I'm writing this after giving Mario multiple chances over several projects. We've hired him two times for three patios now -- and every single job has had the same pattern: great communication at the start, quick to collect payment, and then a slow and frustrating decline in responsiveness and reliability. First and Second Patios (2023-2024) Mario initially quoted well and seemed easy to work with. But both projects ran behind schedule. He measured wrong on the first patio cover, used visible conduit without asking, and talked us out of gutters that later caused drainage issues. On the second patio, even after giving him a two-month lead time before a big event at our house, the job was only half finished when guests arrived. He did eventually complete them, but only after multiple calls, texts, and follow-ups. Third Patio (2025) This one has been a nightmare. We paid him a deposit in early June 2025 for what was supposed to be a simple project. From there, it was endless chasing -- days, then weeks, of messages like "tomorrow," "let you know soon," and "2 or 3 days." He stopped taking calls, ignored texts, and pushed the project off repeatedly. When he finally resurfaced, he said he couldn't get the material and the price had suddenly doubled from $4,000 to $8,000 without explanation. When we refused and asked for a refund, he promised to return the deposit in 30 business days -- that deadline passed long ago. Still no refund, only excuses about being "stuck with material" or "waiting on the company." Mario is personable and friendly at first, but once he has your money, everything slows down. His pricing looks attractive, but the delays, errors, and lack of accountability make it costly in the end. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt -- three times -- but after this last experience, I can't recommend MG Awning Services to anyone. I know people reading this will ask then why did you go back to him and as I stated, we wanted to give him a chance and he was very convincing that the issues wouldn't repeat themselves. My goal was to get him to come in and also correct the issues w/ the existing patios that we have noticed but nothing. His address here says San Jacinto but his invoices states that he is in Stanton California. Mario, if you're reading this -- please do the right thing and return our payment. read more

Consumers beware. The owner of this company, Mario had agreed in April 2025 to install 3 more patio covers for us. This process has taken 8 months and we still only have 1 out of 3 patio covers completed. Mario will not answer text message or phone calls for weeks and then will contact us stating that the patio covers are still not available from the manufacturer and even asked us for an additional $2300 from the original contract agreement stating "he under bid the project" we now have had to hire someone else to finish our patios. PEOPLE BEWARE!!!!!!! I contacted MG Patio + Awnings 7/7/24, requesting an estimate to extend my patio. Within minutes, he answered and came to my house for the estimate. We gave him 1,000 dollars deposit and Mr. Páez notified me it will take 10-15 days to get the material, then he'll call me to schedule the installation. There was NO communication from his part. I called multiple times for updates and always received the same answer, there was a delay on the material. I decided to cancel the job. I've been having problems getting my deposit back. He Zelle me 500 dollars almost 4 weeks ago and still waiting for the other 500 dollars. I sent a message, but now he's not responding. Now, I have to go through the legal system. I wish I would have listened to the reviews about Mario not following through if there is an issue with his work. He was quick to respond and even came out the same day when it came to getting the bid to do the work. We hired him to seal our existing patio since it was leaking, it was an expensive job but we paid him. After the first rain (less than 2 weeks after we hired him), we noticed that the patio was still leaking in the areas we paid him to fix. Per his contract, we notified him of the issues on time, at first he answered our messages that he would come out, but when another month passed and we continued to contact him, he stopped responding to our messages. We have no other option now than to pursue legal remedies and will be reporting this business to the BBU. read more

We contracted with CM Patios & Awnings now known as MG Patios & Awnings to replace an old patio cover with a new one. The work was completed. However, the first time it rained, the patio roof leaked & water got into the electrical shorting out all the lights. We contacted Mario & sent pictures of the poorly installed seams. Over the past 3 years, we have received excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't make it to assess & fix the issue. Every time he said he would come here, he was a no show. I finally had to hire another contractor to fix the problem. I sent Mario the bill & typical of Mario, have had no response. It is obvious Mario does not stand by his work & is willing to take jobs he can not or will not follow thru on. He can not be trusted. I would stay far away from him & his company, either MG Patios & Awnings or CM Patios & awnings. If you end up with a problem, he will not correct his poor workmanship. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. I highly recommend MG Patio & Awnings for your awning service. The job was to replace the old retractable awning with a new awning. Mario was right on time when he came out to bid on the job. He charged $800 less than the other lowest bids for the exact same awning, removal of old awning and replacing the awning with the new one. We were told it would take 2 weeks. It was done in 1 week. So I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I ordered steel reinforcing plates, and haven't received the material. Lots of excuses over a 3 month period. He did reach out and refunded part of the money. Mario Paez responded to a request for a quote-new canvas covering over our lanai in Palm Desert. He arranged and kept his appointments, offered a reasonable cost for the work and an acceptable timeline that coincided with our availability. His quote understood that we needed waterproof canvas and that he needed to address other areas that leaked during a rainstorm. He and his crew came as scheduled despite outside temps of over 100 degrees. They removed the old canvas, caulked areas that leaked and installed new canvas. This was all done within an afternoon. The work was excellent, the price was competitive and Mario was a pleasure to work with. Even though he was not told, he hauled away the old canvas instead of dumping it in our waste bins. The latter could have resulted in a violation notice!! Three days after he was done, we have a major rainstorm and there were NO leaks!! read more
