The vibe was great. Really inviting from the get - go. We were seating fast and the service was fast too. We were stopping in for a quick lunch, and we got our drinks and food with rapidity - enough time to get back to work with time to spare. The food, unfortunately, for such a seemingly cultured place, left SO much wanting. The food was wayyyy too heavy, bogged down by too much salt, too much spice. No subtlety to any of the flavors. outright incorrect information (the smash hamburgesa is advertised on the site and the restaurant as a brioche bun, we were served the farthest thing from brioche ive ever seen - basically potato bun.) the best part of the meal was the birria bao buns, but even the bao buns were HEAVILY fried (again, they say "LIGHTLY" fried on the menus) and greasy, but at least the flavors were there. I really wanted to love this place, but definitely a one and done for me. read more

They forgot my order! Me and my family came by to eat. We ordered our food and took a long time to get our appetizers, (they were busy today, it happens sometimes, I get it) but when they brought the food we ordered, they were bringing one at a time about 5 minutes apart. When all my family got their food, I was the only one without my plate I ordered. I waited for 10 minutes since that's how they bring out the orders, nothing. I ask the waitress where's my order, she had to go back to the kitchen and reordered it. They forgot my order. When she came back to tell me it was being made, I told her to forget it since the rest of my family was finishing their food. You guys need to get some structure in your kitchen for customers to get food all at once, not 1 every 5 minutes, and not to forget a customer order. Ridiculous. read more

Sad to say this place didn't hit the mark for me. It wasn't horrible, but I have zero interest in going back and would not recommend it given there are so many options in Phoenix. Let's start with the good: this restaurant is large, nicely decorated, and the service was attentive (too attentive, though, at times). Started the meal with the stuffed bao buns. That was the only highlight of the meal -- specifically, the red sauce they serve with it. The buns were not very good. But the birria was alright. Not the best I've had, but not the worst. The smashburguesa was a letdown. First off, they didn't use a brioche bun as advertised. The meat quality was not great. Very oily. And the "truffle fries" were not truffled at all. Me and my son have driven by this place several times and decided to stop in. First impression was music. Pretty loud. Around lunch time, but only a couple people were there. Were immediately greeted by a cheerful and pleasent girl, who lead us directly to a table. The place was nice and clean. Service was attentive. We both ordered quesabirria tacos and I added a shrimp, Carnitas and al pastor tacos to check the other varieties. I guess the days of inexpensive tacos are over. At over 5.00 apiece, the quesabirria arrived. I have to admit, they were pretty well loaded with meat and not too much cheese. The meat was juicy, tender and pretty tasty. Just was lacking a little salt. The consome was ok. The flavor wasn't too bad, but had a lot of lime. The shrimp taco only had two shrimp, but were large. Great flavor and were cooked quite well. The Carnitas was a bit well done for me. Tiny pieces of meat with the consistency of crumbled, well cooked bacon. El Pastor was good. Meat was juicy, tender and good flavor. Estilo Azteca is one of our favorites! The food is amazing and the drinks are great. We have been here several times since they opened and every time the food has been great. It's a small family owned restaurant and the owners are super nice. That being said the service is a bit slow and wait on food can take a little bit but it's worth the wait. I was really excited to try Estilo Azteca after seeing it all over TikTok. I ordered the red and green chilaquiles, and honestly I wasn't that impressed. They weren't spicy at all. The red sauce was kind of sweet and the green one was pretty tangy. The portion was big, but it ended up being a little too soupy for me. The meat was good though. My fiancé got the steak and eggs. His steak came out a bit overcooked, but it still had good flavor. We also tried the mole stuffed hojaldras as an appetizer. I had never heard of that before, but it was actually really good and probably my favorite part of the meal. We stopped by on a Sunday and the wait was not bad. Staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and we were able to sit right away. I did notice that they were setting up for live music. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay for it but I'm sure it would have been fun. read more

