First the good: The ribeye tacos were awesome. The tour de enchiladas were great! The mole and steak crema were very good. Jess was our server and she was wonderful and sweet. The only bad thing is that I ordered a piece of tres leches to go and had it at home. It was bad. Like- it made my 7 year old son cry. I have been wanting to try the chile rellenos at Mezcaluna for a while, and finally did. They have it listed as dipped in batter and fried, which is what I prefer. I don't care for the overly eggy omelette style rellenos. Service was very good... I was seated immediately and my server brought tortilla chips and salsa, and water to drink in a short time. Tortilla chips were ok... not outstanding. Salsa did not have much flavor but was ok. They brought my plate not long after ordering. The refried beans were very good, as was the Spanish rice. The relleno was ok... very large, and lovely plating. Not sure if it was the sauce or what, but it seemed to taste a little sweet to me... which I am not used to. Found this cute restaurant through my husband. The interior design was really nice and super spacious with lots of tables, which made it feel comfortable and relaxed. I ordered the enchiladas and my husband got the steak tacos. I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food I've ever had since there wasn't much spice, but it was still enjoyable. Different choices included carne asada burrito covered in a nice red sauce on one side and a green sauce on the other side. Tamales were very tasty. Enchiladas were very delicious. Wonderful date night spot! Loved the indoor / outdoor seating options. Lots of high tops, bar area, as well as large booths. We were given the option and sat indoors by the large slider doors to the patio to have a little of both. Seated quickly and menus and drink menu ready to review. We got our drink order in and an appetizer of queso (there are 2 to pick from- we chose the traditional one, not the flaming table side one) and it was DELICIOUS. The salsa and chips were also so good. Warm crisp chips & perfect texture and temp salsa. Our waitress had a dry personality, and wasn't overly "joyed", but still got us what we needed in a timely matter. Seemed like a lot of workers with water, chip refills, and table side service happening all around us. We ordered the steak tacos, and Birria taco plates with rice & beans. They were both so wonderful. Tons of food for the price. I felt so full leaving & a container to go. I loved the ambiance. The place was very tastefully decorated & felt clean. The menus could be wiped down- lots of sticky fingerprints on them. I loved this place for a date night. I'm not sure for a young family if it would be best, but maybe a back booth would be more fitting. We loved our dinner & will be back for sure! Went here for lunch on a weekend and it was not busy at all. I think for a good reason since the menu is not so different from other Mexican places around town but the prices are much higher. 3 small tacos with portobello pieces and avocado/salsa, side of beans and rice for $20 is steep. And that was the cheapest taco option on the menu. I had a bowl of tortilla soup which was very tasty, excellent broth and nice tender grilled pieces of chicken. ($14). Came here midday Saturday before a Duck football game. Was pleasantly surprised to be sat immediately, even for 7 people. Place is sizable (had been to the location before when it was a Thai restaurant) and I like the modern vibe. They had a spot up front dedicated to their Dia de los Muertos altar which was lovely. Our server was very nice, even if he seemed a bit stretched and busy. I imagine speed of service would be better if it wasn't before a football game but not really complaining as it gave us plenty of time to chat and munch on our appetizers - elote, guacamole & the flaming mezcaluna queso. All three aperitivos were quite good, the guac and queso were put together fresh right at our table which I was completely unaware of! I felt the serving sizes could have been increased but 3 apps for 7 people turned out just fine. And yes, the queso really does get lit up! I ordered the tour de enchiladas (I can't speak to anyone else's food except that serving sizes were good!). The tour comes with carnitas w/green sauce, carne asada w/cream sauce and pollo w/red sauce. The carne asada and cream sauce was my favorite which I didn't think would happen. There was something odd about the "red" sauce of the pollo enchilada, it was my least favorite. But the other two were quite good. Note that this dish does NOT come with rice and beans. Overall I was happy with our experience, but dishes do tend to be on the expensive side of things. read more

