Being an "out of towner," I search and read reviews. And I have to agree with everyone ... THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! From the time you walk in, you are treated like family. From the Manager greeting you at the door, to the helpful suggestions of the table staff. The restaurant atmosphere is colourful and fun (we walked in when the entire restaurant was singing Happy Birthday to a patron). We got sitted right away, got waited on in less time than that. We got our food quite quickly. The food was hot, fresh, and correct! Our server was never pushy. They made sure we had everything we needed. I had the Pollo Sinaloense and Horchata. Went in for a couple of margaritas and a quick bite. Booth had dried food remains all over it. Workers sneezing and coughing the whole time in kitchen. Ordered one chicken soft taco (chicken was absolutely microwaved) and a crispy chile relleno which most likely was also microwaved, it was not a battered and fried Chile relleno but just a basic Chile pepper with chunks of half melted cheese stuffed in middle. I wondered why nobody was in there, now I know why .. I will never be back. When Taco Bell has better reviews , that's a problem. read more

I'm trying not to be negative this year but my dinner craving got ruined the moment I walked into the restaurant. I should have walked out but I wanted to see how the rest of my visit would go. Lol. 1. I walked in and I hear loud kitchen music and nobody around to even know I walked in so I stood there maybe 8 minutes 2. The girl finally sees me and seemed like she was bothered I was there but grabs a menu and walks me to a booth and leaves quickly. I'm noticing the kitchen music is louder than the dining music. 3. The booth wall looks like it got puked on and my menu is sticky and has all sorts of dried foods on it. I have now lost my appetite 4. Waitress brings me a drink menu because I only ordered water to start so I decide a traditional mint mojito sounds good. But I ordered my food and drink. 5. She brings me my chips and salsa, then minute later my food and my drink and she left quickly. I tasted the drink after seeing there's no mint in it and it tasted exactly like a margarita. 6. Started eating my chips and salsa and found a tiny hair in the salsa so I decided not to eat anymore of that and hoped she would ask about my food. 7. She finally shows up and asks me how it all tastes so I told her that's definitely not a mojito so she takes it and I asked her to just remove it not remake it. She mentioned the manager took it off. 8. I took few more bites of my food and realized I'm just not enjoying this experience when I've been to this place before. I was actually getting upset but I'm dining alone and didn't want to bring attention to myself to the one 4 top next to me. 9. I then asked for my check but then told her, I know it's not on her, but this wall made me lose my whole appetite. She went and told her manager. I mentioned that it makes me wonder how the kitchen looks. 10. As I'm signing for my check, I realize the place is empty, everyone is jamming in the kitchen, and the manager reduced my meal $1. Again, there was hardly anyone there and I'm thinking this place is going downhill. I also see dining chairs with salsa that was splashed up on it that could have been easily cleaned up. It might take me a very long time before I give this place another chance at this location. I try not being so critical but I had high expectations as a manager in the cleanliness field due to knowing first impression isn't always the last. I hope the manager that cares sees all my posts here, Google review, my Facebook post I tagged them in but the manager that works tonight 1/11 doesn't even show up until maybe 5pm from when I called today. Have a specific allergy and requested that it be left off my order. Food arrived covered in the allergen. Server quickly took it back to the kitchen to be remade. While eating the "replacement" food I ended up eating my allergen. Turns out they scraped it off then turned food over to hide the fact they did not remake it. Had reaction requiring EpiPen, oral medication and followed by vomiting. Then had to spend several hours in ED. Contacted restaurant but have received zero response on correcting this for future customers so I am leaving a review here. read more

The food is bad. Slop on a plate bad. There's no way around it. Compared to any other Mexican restaurant in the Greenville/Winterville area, it's the worst (yes, even among the Mi Cabana's). I recently had the Fajita Burrito with steak so grisly I had to spit out about a quarter of the steak. They give you tons of bland rice, sure, but I wouldn't eat it. I am not saying they microwave pre-prepared dishes, but if they don't, they might as well be. And the free salsa and chips, no dice. Chips were stale and the salsa reminded me more of jarred spaghetti sauce than fresh salsa. Avoid. You'll be much better off at Plaza Azteca, or Mario's Tacos, or even one of the other Mi Cabana's. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant 3-4 times a month for a couple years. Food is always great. Service is generally ok. But they play the music FAR too loud. When they turn it on, it is obnoxious. If you like to read while you eat, like me, don't go here. If you want to visit with a friend, you both will have to repeat yourselves to hear each other over the noise. If you like loud Mexican music, you'll be fine. I shared this with the manager today. She couldn't care less and refused to turn the volume down. read more

