Lunch combo plate - Chile Relleno
    Charlie G.

I have been wanting to try the chile rellenos at Mezcaluna for a while, and finally did. They have it listed as dipped in batter and fried, which is what I prefer. I don't care for the overly eggy omelette style rellenos. Service was very good... I was seated immediately and my server brought tortilla chips and salsa, and water to drink in a short time. Tortilla chips were ok... not outstanding. Salsa did not have much flavor but was ok. They brought my plate not long after ordering. The refried beans were very good, as was the Spanish rice. The relleno was ok... very large, and lovely plating. Not sure if it was the sauce or what, but it seemed to taste a little sweet to me... which I am not used to. I will have to go back and try some other dishes, to make sure this was not a one off.

Had lunch with my wife and mom. We split the Mexican Eggrolls and Chicken Taquitos. Both were excellent. Great service and nice atmosphere. We have been before and will go back.

Found this cute restaurant through my husband. The interior design was really nice and super spacious with lots of tables, which made it feel comfortable and relaxed. I ordered the enchiladas and my husband got the steak tacos. I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food I've ever had since there wasn't much spice, but it was still enjoyable. I did like that they give you chips and dips on the side. The drinks were good though, so that was definitely a plus. Service was good even though they were busy.

I love this place! Gggggggreat service! Nice atmosphere. Patio dining. Mango ceviche is bomb! Nachos are bomb! Queso is bomb! Cadillac Margarita? Bomb! Happy hour totally bomb!

And that was how the beans looked when I opened the tin. No, there wasn't more tucked under somewhere.

I've ordered from here 4 times now, I keep getting the same crema enchiladas because they are amazing! But tonight, taste was there presentation and quantity not at all. Sorry it was the end of the night but gees.

Wonderful date night spot! Loved the indoor / outdoor seating options. Lots of high tops, bar area, as well as large booths. We were given the option and sat indoors by the large slider doors to the patio to have a little of both. Seated quickly and menus and drink menu ready to review. We got our drink order in and an appetizer of queso (there are 2 to pick from- we chose the traditional one, not the flaming table side one) and it was DELICIOUS. The salsa and chips were also so good. Warm crisp chips & perfect texture and temp salsa. Our waitress had a dry personality, and wasn't overly "joyed", but still got us what we needed in a timely matter. Seemed like a lot of workers with water, chip refills, and table side service happening all around us. We ordered the steak tacos, and Birria taco plates with rice & beans. They were both so wonderful. Tons of food for the price. I felt so full leaving & a container to go. I loved the ambiance. The place was very tastefully decorated & felt clean. The menus could be wiped down- lots of sticky fingerprints on them. I loved this place for a date night. I'm not sure for a young family if it would be best, but maybe a back booth would be more fitting. We loved our dinner & will be back for sure! There was street parking along the side of restaurant, as well as a parking lot behind that shares with many other businesses.

Went here for lunch on a weekend and it was not busy at all. I think for a good reason since the menu is not so different from other Mexican places around town but the prices are much higher. 3 small tacos with portobello pieces and avocado/salsa, side of beans and rice for $20 is steep. And that was the cheapest taco option on the menu. I had a bowl of tortilla soup which was very tasty, excellent broth and nice tender grilled pieces of chicken. ($14). Service was very nice and parking is easy, but I don't think I will go back.

Tour de enchiladas : left to right - carnitas, carne asada & pollo

Came here midday Saturday before a Duck football game. Was pleasantly surprised to be sat immediately, even for 7 people. Place is sizable (had been to the location before when it was a Thai restaurant) and I like the modern vibe. They had a spot up front dedicated to their Dia de los Muertos altar which was lovely. Our server was very nice, even if he seemed a bit stretched and busy. I imagine speed of service would be better if it wasn't before a football game but not really complaining as it gave us plenty of time to chat and munch on our appetizers - elote, guacamole & the flaming mezcaluna queso. All three aperitivos were quite good, the guac and queso were put together fresh right at our table which I was completely unaware of! I felt the serving sizes could have been increased but 3 apps for 7 people turned out just fine. And yes, the queso really does get lit up! I ordered the tour de enchiladas (I can't speak to anyone else's food except that serving sizes were good!). The tour comes with carnitas w/green sauce, carne asada w/cream sauce and pollo w/red sauce. The carne asada and cream sauce was my favorite which I didn't think would happen. There was something odd about the "red" sauce of the pollo enchilada, it was my least favorite. But the other two were quite good. Note that this dish does NOT come with rice and beans. Overall I was happy with our experience, but dishes do tend to be on the expensive side of things.