We tried Estilo Azteca for the first time on a Sunday late morning and had about a 10-15 minute wait. The space inside is nice overall, though the floor could use a little attention. The building feels like it could fit a couple more tables, since there's some empty space near the entrance. Customer service was good, and the overall vibe was welcoming. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The food took a little while to come out, and the dishes didn't arrive at the same time--our pancakes showed up before the pambazo--but once everything hit the table, it was worth the wait. We ordered the mazapán pancakes and the pambazo. The pancakes were tasty, but I think they'd be even better if the mazapán was layered between each pancake instead of just on top, and with a more generous amount of mazapán. The pambazo was delicious--the flavors were spot on--but the bread felt too big for the amount of filling. Either more chorizo or a slightly smaller bread would make it perfect. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. I'll definitely be back, especially for that pambazo, and to try more dishes from the menu. read more

This morning we tried out a new brunch spot that my son recommended because he saw the Concha French Toast on Instagram. When we arrived at around 10:30 am and the place was hopping. There was a line out front waiting to get in. I put our names in for a table of two and the wait time was 30 minutes. We went to the comic book store next-door to wait and were texted 15 minutes in that our table was ready. We went back over and were seated immediately. The line was still out front waiting when we left. This is a popular new spot, and they seem to get customers in and out quickly and efficiently. I wish that I hadn't had coffee earlier that morning because the colorful glazed clay coffee mugs used here are so pretty. The margaritas also looked popular. We just had water today, so a carafe with lime was brought to our table. Mostly Spanish is spoken here, but when we answered in English, the servers quickly switched over with no problem. Personally, I think it's a good sign when no English is spoken that the food is going to be bomb. The greeters, wait staff, and servers were all very warm and friendly. There was a very nice, welcoming vibe in the restaurant. It smelled clean slightly like bleach when we walked (another good sign for me). It's a casual spot with older folk and families with kids alike. We ordered: - Concha French Toast (to share) - Fresh Conchas (mexican sweet bread), drenched and seared, topped with vibrant fresh fruit, lechera & powered sugar. This is the PERFECT French Toast in my book. I'd come here just for this. Three Conchas are browned and crisped lightly so the outside is slightly crunchy but the inside is nice and moist. I'm not one for maple syrup on my French toast. They asked if we wanted it to be brought to the table and we declined. They brought out béchamel sauce and asked if we'd like them to pour it on or keep it separate. We kept it separate for the photo op, Lol. The toasts were covered in fresh, sweet blackberries, blueberries, thinly sliced strawberries, and powdered sugar. Absolutely delicious! 5/5 - Enchiladas - 3 Large tortillas filled with chicken or beef smothered with sauce, crema, pico de gallo, queso fresco, radish and pickled onions. Hubs ordered these and said he'd like more heat (chili) in the sauce, chicken seasoned more, and red sauce didn't taste like actual enchilada sauce but more like tomato sauce. In all, the food lack flavor and heat in his opinion 3/5 I think if some grilled or fresh jalapeño were offered on the side or a la carte, he may be happier about it. He was also grumpy because he was in one of two blue and white chairs with tight handles. He was uncomfortably wedged in but wouldn't switch seats with me. We saw the couple next to us switch seats right away. - Pastor Taco - marinated pork, grilled pineapple, cilantro, pickled onions. All tacos served with handmade tortillas. 4/5 - Carnitas Taco - Carnitas topped with pickeld onions, cilantro. All tacos served with handmade tortillas. Our server recommended this as her favorite and I agree. These tacos are quite large. I expected street tacos and I'm glad I did not order three. I started on the Carnitas taco and kept eating it because it was so good. By the time I finished, I was too full for the pastor taco. I took it home to eat later. These tacos are packed full of meat. The handmade corn tortillas are thick and chewy and so good. Hubs even tried and loved the tortillas. He said he wished the enchiladas had the same type of tortilla. 5/5 read more

