Visiting family in Florida for a quick weekend trip and wanted to check out a local spot. We ended up choosing Mexican cuisine and this was the spot we ended up at. Once you step inside you are greeted with artwork on all the walls and just a well decorated space. In no manner does it make you question if this is a Mexican restaurant. Menu wise they have everything you would expect plus some you wouldn't including burgers and some kid options that are in no way Mexican food. It is great to include these for those picky eaters to not be left out but I recommend even those people should give something more authentic a try. Drink wise they have all the non-alcoholic options plus cocktails and beers too. My wife snagged a Pina Colada and I got a jalapeño margarita. Pina Colada was fantastic and the margarita was solid with many jalapeños cut up in the drink but didn't have as much of a spicy kick that I expected. Food wise I got their Enchiladas Mi Bandera (basically three different meats and three different sauces) and my wife got the Chimichangas Norteñas (large). Service wise was definitely the lacking aspect of our visit. Minimal check ins from our server with an extremely long wait for food especially compared to similar restaurants. Also my wife asked about the size of their chimichangas and was told roughly half the actual size so went with two. I did enjoy her leftovers though but was crazy how off they were on the size. Portions are definitely large for many of their dishes including the giant burrito another family member got, absolutely massive. Food was good, (have had better) with lacking service in an awesome designed restaurant. Overall middle of the road and would check other spots nearby before returning. read more

I have driven by this place for years but have never stopped in before. They have a large parking lot and I would often see if busy at various times. Well I finally stopped by today for a quick lunch. I was greeted when I walked in and sat down. The place was much smaller on the inside than I expected but I absolutely loved the colors and decor around the restaurant. I was brought complimentary chips and salsa to the table. The salsa was good. I ordered a chili relleno, it came with rice and refried beans. The food came out fast. Everything I had was pretty good. Nothing that grabbed me as I must have again. For the cost it was though, I would happily try it again for lunch and work my way around the menu. read more

Such a great local Mexican spot -- definitely one of our favorites close to the house! The food tastes like comfort... their rice and beans remind me of my grandma's from back home in Northern Cali. So good. The crunchy shredded beef tacos are my go-to every time. My 12-year-old loves the rice and beans too, plus the street asada tacos. And my hubby is all about the fried fish -- his favorite on the menu. Service is great and attentive, and the decor gives off those authentic vibes that make you want to stay awhile. I wanted to love this place. Looked very authentic walking in and the waitress was so nice but the food is nothing special. My burrito actually came out a little cold which I was surprised because it had hot cheese on top of it. We had a larger group so it was probably hard to make it all and keep it warm but cold Mexican isn't enjoyable. All of their burritos have the beans and rice inside and they give you the option to have outside but then the burrito is a little plain. I also didn't think the queso was that flavorful (we got it with chips as an appetizer). It's not bad, there's just other options that are more my style. read more

I was excited to try this place after hearing many raving reviews. Some were saying this was the best Mexican food in orange city. I was underwhelmed when I came in Saturday night. We were turned away 25 minutes before closing because the chef decided to "call it a night", as we were told by a staff member. It wasn't a problem, so we decided to return the following day. Very disappointed overall. The only saving grace to our experience was how friendly the staff was. Gonzalo our server was nice, and other staff members stopped by to check on us. The bathrooms were dirty, tons of dust accumulated on surfaces, and not great tasting food. Would not recommend. read more

Was recommended to try next time I was in Orange City area and although a bit apprehensive, I'm SO glad I did and that it also happened to be on Taco Tuesday!! Didn't look like much on the outside, but it was packed for lunch inside. Waited in line for a table, but once seated I had fantastic server Eliseo. The place was buzzing with everyone working hard to clean tables and get the orders out quickly. I was impressed by the teamwork and kindness of the staff. I was unaware they provided complimentary warm chips and salsa and was grateful when they were placed on my table. On this visit, they had a Lunch Menu where I tried the Red Beef Enchilada w beans and rice. There was also a Daily Special Menu that included Taco Tuesday for $1.45 each! The homemade Salsa, Pico and Hot Sauce were ALL delicious and I added them to my items (especially the beans that were tame for all the different tastes and ages present). My enchilada was plentiful and the sauce, although mild, was really authentic and delicious. The street tacos were served carnitas style regardless of the type of meat (I ordered 1 of each to try) and I found them a bit dry so I put some lime, salsa and hot sauce and found them delicious as well. My friends and I eat there every Tuesday night for their 5 beef toco for $5.99 and there GREAT you can get hard or soft tocos. The service is top notch with chips and dipping sauce to munch on while you wait for your meal, being that we always ask for the same server she knows what we want and puts our order in once we're seated. The inside is well decorated with everything from Mexico as if you were really there. Owners are close to the door treating you with his beautiful smile and when he isn't he taking with tables to make sure everyone is happy and having a Great time. Went for date night. The waitress only came over to deliver food, drinks, and to take our order. Food was average, not the best by any means. I didn't have a drink after our food came out, the waitress never gave me any water after the first cup. After waiting forever for the check I handed it to her with our debit card. She then walks back and hands my husband the card and check along with a sweet tea to go.... Doesn't look at me, acknowledge me nothing.... I think overall Mi Tierra is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. It has the best mix of things I look for in a restaurant. Location, atmosphere, food, service, and prices. Mi Tierra checks off all of these on my list. I've had the chicken tamale, crispy beef taco, crispy chicken taco, beef enchiladas, crispy shrimp tacos, crispy fish tacos, and of course the yellow rice and refried beans. Everything I've tried has been good. I could pass on the beef enchilada and crispy tacos though. I'd say the tamales have been the best item thus far. The Cadillac margarita (special) was incredible. A great price for a huge monstrosity of a drink! Add a shot of 800 tequila to it and fugghedabouttit! I really like the spacious parking, excellent service we've experienced, solid food, and good prices at Mi Tierra. This is currently the go-to Mexican spot in the Deltona/orange city area until another spot takes the crown. read more