Classy Mexican food for a great price! Lunch Menu Combo Street Tacos - we tried the carne asada and carnitas and both were STUFFED with meat with excellent flavor. Not your typical skinny street tacos! Gotta love the house salsa and handmade corn tortillas. 5 stars! Lunch Menu Carnitas - super generous lunch portion with fresh quality ingredients. Straightforward and delish. 5 stars. Seafood Cortez - hubby and I shared this dish since it had jumbo shrimp skewers, a fantastic crab enchilada and fresh mixed vegetables. The sherry wine sauce really tied the dish together and made the rice more unctuous. Super yummy! 5 stars! Kids Enchiladas - kiddo was jazzed to get lemonade with his meal and was already eating before I could snap a picture. For once I didn't have to spend half my meal cooling down his food so kudos to the kitchen for that! Perfect meal here. 5 stars! Great decor (some carry over from the previous establishment) and friendly staff. They also gave my mom a fun candle and ice cream for her birthday which was sweet. Excited to try the molcajete and other deliciousness next time!

The food here is quite delicious and has great serving size. However the price is a bit outrageous for all items. There is a trompito tacos special which is 3 al pastor tacos for $35. They do cut it off the trompo in front of you but a lot of food trucks will do this for much cheaper. The flavor is good but just not that good to pay these prices if not a special occasion.

Very solid Mexican food served in a higher end setting. Establishment was spotless and service very friendly and prompt. Food was great and I will be back for sure!

WHAT? We are incredibly easy people. Docile, easy, etc. we asked the "worker" and he stated that the comedian is literally too sensitive and will walk off the stage if you laugh too loud and that they need to build contacts to build their business. As the photos that others posted indicate, we sat at rows of tables perpendicular to the stage, rather family style. It was extremely cramped. The servers had to lean over us to take our orders, and they consistently blocked the view of the comedians when they were taking orders or bussing tables. It's not the servers' fault--they're doing their jobs. Management controls the seating and can improve it if they choose. The food was worse than at the Eugene Airport. To meet the two-item minimum, I recommend getting drinks only to save yourself the disappointment. Although we enjoyed the performers, we won't be back unless the set-up is significantly changed.

