Why do I come here? The humus!! We always buy a to go container. Once you have their humus you will never want to buy store humus again. That said, they do everything well and you can't go wrong. I ordered lunch from the counter from a guy that must have been in training cause when I asked him questions about food, he read the menu back to me (I Let it slide cause we all have been new before and everyone, everywhere needs employees atm). Ordered a wrap and governor plate to go ($35 tax and tip). The place was empty... however a few deliveries were being picked up. 30 minutes later, I asked about my order and was told by same guy it was behind all the other deliveries/to go. 45 minutes later, I needed to leave cause my lunch time is over. I left without receiving my food nor a refund cause I know the refund would have taken God knows how long. I was very disappointed that we had a bad experience. We asked if the wrap was in a pita or a tortilla and we were told pita. The cashier checked with the kitchen to make sure it wasn't in a tortilla. It was. Our fries came out luke warm, our wraps were in a cold cracked tortilla, the falafel was served cold, and when we asked them to heat it up, they threw the whole lot in the fire annoyed. Mezze me is my go-to place for any mood I'm in. A chipotle-esque assembly line, but amazing fresh Mediterranean ingredients. The owner goes out of his way to make sure your selections are what you're wanting and to talk to you. I had to wait about 1 minute for the falafels to be done and he offered me some Turkish coffee on the house for the wait. It was prime time diner hour on a Friday night when I tried it out. I was very hungry after a whole day of being fueled by coffee so I wanted something quick but filling and nothing that was gonna regret after having gone hours with out a decent meal- you know like when you stuff yourself with a double cheese burger with all the fixing and sides, ha! The service was quick and friendly, food was absolutely fresh, portioned, tasty, and customizable. I had a salad bowl with chicken and 2 toppings with their house dressing- I believe it was tomato based! I also got the cup of lentil soup. All was very delicious, flavorful and exactly what I wanted and expected! The atmosphere was clean, open, and relaxed with booths and high table top seating -they also have a small outdoor seating which is what I did since the sun hadn't set just yet. Because Mandola's is adjacent and they have outdoor seating too, it made Meezme patio just as inviting and not like you're out in the middle of the side walk/entrance. Hands down the best gyro I had in Austin. The meat tastes amazing and the side dishes are good. I especially liked the shakshuka and carrot yogurt. I also loved their homemade pocket pitas. Not too thick and not bland as the ones you buy from stores. MezzeMe is easily one of the best places for Mediterranean food in Austin and quite honestly one of my favorite places of all time. It truly feels as if they care about their customers. The food is phenomenal, their Beef and Lamb Doner is always fresh off the rotisserie and juicy. I've been here twice since they opened and my overall opinion is that they are just "ok". The location is new, so the space is clean, attractive and well lit (as expected). The concept is similar to Vertskebap or Subway in that you choose your base (pita pocket, salad greens, grains, or rice), your protein, and then go down an assembly line of options. The first time I went was soon after their grand opening, and I was impressed by how helpful and knowledgeable everyone was. I ordered a beef and lamb doner pita pocket, and loaded it up with a ton of fresh veggies. I also got the feta puff pastry, and was pretty satisfied with the meal and the quick service. The only thing that bothered me was that the texture of the beef and lamb was a little grainy, and came off a little like "mystery meat". The second time I went was a few weeks ago, and the restaurant was much emptier than expected for a Saturday evening during dinner hours. The guy behind the counter seemed pretty nice, but I was struggling to hear his voice (which was barely more than a whisper) from across the counter. Since I wasn't crazy about the beef and lamb last time, I ordered the braised lamb instead, but they didn't have enough for a full serving and supplemented it with beef and lamb. I wasn't too happy about that, considering we were dining during prime dinner hours and they didn't have enough ingredients. The pita pocket sand which itself was a disappointment because it turned into a soggy dripping mess before I was halfway through, and I ended up with an unappealing mess that I forked around on my tray. Man oh man are we happy we found MezzeMe! The falafel is simply the best we've ever had. Always so fresh, not greasy, perfectly crisp on the outside but flavorful and moist inside. It doesn't get any better than that. I'm blown away by each sip of lentil soup that I take - how can that much delicious flavor be in every bite? And the bowls are spectacular. So much flavor, everything perfectly cooked and fresh. Such a wonderful variety of veggies - and that broccoli Can't tell you how excited we were to find a place that serves wheat free and vegetarian dishes in Austin! Bonus points to the ambience of the space itself, the incredibly friendly staff, and the speed with which they prepare the food! We just moved to Austin and this is already a new local favorite. The food was great when they first opened. You could make your own bowls but now that is not an option. Weirdly they are sticking french fries in the food as filler. Not the same. Even when you ask for no french fries inside of your sandwich, they will shove them in there. I have never seen such a thing. I've tried this place several times but the last time on Wednesday night was a nightmare. I ordered rice bowl with beef & lamb and carrot yogurt and beans. The taste was a little bit weird but I didn't think too much at that time. Then after a few hours (around 10pm) I suddenly started to suffer from severe diarrhea and vomiting, and all day on Thursday. I went to urgent care and the doctor told me it was mostly likely due to food poisoning. This is a really specific post and grievance. I am celiac and highly allergic to gluten. I got so excited to find a restaurant I could eat at that was close based on other reviews online. When we came in the girl at the counter had pretty much 0 knowledge of what had gluten in it and what didnt. The menu is marked with symbols for the things that have gluten but not all are accurate. A sign outside read "best falafel in Texas" and I believe it. SO crunchy on the outside, flavorful, and what vegan dreams are made of. Great place to take friends since everyone can get something they enjoy. They suggested a spicy red sauce, but if I had one complaint, I wish they had better descriptions of their sauces, or recommended pairings (I don't always trust my own judgement when it comes to choosing flavors that go well together). After 18 months of not being in this area, I was excited to get lunch at my favorite place in Triangle. Sad to say it, but I am disappointed and sad. I guess during Covid-19, the menu was changed and you can no longer pick what goes in your bowl. I asked for recommendations for options that would include vegetables in addition to meat, and ended up with pita and meat lunch. Had to wait for a very long time - more than 30 minutes.
