The salad was just very basic, small, and sad for the price it cost to add it to my soup. As it was labeled a "house salad," I thought it would be similar in description to the house salad labeled on the menu under the "salads." It was a bit more basic than that. In the future, I probably wouldn't bother with adding it. The mashed potato option seemed more pricey than I thought it would be worth, so I opted not to do that. Their soups are very hearty and do not skimp. For the price point, I think this is pretty solid. Their drinks are also solid. The service was fast and kind. This place is a gem! It is in a perfect sitting within the mall and carries a simple but purposeful vibe. It smells wonderful, like you were back at home, waiting on Sunday Supper when you enter. Definitely not fancy, but the staff quickly greets you with a warm friendly welcome smile and some great tips on what to expect. It seems like they are only willing to hype up whatever they are serving in a modest way, because they seem to really enjoy the over-the-top reactions that will follow, once the meal is served. Seriously, I had a cup of their clam chowder, and a bowl of the Habanero Chile and pork stew, with sliced bread and butter. Wow! The clam chowder was very good, but that stew was super delicious. It was so good, we had to go back the next evening to do it all over again. This time I ordered the Chicken and sausage stew, which was also delicious. I would have gone a third night, if I didn't have to get back to So Cal the next morning. The prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly, prompt and professional. As their name implies, their specialty was the stew (and various soups?). Majority of the foods were very casual lunch type basics, like sandwiches. They also had some good combos. Anyway, I ordered their Ham & Brie Panini, and a cup of their Old Fashioned Beef Stew. My husband Caesar Salad, and a bowl of their Beef Stew. My son ordered Chicken Salad Sandwich, with Chips. Overall, I thought their foods were solid...but considering its price points, I expected a bit more. Has a small takeout area on the ground floor and a larger seating and bar area on the second floor accessed by some narrow spiral stairs. You can leave the 2nds floor to the outdoor stairs which are a bit easier to navigate if you are in ski boots. Got one of their specials for the day, a Guinness lamb stew. It's about $30, and size is in between their medium and large servings. It's a thick and hearty stew with some pieces of lamb and veggies over mashed potatoes. Tasted alright, but notoutstanding.