Starlight Lounge: Where Eugene's Secret Broadway Rejects Serenade You (And It's Weirdly Good)…read more Gave the Starlight Lounge a whirl last Sunday for their karaoke night. Expectations were set somewhere between "drunken caterwauling" and "mildly painful nostalgia." Color me... surprised! Let's cut to the chase: the *talent* here. Eugene, who knew? Several performers weren't just "good for karaoke," they were legitimately, bafflingly excellent. Like, "should probably be charging admission or at least bothering Broadway agents" levels. One individual in particular possessed the kind of voice that makes you wonder why they're belting show tunes in a dimly lit Eugene bar on a Friday and not, you know, on a stage where people pay actual money. It was impressively non-awful. Actually, scratch that. It was great. Shockingly so. Drinks? Perfectly serviceable. Major points for the extensive non-alcoholic menu. They seemed genuinely willing to de-booze pretty much anything on request, which is handy if you're the designated listener to Eugene's hidden musical theatre gems. Staff were friendly enough, didn't seem phased by the slightly goth-adjacent vibe the place cultivates. Points for atmosphere. The singer's area wins for comfort - actual couches you can sink into while contemplating the life choices that led that phenomenal voice. The DJ deserves a medal. Actively prowling the darker corners of the bar, gently coercing the shy into public performance? Effective. Almost concerningly so. They offer food (didn't try it, smelled... present), and there are the obligatory video gambling machines for those who enjoy losing money slightly more efficiently. Now, the rating. 3+ stars.*** Why not higher? Look, it's a solid experience. Friendly, talented, comfortable, good drinks (alcoholic or not). But it's the Starlight Lounge, not the Met. Manage expectations. It's a pleasantly nice hidden gem, truly. Emphasis on gem but also on hidden and possibly on the faint scent of... well, I didn't try the women's restroom this time. That particular adventure, and its potential to swiftly terminate an evening "May or may" not determine if one needs to head home cause she's unable to use a disgusting toilet) is reserved for my next visit. A critical data point, one might say. Overall- Surprisingly excellent karaoke talent (seriously), good drinks (booze-free options aplenty), comfy vibe, proactive DJ. Minus points for existential questions raised by the talent pool's location and the looming bathroom inspection. **3+ stars. Good job, guys. Keep it up! P.S: it was ass FREE less the drinks etc... SCORE! 3 out of 5 = Good Job Helping hands; improve and attract more customers. 1. Partner with Downtown Hotels: Drop off flyers/promo cards at hotel concierge desk highlighting your surprisingly Broadway-level karaoke and extensive mocktail menu - perfect for tourists looking for unique, non-club nightlife. 2. Advertise Themed Nights in "The Weekly": Run simple, recurring ads or event listings for specific karaoke nights (e.g., "Showtune Sundays," "80s Power Hour") in Eugene's free weekly paper - targets locals planning their week. 3. Leverage Social Media Snippets: Post short video clips (even just 15-30 seconds!) of your best singers (with permission!) on Instagram/Facebook; yes even facebook. Showcase the talent & vibe - proof beats description. 4. Promote Mocktails Specifically: Add a dedicated "Zero Proof Stars" section to your drink menu/online & mention it explicitly in ads. Eugene's health-conscious crowd will notice. 5. Offer a "First-Timer" Perk: Give a small discount on a well drink or mocktail to anyone the DJ recruits to sing for the first time. Lowers the barrier, rewards participation. Good luck & I have faith you will continue to make wonderful cherished memories.

I've always thought Springfield and Eugene would benefit from having a cat café especially since there's a lot animal lovers and there's a lot of places to do. but the variety of things do, is much needed for the area. I thought it would be great especially from a mental health advocate point of view too, stress free for people to enjoy. [Location, Space & staff] I really love that the space was clean and well organized. it wasn't too small of a space. staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. I also love the fact that you can adopt the cats which is great so they could find homes. I really love the location because it's not too close to Autzen but on the familiar road to! I think the location is nearly perfect, as there's plenty of space to park. I definitely think it's so worth it to visit and spend an hour with these cats. I definitely am interested in the frequent visitor pass! [Drinks & snacks] Springfield Cat Lounge offered a few local beverages which I appreciate. They also had a variety of snacks, which I really loved since it's very inclusive for different dietary needs. I particularly love the Boba tea protein bar!! Never seen anything like it! [Merch] Shirts blankets tote bags and other cat related items or souvenirs are available to buy and in plenty! Also has local art and jewelry! I found most items were reasonably priced. [Note about rules] Only one thing I was not entirely happy about was when I saw there wasn't a reinforcement of rules, in the cat lounge area. Particularly the rule of not waking up any napping cats;about halfway into my visit, A couple came in and they were just waking up all the napping cats which I didn't appreciate. Part since it's a rule that was told by staff and I felt bad for the cats as they were napping, and then somebody put their hand in front of their faces.. [Events and more activities!] They offer doing knitting and occasionally other activities for an hour some part of the weeks, as part of their weekly events. So far, it has been the same price as a regular visit admission, which I really love! Overall, definitely looking forward to being a frequent visitor and keep on supporting this wonderful amazing local business!! Note the only other cat cafe in Oregon is in Bend. The one in Portland sadly closed I beli I visited the week of April 20th 2024, not sure why my review didn't post : ( so if there's any changes please keep that in mind.
