We came here thinking they had happy hour (which they don't really seem to have btw just slightly discounted beer bottles) but also were so intrigued by the Crunchwrap. My friend and I both got the make your own Crunchwrap and it was so amazingly flavorful with any choice of meat, beans, guac, sour cream and other unlimited toppings. They even had an option to get birria, the Crunchwrap was really crunchy similar to Taco Bell's but it was HUGE. My company catered Guapas Mexican Grill through Relish, and since I've never had this place before--especially something similar to Chipotle--I went in with pretty high expectations. I ordered a burrito with carne asada along with one taco. Right away, I was impressed with the presentation. Everything was neatly packed, and the portions were generous, which is always a plus for catered meals. Overall, the taste wasn't bad, but it didn't completely wow me. The carne asada was decent and filling, though I feel the burrito would've tasted much better with sour cream. Unfortunately, that came with an extra fee, so I skipped it. In hindsight, I probably would've enjoyed the meal more if I ordered a bowl instead, since the flavors might have stood out more without being wrapped in a tortilla. While it wasn't my favorite Mexican-style catering I've had, it was still a solid option for a work meal. My boyfriend was in the area and based on the rec of a friend decided to pick us up Guapas to bring home. Since this spot is about 30 minutes away from where we live, he called ahead to speed up the process. Sadly that seemed to have been the wrong move, it's definitely a place that is better to order in person since so much of it is build your own. We got a burrito and a crunchwrap, portions of each were absolutely massive. I was starving so I gladly attacked half of each, but regretted that move once the fullness began to set in. Tried Guapas Mexican Grill recently and overall had a really good experience. It's a casual spot with solid food that definitely delivers. We ordered two Taco Trios so we could sample all of their meat options, and the asada and carnitas were easily the standouts--both were flavorful and well cooked. We also tried the impossible meat burrito, which was absolutely delicious and a great option even if you're not vegetarian. The habanero salsa was tasty but definitely spicy, so proceed with caution. Service was average, nothing bad but nothing standout either. That said, the food more than made up for it. Prices felt fair for the quality, and overall it was worth the visit. Ingredients are fresh and well made - I love chipotle, but this was definitely a step up with quality. Want to add lime juice? They freshly squeeze up to a whole lime for you or you can ask for it on the side. Want extra spicy salsa? They have a wide variety you can try. Unfortunately the location can make it easy to miss, but the food and the staff are very friendly. Restaurant has extremely bright white fluorescent lights that kind of make it feel like you're filming a reality TV show or you're at a hospital cafeteria - the place could really bring a friendlier atmosphere with some softer lighting and some additional wall decor (or wall paintings?). It has been well over a year since I have picked up lunch or dinner from here. The previous time I picked up a bowl, the meat was under seasoned. I opted for an al pastor crunch wrap. While the portion size was decent, I felt the meat ratio could have been better. I ate it fairly quickly after pickup and it was not crunchy. I prefer a crunchier texture and it was more on the soggier side. I also got an order of mini churros, which were ok. Their mini churros have filling, which I don't prefer. I visited Guapa today and had an experience that left me genuinely concerned. The woman serving food appeared visibly irritated from the moment I approached the counter and interacted with me in a way that felt dismissive and unwelcoming. It seemed as though she did not want to serve me at all. What makes this more troubling is that this is not the first time I have experienced this type of treatment at this restaurant. On multiple occasions, I have encountered employees who displayed a similar attitude toward me without any apparent reason. I have also noticed that during these interactions, the food portions I received were noticeably smaller than expected. I cannot say with certainty what the reason is, but as a dark-skinned Black man, it is difficult not to question whether my ethnicity may be playing a role in the way I am being treated. Regardless of the cause, no customer should feel unwelcome, disrespected, or treated differently when patronizing a business. I am sharing this experience not to create division, but to raise awareness and encourage management to take a closer look at customer service practices. I mean if there is one thing I can't resist is a cute place and this is one of them. Walking in, we were greeted by friendly staff, it was bright, inviting, clean and decorated with simple, cute artwork. You have the option of choosing between a bowl/salad, burrito, quesadilla, nachos, tacos or a crunch wrap as an entree. I personally choose the bowl with cilantro rice, carne asada, pinto beans, grilled corn, lettuce, grilled pineapple (now this ingredient made me sooooo happy to see!!!), monterey jack cheese, queso fresco, cilantro, tomatillo sauce, crema and chipotle mayo. As I went down the line and choosing my essential toppings for my bowl, I noticed that staff took great care in placing it in the bowl, but what I ended up not liking is that all of the ingredients were placed side by side. So I had my rice, next to my beans, etc...instead of stacking them in layers one on top of the other. Aestehically sure it looked good, but as I was eating my bowl, all my pineapples were on one side, beans on the other. Sure, it may seem like not a big deal to just mix it yourself, but when the bowl is filled to the top, it makes it hard to get equal taste portions of every ingredient with every bite. Everything tasted fresh. I really enjoyed the pineapple, I mean how many establishments can say that they have that as an option?? Maybe unless the restaurant has el pastor and even then.... I was surprised that for the long period of time that we were there eating and hanging out, no one else dined in. People were taking their food to go. Parking is easy and convenient, Guapas is next to Safeway. They do have a happy hour, but its only for alcohol from 3 to 6 pm. Would I come back again? Yes! I'm thinking that next time, it will be a must to order their churros since its stated that they are made in house. read more

