Friday night and they were busy but not overly so. A lot of tables available and we had a large crowd. Multiple tickets were expertly handed by the staff. I did not have any alcohol this evening but others indicated the drinks were quite good. As evening progressed, others also gathered to enjoy the evening and the walls echoed a lot, so conversations were difficult at our table. Ambiance became quite loud. Parking lot entrance was difficult to locate when dark, can be tricky unless familiar with the area which we were not. Food portions were typical but served really hot, quite enjoyable. Be aware of the Arkansas 18% alcohol tax that will be included on the bill. Beer taxed at a different rate than mixed drinks and are listed separately if both types are ordered. read more

I usually give anything a second chance but this was the worst "Mexican" food I've ever tasted. They bill it as authentic. I guess I ordered the wrong thing. Chilaquiles Mexicanos. Rice was crunchy, as if it had been sitting in the warmer too long. How do you mess up rice?! Fried egg was brown. Horribly overcooked. And everything covered with ranchero sauce. We stopped here on our way to take our daughter to school outside of Little Rock, AR. As far as Mexican restaurants go, this is a pretty good one. I'm not sure I would describe it as anything over the top special, especially in a metro area like Memphis that has so many Mexican fare restaurants, but the food was good, the portions oversized (so you won't leave hungry), the facility was clean, and the staff very friendly. The food was hella expensive. I'm talkin, 5$ for a drink. If you come here expect to pay AT LEAST 20$ per person for the most mid Mexican food of your life. The service was more like self-service. Our waitress came over and had a horrible demeaning attitude, slammed down menus and silverware at the end of the table, and expected us to pass them out ourselves. She continued doing this with the drinks and even food. We had to pass sodas over the people at our table!!! AND SHE STILL CHARGED FOR A GRATUITY TIP AND FOOD TIP!! WTH?! We love this place! This is the best authentic Mexican food! The service is great. The owner is attentive and friendly. We ordered the Grande Especial and a Mexican salad. The salad was full of leafy greens, veggies and a generous portion of grilled, premium juicy chicken. The Grande is a sampling of many of their offerings: taco, tostada, Chilli reyeno, enchilada and tamale with beans, rice, chips, salsa. Everything on that plate was delicious! I have been a customer for here for years and always enjoyed the food. However, I will NEVER go back now. I have a family member who worked here who was treated horribly. When she was hired as a server, which she has done for many years, they did not tell her speaking Spanish was a requirement... she found out it was. She was also charged $15 for an apron; which she turned in after being fired her 3rd day on the job. Her paycheck did not add up either to what her hourly wages and credit card tips were. The worst thing was when she asked another employee how to say "Good afternoon" in Spanish as her customer was Spanish speaking. They told her a phrase that translated to " I have to pee". How professional!!! The manager made fun of her as well and fired her because she asked him for help in the "wrong way". If you do not speak Spanish or are not Latino/Latina don't bother trying to work here unless you like being humiliated.