Straightforward and delish. 5 stars. Seafood Cortez - hubby and I shared this dish since it had jumbo shrimp skewers, a fantastic crab enchilada and fresh mixed vegetables. The sherry wine sauce really tied the dish together and made the rice more unctuous. Super yummy! 5 stars! Kids Enchiladas - kiddo was jazzed to get lemonade with his meal and was already eating before I could snap a picture. They do cut it off the trompo in front of you but a lot of food trucks will do this for much cheaper. My family and I love this restaurant! We don't eat out very often, but when we do, Mezcaluna is by far, our favorite. The food is amazing. They have so many delicious choices unlike most Mexican restaurants in this town. Some of our favorites are steak fajitas, spinach enchiladas, rib eye tacos, Camarones, and Molcajete. We visit Mescaluna every New Year's Eve and every birthday. It's a very special place on your birthday. All the servers sing happy birthday to you in Spanish and English, with a little surprise desert. The manager, Norberto, is so kind. He's always there, and accommodating, if you need anything! All the servers are so friendly. Alysia, is our favorite. She goes out of her way to make sure we are happy every time. The bartender, Veronica, makes the best espresso martinis (Mexican style) I've ever tasted! The Margaritas and Bloody Mary's are also a favorite. The location is near Valley River. It's very easy to park and get in and out of. Inside the main part, they have the most comfortable seating, long, soft, leather booths! However, last night we were there for my birthday, and we sat in the outside area with the tall tables. Loved that, too! Mezcaluna is very accommodating for kids! They have a great variety of kid choices and it's not a "quiet" restaurant so if your children aren't behaving perfectly, they are understanding and helpful. This is such a great addition to the Mexican food scene in Eugene! Very lively atmosphere, this spot was busy and buzzin' on a Friday night. Service was fast and friendly throughout. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the queso dip (amazing!), birria tacos, enchiladas, and taco platters. The spicy jalapeño margarita was adequately spicy enough and strong enough to get the night going. The space has been lightly remodeled since it was Blu Mist, and it's much more cozy and inviting. I really love the winter decor and feel of the place. Lots of booth seating! My fiancé, his mom, and I went here recently for the first time for dinner. Parking is easy to find and there's plenty of seating. The outdoor area is nice to sit at if it's warm outside. Despite this, unfortunately, we won't be returning. We were excited to come here but the food was a major let down. The food was overpriced. I've had better food at 1960 Cocina, Xicha, and honestly even Tacovore. At this place, we ordered the shrimp fajitas, cod fish tacos, and trompito. * Shrimp fajitas - 4/5, there was a smoky flavor to it, minus points for the shrimp being small and a little rubbery in texture * Cod fish tacos - 2/5, tasted a little bland and texture was somewhat mushy, fish didn't taste fresh at all * Trompito - 0/5, the presentation was cool but impractical and hard to slice the pieces, the pork was very dry and rubbery too. With mixed reviews, we wanted to give it a try. The place was packed- a good sign. But it smelled like bathroom cleaner; not a good sign. I needed to use the restroom, so husband went to the table alone. The first stall I went into was overflowing. The second had no toilet seat covers or toilet paper. The soap dispenser wasn't working and a hand soap was on the counter. The first faucet didn't work. This was foreshadowing. I went back to the table and we had chips with no salsa. Our server immediately asked if we were ready to order. We asked about salsa and beer. My Bud Light tasted sweet and flat, my husband's Dos Equis had no lime. No big deal. We ordered the enchiladas suizas and the taco salad. (Pictured). Both were very sad looking. The taco salad beef looked like Taco Bell meat and tasted worse. On 2/14 we visited Mezcaluna for the second time. The first time we went I got the black beans and mole. I did not care for the black beans, I found that the flavor wasn't super great. The mole was okay, just not my taste I think. The second time we went it knocked my socks off. My rib eye tacos were to die for and the refried beans were decent. The burrito was delicious. The queso on top was chefs kiss. The service was really good. Our server Leah was so sweet and attentive. My water glass was always full and our food came out quickly even with how busy it was. The restaurant was loud and warm, but that makes sense with how packed it was. It's a very beautiful place. Overall I would recommend, I think you just have to know what to order. :) read more

Starting here with atmosphere and ambiance, very niche lounge style restaurant with Latin features. Seating is crowded but not in comfortable. Volume tends to be in the high end but again not intolerable based on the style of restaurant. The food is about 30$ a person and About 15-20 per starter, same for cocktails. A bit in the higher end but the portions are reflective of the price. I ordered the Asada burrito and the asada was very good, thick and tender and well seasoned. The burrito comes by itself with no sides but is big enough to fill the belly. All in all this is a good spot we will likely return but not as regulars due to price more likely than not a once in a while date spot more than anything. read more

After a stressful day, I was craving a margarita and some yummy food. I drove to two other restaurants in town that decided to close early on a Saturday and was very frustrated. I looked online and found Mezcaluna and was excited to try a new spot with late night hours. I had a seat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bartender named Veronica. I ordered a fresh-squeezed lime margarita that was absolutely delicious. I ordered the combo plate with chile relleno and a suiza enchilada. I was very pleased with my meal. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. A big thank you to Veronica for the best service I've had in Eugene in a long time. She was very attentive as a server, and I appreciated chatting with her and being treated like a friend after a long, hard day. I will be back soon for sure! 10/10 read more

I had been waiting for this place to finally open and we happened to have an opportunity for a date night this week and found out they had finally opened! We went the evening before their grand opening. Unfortunately they didn't have their happy hour menu available yet even tho we were there at the time that the website shows happy hour being available. I always have to try the standard margarita on the menu just to see how it compares to my favorites. This one was very pretty but also seemed kinda small, it wasn't bad but definitely could have used more salt on the rim. I'd probably try their margarita flight next time for some variety. The chips were served warm and they kept them coming. They do have table side guacamole if you choose to order guac to go with your chips. The menu varies price point wise but most entree options are over $20 which can feel like a bit of a stretch for Mexican food. Despite that, we decided to treat ourselves and do the fajitas for two. We went with steak and shrimp, the portion size of the protein seemed to be as much protein as was coming out on the chicken version of the single fajita plate so we felt a bit jipped there. The fajitas themselves were very yummy especially the carrots that came with the shrimp. Everything was really buttery which I loved but my husband was not a fan of. The beans and rice were also pretty good although the rice could have used a little more seasoning. The service was very friendly but definitely seemed to be getting used to a new system, team and such. Closing out our bill was a bit awkward because they use like a handheld POS system and don't give you a check to look at, instead she just blurted out does x amount sounds right and took our payment then handed us the machine to tip while she stood there. Last two times we had more than 10 people we sat apart even with reservations in advance. Food is decent but I don't think it's worth the price point. Same with the drinks, tried the margarita flight and you could get the same thing anywhere else for less.
