What a nice new Mexican spot in Rolesville! Place is huge, which is a good thing cause they were doing quite the huge business when we showed up for a Sunday lunch. Luckily we didn't have to wait for a small table, and were given three menus. Drinks, food and dessert. Lots of choices! We were immediately brought some excellent chips and salsa. Drink prices are crazy high. I wanted a skinny margarita and was shown one called El Jefe in the Shaker section for $19.99. When it arrived, I could see why it was so expensive. The whole shaker comes to the table along with a glass of it. So it's a lot of liquid, although not in a boozy way. Very refreshing. I got the Chicken ACP which was very tasty. I've had something similar at other restaurants that came with pineapple in it and that would take this dish to another level. He got a quesadilla bowl which was a large amount of food. One of the rare times he's brought leftovers home and lots of it. We were both impressed with the nice quality. Staff here are excellent. My friend was raving about Mezcalito so I decided to try it out. I did carry out instead of eating in. I requested an extra bag of chips since there was only one small bag with my to-go oder for the dip trio and was charged $5 for a "large" bag which is insane. When I arrived home and opened the take out bag, it was missing my dip. I had already driven 20 minutes round trip and wasn't going to make it 40 so I called and asked for a refund on the dip. They said it would be back in my account within 3 business days. It's been 2.5 weeks now and still no refund. The food is really good and if it weren't for the price gouging on some chips and forgetting the $10 dip I paid for and not refunding it, this would have been a 5-star experience. read more

VERY busy but honestly SO GOOD! They told us a 45 min wait... we were sat within 10 mins. Parking can be tricky because it's in a busy shopping center. There's an inside or outside. You can wait at one of the bars while you wait for a table. It's got lots of plants and lighting inside so very cute. My husband ordered guac and chicharon because he's keto. Came out a little later than expected but still he loved it and said he will order it EVERY time. Chips are good but have a salt lime flavor. I got the birria tacos. Tried out the new Mezalito in Rolesville. It's a good Mexican spot, worthy of a try. The restaurant is divided into 2 sections downstairs, with an upstairs patio for when the weather warms up. The music is LOUD, so not the spot for an intimate conversation. The menu is standard Mexican/American fare. All the usual suspects are represented. Mixed drinks choices are plentiful and portions are large. Service is quick and attentive. Time from order to service less than 10 minutes. Warm chips and house-made salsa brought to the table with the drinks. Tried an ACP (Arroz con Pollo) with a sampler of chicken, steak and shrimp. It's priced ala carte this way, but couldn't decide on a protein. It's a nice-sized portion, with plentiful helpings of proteins atop rice and vegetables. Of the 3, shrimp was the most tasty - nicely spiced and cooked just right - crisp crunch on the outside, firm and not mushy on the inside. Definitely will order this again next time - maybe with one of the other options. I can't say that there's much that's unique about this spot. But the service and food are good. Prices are reasonable, and it's close to home. Definitely a keeper. Welcome to Rolesville! read more

After hearing so many great things about the several Mezcalitos in the area, we finally stopped into the newest one in Rolesville. The space is awesome...a big, high ceiling dining room with a fantastic rooftop dining area/bar upstairs. Good service and a friendly/lovely vibe. Where they lost us was the food. In a word...mediocre. Muted flavors, gristly beef, salsa that tastes more like ketchup, house margarita that's way too sweet. Basically (and I know these are fighting words around these parts)...Mexican food for NC palates. I love y'all...but you just don't know good Mexican food. And Mezcalito's popularity seems to be proof positive that I need to get my Mexican food elsewhere. read more

Mezcalito is something different for this area and it works! The building itself is unique amongst the surrounding businesses, and walking up to it you just feel like you're in for a fun time. Inside was more simply decorated than I expected, with white walls, black booths and lovely greenery hanging from a high ceiling bar. The open space is nice, but be prepared, it's loud (music and echo). But we're here to see how the food tastes. They do serve chips and salsa upon sitting down. Chips are warm and salted, and the salsa is a bit smokey - I really enjoyed it but wonder if not all would. The menu is large, with lunch specials on the back. Of note, the specials are available on the weekend! I got two steak tacos and chicken soup as my side instead of beans and rice. I love Mexican chicken soup and theirs is fantastic! Chicken, rice, tomatoes, cilantro and onion make for a light but filling combination. The tacos were so delicious! You can get flour or corn tortillas. The steak was cooked perfectly. There are larger plates good for sharing such as their meat platters - which I'll be back for. I ordered a oaxacan old fashioned to drink and it was very good. Mezcal based, smokey, with a cinnamon stick. Most of the drinks (from the look of them on the menu) weren't my style but could be good judging from my cocktail. I found the service attentive and welcoming. The place was buzzing on a Saturday afternoon. Parking in this newer area is ok, we had a little trouble finding a spot but did come at a popular time. I've been to the new location Mezcalito opened in Midtown Raleigh twice this month. The environment is amazing. It gives boho, tropical vibes with natural wood finishes and an incredible wall of beautiful live plants. I was impressed! Staff was super helpful and friendly. My burrito bowl was so good! Protein was moist, flavorful and very well seasoned. The portion size is also worth mentioning, super generous protein and garnishes in the dish. They served a crunchy fried tortilla that was a nice touch to the overall experience. Their drinks also look so good! I'll have to come back to try them. read more

I've come here several times, mostly for lunch and have been impressed so much that I put it on my list of to go to places. However, the last two times I've been somewhat disappointed. The last time I came the chicken in my meal was dry, I told the waitress and she just looked at me and then I asked for sour cream. She finally brought it but charged me, I needed it to get the chicken down. Last night I brought friends for a nice dinner and it was horrible. The waitress was great, very attentive however my guests food was tough to cut and hard as a rock, she wouldn't say it was terrible but she gave me a piece and I couldn't cut it with my fork and the knife wasn't any better. (It was chicken tightly rolled in a tortilla). The fajita ordered was steamed, not sizzling and just flat. It was ( shrimp and steak) which the steak came in thick strips and hard to chew, very disappointing. I'm not sure what happened but this place is off my list now. read more

We stopped by here after a visit to the new Downtown Rolesville Farmer's Market store in Cobblestone Village. This place was hopping for lunch on a Friday afternoon. They have a lunch menu until 3:00, so I ordered the chicken lunch fajitas. The prices on the lunch menu are very reasonable for the portions that they serve. Everything was fresh and flavorful! We got a second bowl of chips and they were very stale. After getting home me and one of my friends got food poisoning we believe and were sick all night! People are coming for dinner, not to have their hearing damaged. People want to be able to talk with their friends and family at dinner but the music is so loud it is impossible. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait 20-30 minutes. We were seated by the bar where it was pretty noisy between the music and people. When asked about drinks, I ordered the house margarita. Only later did I see that they had a more extensive drink menu, which makes sense with how extensive their liquor options are. The food was good. Our group tried a few different dishes and were pleased. The portions were decent sized. I would return to this location or another Mezcalito, but I would like to try other options from both the drink and food menus. read more
