This restaurant gives TexMex style food! The restaurant was empty when we came in and no one came in while we ate there. Prices are a bit higher than other restaurants in this city, but I think it's worth what you pay for. The portions here are HUGE!! I recommend sharing plates :) We ordered: carne azada plate, burrito, torta, pupusa, and chorizo/chicken tacos. My favorite meat was the beef, it was tender and juicy. There are many options to choose from on their menu. The food takes a little bit of time to come out but it's made fresh to order. The rice and beans were a delicious addition to your meal. Prices are deceiving. The menu list one price; however, when you pay for the item, the price is much higher than what is printed on the menu. First and last time purchasing food from this restaurant. Suggestion: Update the prices on the menu or advise the customers up front that the $$ amount is incorrect. read more

There is a massive shortage of authentic Mexican food in Virginia. This place is a diamond in the rough. Excellent food, reasonable prices. Best real Mexican in Hampton Roads and it's not close. Really yummy food. I love the puposas and their chicken quesadilla. The salsa is not always the same but this time I could have eaten it with a spoon. I really enjoy the pickled cabbage, carrot and jalapeño slaw that they serve with the puposa. Not sure how they make it but they go perfectly together. Ladies here overcharge the lesser priced foods (I assume it is to disguise the overcharge). When addressed that I was overcharged, lady said it's because the menu is old administration menu and there are new owners. if new owners took over why has menu not been renewed as well?? And customer service from lady seemed a bit hostile/gossipy. And even if so, I believe that as a good c s rep the correct response should have been "we have new owners and menu is in process of updating, but let me speak to manager and try to get price adjustment due to menu advertising different price". But she did not. Suspicious. Anyway, lost my business. I'm from a border town in Texas and was stationed in California for 16 years. Recently moved to Virginia last year and struggled to find good Mexican food. Since running to this gem spot, I've had nothing but good experiences. The food is flavorful and delicious. So far everything I've ordered there is on point! Even vegetarian options! They hand make the corn tortillas. I had 3 different types of the tacos and they were all a hit and the red salsa is where it's at.

We were charged $6+ in tax for a $22 order! Their excuse was, "well it's what the owner wants to charge because food is expensive" then refused to give us a receipt or a refund. Very overpriced, the food was not good at all either lacking in flavor and salt or had too much salt. They also tried to charge us an extra ten dollars for two waters! I'm appalled. Also, the amount of flies hovering over our food made the experience very uncomfortable and gross. read more

Overpriced with no sides. I love tortas and was disappointed that it was listed as $12. I still wanted to try the restaurant and found out they do not sell them! Although it is listed on their menu with a photo of deliciousness, we tried the huarache with chorizo and enchiladas verdes. The food looked amazing but the flavor was missing along with the sides! One of the two huarache had carne asada instead of chorizo. For the price of the food, beans and rice should be included. Though the service was great, we will never return. read more

The wait was long at lunchtime on a Friday but our server gave us a heads up and was so kind and apologetic and even gave us some freebies to make up for it. I really wanted to try the rotisserie chicken, but they were out (also out of the pozole and caldo de res), but the tacos I got were delicious and so were the enchiladas verdes and enchiladas de mole that my friends got. I will definitely be back to try their chicken! The prices were very reasonable and the service was lovely. Also, the house-made salsa was yummy. Great flavor , perfect proportions for the prices . I come at least once a week and the waitress knows my order as soon as I walk in . I normally order 4 tacos de asada with this amazing sauce they put on the pollo con tajada (they serve that here as well). She knows every time I order tacos to bring me the sauce too. The waitress is amazing, refills before my drink is below half which is one thing my husband appreciates because he drinks about 4 cups each meal . Was not expecting the great food and flavor from this unassuming place, but WOW what a pleasant surprise. Everything was great! I asked for some pico which they didnt have, but quickly made.
