I didn't expect much. It's in Mexia. They have fantastic Jim's Krispy Chicken. Couldn't possibly have another top notch spot. Wrong! Met family there and we posted up for hours. My cousin orders the shrimp ranchero religiously. Swears by it. It looked really good too. I had the shrimp stuffed avocado. It was really nice. I was only a bit put off by the avocado being warm - didn't expect that - but the shrimp flavor was so good I got over it quick! The beans - soooo good! Thick, creamy, cheesy, perfect! It was so good Inforgot to take a picture of it.! Chicken tortilla soup is fully loaded, no short cuts! The nacho chips aren't my fave. Too cornmeal ish and thick. Not like fresh cooked ones. They could step their game up in this area. But with the bean dip being so good, the chips fade to background. They have a full bar and a big selection of margaritas. I have to say my cucumber margarita was ok. Not as tangy as I hoped it would be. But maybe the premier would hit the spot. The staff were very friendly. (Must admit, with all the anti-Cali immigrant hateration going around, I was very surprised to find it harder to communicate with the wait staff here than I ever have had in Cali, but I digress.) There are highly competent English speaking staff available to assist when needed. I had a great meal here, wonderful staff, tasty food, and all at really reasonable prices. Service was languid. Felt we were annoying the waitress by asking for check. " it's up front" .... Food was ok. Part of my objection is Tex Mex style and it's regional - queso sauce is on everything, but the waxy orange cheese in enchiladas & chili rellano is just wrong. No ambiance. Great restaurant. We ate here on our way back from a day trip. My wife and I both enjoyed our food here. I got some spicy fajitas which had jalapeños instead of the normal green peppers. The beef fajitas were great and I liked the beans and rice as well. The queso was decent as well. My wife liked the rice and beans and she is pretty particular in that area so that was good. I didn't get a pic of the food as I was famished and it smelled so good I ended up digging right in. We will be back again when in the area and I will get a shot then. I did get a shot of my beautiful wife happily eating here though. It is a good place to stop in for a quick bite when on the road. read more

This place reminded me of the Mexican restaurants I went to when I was a child. It's big and sprawling and the food is excellent. No vegan options but for vegetarian's you can't beat their cheese enchiladas. No lard in the rice and beans. Friendly, small town place, with excellent service read more

My fiancee & I went for an early Valentine's date.We were quickly seated & asked for our drinks.As soon as the waitress brought the drinks she asked for our order.The food came quickly.I then asked for a margarita which arrived nice & cold.The food was excellent & plentiful.We were very satisfied & plan on going again to check out other things on the menu!For anyone going thru the area that likes good authentic mexican food,THIS is the place! read more

I am very satisfied with this place. The queso is luscious, the food is awesome and hot coming out and the service is friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing and the restaurant is clean. Salsa and chips were amazing, so were the beef fajitas. Everything else we tried was not so great. Corn dog was so burned it was inedible. Puff was a hard corn shell upside down with queso on it. Cheese enchiladas were just queso, no ranchero sauce or onions. Staff was nice until you asked for more things or clarification on menu. Then they had a different personality and left you alone. The chili relleno was stuffed with either beef or chicken. I chose the beef, which turned out to be plain ground beef. The cheese was a soupy canned nacho type of cheese. The egg batter was not thick and fluffy. Way different from typical chili relleno. Enchiladas were good and tasty. Chips were served hot and fresh. Served with two salsas - red & mild green chili. Generally we were not overly impressed. Chips were stale, rice and beans were cold..... Waitress was not concerned with us at all and we were the only ones in at 2 p.m. my husband and I both got sick after we got home. We will defenatly will NOT be going back read more

When I'm traveling for work, pretty much the only thing I ask from my dining experiences is to not get food poisoning. I didn't get food poisoning at Mi Rancho, but I really didn't get much else, either, aside from my dry chicken breast (minus the mushrooms the menu had promised) and old, mass-manufactured US FoodService (tm) flour tortillas. I realize the quality of the food is status quo considering the geographic location, but the pre-packaged US FoodService salsa and the fact that my lettuce & pico de gallo were hot from the heated plate indicates that neither server nor chef really care all that much. read more

Went here for cinco de mayo and me and my aunt both get food poisoning!!! Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. We ordered different entrees but ate from the same appetizer, which was a sausage dip. We are on day 2 of being sick and right now we both have body aches as well. I will be reporting and I advise no one to dine here. read more

The worst food you can find any where, service is bad and unless you are a local don't expect good food or service, buyer beware!!!!!!
