The drinks were great, dinner was amazing, dessert.....not so much there was a hair in my crème brûlé.

After reading some of the replies, I'm really glad we had a fantastic dinner at Tiny Pine Bistro. We arrived at opening and chose to sit outside. It is the cutest, most quaint space you could imagine. We started out with the cheese plate and some drinks. Everything was excellent. I opted for the elk, my husband the 8 oz steak and our son the kid's burger. Everything was hot, seasoned perfectly and although people complain about the prices, the portions were hefty and definitely worth it. We really enjoyed our time, the food, live music, atmosphere and staff. Thank you for a great meal and wonderful experience, Chef Chuck and staff. We'll be back next time we're in town! read more

Our waitress was phenomenal she was attentive and it was evident she had a lot of tables all fully sat. The cocktails were excellent as well. The food: mediocre at best. Supposed to be coursed but the entrees also came out separately by 3-4 min. The $2 of slightly warm elote corn was not worth $13 by a long shot and I'm not even going into the entrees because it would be too mean. Kitchen gets 0 stars and the bar and waitress get the rest. read more

Stopped here on our way to dinner before going to Aspen. I'd been here a year prior with some girlfriends and had such a lovely meal, wanted to bring my husband here! The wildflower honey and salt biscuit had been living in my head for a year and definitely wanted to get that again. We started with the biscuit and the the hamachi crudo, which was prepared like ceviche and served over homemade sourdough. This was delicious!! So fresh and good seasoning - would've prepared the sourdough be sliced slightly thinner and crispier but it was delicious. For entrees, we split the bone in pork chop (sauce espagnole, sweet corn, red pepper, chimichurri) and Pommes Dauphinoise. Both were massive portions and more than enough for us to split. I personally didn't love the pork chop flavor but that was me - the corn reminded me of succotash which I'm not a huge fan of. However the pork was cooked really well and it was a beautiful plate. The potatoes were very rich and we ended up taking most of them as leftovers. Appetizers hit it out of the park for us and entree was solid! Really cute place in Carbondale. read more

We have been here so many times I've lost count, I just wish I had shared our experiences on here before now. The staff are welcoming and friendly, the ambiance is different depending on where you sit, always comfortable and eclectic. The food is so so good, we have become regular crudo, hangar steak and pork chop connoisseurs, the cauliflower appetizer is also a favorite. The burgers are to die for and just as excellent to go! The desserts, my recommendation is if you see one you fancy order it first, one of tonight's offerings was an orange creamsicle cake, amazing in all the right ways, flavor, texture and overall yumminess. On a different note I'm a more than a bit disappointed in my fellow humans reading the extremely personal and disparaging comments in some of the reviews. read more

This is only my third 5* review ever but Tiny Pine deserves it! The Bistro is cozy and charming, the hostess is welcoming, the staff is friendly and the chef is really good! The wines by the glass are well chosen and offer a good variety. The menu is varied and often a special or two. If the brisket sandwich is on special Do Not pass on this...best brisket you'll have at any restaurant in the Roaring Fork Valley! We also recommend the Local Tomato appetizer, the Salmon and vegetables, the pork chop, the hanger steak with a yummy sauce and the most delicious potatoes you'll ever eat. Please see the attached photo so that you know why I came back. Chef Chuck decided that being on his computer in his kitchen is the same as cooking in it. Unfortunately, my return to Tiny Pine Bistro a few months later demonstrates how his unhinged tirades are better and more entertaining than his food. I did not return by choice, but for a friend's engagement party. With his comments and private messages to people who give bad reviews, I am thoroughly convinced this restaurant only has good reviews because the owners (the hostess and the chef) cyberbully anyone who thinks their establishment is subpar, which they have thoroughly convinced me it is. The food: salty and overdone. Atmosphere: overcrowded and loud. Service: mediocre at best since the servers are completely overwhelmed. At this point, I feel like I should refer Chef Chuck to the Aspen Hope Center since his outlandish insults speak more to a deeper issue rather than just pride in his food. I would encourage everyone to avoid a place that does not stand for what Carbondale is all about: community. read more

I've had several great dinners at this cozy spot, including happily rocking in a rocking chair on their porch eating delicious pasta. Last night though I went with a friend, sat at the bar, and got drinks and a biscuit- heaven! The biscuit is soft and melty with honey butter and sea salt, the bartender was incredibly kind and passionate, sharing all sorts of interesting fun mixologist type things. I'm pregnant and he whipped up such a fancy delicious mocktail that made me feel like I was having the real thing. So nice to have a place that feels homey yet fancy and genuine folks who care about their work and community. read more

