Wonderful place for coffee and a great breakfast or lunch!! My favorite breakfast is their French toast with strawberries and for lunch a smash burger or their Nom Nom Nini. It's definitely worth the stop they also have a cute boutique to do a little shopping.

Two eggs scrambled, hash browns, and toast.

Food was delicious and filling! Our server was very friendly and the ambiance of the place itself was very inviting. The small store attached to the diner has a selection of beautiful succulents as well!

I love this vibe here. The food is very delicious and you can switch sides to any sides so I got double eggs instead. Waited for a bit to order but I enjoyed the overall experience

The food here is excellent, and the staff is friendly. My daughter and I were passing through Luling and decided to stop for lunch. I had the chicken fried staek & eggs with hash browns. It was amazing - possibly the best hash browns I've eaten. My only disappointment was that on Saturdays, they don't serve "lunch", but only "brunch", so the grilled cheese sandwich that I initially wanted was not available. I guess that gives me an excuse to come back here on a weekday...

Glad we stopped in for breakfast. The ambiance was nice. The owner was super sweet. The food was good. I'm a pancake lover-the pancakes did not disappoint! Don't forget to stop at the boutique attached-lots of great finds! I'll definitely be back the next time we pass through Flatonia.

    Inside the restaurant.

Stopped at this beautiful restaurant in Flatonia Texas for a quick breakfast. Immediately, the hostess recognized us from our first visit and welcomed us. We ordered coffee and had eggs and bacon for breakfast. Eggs cooked to order and the bacon thick and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are passing by Flatonia Texas and looking for awesome customer service and good breakfast, brunch or lunch.

Decent fare at a fair price. "We're only serving breakfast today," our waitress explained at noon. That was unexpected, as we'd already reviewed the menu they'd handed us and picked out the lunch items we wanted. We weren't greeted when we arrived. We were eventually told to sit anywhere, but weren't told who would be waiting on us. After awhile, a lady approached from behind the counter, took the order of the people who'd come in after us, then walked away. Soon after, someone sweeping the floors saw my hand up and came by to take our order. The food arrived quickly enough. My eggs benedict ("eggs benny") was tasty enough, though the eggs are over easy, not poached. Still, they were not overcooked and it worked. The hashbrows were tastey enough that I left the ketchup untouched. My dad's taco was pretty bland. It's hard to miss with an egg, cheese and bacon, taco but he says it was a miss. And they didn't bring a side of salsa or anything. Still, it doesn't bill itself as a Mexican restaurant and that's not likely their specialty. And it was pretty inexpensive. It's a nice location, and they're popular enough to fill the place on Sunday. Seems like a regular spot for the locals. They must be doing something right.

I was disappointed in the Ruben sandwich. Mind you, it was served warm as most are, but after eating Reubens from delis with lots of meat, from the photos you can see that my Reuben from here had a skimpy serving of meat. Additionally, I thought that the menu had it at one price and the register rung it up as $1.00 higher. I found that it is a dollar more for a salad. It comes standard with chips. That's reasonable to me and I thought that the salad was good. My spouse had the burger, and she enjoyed it. She liked that it came with a choice of fries or a healthy salad. Our happy server quickly took drink orders, you can tell when a server is confident in her job and knows the routines as she never wrote anything down but when she returned with drinks, the orders were all correct. She then took orders for lunch, we had a variety of offerings from the menu. I decided on the Tzatziki Salad, a nicely presented Greek style salad with grilled chicken breast slices and some tzatziki with pita points. Others around me had the Rueben and the grilled chicken salad and said everything was perfect. I also heard great things about the home made chicken salad and their hamburgers. I was pleasantly surprised at the absolutely amazing freshness and quality of the food and modern/light atmosphere of this place (a bit unexpected after a few lackluster food experiences in Schulenberg leading up to our lunch here). It was every bit at good as some of the cafes I've eaten in major cities (where there is heavy dining competition). Mom and I both ordered their delicious chicken salad sandwich, piled high (but not too thickly) with shredded chicken on perfectly baked, flaky (but not too flaky) croissant bread. The chicken salad was a perfect blend of seasonings with a few cranberries for a little sweetness. Divine! Each sandwich came with a side of crispy/perfect (seemingly handmade) chips. Our tour guide ordered a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich which she seemed to really enjoy as well, complete with perfectly buttered and crisp grilled sourdough bread. The atmosphere was very modern and new yet warm and dotted with beautiful antique pieces (be sure to check out the old buffet across from the bathroom doors, gorgeous!). And this place seemed packed with many locals in their brunch attire to enjoy the great food and great hospitality of the wait staff. Behind the restaurant, they also host a beautiful nursery where you can browse under the trees through their fairly extensive collection of plants (flowering and non flowering - we saw some variations of native flowering plants we've either never seen before or don't see often so my mom purchased a few for her garden!), chat with the very knowledgeable and friendly owner of the nursery, browse the little nursery gift shop full of unique and beautiful items, and even visit with the sweet "shop" kitties (who seem to like to hang out near the nursery gift shop entrance) if you wish. All in all, a very special experience at this gem in Schulenberg. We will definitely make this our number one stop for meals (and to buy more plants) in Schulenberg when we return!

There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.
