    Empanada de Carne

We have been to Mi Sitio Colombian Restaurant at least twice. We wanted to go today, but they are closed on Mondays which is not indicated on the yelp profile correctly. I requested that change. We are pretty obsessed about the food here. It's one of the best we have had and do tend to gravitate towards Colombian food. We have had their empanadas, pan de Bono, papas criollas, cazuela de Mariscos, and Ajiaco. We always come here when it's cold outside so this food is so warm and comforting and so good. The people who work here are super friendly and helpful. After eating here, we go to their market two doors down and buy a bunch of Colombian groceries to take home. There's also an Argentinian pastry shop in the same plaza and on Mondays when they are closed, there is El Ceviche which is Peruvian and pretty amazing too!

    Carne Asada! So good!

Finally found a good Colombian restaurant that's nearby ! This small but delicious gem is located in a small plaza that has shared parking with other restaurants and establishments. Came here on a Tuesday afternoon and it was pretty packed (Colombia was playing) however we still were able to get a table right away. The staff is super friendly and helpful! The food was good and pretty quick even though it was busy. I got the carne asada with rice and yuca. SOO GOOD! Especially recommend the yuca with that pink sauce! Parking is decent since it's in a small plaza, restrooms are okay. The prices aren't bad for the great food you get, We will definitely be coming back soon!

Very attentive servers. Ambiance was family friendly. Portion sizes of food plates were pretty large. Empanada starters were so good. Especially the chicken ones accompanied by the sauces. Seafood soup in yellow sauce was very tasty although the seafood seemed to be from a frozen mixed bag. Kind of tough pieces in there that were hard to chew. The big sample plate was a hit with our party, though. Lots of food for those big appetites! Side of beans tasted more like a home made batch of Mexican pinto beans but were ok. Lots of options for varied tastes. Prices were reasonable.

I was on my way back from Myakka River State Park and I wanted Colombian. I did a Yelp search and found Mi Sitio. It was a little out of the way, but I am SO happy that I tried it. The restaurant is in the corner of an interesting shopping plaza. There were a few other places here I would not mind trying. The restaurant looked really nice and clean on the inside. It is well maintained. It was also packed on a Tuesday afternoon at around 1:30pm. I took that as a great sign! I came in with a plan for cafe con leche, pan de bono, and grilled chicken. That is precisely what I ordered. I munched on a pan de bono as I waited on the rest of my food to arrive. All of the food was delicious! I do wish the cafe con leche was a little hotter, but the flavor was outstanding. It did not last long. I may have licked the straw and attempted to scrape the foam out of the cup when it was gone. I was tempted to order another, but I did not want to overdo it. The grilled chicken was extremely flavorful. I asked for hot sauce since I know most Colombian restaurants make their own. I received two small cups of it and it did not disappoint. My chicken did not need it because it was flavorful.. but I used every bit. The beans were typical of the red beans that I have had at other Colombian restaurants. They had a lot of flavor. I also had a salad and sweet plantains. The salad was fresh and well dressed. The plantains were delicious. I prefer mine cooked just a tiny bit more to achieve more caramelization, but it did not stop me from devouring them. I also want to add that service was impeccable. My waiter was attentive and friendly. He even joked with me about not liking the pan de bono (because I was strong and resisted eating them both..one went home for later). It was also a lot of food and I had leftovers. I really enjoyed my experience here. I will come back when I am in the area.

    Sancocho de res !

The food was delicious! We ordered sancocho de res y estaba supere deliciosa. No somos de por aquí y ya tenemos un lugar donde comer para la próxima!

One of my favorite places to stop by for a quick snack! Beef empanadas are yummy and reasonably priced. Staff wear mask and clean surfaces. No outside sitting area but plenty of tables inside. I have tried the cheese bread, chicken empanada and beef empanada so far and the beef empanada is the winner so far! You can also place an online order and pick up at store.

