Mi Casita has the perfect homey, cozy, taqueria vibes in Schulenburg, TX. We came to Schulenburg for a wedding, but left with some great breakfast tacos. Mi Casita on a Sunday was filled with people going in and out. Everyone was here for breakfast tacos or their weekend menudo. This is your family owned, small town type taqueria that you know is going to hit the spot. And to make it even better, their tacos are huge. Giant serving size for a breakfast taco. We tried their tacos ranchero, a la mexicana, chorizo/egg, bacon/egg, beef fajita, and al pastor. It's weird though because the menu says tacos, but honestly these are as big as burritos haha. Don't forget the salsa either. The perfect accompaniment to every taco. I only wish it was spicier or if they offered a salsa verde also. Either way, we'll be back again soon next time we're in Schulenburg. Cheers! read more

The food was a disappointment and the service was just as bad. My wife and I ordered two Chilaquiles verdes breakfast plates with bacon. It came with no eggs, which I've been to many mexican restaurants and my favorite place is chilaquiles and it always comes with egg. This plate was basically corn chips with a salty green salsa and some white cheese. Even the bacon tasted like really cheap bacon. The waitress took our order, brought us our drinks and that was the last time she came to our table. The cook brought us our food. At one point I got up and refilled our drinks. There were only two other tables with a total of 3 people so there was NO excuse for the poor service. We will never visit this place again. read more

Service is not very good at all. Upon entering the restaurant, we were not greeted so we sat ourselves since no one acknowledged us. While we were ordering, our waitress was listening to another waitress & I had to repeat my order. The food was good & the tortillas were big & fresh but we had to order the tortillas separately because it was included on our breakfast plates. This place is amazing. We were just passing thru and saw it was open for breakfast. My husband ordered four mini Barbacoa tacos and I ordered one, plus one chorizo and potatoes taco (not mini). The coffee was good, so all around great meal. Service was fast and courteous. The only minus was the bathroom, not very clean. read more

So we came for a lunch to meet with family, midway between SA and Houston. Last time we were in town we went to another place so we decided to try some place new. Oh man, I wish we hadn't. I know we come from the "big city" but I am realistic, I don't expect 5 star dining, especially when we are talking about a taqueria, even more so, a taqueria in a small town. So, naturally, as we pull in we notice that the place is pretty unassuming, but in my experience, these are usually the best places. We get here, our surprise was a success. We sit and are handed a breakfast and lunch menu by our family already inside, the recipients of the surprise, because our server never came by to bring us menus. When they did come, they asked if we were ready to order our food, we didn't even have drinks. So I ask for those and they bring them in a few minutes and ask again if we are ready. Like bro, chill, give us a minute. We finally decide and order. We place our order and in about 10 minutes they bring out our food. Quick service for a busy place. Right away, we notice that the portions are big! Like, 2 people can eat off of one plate big. Now, the prices were kind of up there for a small town taqueria so it was appropriate, I'd say. $11 for a breakfast plate? Yeah, portions better be big. Menu reads "homemade tortillas" and my corn tortillas were from a package. *sigh* Taste test a-coming, I ordered the chorizo and egg plate with beef fajita. Beans: bland. Potatoes: bland. Chorizo and egg: mediocre. Beef fajita: this was more asada style beef, not fajita and it was blah. Now the plate also showed up with 2 thick crunchy slices of bacon, which was not listed on the menu and that was the best thing on the plate. We had to get up and ask for refills, no one ever cleaned our empty plates out of the way. Our server had ZERO personality. They weren't rude but not very friendly either. I had a sample of the dude's enchiladas and those weren't bad, decent actually. But other than that, out of 6 people, all 6 said they wouldn't return or recommend. Next time you're in town, skip this place and go some place with better service and better food. read more

My wife and I came to Shulenburg to ride bicycle, but it's too cold. So we ate tacos instead. The Barbacoa was divine! The chorizo and beef fajita tacos were also quite excellent. Parking sucks on Saturdays as this place is packed full of folks eating menudo and picking up breakfast tacos for their families, if you're one of the latter ask for extra salsa as it's the best around. The mini steak tacos are excellent and the barbacoa is as good as you'll find outside of the weekend only joints in San Antonio. The flour tortillas are homemade and the rice and beans are simply perfect. Dining in? Bring some cash for gratuity as their credit card machine doesn't allow for tips. read more

This is the very best Mexican food around here. They are known for their menudo which is the best I've ever had. My favorite dish is the shrimp poblano is amazing! All the shrimp dishes have really large shrimp. read more
