After getting my hair braided, I was craving tacos. I decided to find a taqueria near me. Gave this place a try. I walked in, and, sadly, they weren't very welcoming. There was an older woman and a girl probably in their 20s. They were sitting at one of the booths and at first acted like they're weren't going to get up and walk to the register. So I said, "hi, I wanted to get an order to go." Older lady got up and started taking my order, but the younger woman kept mean mugging me. They spoke limited English and I speak limited Spanish, but we were able to Spanglish it out. I ordered 1 pupusa and 2 carne asada tacos. She encouraged me to get 2 pupusas, so I figured they would be small. After I ordered, I went out to the car to call my husband to kill some time. When I went back in to get my food all eyes were on me again, even the other customers. The younger employee was at the counter taking a phone order. She pointed at my bag, still mean mugging. No one said "thank you" or "have a nice day". I just walked out with my food. The food was good. The carne asada meat was very well seasoned, though the corn tortillas could've been heated up more. The bean and cheese papusa was delicious, but huge, which made me wonder why she insisted I get 2. I couldn't fit the second one in my tummy. So, the food is good, but I don't know if I'll go back. I tried a new spot due to construction on Military.. and here's how it went: The meal was OK, but I specifically asked for heavy lettuce, pico/ tomatoes, cheese and sour cream ONLY. I was provided with extra onions mixed in my lettuce that I had to actually pick out.. which is extremely hard to do when running a busy business, so unfortunately I didn't even get to eat it because I cannot do THAT much onion due to my stomach. The cheese and guacamole was left totally off the order, which I believe I was charged for. The inside was small, ideal to pick up to go or order delivery, but if you wish you can dine in. There was about 3-4 small tables on the right side. Just PLEASE make sure to CHECK YOUR ORDER UPON LEAVING, no matter how busy!! Food is disgusting. We didn't realize it was 4 dollars a taco. If I did I wouldn't have ordered. The tacos were super dry and had zero flavor. It was also ice cold. The chips tasted like they made them a week ago.( Stale) I ordered cheese and limes on the side and didn't receive them. The guac was somewhat edible but still not that good . Their food is completely bland and flavorless, it's actually surprising how they manage to make something so meh. I've had better empanadas from white people. The only thing that I was kinda okay with was the birria tacos. Very dry but at least the sauce was good. If you eat here just be prepared with salt and hot sauce to add any flavor to this disgusting food. read more

I really wish I could give them a better rating since the presentation of the food was pretty good and because they have birria on the menu, since not too many restaurants have it. However, even though the birria was ok, the tacos were not great. They were soggy and bland overall, even the consomé (broth served on the side) didn't help much. The regular tacos were ok, but I just wasn't impressed by the taste of the meat or the tortillas. The horchata was good, but the agua de piña (pineapple water/juice) was extremely sweet and didn't have much of a fresh pineapple taste. I will say that the vibe was very welcoming because of the music, although there was a strong bleach smell in the lobby. I like it when places smell like bleach because it's a sign they are trying to be sanitary, but the smell was a bit sketchy because it was borderline with that feet smell bleach has. So wasn't sure if it was actually bleach or something else trying to be disguised with "bleach". Also, I'm fairly new to the area, so I'm not sure if this is the standard price for Mexican food, but I paid $35 for these two meals. Having a craving for pupusa and burritos lead me to authentic Mexican Mi Rincon food. My order started with 4 pupusa, and 2 California burritos. I saw the quesadillias were store made so why not try them. Hey Empanadas ..let's have 3 chicken. They were out of fulatas and the super nice young last offered a burriata, the tacos were 3 for $?. So had to try them also and Carne aside sounded good. Prices were just as everyone's else's, no surprise there. I was interested in ordering the birthday platter which offered a little of everything, sadly they no longer offer it. Everything was pretty authentic which is just what I wanted. The meal came with 2 types of sauces. The green tomatillio sauce and the Ancho pepper very spicy sauce. For a Monday night they were out of a few basic menu items. The California burritos was good. Not enough Carne asada meat or guacamole. My usual Mexican restaurant has totally spoiled me I guess. Although with all this food for 2 people, I still wanted my bag of tortilla chips with homemade salsa. It does not come with the order. Horchada was muy Bueno, and just come in one size. Stopped by To get pupusa's. The restaurant is small but clean and the service is very friendly as you would expect from a mom and pop Hispanic restaurant. My food came out relatively fast but I could tell that it was freshly made and it was delicious. I highly recommend that you try the popusas and I saw that on Tuesdays they have dollar tacos in those tacos are Carne Asada and other meats that are not just basic.You won't regret getting food from this place. read more

Yesterday I ordered a California burrito and it had a tooth pick inside. I'm very disappointed. Lost my whole appetite.

This is the real deal! I had the shredded beef tacos which were so delicious I will definitely have to come back for them. Nnow some of you like ground beef tacos and that's sad because you miss out on fantastic shredded beef. My wife had the flautas with lots of chicken a nice fresh salad with sour cream again also very tasty. My tacos came with a bean soup which was out of this world. Cilantro but if you like cilantro even a little bit this is really good. The menu is bilingual. Some of the staff is not but for us white folk there are people who can help. Service is pretty good it is a hard line between being too helpful and not helpful at all and they seem to thread it well. Unlike many other Mexican restaurants they don't offer chips which is fine because you fill up on chips and not on a great meal you're about to have. Not that we have visited a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area but this is better than the rest that we have tried. Do you not judge the restaurant by its exterior what kind of looks like a hole in the wall but those are the best kind. For any SDSU alumni this is as good as Two Bit. read more

Supper here is great but don't waste your time with breakfast here I was there first thing in the morning and I was not impressed. I ordered the huevos rancheros and it is not your typical plate the eggs were over fried and the plantains I added were NOT ready to be cooked they were too starchy dry not soft and sweet. Not to mention they literally rough chopped everything threw some tomato sauce in there and called it a day also the rice was old there's just no morning prep before they open for breakfast so it's just left overs and you still pay top dollar 30 bucks ! read more

The pupusas are amazing. Went back again though and they never came out front to take my order never coming back waited 15 minutes.

They must have a problem with turn over of employees. I have gone to the restaurant in several occasions. I am particularly a local business supporter specially when it involves Latin culture as I am Latin. Please do not leave a bad impression of our culture. The space of the restaurant is cozy. The cleanliness leaves a bit to desire. My issue comes when it involves the kids taking and serving. I get it you are trying to teach responsibility but not at my cost. It has happened more than need be they make mistakes on orders to get home and not get what you wanted. Or they want to over charge you an astronomical amount over 3 digits for 2 dishes (is every dish worth $$ totaling $$$.... wow!!!. No customer service skills from anyone. The food is ok, not much in the Chesapeake area to compete with. I can say I have had better but is the only local. read more

Hidden gem. Their food are amazing. My favorites are Pupusa de Frijol (beans&cheese in a thick handmade corn tortilla) and Empanadas de Pollo. They have big serving and reasonably priced. Service is quick too. You can also call ahead and your food will be ready when you get there. read more

Graded on food alone. I finally found authentic flavors. The establishment and service are a bit unrefined but that doesn't matter once you start eating. My family of 4 had pupusa de frijol, quesadillas, tacos de carne and tacos de carnitas with sides of beans and rice. They had great homemade sauces along with imported hot sauces. Drink selection is limited. Paying was an ordeal cause the machine decided not to work during check out but if they work out the kinks I'd definitely return for the food. read more
