warm inside. I realize that it was February, but the air circulation was not very good. Even though we were high we had an okay view and the sound was fantastic even from afar. read more

Meymandi Concert Hall is a great place to see a show! We've been at least a dozen times to see the NC Symphony and attend Pine Cone Bluegrass events. The hall was built specifically for the NC Symphony. The space is gorgeous and the acoustics are amazing. There is not a bad seat in the place. Parking is easy with a number of lots and garages nearby and there are many restaurants within walking distance for the pre/post performance meal. read more

Really amazing and breathtaking theater to visit. The entire theater has seats all around and on good days the seats are jam packed with people watching the symphonies. I love coming here myself to watch and listen to the incredible sounds of the performers and the theater actually carries the sound pretty far so it's easy to hear everything. read more

I enjoy the symphony, so when I heard the classical music tour was coming I made plans to get a sitter and go on a date night with my husband. It was a rainy Friday night yet we lucked upon parking right out front. My tickets were at will call so was able to skip the line and go right in. Afterwards we decided to try one of the specialty drinks of the evening(Purple Rain dedicated to Prince who just passed away and The Walrus dedicated to the Beatles whose music was the focus of the show). The drinks tasted pretty similar and too sweet for my liking. Craft cocktails are probably not their strongsuit, so will get wine next time. After we received our programs, we got seated and was ready to hear the symphony. The show started on time and it was indeed a wonderful musical tribute to the Beatles. Why the 3 stars..the seats were very uncomfortable. So much so that we left at intermission for real drinks and live music at RYE. read more

Great way to end the day listening to the music of movie blockbusters such as Titantic, Jaws, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean, just to name a few. The Raleigh Orchestra put on a great performance and the acoustics in the hall was wonderful. I don't think there is a bad seat in the place. read more

We got tickets to the Rolling Stones "garage band" backed up by the symphony. I guess nobody there knows how to operate a sound board because the sound was absolutely horrible. I own a business that takes pride in providing our clients with great sound and a concert hall should have better sound than my clients living room. There was no lows or highs just midrange. You could not hear the symphony over the storage unit band. We left after about 20 minutes because my ears couldn't handle listening anymore. Don't waste your hard earned money. read more

I went to Meymandi Concert Hall last night to see the Aziz Ansari show, who btw absolutely killed it, and I really liked the Hall. The acoustics were very nice and you could clearly hear Aziz and his opening act. The only downside to this Hall is the lack of space in the seat aisle. If someone has to leave your row, just get ready to stand no matter if they are small or large. Overall, this is a nice Hall and I would not mind coming back for another show. read more

This is the concert hall at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts downtown. It is the home of the North Carolina Symphony, but it hosts a lot of other concerts, as well. This is a sleek and modern looking facility, and because it's fairly new, the acoustics are quite good. It has a pretty narrow shape, so the views of the stage are pretty good, too. The seats are comfortable, and there is plenty of leg room between rows. I've enjoyed coming here for concerts. The parking situation in this area of downtown in the evenings seems fine--I've never had any trouble finding space (but then, I tend to arrive early for events anyway). read more

The acoustics are excellent--unless you get stuck in the orchestra under the balcony! If you have any choice, do not sit there for a symphony performance. Great hall. We've attended many wonderful shows here. But...One note of caution when buying tickets: the seating chart doesn't show that the lower balcony overhangs several of the last rows in the back of orchestra (first level) creating sort of a cave-like effect in the rear orchestra. The seats back there are not very good -- low ceiling above, poor acoustics, poor ventilation. We had the misfortune of getting seats there for a performance this winter.