I have been dining at this Mi Cabana since they have been in Winterville. The food is always consistent, service may not always be, but for the most part, I have not had any issues with service. What I have had, so far... Soft and fried chimichanga beef, pollo loco, chori-pollo, tacos de pollo asado, tacos de carne asada, tacos al pastor, tacos de carnitas (all tacos I prefer corn tortillas). Please get the spicy sauce they make for any tacos, it is the best...love their salsa and guacamole, too. My fave meal is tacos de carnitas. The pork is tender, moist...and crispy. All I can really say is just YUM. Also, try a margarita on the rocks... I can make most of the tacos, salsas and guac at home. Even though, mine are pretty good, their food is still better and it's probably cheaper, in the long run! LOL! (Just my personal experiences and opinion). read more

So far the service sucks. They have a score of 90 but everywhere else in Greenville is packed right now I said to my husband let's just try it. Chips are cold and salsa is a little runny. We ordered and appetizer and they guy still haven't brought it and it's been 30 mins now. Not anything you would have took cook either just some dip for our chips I would assume they wouldn't have to drive and go get this. But since it's not back yet I'm think they had to go order it elsewhere and bring it here. So now that I have eaten my food I wasn't served what I ordered but the food was good and juicy if the service didn't suck I may would come back. read more

The service is horrible. Multiple times we had to walk up to the check in desk just to ask for refills or something as simple as chips for the table. Our waitress had nails that were 3 inches long. We found that very unsanitary as they were all over the food and plates. We will not be coming back to this location. read more

I normally like the Mi Cabanas in eastern NC, and this one used to be included in that list. However, I don't know if they came under new management, but every time we went in they were extremely slow, and the food was sub-par. We could be the only table, and there would be tons of people working, but they cannot cater to the customer. Drive across town to one of the other ones for a better experience. read more

I was very disappointed with my meal. I had the Carnitas off the specials menu. The pork was mostly fat. When i retuned it they had an additude. My wife speaks and understands spanish fluently and the worker behind the bar were talking negatively about me returning my meal. Needless to say i do not recomend this restaurant. read more

Absolutely hated it; one and done. The best part of this to me were the chips and salsa and my sweet tea. The food was bland as hell. I had the carnitas, the pork was tough as hell. My wife had the enchilada supreme which had no flavor to either of us. You can tell a good Mexican restaurant by the clientele. Not a single Mexican in the restaurant. If you want a yuppy McDonald's Mexican restaurant, this is the place for you, but authentic it us not. Well have to say I tried it and didn't like it. This is the second time we've found the south Memorial dr. location a disappointment. We used to enjoy the food. A few weeks ago my son wanted fish tacos. What he was served were grill scrapings in taco shells, and absolutely no identifiable flavor. The salsa has lost its flavor as well. Today we ordered take out and it was ready quickly, however again the food had no flavor. It looked beautiful but no flavor. I ordered Pollo Loco which sounds and looks tasty. This used to be my go-to-place for Mexican food, but after my last visit, I will not be going back. A coworker of mine has complained of the declining quality of the food, but it wasn't until yesterday that I experienced it for myself. The salsas (both the regular and the "house" salsa picante) were both heavily watered down. We ordered tacos... comes with rice and beans... the rice was hard and the beans lacked flavor. When our tacos finally came (10minutes after our beans and rice) the tortillas were so hard in parts that my husband initially thought he had a piece that of bone in his mouth. The tortillas were not pliable so when you tried to pick up your taco it just fell apart. To top it all off I ordered a margarita... which I always get from here. The margarita had VERY LITTLE to no alcohol at all in it. The ice was not blended so the chunks kept clumping together and clogging my straw. Unfortunately they are cutting corners to save money, but they are going to end up in the hole because they are going to start losing customers due to subpar food. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I kept giving this place chance after chance to improve but it fails miserably. A few months ago they couldn't keep my drink glass filled in a mostly empty restaurant. I had to wait for my ice to melt so I would have something to drink. Today was it for me. I told the waitress I wanted the nachos supreme. She asked me if if I wanted everything that came with it. I said yes. She replied, "the boogers too." My husband and I stopped in for dinner the other day after a long day at the VA Hospital.....the food and service both were outstanding!!!

Went here with 5 adults and 4 kids. The service was good and the food was good too. Definitely would eat here again.
