Food not the same. Too salty. It's even smaller the combinations & food. Ambiance is great.

I receipt, so you know I'm not making this up! I'm still burping cold enchiladas 4 hours later!

So ended up going here with friends because our normal favorite Mexican restaurant was closed for plumbing issues. This place was clean enough and the staff was friendly but the food was absolutely horrendous! I got two enchiladas and a taco plus one cheap bottled beer. And my total was $27.85. now I get it, going out to eat is expensive, but this much money for food that, if you called it cafeteria food..... IT'D BE SERIOUSLY INSULTING CAFETERIA FOOD! The plate itself was hot, but the enchiladas and taco we're LUKEWARM, AT BEST, and the cheese wasn't melted! The meat was downright cold. In my opinion, TACO BELL would have been a better choice in this place AND I'M PRETTY SURE WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING! I won't be eating here EVER again and I highly suggest you, whoever you may be, don't either. To sum it, up short and sweet? Clean enough, friendly people, AWFUL food!

The crispy beef tacos are a must!!! This time around I went for the grilled fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. I'm usually partial to fish but the shrimp was awesome and packed with shrimp!! Fun maritime atmosphere with a self-serve chips and salsa bar. It's a good neighborhood spot for a cold margarita and good tacos.

The service was good, quick and kind of welcoming. The ambiance was great even as the night was coming to an end. The food was delicious and it came fast. I will absolutely be returning here.

I ordered the fish tacos and liked them alot. They were grilled so no breading which I prefer. The salsa bar was great and the chips were fresh. I got the mild salsa and it was very flavorful. Staff was helpful in helping me choose my order. I'd highly recommend.

I feel like the food was pricey for the amount that you get and that I could've gotten the same thing for half the price at a hole-in-the-wall place a few miles away. I ordered on the phone and picked up 15 minutes later. Got the spinach dip appetizer, which was soggy but fine. Steak fajitas had about a dozen slivers of steak in it but they really had no flavor. Green chili pork burrito was the best of the three. It actually has a good amount of meat and flavor. I'd recommend steering clear of the fajitas and just going for a burrito. Overall, the food is standard Mexican food, nothing noteworthy about it, but it could hit the spot if it's what you're craving.

Carne Asada Plate that costs $18 now! You can get a steak at a steakhouse for cheaper than this thin, small piece.

We used to love this place but their prices have skyrocketed! For what exactly? It's not a fancy place, plates are the same size, they do very little for you as far as service, and still we pay tips. Inflation has gotten way out of hand and they are taking advantage of it unfortunately. 1 appetizer, 2 plates and 2 regular drinks plus tip cost us over $70!! After a minute of ordering we kindly asked if they could cancel the appetizer and they refused because it was already made. Gave an extra star because the food actually tastes good but sad we can't afford to come here anymore.

Stopped in at one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants today for lunch w/ a Co-worker Mi Pueblo. I don't know where to start. The food is always cooked fresh to order and comes out steaming hot. The fresh chips and salsa are amazing and bring amazing flavor. I always order the #12 Chimichanga with Beans and Rice. I will of course be back soon.

Al Pastor tacos were fresh, tasty and filling. Very full restaurant which made it fun to people watch!

The chips were soggy when I got my food. I liked the red onions, it added a little kick to the food on top of what the food offers to begin with. 6/10 Eggs over medium- not too runny how I like it. Velvety, the eggs weren't burnt crispy and was delightful. Meat was umami, savory and tender. Different than what I expected, had a little kick of spice. Beans were dry and bland. Not very impressed. 3/10 Pancakes were okay. A little dry for my taste but they were fluffy. The syrup with it was tasty. 5/10. I enjoyed this restaurant but I think it was a bit pricey for everything we ordered.

Come Saturday evening, we thought our son would fly in early enough, on his way back from North Carolina, to take him to Lon's restaurant at the resort. After a quick search, apart from the traditional 24/7s, we spotted the 5 & Diner, and it was close enough to get there within ten minutes! When we drove up, we were mildly surprised, a little retro, a restaurant we are not used to...upon entering the establishment, the staff was prompt, friendly, and we were seated in a nice booth right away. Our server, Danielle A was extremely helpful with the menu items, wonderfully cheerful, prompt on our orders, and could not have been more attentive!!! It arrived with a bun and no lettuce wrap. My husband ordered the Southwest Burger and paid for an extra patty, but received only one. For our three children, I ordered three Short Stacks but received only two. I also ordered two orders of scrambled eggs with turkey sausage but received only one, and I ordered bacon with sunny-side-up eggs but received only the bacon. I alerted the dasher, who returned to the restaurant and called me so I could explain what was missing. Unfortunately, the employee I spoke with was extremely hostile and rude. They insisted that I hadn't ordered the third Short Stack and repeatedly said they only make what's on the ticket. I explained that my screenshot showed the order I placed and that, unfortunately, the ticket apparently didn't contain my entire order. What bothered me most was the attitude. I was treated as though I was asking them to give me something for free, even though I had already paid for these items. I still made a point of expressing my appreciation for the dasher's help despite the way I was being spoken to. The employee responded with a sarcastic "thank you" and hung up on me. The dasher then told me that the restaurant refused to remake or compensate me for the missing and incorrect items, despite the dasher returning to the restaurant and waiting 10 minutes to try to resolve the issue. I didn't even mention the burger bun during the call because the interaction had already become so unpleasant. If the employee was simply having a bad day, I genuinely hope things get better for them. Mistakes happen, and I understand that restaurants can be busy. However, the combination of multiple missing and incorrect items, the refusal to correct or compensate me, and the way my concerns were handled made this an awful experience. Unfortunately, this is a hard pass for me. I wouldn't recommend ordering from here, and I won't be ordering again.

Fast forward nine years to 1938, and Fred MacAlpine purchased it, renaming it for his namesake, and operating it as a full-service pharmacy and soda fountain until 1991. It was then purchased by a couple who still own it today and have kept it in as much of its original condition as possible, including the soda fountain, the counter, and the malt machine. When you park and walk to the front of the yellow building, you can't help but feel joy. The storefront windows, the antiques, all of it make you wonder just how far back in time you're going to travel. Once you've stepped foot inside and onto the checkered floor, you can't help but smile at the counter, all of the antiques from decades past, and the wait staff who wears 1950s uniforms. We slid into our wood booth with the tiny jukebox on the wall and immediately got to reviewing the extensive menu. Everything... and I mean EVERYTHING... looked good. Bonus: They have gluten-free bread! My husband chose the cheeseburger and I chose the turkey BLT (on gluten-free bread) - both were delicious! We then opted to share a mint chocolate chip milkshake that was created on the original 1940s machine - something that completed the experience. When we were done, we were fortunate enough to chat with Monica Heizenrader, co-owner of MacAlpine's wth her daughter. She is a very kind woman who is very passionate about keeping the history of this diner alive, even taking to selling antiques (in the other rooms of the building) to help support the upkeep. However, with rising costs and some family challenges, it's getting tough. She was proud to have kept this going as long as she and her family have and even mentioned some of the more notable people that have stepped into the diner over the decades, including Barry Goldwater (a regular), Joan Ganz Cooney (one of the creators of Sesame Street), Frank Lloyd Wright, Aunt Maud, Marshall Good, Wayne Newton (who was discovered by a talent scout there), and more! I'd say the sandwich was just average, however service was excellent with different people continuously checking on us.
