A few weeks ago, my wife and I visited La Carreta Restaurant, and we had an amazing experience. The cuisine is authentic Colombian, full of rich flavors and generous portions that truly showcase the heart of Colombia. La Hamburguesa La Carreta is absolutely delicious and big enough for two. It's packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The Bandeja Paisa is simply out of this world -- a true Colombian classic done right, with every component seasoned and prepared to perfection. On Sundays, they have a live artist performing during brunch, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. My wife and I had a great time enjoying the music, food, and vibrant ambiance. If you plan to go on the weekend, I definitely recommend making reservations because it gets busy. We're already looking forward to going back soon! Picked up dinner for 4. Food was ready within the quoted time. Plenty of food where nobody will ever be hungry after. Had 2 orders of Bistec Encebollado (Steak w Onions), 1 Pollo en Champinones (Chicken Marsala), 1 Arrozo con Pollo (Shredded Chicken w Rice) and 1 Tres Leches. This place doesn't have breakfast all day which is why we originally went there. We ordered lunch and it was really good. They make a really great cafe con leche. The service was pretty good. I don't have any complaints. The restaurant had some booths and some tables in the center. Some colorful pictures hung around. This is a decent restaurant. Solid 3.5 stars Delicious, authentic Colombian food. Large menu with a lot of options. Our empanadas weren't the most fresh we've had but the flavor was still good. We ordered a platter for two. The steak was very thin and there were a lot of Chicharrones but everything tasted good. We had to request sauce for the yucca. Would definitely return to try other items. read more

Congrats to Mi Carreta! Today was their first day open in Lutz, FL. Their first location is in St. Pete, & we have been going there forever. We were stunned to see a coming soon sign for them much closer to home. Following them on FB, I knew they were opening today. I didn't hesitate visiting them asap. Mi Carreta serves Colombian breads and desserts, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu is huge. My husband loves their Colombian tamale. This is very hearty, it's huge and in the middle is a huge chicken leg bone and all with chicken that falls off the bone. It's very filling. I love Colombian stews so I ordered their Friday special which is the sudado de pollo(chicken stew). It's a huge serving with rice, salad, potato, yucca, chicken, and chicken broth with chicken also. The set up is very nice and they did a great job. There are booths and tables here with nice decor and there was also a band playing different Spanish music. We love this place and are so happy they are closer to us now. It may very well be a pretty regular Friday night spot for us. You can find many options here. They have steaks, chicken, & fish here. I live near Mi Carreta in St Pete this location may be smaller but the food is still delicious! We had a variety of dishes from seafood casserole to fried pork belly- everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful! The dining space had great live music and was super clean. The service was a balance between one waitress who was so sweet and helpful and another who literally acted like she wish we weren't there and clearly saw us as people she didn't want to deal with. Stopped in for lunch for the first time today, and I must say I was very impressed. The service, food and the atmosphere was all on point. My husband and I split a Carne empanada, as I love empanadas and I'm glad I did, as it was very good . He had the Cuban sandwich with fries, and I had the chicken and rice. The presentation was so nice and I must say that everything was absolutely delicious. When we left, we also purchased a couple of their beautiful desserts from the showcase. We have not ate them yet, but I'm sure they're gonna be delicious as well . This place is definitely a hidden gem. read more

Based on most of the reviews, I'm not sure if it was just a bad day? We got there Friday about 7:45. Place was almost empty with a singer singing. She was pretty good and the service was quick. The food was very very dry like it's been sitting under a heating lamp for hours. The arepa and tostones were hard as a rock a the beef and chicharron was very overcooked. We might try again based on the previous reviews but we did not enjoy our first visit. read more

We returned on a Sunday around noon. Very busy and kinda chaotic, but somewhat well managed. I'm glad they are staying busy. The food was quite good. The fried pork ribs were delicious. The Bandeja paisa and sancocho were very tasty as well. If I'm getting extra critical, the fact that they don't give you a napkin with your silverware is annoying. You have to use these really thin, crappy napkins at the table. You need to use 647 of those crappy napkins instead of them just giving you a decent napkin to start. The ambiance was decent. The place is cool but there was a lot of trash on the floor. They were very busy, so I get it. Still a positive experience overall and tasty food. read more

A few friends and I came on a recommendation. I know nothing of Colombian food so I was a little weirded out that every seafood dish had squid in it but different taste for different folks. I did try a beef recipe with various vegetables with white rice. I enjoyed it and took half of her home for the next day can't complain. Service was very good and the prices were reasonable. Some of the items on the menu had English translations and some of them didn't, not complaining just noticed there was a difference. A friend said he was going to bring his wife for a date night so I guess that's a good thing. If a Blanco gringo can enjoy the food then let's keep them busy. read more

Best lomo soltado I've had found in the Tampa Bay Area. But service is lacking. Visited twice will not return due to server's lack of service. Loved our first visit. I was so looking forward to our second visit. Second visit placed order described what I wanted and how I would like my order cooked. After asking two different employees if my server was bringing the corrected item of my order. Since server had not returned. By this time the person having dinner with me, had already finished their meal. About five minutes of asking the 2nd employee for help Server came back with a plate of oil and 4 eggs. (Which 2 were for other person at my table) There was so much oil the eggs were not edible. At this point the rest of my meal was also cold. Asked for the check and didn't eat the food. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Horrible service. Our waiter was overwhelmed and unable to manage his tables. We waited 1.5 hours and never got our food. No joke. We just walked out and got fast food because it was already 8 pm. Multiple times we reminded our server that we still were waiting, but nothing happened. Our server was too busy trying seat others. We believe he forgot to put our order in. When we asked, he said the delay was because they were so busy, but they only got busy after we arrived and placed our order. We counted 6 other tables that arrived after us yet were served . It's a shame because we really looked forward to dining here. The only positive was that the entertainment (singer) was good. We had dinner on Friday night. Lots of menu choices. Our waiter recommended my husband have the special beef stew which was great. I had grilled chicken. I didn't want the rice and I was able to substitute beans which were very good. There was entertainment and the singer was very good which made the experience much more fun. ok so amazing food if it wasn't for the fact that the arepas that came with most of the food and also the buñuelos tasted like a SHOE! you could so tell they were frozen! i ordered 2 different appetizers and they never came so i just cancelled them like the service was HORRIBLE when i went in there it was packed which i understand if service is slow but the woman who took my order straight up didn't check on us the WHOLE time we were there, i literally had to ask other waitresses who weren't even her about my food and other things. the restaurant is a nice vibe in theory but the place is so tight and hectic its just annoying to be there. read more
