My colleague wanted the chicken parm which was one on the dinner menu but they gladly made it for him and it was delicious! We traveled to Carbondale to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with our extended family. The first dining experience in the valley this trip was to Mezzaluna Willits to celebrate my birthday and my son's MIL's birthday. There were 10 of us and we had a fun and fabulous dinner. Everyone ordered so many different dishes and everyone loved their food. I had the chicken piccata and I absolutely loved it. (5+/5!) our server Josh said that local regulars will come in weekly to have it and now I wish I could too! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the accompanying polenta and asparagus were perfect flavors to enhance the entire dish. The other entrees ordered were the Margherita pizza, Caesar salad, salmon risospecial, arugula pizza, chicken and noodles, mushrooms and pasta...so much variety. (The only comment heard for constructive feedback was that the pizza crust needed more flavor as it was very plain tasting.) The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. Josh was a super server to our big group. I think it helps to have locals with you as the camaraderie is evident with fellow residents and business owners. We stayed at the Hilton across the way and decided to give this restaurant a try since it was within walking distance. We looked at the menu online and saw Oso Bucco on the menu which is what really drew us in, but upon arriving was told it was not available. However, they redeemed themselves with good steak carpaccio and great homemade pasta. The wine list is a little light on Italian wines, it's "lite" authentic Italian inspired, but it's not terribly busy and so easy to get into and service is good. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but the patio does look like a great place to enjoy an aperol spritz on a hot day. read more

Many locals (always at the best places) make for fun and frivolity in an ambiance that is inviting and never disappoints! An Aspen hotspot for many years that spawned this popular eatery for the down valley crowd. Good food and reasonable prices. Don't pass this place up for lunch or dinner. read more

I had dinner here on a recent work trip to Basalt. Such a cute restaurant. The food was delicious, and you could tell it was a local favorite. I have been to Mezzaluna over fifty times, Aspen and Willits locations, influenced by my parents and grandparents, it was maybe better when I was younger, but I have to say this is one of the most inconsistent and over priced restaurants, service is usually very good, and the ambiance is nice, clean restaurant, but the food is just simply not very good, pizza is soft, pastas are always swimming in sauce no flavor, dishes are always different tasting, I wish it could be go to Italian spot but it's far from that. read more

Usually come here for the pizza, which is pretty good Neapolitan. But last time I was there I noticed they had cioppino as a special on Saturday nights (and one other night, Friday or Sunday, I can't remember). Being from San Francisco, the home of cioppino, I had to try it. It was an excellent dish, but not particularly authentic. It was more like bouillabaisse. Y'all! Don't know where to start. This is one of the best meals we have had all summer! Not just in Aspen area - but ALL SUMMER! First - heck of a wine deal. Then for apps we had the Mushroom Arancini and also an order of the mussels - both were winners. Everyone agreed. But then the entrees - seriously - we all stole bites of each other claimed each better than the next. All incredible! We had the Chicken Parmesan, the Linguini and goat cheese and mushrooms, the Italian Job pizza WITH a gluten free crust and the beet salad - all were amazing. We're coming back tomorrow. Not lying. Had chicken parmigiana with spaghetti. I don't understand why most US restaurants destroys good pasta with an overload of tomato sauce. To make a tasty pasta you need less than a third of the sauce served here. On top of that the chicken was tough, not tender. Is good Italian food but definitely is not the best in the valley. The price is a bit high for Willits, but some people think it's reasonable (not for me for sure). I had apple & baby spinach salad add blackened ahi tuna cost me $21.50, it was good salad and I wish the portion is a bit bigger ( more spinach). My friend had the whole wheat pizza and it taste Ok and she had to send it back, she reordered something else instead. Service is good, maybe add smiles next time. The food is what gives it four stars. The full star was taken off for inattentive service and the prices. Was there Saturday with a group of 8 and had a delicious meal. We were visiting the Aspen area from Florida and stumbled upon this gem. We arrived early. The restaurant is tastefully modern in decor. The service was good but I believe they could they were short staffed. I had short rib ravioli and my companion had chicken piccata with polenta. Both were excellent. Drinks and bread and calamari were all very good. If you are in the area give this place a try. Prices are reasonable so give them a try! read more

We stopped by for happy hour and settled in at an outside table only to be told by a server that we needed to sit at the bar to obtain happy hour pricing. My wife was on crutches so the manager's approval was required for us to sit at a table for happy hour. The bar and restaurant are beautiful and the wood fired pizza so tempting, but we stuck with 4 house margaritas at $5 each before departing. read more

We were on our way back to Glenwood springs from Aspen and were looking for restaurants to dine in and just happened to take turn looking at some restaurants online as everything else would close my the time we make it to Glenwood springs. We found this amazing restaurant, great food ,beautiful ambiance and to top it we came home with great experience and service that was catered to us by Dough . He was amazing and every dish he recommended was delicious . Amazing service by him really complimented to the food and made us happy. We promise to come back whenever we visit back to Colorado and would definitely recommend to all our friends and family. read more

Hard to believe the rating this restaurant has . Service was horrible had to wait to come in ,wait for the menu ,wait for the waiter to take order and still had to wait some more to have the WAITER! Take the Oder. Then it took 20 minutes for the drinks to show up witch I had to call manager get our glasses of wine that was sitting at the bar station. Then it took another waiter to bring food , then had to ask another waiter to bring a steak knife to eat my steak really ! Then when my steak and fries was place at table the plate would spin around like a lazy Susan going around and around . I did show the manger and he looked at me like it's supposed to be like that Really! Every time i tried to cut a piece of steak the plate would move around . To fix the problem I had to place my napkin under neath it to keep it from spinning around . Waiter had the Nerve to ask me how's everything. Steak was burned but the Calamari was good but they didn't bring lemon wedges with the Oder had to ask another waiter to bring it by then I was almost done with it . After traveling for 12 hours I was looking for the perfect place to grab a great meal. This place was it! Located in a cute little circle of restaurants is this romantic but not too fancy Italian restaurant. It is warm and super cozy. I ordered the grilled salmon and a side of fries. The salmon was cooked PERFECTLY and the the cauliflower mash and broccoli side was amazing. Filled with flavor and left me totally satisfied. The sides were small for the price but I was filled by the end with the fries. I went with three work friends and it was the perfect vibe for a dinner and a quick drink. This restaurant also is great for a date or a family dinner out. I would recommend this to anyone staying in this area for a great meal! read more

This is our " go to " pizza place! Service is good and pizza is consistently delicious. We split a salad and enjoy a beer or a glass of wine. We tend to go early on the weekends due to the loud bar crowd. Sounds issues , to us, is the only downside. read more