I had an awesome experience here for brunch the other day! We arrived at 9a on a Sunday and did not have to wait to be seated. However, by the time we left at 10a, there were multiple groups waiting to be seated. So plan accordingly, I don't think they offer reservations. No alcoholic brunch drinks, but standard sodas and juice were available. The food was awesome! I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo and it was yummy. Also enough for two meals/ or two people. We also ordered the concha French toast and I really enjoyed that! It wasn't overly sweet either, and served with fresh fruit! My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and THAT was incredible!!! Place is too hyped up. Asada meat tastes like washed al pastor meat. Chicken chilaquiles have literally ground chicken. Green and red salsa is watered down. Presentation pretty and all but taste is not it. Don't come here if you're looking for authentic Mexican food. Service is cool, super friendly. Our server just checked on us twice and food took over 30 mins to get to our table. Front lady was quick to tell us there will be a 18% gratuity the extra effort and coordination required to serve large groups. Mind you she literally took our order, brought out our food and checked on us twice. The food was okay. We orered the iced mexican coffee, chillaquilles verdes w steak, and steak and eggs. I got my food before my boyfriend got his, that was awkward, as was the white curly HAIR he found on his steak. He did say the best part of his steak and eggs were the potatoes. The chillaquilles were crunchy which I love, usually theyre super soggy and disintegrate on the fork. The flavor of the salsa tasted more of tomatillo and was a little overpowering. The music was extremely LOUD, I felt like I was at a club and not having breakfast. The A/C was on full blast and our food got cold quick. I really had high hopes for this place but it just wasn't it. First, my friend didn't want to order & they wouldn't place my order until she ordered. I ordered menudo, it came out with NO hominy. I asked the lady & she said she forgot to tell me they were out. Honestly, the flavor of the menudo was horrible. It has no flavor. We came here on a Saturday morning because it seemed there was lots of potential. No high chair for my toddler. The food took over 30 minutes, finally the first dish arrived. The server said it came out earlier because it's "from the appetizer menu" even though it was ordered as a main course. I think it was just poor communication with us and with the kitchen staff. 15 minutes later, the second plate comes out, 10 minutes later the third plate comes out. All of the food was cold because we were waiting for each other for too long. My friend wanted a side of aju (the broth that birria is cooked in) that they were not able to accommodate for her birria plate, for the reason that "it's not on the menu". There's always aju available if you have birria - everybody knows this. Overall it was a disorganized management of the restaurant with no real sense of urgency. My husband and I were visiting family in AZ and we wanted to try a new restaurant. I found this restaurant on instagram. And it was a hit with my family. Everyone tried a little bit of everything. -chicken enchilada verde -chicken mole enchiladas -Birria ramen -shrimp taco -carne asada huaraches -birria tacos (forgot to take a picture) - breakfast burrito I tried a little bit of everything and I have to say, I really enjoyed the chicken mole enchiladas. It was sweet with a little kick to them. I would definitely order them next time I come back. The shrimp taco was really good. Nice and fresh. I would have loved to have a drink but they are in the process of getting their liquor license. So hopefully that comes in quickly You have to wait a little bit for the food. But it's worth it. Oh Estilo Azteca... you have my heart. From the moment we walked in the staff was so friendly and inviting. Our server had great suggestions and we ordered the horchata and agua de limon con pepino. They were both so fresh and the best, free refills! We then ordered the Huarache and enchiladas de pollo verde. Everything tasted homemade and incredible but my favorite part was hearing our serve talk about how this is a family business and her son is opening 2 more locations. I love to see growth within our community and even more when the whole family pitches in to help. There's love in that kitchen, that's what makes it all taste so amazing. read more

The portion with a 1/4 chick was great and the fresh CHIPs are amazing and I was skeptical on the other reviews but they were wrong I ended up mixing the salsa because that's how I like it . Service: could of been better but I just got there when they opened up so I can how they can be a little sluggish and at the end it was a little slow but all good I still gave a 5 star over all because it's a small mom and pops place and with ALL THE 2 and 3 STARS WILL JUST KILL THIS PLACE . Taco comes with hand made tortilla which were very good, pickled onions add nice touch but the adobada flavor doesn't fully come through It's hot in here, they have a few fans inside but while eating and sitting for food, you can definitely get toasty and the smell of people definitely roamed in the air. In terms of the other food, the birria noodles lacked some flavor. It had lots of grease so the soup itself wasn't enjoyable. The pambazo was huge! A plus for this dish. Super flavor and authentic. Tried out Estilo Azteca in Glendale and honestly, I was hoping for a better experience. The place has a nice vibe, and the staff was friendly, but the food just didn't hit the mark for me. There was something sweet in my dish that felt out of place, and the Barrio Tacos were a little bland definitely could've used more salt or seasoning. On the bright side, the horchata was amazing super creamy and refreshing. That was definitely the highlight of the meal for me. I'd be open to giving it another shot, but it wasn't my favorite this time around. read more

