Perfectly satisfactory Mexican restaurant on the edge of Clovis. Easy stop if you are looking for solid Mexican food while driving down 84 and don't want to go into town. The food was fresh but a bit lacking in flavor and the salsas were a little tomato heavy in their taste. The queso was good though the chips were solid! Always a MUST STOP! I have dined here on multiple occasions and not once was I disappointed with the food or service. The establishment appears to be well-liked by the locals from the pleasantries and hugs exchanged I see at each visit. The outer appearance is not eye-catching, and could easily be missed -I myself only stumbled upon it but the many cars parked outside will peak your curiosity. Once inside, you'll see it's clean and pleasant, with friendly service that always includes smiling faces. We're not from the area and are only in town every 2-3 months but it's my go to spot for Mexican food in the Portales/Clovis area every. single. time. We've had Enchiladas, Chili Rellenos, Fajitas, Carne Asada Fries and quite a few other menu items and have always been very satisfied with the quality, taste and portion size. Tip: Ask for the Creamy Jalapeño Sauce, it's good with EVERYTHING, even the chips! I'll follow up with more photos in the future but in my previous visits, I was just ready to eat and only bothered to photograph my favorite plate. We stopped in Clovis for breakfast on our road trip. My husband said, "oh yeah, this is going to be good." Because there was a guy in boots and spurs paying at the counter. He wasn't wrong! This is good cooking done right. The staff were friendly and made sure you had everything you needed, and provided suggestions on what would be good combinations on their menu items. Hint: try the chicken fried steak with gravy AND green sauce. I had the migas and they were chef's kiss! Do yourself a favor, stop here and eat a good meal!! read more

The Menudo was not bad. Too thick and spicy, but had good flavor. Make sure you ask to see the size of the bowls before you say a large because they only have one size and it's a huge bowl. Please remember that this place is extremely busy on Sunday's so be there before before 10:00 am or you will be waiting for quite a while. Also you may need to constantly be reminding the waitresses of your food order because they are so busy they will forget to put in your order and May forget about you. They do need work on attentiveness but it may be due to how busy they are too. I blame the Biden Kamala Administration because they can't afford to pay higher wages anymore. Overall the food does taste delicious and so not go here for Mothers Day unless you have time or come by early. read more

Driving home from trip to Yosemite, our party of 3 stopped here for brunch. We found out they serve the entire menu (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) all day long. That was a plus for us as everyone could get what they were in the mood for. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone loved their food. Best breakfast in all of Clovis Nm. Their green Chile is delicious. Pancakes are savory. Coffee just as it should be. Waiters are always nice. I don't give it 5 star just because of a tiny detail, they don't do egg whites... which just boggles me as to why, it's a pretty simple switch, crack the egg and retain the yolk, they could even add like a small fee for the substitution..... make it work. But other than this issue, this place has got to be the best I have found in Clovis that opens past 10am and serves breakfast till they close. One thing about Clovis NM and all NM small towns, service is pretty good, just don't expect that happy go merry attitude of L.A and forget about that privileged costumer attitude here in NM, it's a small town where everyone becomes a regular, if you as a person suck, your experience will suck also. read more

Driving cross country and stopped for gas and to eat in this small town. Mi Cocina was open for breakfast. AMAZING! The whole experience. Every single person was so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was colorful and adorable. But the food was GREAT. We had chilaquiles and a Mexican omelette. Both delicious, great portions, and beyond reasonably priced. On top of all of that, they had us in and out in 30 minutes and our food was fresh and hot. Stop in, you will not be disappointed. Why have we not tried this spot in the 5 years we've lived here? Probably because most recommendations given to us have been with disappointments. Started with chips n salsa which is why I gave the 4 stars, a little spicier salsa would be awesome, not tomatoes. Other than that, I ordered the Migas plate. I don't usually post reviews but when i do it means really bad service. So for starters our waitress was nice okay so i order 4 tacos but i ask her is the taco plate cheaper because i see it's $10 dollars and she said well we can work with you on it if you just want 4 tacos and no rice and beans. I say okay I'll just stick with the 4 and hope it's similar price. So i get my tacos and wow they taste horrible. I take one bite just gross. She comes by not all the way everything okay and walked away fast. I used to be a server and i would look to see if you eat the food. Bro bro she didn't even ask if i like the food if there was something wrong. I put the plate at the end of the table with 4 tacos and 1 bite and bro bro she was like okay you guys ready for the bill and i was wanting her to ask me hey you didn't like it or hey can we make you something else, NOPE she handed me the bill and the last part, IT WAS $18 DOLLARS FOR 4 tacos!! A must try for breakfast in Clovis. I have never been disappointed with the food or the service. They treat you like family. My wife says the Chile verde is the best in the world. I just know from pancakes to chicken fried steak they have very good comfort food at a good price with great service. We eat here at my office about once a week and if you are unsure about what to eat just ask your waitstaff and they are more than happy to help. read more

Visiting family we stopped for breakfast on our way out. This place is a gem, homemade chicharróns wow they were warm and crispy delicious. My wife and I both had the Chili Verde breakfast, the green chili pork stew was so flavorful, the pork stewed to tender perfection, homemade retried beans. This place is special! We decided to try Mi Cocina over on Mabry. Great tasting food! I had the brisket burger which was amazing! My wife at the taquita plate which was huge. The portions are large. Good was great and the servers are very prompt. We will definitely be going back! Btw the brisket burger is actually a patty made from ground brisket and short rib the server said. UPDATE: So before flying back home to Washington, DC I had to come back and try the lunch and dinner portion of the menu. THE BEST. No disappointments here. Hands down my introduction to Mexican food and I'm impressed. My goodness these people need to open one of these in DC. Amazing food and even more amazing staff!!! Don't go anywhere else but here! I picked this place for breakfast a couple days ago because someone posted a picture of their menu and it included Migas, one of my favorites. It was also close to the motel where I am staying. It didn't disappoint. I was impressed with the fact that the place was packed when I got in there about 11:30 a.m. . That was a very good sign. . It also smelled wonderful. . I got a cup of coffee, which was a little on the weak side. . The waitress chuckled when I asked if they might have Mexican coffee, but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask. . I figured it's an authentic Mexican restaurant so there was always hope. Same thing with Mexican chocolate, They only had the powdered stuff like everybody else has. The Migas were wonderful. I really enjoyed them and was glad I had ordered them. There was enough food I was able to pack up aout a third of it to take home for leftovers. And when I asked the waitress for to go cup she brought it full of coffee. Not just empty to put in my leftover coffee. I appreciated that. The service was very attentive and the girls were very cheerful and pleasant. I always appreciate that also. If I lived in town, I'm sure I would come back. read more

I especially enjoy the ownership and staff, they actually make me feel welcome, rather than many places who hire "greeters" to welcome me as I enter the door (if they are not working the cash register at the time.