We went to MI Tierra Authentic Mexican Restaurant for lunch today and found some positive things as well as some negative things about the business. For starters, Mi Tierra Authentic Mexican Restaurant is conveniently located on a main road in the middle of Orange City. It has a decent amount of parking and the restaurant is a pleasing enough. I like the paintings on the wall and the little statues placed on the shelves on the wall. Our server could definitely been more attentive, though he was friendly enough. He brought us chips and salsa. The salsa was good, however the chips were terrible. It tasted like they were cooked in old oil. They also do not have a children's menu. Not a big deal, the four-year-old with us literally only wanted rice and beans and even though it was not listed on the menu, our server got it for us. We had a couple of burritos and a couple of fajitas. While they were not bad, they were nothing great either. The lunch portions were definitely decent sized, especially for the price. Our bill before the tip was just a bit over forty dollars for four adults and a four-year-old. I don't know if I would return, but it was definitely not the worse meal that I ever had. It just was nothing special. I guess that I will give it three stars for mediocre. read more

I've been here twice now, and unfortunately, both experiences have fallen short. On both occasions, the service just didn't meet expectations. Our group of 10 was split in terms of service--half of the table was served promptly, while the other half was completely overlooked. Our food was just not that great either for the price. We requested chips several times, but they never arrived. Our waiter focused on serving everyone around us, yet failed to check in on our table. We also asked for additional drinks, which took multiple requests to fulfill. After three attempts to get a drink from the bar, our waiter still didn't check back in. To top it off, we struggled to even get our check, as the waiter seemed preoccupied chatting with the bartender. It was a frustrating experience, and unfortunately, it left a bad impression both times. Very disappointed in this local spot that was recommended by so many in the Deltona FB group. I saw the 3.5 rating on yelp but gave this place a try based on the word of mouth on FB. We stopped by Saturday night 10:07PM, we were turned away saying "Sorry the kitchen is closed" the restaurant closes at 10:30PM based on Google. We were told to come back tomorrow, the person that spoke with us would "take care of us". We came back the next day, ordered a blue margarita which was good steak fajitas and shredded chicken tacos. The steak fajitas were very bland the meat visibly looked like it had 0 seasoning and tasted just like it. The fajitas veggies were seasoned and tasted okay. The rice and beans were good. The shredded chicken tacos were so dry, there was a big dried hunk of chicken in one of the tacos (see photo) The server was good, the bathroom needs some TLC badly. Everything inside was dusty you can tell it hasn't been cleaned properly in a while. I wouldn't recommend this place and will not be returning. read more

We were each served a very large rectangular platter full of food. A very impressive presentation. And the large stuffed chicken burrito was absolutely packed - with rice. After a few bites of nothing but rice, we wondered where's the protein? Opening up the burrito left us still wondering where is the protein? Pulling the entire burrito apart exposed maybe a total of 4-5 tiny M&M-size morsels of chicken. We asked the friendly waiter if we mistakenly received a vegetarian version - nope, that's our chicken burrito. At $18 for the burrito, we both agreed that rice was really, really expensive. Why are we feeling like we just got ripped off? After all, we got a lot of very expensive rice. Too expensive for us. We paid our check and left. Never again. We won't be back. read more

Stopped here with the gang after a nice day at Blue Springs park. Chose this place because it was Mexican food and the outdoor patio allowed us to have the dog. This is where the benefits stopped. We ordered our meals and after 45 minutes I decided to go inside and check on the food. Another five minutes later the waitress came out and promised "only two more minutes." Ten minutes later, two meals came out, and then another five minutes the final two meals arrived. We collectively took a poll, and decided that on a 1-100 scale, the food was a 65. (2/15/2023) we were on our way back from Blue Spring State Park after taking in some manatee watching, 284 that day! It was a late lunch, arrived just in time for the lunch specials (which ends at 3:00 PM). Got Baja Fish Tacos, battered, deep-fried flaky white fish, well-seasoned; Burrito Mexicano (bland); Taco Dorado was the best of the meal. They were like a quesadilla with melted cheese crusted on the outside. The gratis chips were crisp and warm and fresh onion-y salsa fresca. The hot salsa was really habanero hot, be forewarned. Service was friendly and tried really hard, but not entirely accurate. Cheap, $4.75 house margaritas for the win! They're fairly strong, but do have the typical sweet and sour taste to them - but not overbearing. The atmosphere is cute, fun, and colorful. However, the service was nothing to get excited over. It took a while to find our server to get our checks and when she finally showed, I told her we were trying to make it to a movie...so naturally, she took her sweet time. She took our cards and then went to the bar to make some margaritas and other drinks, then disappeared for a while. I got up from the table to track her down and finally got her to ring our cards so we could leave and make our movie showing. It really irritated me. The food was mediocre. I've definitely had better Mexican food, but it was decent enough to enjoy. I had chicken enchiladas with white queso on top that came with rice and refried beans. The one thing I found surprising and definitely awesome was that my enchiladas came with huge slices of avocado on top of them. YUM! If you don't necessarily want the beans and rice and would rather a couple options like tacos, enchiladas, burrito, etc., ordering off the a la carte menu is definitely the cheaper way to go. This spot gets busy busy! Especially on Tuesday's as they have great prices on tacos and margaritas, so get there early! Margaritas were refreshing and the tacos tasted fresh and were so cheap!!