It's pretty dense and will be sure to get you full. The food items are pretty pricey at about $15 on average but the portions are big and reasonable. While in this part of the Bay Area recently, we wanted to get something to eat besides Asian food. A search for new Mexican restaurants yielded Guapas Mexican Grill. Ironically, it appears that an Elite Week at this Menlo Park location just started as part of a 'Fall into Wellness' event series for those in the Yelp Peninsula community. The store was modern with well-spaced apart seating in the dining area. The menu concept was similar to Chipotle's with a build-your-own concept. The vehicle could be a bowl, burrito, taco trio, quesadilla, nachos, or crunch wrap. All of them were priced the same at $14.95. A choice from three types of rice or a lettuce mix could be the base. Seven kinds of protein were offered. Up to three salsas could be selected out of the eight listed. I chose a Taco Trio for my meal. Three corn tortillas were warmed up on a circular flat top grill before being stuffed with a base of white rice. Al pastor, carne asada, and barbacoa were my protein picks. Mild tomato sauce and guapas crema were the selected salsas. I picked several of the vegetable toppings that were included in the price and avoided those that had a surcharge (e.g. avocado). The size of the tacos was greater than street size, yet $5 apiece was pricey. I found it to be discouraging that there was a lack of a price difference no matter what vehicle was used. Compared to the Mexican cuisine in my current hometown, the meats were under-seasoned and needed more flavor. The shredded beef of the barbacoa was dry too. While the ambiance was fine for a fast casual Mexican chain, the food I tasted did not reach a four star level. read more

The service was just as good as the last time around, with the employees being very friendly and welcoming. To make good on my promise, I got the Crunchwrap. Judging by the two MASSIVE scoops of chicken the employee on the line gave me, I knew this was going to be good. Another indicator that told me this was about to smack was the sheer size and weight of this thing; it's not hyperbole when I say this thing was around 1-2 pounds. Not only was the Crunchwrap huge, but it was delicious. The chicken was moist, all the ingredients were evenly spread out, and nothing was greasy. If you haven't eaten all day, I recommend you order this. I was full after eating half of this beast of a meal. I tell you, you're missing out if you don't give this place a try. read more

They lady working was new and did not speak English so ordering was a bit difficult and I was over charged for my chips and salsa some how she rang them separately and I didn't notice till later as it was my first time there. I love how clean it was. I think I should come during a busy time. I came in the afternoon and I think everything had been sitting too long. Everything was just ok. There wasn't anything to wow me and I have been hesitant to go back just because the flavor didn't really stand out. I wanted to like this place. I even walked in two other times. Been here a few times and was very surprised! Quality, service, cleanliness, and amount of options exceeded my expectations. Big brownie points for offering rice WITHOUT cilantro, AND fun sauces/toppings! I will choose this over chipotle 10 out of 10 times. Highlights for me are their barbacoa (not spicy- but add some salsa if you want it that way) truffle crema, and queso blanco. Minus one star for flow and ambiance. The flow for customers could be improved maybe with a different table layout, and the theme is too white and sterile. Guapas is super cute! Very hipster, with lots of neat wall art. They also have a bar! Fast and friendly service. They have special tacos/bowls/burritos/crunchwraps or you can customize your own. Came here for the grand opening and got an al pastor bowl with a tortilla on the side. It's a pretty similar concept to Chipotle but I do think they offer a bit more options including tacos, burritos, crunch-wraps, bowls, nachos; everything is the same price. They have different tortilla options and also have cilantro rice! The service was really fast and the space had very fun decor. Nice new discovery in MP - this clean friendly upscale HEALTHY chipotle style Mexican restaurant really hits the spot. Starts off with incredibly friendly staff, very clean and inviting restaurant. The food is fresh, healthy and tasty, with lots of choices including a huge crunch wrap style burrito (crispy tostada buried inside). The veggies and sides are all super fresh and you can get spring mix lettuce instead of typical chopped iceberg on request. The house crème is a must as the meat (al pastor in my case) was a tad dry and lacked a full punchy flavor by itself. The house crème corn side (Elote) is really nice also. It's important to note the healthy aspect again, if you are looking for fatty cuts of meat or lots of melted gooey cheese this isn't the right spot for you.