I did notice the expansion and that there are more tables but have to expand your kitchen as I am sure there are only so many orders you can make with that older smaller kitchen . Then they told us 40 mins and then 3 people kept telling us the same thing and then said we was not on the list and then as soon as we leave they say our table is ready. Supported for such a long time and it's a shame with the all of their expansion they are unable to take proper care of their customers now. We came in to enjoy breakfast (party of 4) and saw their host repeatedly seat people ahead of us. After more than 30 minutes of seeing her repeatedly seat parties of 3 and parties of 4 and even a party of 6 ahead of us we just walked out and left. I approached the manager before she sat the party of 6 and asked her why they were getting seated before us after repeatedly seeing her seat multiple parties of 3 before us and her response to me was "I need to seat a party of 6 at that table because it's bigger" what a slap in the face to customer who have supported since the beginning. Estilo Azteca is a small Mexican place in the complex where the old Sprouts was. It's been here for a little over a year and I never notice it. It's a small place and it can get very busy on the weekends. I have such mixed feelings about this place. I've been here twice now and this is my experience. The coffee was different, it has a cinnamon taste. Is that a Mexican thing? I don't know, but I enjoyed it. I had the Mexican Baked Eggs which were very good. It was very tasty but I think I would've enjoyed it a little more if there were home fries or some other potato thing in there. On my second visit, I had the biscuits and chorizo gravy. For some reason, they didn't have any coffee and it was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. They have a fun menu with some creative dishes and I enjoy that. I will definitely be back. read more

If the quality was the same that it was about a year ago I would have given this place a 5/5 but the food was absolute garbage. I just left this place and I'll start with the only thing that was good.. the pepino-lime agua fresca. But the down side is the size. I compared the size to a ketchup bottle and the salt or sugar holder. The last time I came the size was double the size it is now and for 6$ it's not worth it. Rather drink water next time. It's BS. Now, the birria egg rolls were not that great. The birria was horrible in flavor. The consome was so dark and thick and the flavor was just not good. The meat in the egg rolls was bland and hard to chew. The egg roll wrap was coated in like sugar I think and it made it taste gross or idk what they used , maybe pastry wrap but for egg rolls they should go to an Asian market and get the egg roll wraps lol moving to the breakfast burrito, I didn't taste it but my partner said it was bland and the potatoes and egg killed the flavor , couldn't taste the meat. Now the MENUDO which me and MIL and FIL ordered was the worst menudo I have ever tasted. The broth was so thick and had so much of the red chile that it was gross. The protein of the menudo which is the tripa was so hard and tough that you couldn't even chew it. The quality of the food definitely went down. It's no longer the same which is the shame. Maybe the expansion ruined them but who knows. Aside from that the place looks empty like it has too much space lol but the wall art is nice still from the last time, servers are friendly. But idk I honestly don't recommend the place but I didn't try the whole menu so something's might be good. ( the last time we went we had the conchas, the chilaquiles, and some other things I don't remember) could be good or not. Eat at your own risk. But for the 120$ we spent, not worth it. Hopefully they go back to fixing the quality of their food or making changes but we will definitely not be back. LAST THING , we also ordered the quesabirrias, again the birria wasn't good the consome was too thick, we did get them for the hand made tortillas but even then, the tortillas couldn't save the birria. I must say this place is not that bad! Food is pretty tasty and flavorful. I ordered the pambaso which is basically a torta with chorizo and potatoes with their special sauce pretty delicious. Wifey got red chilaquiles with scrambled egg and chicken. We are both from Cali and have high expectations for Mexican food and this place nailed it. They even have Mexican music in the background for the mood. Service was always nice and on point so I must say we will definitely be coming back in the future read more
