You and your guests will be so happy. First, the food is awesome. Very tasty and fresh. I have eaten there multiple times and it's always delicious. I have ordered catering for a couple parties and my guests are always asking me where the delicious food is from! You get so much food, and you know the best thing about hosting a party is the leftovers (unless the food is so good that your guests eat it all or want to take the leftovers home... which is what happened to me both times, but at least they left me some rice and beans and that kept me happy for another week). Just goes to show how good it is! Second, the restaurant is so beautiful and cozy. You feel the history and family behind the food and the love of the legendary Mama Coco! Third, Monica and the Mama Coco team are super. So kind. Just writing this review and reminiscing about the food is making me really want to eat there so yep, looks like I'm going there this weekend!

Plus there was an outdoor kids area and I was definitely the best mom at that moment when she saw it. It was a nice day to sit outside and my husband and I loved the murals. I saw a video of food recommendations and we had to try the ceviche. It was more like a shrimp cocktail minus the juice. We loved it, especially my toddler. She got some tacos and extra rice. I got the mole enchiladas. The black beans were so tasty. The whole plate was delicious. My husband got a torta with al pastor. It was not what he was expecting but he still ate the whole plate. He'll probably try asada when we come back. Service was great. We were tbe only ones outside but staff still cane regularly to check on us. Definitely a spot to check out with your family.

I got 2 quesobirria tacos and 2 tacos al pastor, and visually everything looked on point -- the plating was clean, tacos looked well-stuffed, and the birria tortillas had that nice golden crisp. But once we started eating, we all felt the same thing: the salsas were lacking flavor. And with tacos like these, good salsa takes everything to the next level. Here, it kind of held them back. They only gave me two tiny lime pieces, and I couldn't even get enough juice out of them to brighten up the tacos. Something so simple, but it makes a huge difference. We also asked for chips and salsa (they're not free), and they never came. Honest mistake -- they were cool about it and took it off the bill -- but still, it added to the overall experience. Another thing: the nopales weren't well cooked or prepped. They had that slightly tough, raw texture instead of the tender, seasoned bite they should have. Flavor-wise, the pastor and birria were decent, but with weak salsa and barely any lime, it felt incomplete. All four of us agreed on the same thing: This place could be great if they tighten up their salsas and the little details. I'd give them another shot someday because the base is there -- they just need that extra punch of flavor to really elevate their tacos.

Sweet :) Wanted something relatively fast and somewhat healthy and hearty, so we decided to go in. I ordered three shrimp tacos which I believe came with corn tortillas, grilled shrimp, green bell peppers, white onions, and some kind of salsa (green salsa & pico de callo). Delicious! There was a pretty good amount of shrimp in each taco, which I was super stoked on. Total for the three shrimp tacos came out to $19.74 (3x shrimp tacos = $5.99). Everything came out perfect and consistent. There is seating outside and plenty of seating inside. When you first walk in, you will notice the bar to the left side of the restaurant. It was clean, bright, and welcoming. The woman at the counter was straight-forward, nothing too crazy to note on. They have a $10 minimum when paying with a credit card, so just be prepared for that :) The best part is... they have self-serve tortilla chips AND self-serve salsa bar! Their salsas were the right amount of spicy (just the way I like it)... Their bathroom is also very clean, which is always a plus. I told my friend that I will make note of this restaurant, because it's so good and delicious... (will definitely come back again for their salsa bar :)

My original dish of choice was the Red Snapper Al Mojo de Ajo. But many years ago I made the switch to Enchiladas de Mariscos. I have tried the Mole Poblano and fajitas. I have been known to get a burrito for lunch. There are other things on the menu I'm sure I'd be happy with. But, when it's Cafe del Sol night, I crave the adobo marinated seafood and chipotle tequila cream sauce of the seafood enchiladas. They are served with yummy cilantro rice, diced mango, salsa fresca, and a small salad. The rotating dishes of my party include Camarones al Mojo de Ajo, the Red Snapper, Fish Tacos, and El Combo. We always get Quesadilla de Camaron as a starter. The quesadilla comes with a side of guacamole, sour cream, salsa fresca, and diced mango for your dipping pleasure. A side order of chips comes with an addictive salsa verde. The restaurant is not without its challenges. It is a small space and often only has one server. The two servers, Tammy and Sonia, have been there forever and are very loyal to their customers. If you are looking for a place with constant stimulation, the latest and greatest in restaurant decor, this isn't the place for you. I come back over and over for the flavors I can't resist.

I typically order the chicken nachos or the chicken tostada. I have no idea what seasoning they use on the chicken, but it is to die for! I've also tried some of their other appetizers which were also very good. Taking way one star just because the inside is pretty awkward to navigate (you have to squeeze between tables), and I do wish they offered margaritas haha. I also feel like it's always super quiet in there when dining in. I feel like if they had fun music playing or offered weekend brunch or something, it might get more customers in there.

Although I usually go to the one in Palo Alto, the one in Menlo Park is also quite nice. Celia's is definitely a place I recommend to friends who want some down-home no-frills Mexican fare. Their food is always on point and tasty. The only difference between this location and the one in Palo Alto is that this one has a more open layout and feels more spacious. Otherwise the food and service are basically the same meaning terrific. I also never write reviews based on DoorDash orders but Celia's is definitely one of my go-to's on the app because of the $0 delivery fee. No matter what the location, Celia's is definitely on the short list for classic Mexican food. I can see why it has done well over the years.

Definitely a fancy Mexican restaurant, though not overly upscale. You'll want to dress up a bit, as it's not the kind of place where casual wear is the norm. While looking at the menu, we learned an interesting piece of history: Celia's has been around since the 1960s, but it didn't start as a Mexican restaurant! It originally served American food, but the Mexican dishes became so popular that they eventually transitioned to an exclusively Mexican menu. I found that really fascinating. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated at a table for two. Without even asking, a server brought over a generous basket of chips and salsa, along with water. It was a nice touch, and we appreciated the prompt service. My partner ordered the green enchiladas, and I opted for the taco salad bowl. Oh my goodness, both dishes were absolutely delicious! The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and my taco salad was so refreshing. The service throughout our meal was incredible. The prices were a bit on the higher side; for our two main dishes and two margaritas (which were reasonably priced at about $12 each), the total bill came to $72 before tip. While it's not a budget-friendly option, I'd say it's worth it for the overall experience and the quality of the food. I would definitely come back again!