Soursop (Guanabana) juice, it can be mix either with water or milk. I opt for water and I liked it.

I think this is my first time having Colombian food. I'm in town visiting family and they took me here for dinner. We walked in and there were only a few people in the restaurant but with it being Halloween maybe the rest was out trick or treating. The place looks clean and had a few TVs and Colombian music in the background. We started off ordering their fresh squeezed fruit juices: guanabana (soursop), limonada and maracuyá (passion fruit), our server asked if we wanted our juices mixed with water or milk (except for limonada) and we asked for water. You can really taste the fruits natural flavors and sweetness. Really good drinks. We all ordered their Bandeja Paisa. My understanding it is one of their best dishes. It is basically a meat platter! It was served with beans, rice, corn cake, plantain, grilled/ground beef, fried pork belly, sausage, and egg. Hot/mild sauce available as well. The serving is huge, two people can easily split this dish. All the meat looked so good, my favorite was the crispy fatty pork belly. (If you follow me, you will know by now my obsessions with greasy fatty foods). The pork skin can use some more time to crisp up, there was still some chewiness to it. The beef had a nice marinade and eat bite was really tasty, and the sausage was ok. We also ordered the Pandebono, this is a Colombian cheese bread. It was just put into the oven and it was about 15 mins wait, but I'm telling yah, it was worth the wait! The smell was so inviting! Eat it while it's hot. You get the crispy outside and chewy goodness in the inside. It was so good! Price was very affordable and with their huge servings, it's a deal! Customer service was great! Very friendly and accommodating with questions regarding their menu. Their restaurant is located in a small strip mall with a parking lot with lots of spaces. My sister brought a couple here who are familiar with Colombian food and that couple said that their food is really authentic Colombian! If you are in Sarasota/Bradenton or even Tampa area and want to try authentic Colombian food. Come and try Mi Sitio Colombian Restaurant and you will not be disappointed.

And the portions are HUGE. We had a reservation which was well used as it was pretty packed. We sat inside. It was pretty warm inside, though, from the heat so just be prepared for that. We got a pitcher of sangria and they make it right beside the table. It was SO good. Wow. Each person got about 1/4 a loaf of warm bread. They did say it was cuban bread but it wasn't really. But hey the bread was good. We got their famous salad to try (one side order for 2 people to split and one person got it as their entree) and it was very good. They also make that table side. For our meals, we got the lechón, salad, and fish. The portions were HUGE. So much pork. It came with great tasing yucca, beans, and plantains too. For desert, we got the guava pastry and the natilla. The guava pastry was actually kind of amazing. Warm and so so good. The natilla was good but it was closer to a crème brûlée. It was still good, though. I'm excited to go to another (closer) location of theirs again. It was really such good food. We were also able to take our leftovers with us since they gave us so much food. The lechón plate is definitely splittable.

Unfortunately, the pork chops were extremely disappointing--they came out rock-hard and completely devoid of seasoning or taste. They genuinely seemed like they were taken straight from the package and dropped into the fryer with zero prep, no marinade, no breading enhancement, nothing. The texture was so tough it was almost inedible, and there was no juiciness or pork flavor to speak of at all. The server was genuinely apologetic and handled the situation with professionalism, which I appreciated. The owner did come over, looked at the plate, said "oh wow," and then comped half the price of the dish. While the discount was a gesture, it felt more like a quick fix than a real effort to make things right--especially since the food was fundamentally flawed from the start. If you're searching for authentic, well-executed Spanish or Latin-inspired food (especially something as straightforward as fried pork chops), this place doesn't deliver. The execution here falls far short of what you'd expect from a restaurant charging for these kinds of dishes. With better attention to seasoning, proper frying technique, and perhaps a bit more care in portion prep, this could be salvageable--but right now, I'd steer clear of the pork chop entrée specifically. Other items on the menu might fare better, but on this visit, the pork chops were a clear miss.
