So I'd really give this a 3.5 stars. Although the food was fresh it lacked flavor. My husband and I both got the burrito supreme. Mine was ground beef which was bland and his had steak which was bland and chewy. Love the ambiance and the owners daughter is a gem. We were looking for something on the way to our destination and there are not many options in the area. Not sure if I'd stop in again. read more

We come here all the time. Most of the items on the menue are very good the salsa used to be really authentic and flavourful. Lately it tastes like they forgot the cilantro and other ingredients. It taste like tomato sauce in stead of salsa. The servers are very friendly. The restaurant had a family style atmosphere. I hope they get back the taste and atmosphere they once had. read more

It's Sunday and the place isn't very busy. The service is slow but it seems there is only a single server. The chips are stale and the salsa is subpar. The cheese dip we ordered is pretty standard. The tea is super sweet. The William Special was decent according to my wife. My order of steak fajitas was small, but sufficient. The taste was fine and ordinary. The cheesecake burrito was the best part. My son did not eat it and it was delicious and decadent. Highly recommend it. Quick service with decent amount of space. Not too much to eat around the area so if passing through this is a great non fast food option. They have standard Mexican cuisine. The chips were absolutely delicious and the salsa was very good with a kick to it. The cheese dip wasn't the best I've had or the worst I've had. They have parking outside the building and have inside and outside seating. Definitely worth eating if in the area. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at, and that is not an exaggeration. I have to admit that my expectations for this place were not high, but I was blown away at the quality service and food. We were seated by an employee who was wearing a mask because of Covid. They had hand sanitizer and a hand washing station at the front of the restaurant. Our waitress was awesome! The cheese dip came out in 1 minute, and our fajitas came out in only 5 minutes! The restaurant was fairly crowded and they still managed to have quick service! I was very happy with my experience here, and look forward to coming again many times in the future. read more

Well as every restaurant in southwest Georgia this place went from our favorite place for Mexican food to wont be coming back here. We came specifically as the one in Albany, GA is horrIble because of slow or no service to sub parr food. This place was our go to when we moved down here and found it by accident. So today we ordered our food and slowly but suRely we got one meal then; 10 minutes later got another meal; 5 minutes after that; then we got our final 2 plain tacos. We ordered street tacos amd those were wrong 15 minutes later still no street tacos. So if you plan on coming here plan for being here a bit. Even unfortunately the flavor wasn't there. Its sad to have a restaurant that was your go to to become your no go to. Maybe Taco Bell next time. read more

My wife and I were headed to Daytona Beach for Bike Week and saw a billboard for this restaurant. It's located behind the McDonald's in Dawson, GA. It's a little out of the way, no much, but well worth the mini detour! My wife had the Taco Salad and I had the Burritos. The service time was VERY quick and the food was EXCELLENT, to say the least. The staff were professional, alert and attentive. Atmosphere was pleasant and parking ample. My only possible complaint would be that they didn't have any coffee! read more

We have heard so many good things about this place, but we were really disappointed. The meat was salty with little flavor. The cheese dip was very watery. The sauce tasted like almost plain tomato sauce with little flavor. About the only good thing was the service. Our waitress was very good and the food came out fast. read more

We have eaten here a number of times over several years and have ordered "take out". The best way to describe the food is "it's not bad". So, it's not good, just there. None of the food has the zip you expect in excellent Tex-Mex from other regions of the country. Service ranges from acceptable to disastrous. It is unpleasant to wait an hour or so for service and food, and pay $50 for the privilege! Drive 15 minutes to Albany for an abundance of alternatives and don't roll the dice on finding out if these guys are having a good day or bad day. The reason the restaurant is open is because it has no competition. They had another location in the Albany area. It is no longer open. read more

I eat at San Joe's very often, between the Dawson location and the taco truck in Albany. My family also eats at these locations several times a week. Tonight was the last time either location will ever get any of our money. I went with some of my family to the Dawson restaurant this evening. I ordered my usual, chile rellenos. I was half way through my meal when I bit down on something. I pulled it out of my mouth and discovered that it was a piece of a Brillo scouring pad. I immediately became nauseated. Who knows where that Brillo had been?!! Not only did they NOT discount my food, our server had the audacity to ask if we WANTED A TO-GO BOXES!! I think I will be making a call to the FDA and Dougherty County Environmental Health Department. read more

Great food, great service and for the most part a good atmosphere. I work at a horse farm and we go there every Saturday for lunch with the barn crowd. I have not ordered anything I didn't like. The owner/manager knows all of us by our first names and pretty much brings out our drinks when we come through the door. I'm a huge fan of this place. We drive 20 miles once every two weeks or so just to eat there. The salsa there has a bit of a kick, but not so much that your forehead and nose start sweating before you even start your meal. I typically order the "choose three" deal from the menu which also comes with rice and refried beans. Some of the other places we've been in Albany don't have the option to pick three without paying for each individually, and even then the other places don't offer the rice and beans with it. I'm also partial to places with good sweet tea, which San joes has. As far as the service, this place is usually spot on. They have several people serving multiple roles for the most part(ie, one guy brings chips, another your drinks, and usually one or more asking if you need anything). Customer attire is casual, as in tee shirt and jeans. The atmosphere is great. There is a large flat screen tv that you can see from 80 percent of the seating area. Just remember that this is the only Mexican restaurant in Dawson and it can sometimes get super crowded. read more
