First time here at this restaurant with my family party of three for lunch. Very disappointed on the food. Service was okay. THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED MEXICAN FOOD. My so called crunchy taco was rubbery, my enchilada had cold hard cheese not melted as it should be. I had to use the knife to cut the enchilada due to the hardness of the tortilla. ( very old tortilla) the beans were warm not hot. The overall lunch was not acceptable. The only thing we enjoyed was the beer chips and salsa. Will not be coming back. read more

We started with Margaritas. We chose what some places call The Cadillac. Lime juice (not bar mix), Grand Marnier, and top shelf tequila. We used Patron. One of the best we have ever had, hand crafted by our waiter, Jersey. We started out with the fresh guacamole. Everyone should try this. To round out our first visit, I had Arroz con Camarones, Rice with Shrimp. The wife had an Enchilada. We had enough leftovers for 2 meals. On our second visit we split the Molcajete, a mixture of steak, chicken and shrimp mixed with vegetables, heated in a lava bowl in the oven. This was the best we ever had and we brought home half for another meal. Special shout out to Jersey, who was extremely helpful selecting our meals and preparing our drinks. On our second visit we sat at the bar to enjoy the NFL playoffs on widescreen tv's. You gotta try this place out. read more

Why did I try it? I love authentic Mexican food, but chose the wrong Mexican restaurant. I had the chicken tacos, beans, and rice. The food was Luke warm at best. The chicken meat in the tacos was tough and chewy. The server collected my bill with my cash money. When he returned the change was a $1 bill and a $5 bill, and he split real fast! No one was around to change the $5 bill so I left it. I do not like restaurants that pull this trick. I do not recommend trying this place. Maybe they were having a bad day. read more

I spent 15 mins on the phone placing an order for lunch, had to talk to 2 different people just for a regular lunch order. They told me 15 mins, I arrived 20 mins later, to my order not even being put in, they had not idea. 4 people asked me what I was here for, they went to the kitchen and I never saw them again. The best restaurant in town. The food is genuine And the place is very clean. The service is fast and the staff is very friendly and they make you feel at home. The drink specials are great and it's not super expensive for what you get. The portions are more than enough and usually, we need to take a box home. Our favorite waitress is Jennifer. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our server, Ramero, was funny, sincere and engaging. The frozen strawberry margarita was delicious and much larger than expected. The salsa is freshly made. I was visiting family in St. Mary's and we were craving Mexican food. My parents said that this place was pretty good last time they were in town, and, since our go-to Mexican place, Peppers, closed, we opted to get lunch here. We showed up at around 2 on a Friday and the place was pretty empty. We were seated right away and a server brought out chips and salsa. They brought out a spicy salsa upon request as well. Our waiter was very attentive and polite. We started off with the queso fundido since my parents said it was excellent last time they were there. When it came out, the cheese was very stringy and stretchy instead of runnier like queso is supposed to be. It was also very oily (you can see the oiliness in my pic). I ordered the chiles poblanos with a chile relleno on the side. The food came out quite quick. The sauce on the peppers was spicier than anticipated and very tomato-y. I could have done with a little less sauce. There were more seeds left in the poblanos than I would have liked. The chile relleno was the same thing as the stuffed poblano, but just a single portion and without the rice and beans. The rice that came with the peppers was flavorful, but the beans were lacking a bit. Overall, a pretty average Mexican restaurant experience because I know I've had better in my home town, but it's probably the best you can get in St. Mary's. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I love their chips and salsa. They'll bring you a spicy salsa too if you ask. I typically get the Chile Colorado dinner entree, even for lunch. Not anything close to authentic Mexican food. Chile rellano literally had spaghetti sauce on it. Chicken fajita quesadilla steak was flavorless and chewy. Beans were runny and tasted like cleaner. Very, very tasty mexican food. The starter salsa although thinner than I generally like had amazing flavor. Plus they brought each of us our own bowl with a shared basket of chips - awesome! Service could have been slightly more attentive but they were absolutely slammed (a testament to how good the food is). My plate came out too hot to touch and that's all that really matters. My coworker and I each got the burrito suprimo. My shrimp version was killer tasty and there were a lot of them - the big ones, not those shrimpy shrimp. My coworker said the steak in his was cooked and seasoned very well. Rice and beans were also both very good. My favorite part was how unskimpy they were with the cheese (sorry vegans)!! The plate was also surprisingly very well put together/visually appealing which is more than you'd expect from a hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint. I read some reviews saying portions are huge; I disagree - I actually cleared my entire plate - but it was certainly enough to satiate. Free chips and salsa appetizer make it so you don't need a huge portion also. I was impressed that despite how busy they were, our food didn't suffer. I love stopping my Mi Casa every time I'm in town! The food is fresh and very delicious. I wouldn't call it authentic per say, but overall it's fantastic and I would put it better than other Mexican restaurants in the area. Last time I was here was for my mother's birthday and they were really accommodating, especially for a last minute table of 10. The owner even came out and talked to us. I told him I was visiting from Miami and he asked me a bunch of questions about where to eat there. I happily obliged. Overall Mi Casa is a great place to stop in where you're in Camden. This place is as delicious as a Mexican food place that is not in San Antonio can get. The salsa is mild, but flavorful and the queso and guacamole rarely disappoint. The Sangria and the Margaritas are excellent. Steak tacos, Colorado burritos, Mexican shrimp cocktail and carne assada are some of our family's favorites. Seating is mostly in tall wooden booths, but there are tables for larger parties and a bar in the back. The service is friendly, but you have about a 50/50 chance of getting an attentive waiter or a guy who seems like someone's cousin filling in. Roll with it, people, this is a Mexican food restaurant. Have a margarita. Kids Scoop: My six year old loves the bean and cheese nachos. My two year old just gets a cut up avocado and some tortillas and is a happy camper. They are very accommodating on finding something a la carte that little ones will get. The mac and cheese is just luke warm kraft, skip it. I had the ceviche pescados (appetizer but big enough for a meal with Avocado, crackers, salad, and lime); my guy had the Fajitas Hawaiiana (3 plates, Fajitas included steak, chicken, and shrimp with grilled pineapple). The servings are HUGE. The taste was fresh and flavorful. Chips and salsa yummy. We had Micheladas- the biggest ever! Of course they were prepared authentic and not so salty. Once I made the mistake of ordering something that was too spicy and my waiter laughed (nicely) at me and brought me something a little more mild.