We visited Tiny Pine Bistro the last night of the season for their Tiki Bar in the back patio. Live music and good vibes! We then dined inside and had exceptional service. Food was 10/10 across the board! Great spot for a date night. Started with shishito peppers, cauliflower gobi, and hand cut fries. For entrees had the salmon, hangar steak and homemade meatballs allá vodka. Homemade Pasta was cooked perfectly and the homemade meatballs with local sourced meats are delicious! The service was the breath of fresh air. We had great banter with the bar tender at the tiny tiki bar in the restaurant backyard. Maybe we caught this place on an off night but our experience was less than stellar. We had a 7:30 reservation and by that time, they were out of a few menu items which really limited the already small menu. The house cocktails were imaginative but we found the 2 we ordered a bit on the weak side. My partner's swordfish was well prepared and tasty, my mussels were over cooked and stringy (though the broth was lovely). We were seated in the lively bar area and it was quite loud and hard to carry on a conversation. I had high expectations from all the 5 star reviews. I wanted to write a one star review only to receive one of Charles's incredibly AWESOME responses. That being said, my dedication to only writing honest reviews wouldn't let me. Tiny Pine Bistro checks all of the boxes. The atmosphere is adorable, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food and drinks are bomb. My husband took me here after he proposed, and today we both agreed it has moved into the top of our dining out rotation list. Fabulous food. Wonderful selection of flavors and preparations. The Lions Mane mushrooms could have been shaved or cut into smaller pieces and would have been more appetizing. We chose three appetizers, a side and an entree to share between two of us - along with two house cocktails. Bryson, our server, was absolutely amazing - knowledgeable and attentive, but not obtrusive. We had an early dinner (5:00) and the place got much louder as the evening progressed and the restaurant filled. Definitely recommend this wonderful little place. Mixed bag as far as food. Amazingly good duck appetizer. Not so good fried chicken and biscuit entree (panko coating is not fried chicken, it's panko chicken or chicken Katsu. The vegetable ratatouille-like side dish was not good, too acidic and bitter. Being a Southern gentleman and chef... it's fried chicken sacrilege! And being a Southern gentleman, I didn't send it back, my eats anything, friend, ate it instead) biscuit was good though. Another friend's fish and pasta entree was okay. Cool atmosphere and good service. Nice bar scene, and there was live music. Cool place, but I had higher expectations for the food. I see potential at this new restaurant. read more

I have been trying the menu for the last year and the meals I have had all have been executed perfectly and show their passion for food. The Bartending and service staff are pro's. I don't know how you get talent like Jeff, Lace and Teal all in one restaurant. It tells me this place is doing something right. I think this place is five stars but I would like to address one thing. Steak Night. I accidentally wandered in during steak night and was excited. Steak Au Poive is one of my favorite dishes. So I did what anyone would do. Ordered the most expensive Rib Eye. The bartender commented it was their most tender steak. Im in. It arrives and looks to be cooked perfectly med rare-med. The sauce is out of this world. As I take my first bite it invokes a nightmare scenerio. This steak is tough as nails. I looked at the menu again and yep its the same old Carbondale mantra- Lets use a piece of grass fed steak with no fat and sell it for $75. Why is this the law of carbondale? It all has to be organic pasture raised etc. Why can't there be a snake river farms ribeye or similar ethically raised. So 1 cocktail, 1 app, 1 glass of wine and steak. $140 all in. And I had to take the steak home for the dogs. Can we just stop pretending that this local beef is the only thing restaurants are allowed to serve? This is more of a question than a dig on this place. This is the best restaurant in Carbondale and I just won't order the steak any more, but I love steak. Been a few times now and here are my thoughts: Food: -very expensive compared to comparable options in town -inconsistent quality of food, sometimes incredible, sometimes same dish is mediocre -biscuits are always fantastic Service: Generally had odd experiences with service, but this week was even weirder with our server. We ordered chicken and biscuits which we've had before. There were about 4 minuscule bites of meat on the chicken thigh, so little it was actually ridiculous. We basically just scraped breading off of bone and cartilage. I mentioned it to the waiter who seemed puzzled, but said he'd talk to the kitchen. He came back and offered to take it off the bill, which we thanked him for. Here's where it gets weird: he acted offended and didn't say a word to us the rest of the night, while chatting up the nearby table and being very kind to them. I thought he couldn't hear me thanking him for the water or bringing the check so I started repeating myself twice and more loudly and continued to make no eye contact and give no replies. -unfortunately I've had odd experiences with him as our waiter twice now -the owners are lovely and kind whenever we've interacted Ambiance: Super cute and wonderful atmosphere. It's small and cozy, so it can be loud, but has a great vibe. If it were more affordable I'd go regularly, but after taking off the main, our bill for a shrimp tempura (5 shrimp over apples) appetizer and cookie desert (1 large cookie on a plate) with no drinks was still over $30. With main would have been over over $50 and we were still hungry Update, reply to Chef Charles: This was no sermon and I have no belief the restaurant is "out to get me," as you state. Also, we came in for dinner, but were excited for desert. Had lots of good to say about the experiences as well, but this was too much ick all at once to not share. Cute place but took over an hour to get our food at lunch and they were not very busy. Waitress was very rude and seemed indifferent to us being there. When our food finally did arrive it ranged from mediocre to subpar. I will say the cocktails were delicious. They also claimed they could not make kids grilled cheese although I was able to order a veggie melt which was basically a grilled cheese with vegetables in it...overall not a pleasant experience and we will not be going back read more

Went there for a friends birthday party, we had 8 ppl in our group. No one was overly impressed with the food. My burger came out completely raw and I had to send it back. My gf ordered pasta with lobster, the pasta was good but lobster wasn't fresh it was frozen. My friend had to send back a kale salad because it was full of salt. The time I went before I had a similar experience. Nice location and staff was friendly. They were polite and sent food back to the chef to be corrected. read more

I normally don't review restaurants even when I really like them but I'm making an exception for this one. We had excellent service and food. I highly recommend the cauliflower appetizer and sides homemade biscuit and pommels dauphinnoise. The pasta we had is not on the menu, our waiter recommended it, a mushroom tagliatelle with a lot of lemon. If you love mushrooms and lemon see if it is available. We also ordered the fried chicken sandwich it was solid but we over ordered so I was full when it arrived. I would recommend a reservation because it is pretty small and you don't want to miss your chance to eat at this perfect little place. read more

Everything was truly amazing!! Service was down to earth, knowledgeable and helpful. There were 6 of us at dinner so we ordered random dishes and shared everything (roughly 15 plates from apps to dessert) and everything was perfect. We even started to over-order and our server Stanley thankfully got us back on track. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful evening but would've been just as happy eating inside in the quaint dining room. Highly recommend!!! read more
